Title: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 11:50:29 AM Good morning, friends! It is yet early, and I am over at Casa Junglecat eating bacon sandwiches, but come apparently 2pm we will be down at the Grosvenor Casino By The Sea to update you on all the action on the first GUKPT of 2008.
In the meantime you might be interested to know that the media comp last night ended up an all-blonde affair, with me and Junglecat playing heads-up in an only slightly boozy manner for the first prize of a free GUKPT main event ticket. In a most gentlemanly of conclusions, we decided to split the prize somehow. But I won. Is the important thing. Yay me and Junglecat! People spotted in the casino last night, and therefore most likely playing today, include Red-Dog, tikay (God help us if he's playing today though), Mickey Wernick, William Hill's own Julian Thew, Paul Parker, and Jen Mason (wandered in around 1am to drink whisky). Should be a good one... Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 01:52:23 PM We are here! And everyone in the pressroom is having trouble connecting to the internet except for me! Ahh ha ha ha ha! I love my Mac.
Spotted milling so far are Ian Woodley, Willie Tann, Ian Cox, and a bunch of other people. We have a bag of jelly babies, and we're ready to roll... Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: JungleCat03 on January 17, 2008, 02:24:46 PM Well, blonde have sent me to all the far flung corners of the land, from Plymouth to Walsall and my exotic journey now comes full circle as I return to my town of residence, the "sunny" and idyllic locale of Brighton as the TD just referred to it.
Actually, he was being slightly economical with the truth as it is in fact a grey, wet, windy and somewhat drab day weather-wise, but that is unimportant as an abundance of excited, happy, optimistic and talented poker players have assembled to do battle on Day 1 and will be filling the grosvenor casino with enough poker sunshine to tan a marshmallow. As a quick aside, I realise Dana has already done an official chirp regarding the press tournament last night but I would like to add my congratulations to Dana who played very well to bring home the seat. Well done you banjo-playing badass! (Jen took some interesting and most probably humiliating shots of us in celebratory poses which we will post up during any lull for your general amusement and because we are shameless punks) The players have just about started and Dana has plunged into the midst of things to get the early news. The tournament clock will be posted up shortly but a quick reminder that the event starts with 10k chips and 25 50 for the first level. Level increases will be hourly. There is lots of interest for blondites in the form of Ian Cox, Julian Thew, Red-Dog and many others who we will be following closely. There is a nice blend of strong experienced players as well as the usual smattering of "less gifted"* participators. In addition of course there is the fearsome and well supported Jen Mason, who seems to run deep in every live tournament she plays these days and will no doubt make anyone sharing the felt with her ever so slightly uncomfortable. My confidence in Jen is such that it was only slightly shaken by her comment as we travelled to the casino that "mmmmm, my hair smells of bacon." I have wittered on for far too long so I will join Dana to catch as much of the opening drama as possible. Good luck everyone. May the force be with you! *(Pretentious euphemism for donk) Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: JungleCat03 on January 17, 2008, 02:58:38 PM I am currently typing up a full and frank listing of the table seating configuration for your perusal and general enjoyment. This will follow shortly...
Meanwhile I have news of the aforementioned Ms Mason and her crazy antics. She was seen raising a bet from her table partner and neighbour Chris Cousins from 600 to 1200 on the turn of a Q-T-8-T board. He flat called and on the 7c river, he checked, and Jen also checked behind. Chris tabled T-8 for a spiffing full house whilst Jen mucked, looking slightly crestfallen and drawing on her reserves of pork-scented hair for comfort. "I should have bet the river!" said Chris somewhat chirpily, as he stacked up his new chips. "You played it well betting out with the house" offered Jen generously. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 02:58:47 PM Well, we've been having some interesting times with the internet connection (my Mac is apparently not Blessed By God, as I previously assumed), but that's ok as it has been a fairly typical early-stages sort of thing so far. The board was claiming 10 minutes in that there had been nine exits already, but I think that was a lie, unless they all went in the first minute and shamefully slunk off, so let's assume for the moment that the board was fraudulent.
Things that have been happening are that Red Dog is being bullied. First hand he called a raise with J-9 and bet out 500 on the Jack-high flop, but then laid it down to a 1200 raise. Down 1000 chips on the first hand; ouch. "I'm building my image," says he. Meanwhile Jen has also lost a fairly sizeable pot (Rod has details) which doesn't bode well for my 1%. Come on my 1%! Obviously many other hands have been played but I've yet to see a big one happen among the largely-random-but-dotted-with-familiar-faces field. We have a player list in paper format, so we'll be laboriously typing that up any day now. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: JungleCat03 on January 17, 2008, 03:42:08 PM Here is the full player list and seat numbers. Alex Martin will likely be playing in a firestorm with this list of players out there....
They include World Heads Up runner up, the baby faced Dan Carter, Adam Stoneham, who has posted lots of consistent results, the fiery Irishman and blondite Mick McCool, the braceleted Hit Squadder Praz Bansi, Laurence Houghton and of course...the one and only long standing cheesy capital radio DJ "DR" Neil Fox. Actually I am not 100% sure that Neil Fox is the infamous capital radio DJ, or just someone sharing his name but I am off to investigate right now... While I was lurking at his table, I accidentally chanced upon, I mean, I employed my massive updating skill and sought out a rare early exit - a preflop raising war between Noah-Boeken-style-horror-hoodie-wearing Joshua Tyler (down on the list as James for some reason) and tablemate Lawrence Spencer. On their backs, Joshuames had Ahrt Ks and Lawrence was holding Qd Qc . Board - Kc ("here we go..." says Lawrence) 4d 4h 8h Jd "I warned him at the very beginning of the tournament not to get involved with me," says Joshuames, which seems a little unfair, but he is now table chip leader. Lawrence took it well and is now drinking beer. Good man. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: JungleCat03 on January 17, 2008, 04:09:13 PM I had a quick chat with Julian, who is always very amiable and he was quick to congratulate me on the result from the press tournament. "Thanks very much" said I before inquiring as to his progress...
"It's a slow start for me, managed to donk off a quarter of my stack, well maybe not donk off...[he quickly corrected himself].... I'm plodding away though, plodding's under-rated!" (I sense he may have been hanging around with Paul Jackson a bit too much recently perhaps...) Jen is not looking too happy and in need of a pep talk during the upcoming break which she shall duly receive. She is sitting on about 6 and a half thousand. "It's slow progress but not in the right direction..." she mused slightly morosely. I may have to lecture her later on misuse onf the word progress but for now I will concentrate my energies during the break on raising her spirits. The blind structure still gives her plenty of room to manoeuvre (I can never spell that word) out of her current sticky predicament... Tom Mcready told me that Jim Reid had just provided a choice quote for him. "He says I'm playing too loose, playing too many hands!" "Yes" agreed Jim, seemingly shocked at the brazenly aggressive style of Red Dog today... "He's played 5 hands in the first 2 levels!" That's it for 10 minutes folks. We're on a break. Back very soon.... Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: JungleCat03 on January 17, 2008, 04:28:31 PM Had a quick chat with Hitsquadder Sunny Chattha during the break.
"How's it going Sunny?" "Yeah, not bad, up to 11,000...slow and steady progress, that's how I'm playing it" Meanwhile I have been informed of a significant elimination. Winner of last year's Walsall GUKPT, Jerome Bradpiece has met his match. He called a raise with Q-Q, slowplaying his big pair for value and once the flop came 6 high the chips flew in. Unfortunately, he found his (currently unknown) assailant holding the dominating K-K and was unable to spike a required lady, meaning he joins the crowded rail with the rest of us... Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 04:41:23 PM Tales from the break and beyond:
Neil Channing is OUT - apparently he somehow got himself all in massively behind, on a one-outer, I believe. Oops. Ericstoner was down to 6.9k but is now back up to 11k. He saw a Nine-high flop with Jacks and bet out, but come the river there ere four hearts on the board and he checked to his opponent's check. His opponent was holding a Nine with no hearts, and Brendan seemed to be torturing himself a bit about checking the river, but fair enough, say I. Red Dog is up to 20k. After, in his words, "pissing about in a load of pots" and showing terrible hands at the end, he called a 400 preflop raise with pocket Tens. The flop came A-T-T and he got himself in a raising war with the original raiser. Eventually on their backs, the other guy was holding A-K and Red Dog's full house held up, taking him up to about 14k. He has since been abusing his new chipped-up position to bully everyone else, and is up to 20k. Greg Howard is on around 7k, for those enquiring. Alex Martin is down to around 5.5k - I'm afraid I don't know what happened. By the way Mr Moorman, we have a Stephen Eames on the list - is he the same as your John Eames? We do have a few mistakes on the list. No other Eames apparent... Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 04:46:33 PM Mike Ellis is OUT, with A-J I am told.
Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 05:12:01 PM We're down to 116 runners. Among those now OUT are Ashley (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=39) Hayles (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=39) who moved in over the top of Jen Mason's A-J with A-7. The beginnings of a comeback for my 1%! Go my 1%! Also Terry Plumber is gone, holding Ts Js against William (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=960) Hill (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=960) starlet Julian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) Thew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225)'s Pocket Rockets. There was a Ten on the board, and two spades somewhere along the line, but actually I have no idea at what point the chips went in nor how many spades were out then. Also lurking around the cash desk, presumed OUT, is Willie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=450) Tann (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=450).
Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 05:17:17 PM Also OUT is Scott Chaudhry, who moved all in on an 8s Ts 9s flop. Ross Campbell dwells up, doing a funny clicky thing with his jaw, and he seems to be in real pain. Eventually he calls.
Scott Chaudhry - 6h 7h Ross Campbell - Ks Kd Turn - Qc River - oooohhhhh - 7s "'Orrible," says Chaudhry and leaves. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: JungleCat03 on January 17, 2008, 05:56:33 PM I grabbed a few words with Alex (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1198) Martin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1198) who agreed with my earlier assessment that he was indeed at a strong table.
"I made a bad start losing some chips earlier" he told me and leaned in to whisper quietly "but then I got it back bluffing Praz off a hand! tee hee!" Ok, I admit I am using a bit of poetic licence with Alex's exact words and he may possibly not have said "tee hee!" but he definitely had a mischievous glint in his eye... He currently has roughly his starting stack of 10,000. Here he is, striking what he told me was a fearsome pose. (http://www.blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=7847&g2_serialNumber=1) Clearly Jen is not the only one taking liberties with the English Language today. (http://www.zombi.dk/images/big_gallery/169a.jpg) No doubt Vicky (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=449) Coren (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=449)'s hordes of male poker admirers will find this photo, and in particular, the article Vicky was snapped reading, most intriguing... I threatened to photoshop donkey ears onto him but considering the phenomenal start to 2008 Chris has had, I doubt if he was particularly bothered by my toothless threats (especially as I am rubbish at photoshopping!) Here is the donkey himself... He raised to 500 preflop from UTG+1 and was called by the amusingly nicknamed Paul "The Lemon" Murrell in the cutoff. The flop came down Ts 6s 3s and Ian got involved in a bit of banter. "Got any spades mate? What are you planning on doing?" "If you check, I'm betting!" announced "The Lemon" "In that case I'd better bet!" said Ian before firing 1500 into the pot. The Lemon sighed then bitterly folded, giving Ian a sharp acidic stare..."I think you've got a big spade" he said," .......should have let me hang myself!" he responded fruitily. Ian flipped over the rather sweet Ks Kc, happily sweeping up chips, leaving Paul citric to the stomach. I'm sorry for the above puns but Dana has put me on pun-tilt, temporarily blinding my good taste facility. After sweeping up that pot, Ian looks to have around 15-16k in his stack, progressing nicely and continuing the hot form he showed in 2007... Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 06:27:51 PM Michael Denton is currently chip leader on Table 7 with a Big Ol' Stack, to be precise. But things may be changing! I understand that My One Percent, Ms Jennifer Mason, has just doubled up with a pair of Queens. Go my 1%! Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 06:38:07 PM Meanwhile Red Dog is sharing a table with Iam Woodley and Ross Campbell.
On another table, Praz says he has been "up and down" - currently slightly up. Alex Martin was on 8.5k last I checked; now looking cheerful in the queue for the buffet. Apparently I just missed quads twice on their table. They promised to call me next time it happened. And again on that actionful table, I saw Leon Campbell raise to 600 preflop, called by Adam Stoneham. Adam checks the 9c 2c Jc flop and Leon moves in for maybe 4k. Adam folds. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: JungleCat03 on January 17, 2008, 08:33:12 PM Yes vodaphone have restricted access as mentioned, possibly as retribution for Dana's complete thieving of my puns, although this has yet to be confirmed.
HOWEVER, strangely our vodaphone card IS working so although our coverage is slightly crippled we are still able to bring you the latest exciting developments - HOORAY!!!! Here are some of those... First off, I bring you news of Vicky (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=449) Coren (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=449)'s elimination. Her table is unfortunately rather discretely positioned away in the corner, making access quite difficult so I have no information on how she became relatively short but short she was. I did see how her final few chips went in though. Holding T-4 she called a reraise allin from a mateyboy on a T63 flop only to find herself in bad shape vs Q-Q. A 7 on the turn gave her a few more outs, but a blank river arrived to send Vicky sadly crashing to the rail. Next, I'll just elaborate slightly on Jen's double up. She had raised preflop and received a call from the resident maniac at her table who is also one of the chip leaders (Michael Denton I beleive). On a 4h Jh 9s flop, Jen pushed all her chips (4.5k ish, pot was 3k) over the line and was ultimately called by Michael who was holding a rather surprising K-4 for bottom pair! Jen had Q-Q but needed to avoid a bad beat, which she did in style as the turn adn river came 9-9 to give her a superior full house to Michael. Back to 12k she was last seen wolfing down fishcakes in the dinner break to renew her strength... Mickey (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) Wernick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) is on about 4k, Red-Dog about 22k. Nick Persaud has just doubed up, holding J-4 on a J-4-8 flop all the chips went in versus M Hill's K-K and Hill's cowboys were left sorer than a man who's just spent the night on Brokeback mountain with Flushy. Nick on the other hand is up to roughly 35k... Full chip counts from the end of leve 4 to follow... I saw Jim "bookiebasher" Moult get himself crippled "playing a flush draw a bit heavy" against a set of Threes - no flush and he was very low. A minute or two later and the bookie has been well and truly bashed and is reduced to chatting to Kev at the rail. :( Also OUT is Mr K "probably no relation to Joshua" Taylor, all in preflop with Nines against Mr Alin "All-in!" Rapoport's pocket Jacks. A short-stacked Dervis "He really really does look like my drummer Tim, Jen thinks so too" Ozkarapinar was seen angrily moving all in on a Jack-high board, but was uncalled. Still in, as far as I know. 83 players remain today. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 09:33:13 PM Apologies for the no-updates-for-ages-then-loads-at-once nature of the updates right now, we are down to one slow-connecty laptop between us, which is lame.
Anyway, I have Seen Many Things. Jen Mason bets out 1800 on a 6h Jc 7d flop and Ian Cox calls. Now Martin William to Cox's left moves all in. Jen dwells up. She folds. Ian dwells up. He calls! William - 8d 9h Cox - 9c 7c Turn - 4h River 4c And Martin William and his excellent stripy tank top thing are OUT. Jen wouldn't tell me what she had out loud, but it was most likely better than a Seven and worse than a Jack. I'm guessing Tens. Or Nines. Or Eights. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 09:40:45 PM Jen apparently can't play a hand without someone moving all in on her ass. As it were.
A large pot has formed and the below gent, one Paul Garrad on the list but he asked me to tell the blonde world that his name is actually Dale, moves in, the board reading Qc Ks 3h Kc 5d. Jen folds, eventually. She looks like an angry puppy now. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 09:46:21 PM Jeff Buffenbarger has a Big Ole Stack, maybe 50k or so. Alex Martin says he's playing really well. And if Alex Martin says so, it must be true.
A double-up for young Lee Redmond, who looks like a less world-weary Matt Dale I think. He's still only on 7k or so. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: JungleCat03 on January 17, 2008, 10:07:09 PM Red Dog approached me to tell me "Ah've lost 3 fahv K pots in a rou-oond!" (I've lost three five thousand chip pots in a round) He is not happy about this, although possibly he may be more perturbed by my phonetic interpretation of his accent! (I'll find out later I guess...) Julian and Josh have been swapping chips. Julian related he had lost a hefty 10k chunk to Josh. Josh overheard this and piped in, in his unimitable way "I made a GREEEEATTT call....and you can quote me on that!" So I am. But Josh's big stack has taken some hits too. "I've lsot about 22k", losing a flip with 3-3 v Ah Kh when the board double paired, then losing a pot to Julian when Julian hit an ace on the river after betting all the way and Josh calling... He's still on roughly 27k but was a little disappointed not to be up there with the chip leaders. "It's a good structure though Josh, still in good shape" was the best platitude I could muster at the time, to which he agreed. Just before the break two of the notable shortstacks, Pete (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=346) Singleton (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=346) and Dan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=86) Carter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=86) were allin. Firstly Pete was allin with A-Q, racing against his opponent's 2-2 and hitting on a board of 6-7-K-Q-7 to augment his dwindling stack... Then it was Dan's turn, getting allin with K-Q versus his opponent's T-8. "I've got live cards!" yelled his opponent enthusiastically, no doubt happy after finding his fingers caught in the till but a board of J-5-3-2-4 brought no surprises and brought a welcome double up for Dan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=86) Carter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=86). Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 10:26:34 PM My One Percent, formerly known as Jen Mason, has doubled up!
Ian Cox made it 1600 and the American dude two seats to Jen's right below whose name we think is probably Sacha Rosewood made it 4800. Jen called and Ian got out of the way. Flop - 8s 7s 8h and I am fairly sure that Jen open-shoved for 9600. With much giggling, Sacha Rosewood (ID confirmation, anyone?) called. Jen - Ac As Sacha - um, Ad Qs Turn and river respectively - 5c - 2d I now have One Percent of 28k. First off, two gentlemen I didn't recognise (but one of which I think was Mehrdad Saffari) exchanged raises preflop and Mehrdad Saffari, the erstwhile chipleader had obviously lost much of his early stack as he found himself ALLIN with his KQ versus the 8-8 of his opponent. Unfortunately, for him, he failed to hit and after a promising start Saffari found it's a jungle out there as he joined the rail... Next up Ian Cox raised on the button to 1800, and after his opponent Sasha Rosewood asked him for a count, he reraised anohter 8k or so. Ian felt that Sasha was at it and moved in for his last 7k-ish and Sasha called him. Ian's intuition was correct, as he found his A-7 to be ahead of Sasha's Ks-9s. A flop of 6-9-8 brought hope to both players although it was a bad one for Ian, and the 4 turn and 6 river failed to produce the straight or ace he required meaning, despite a brave and well judged move, Ian's tournament was over. "Unlucky mate, well played" I offered in consolation and put my hand out in customary mode. Ian got up from his seat and as he shook my hand, I felt the bones beginning to bend under his granite grip suggesting he was perhaps not 100% with the way his tournament ended!.... "I had a feeling he was at it" he told me grumpily as he departed. Even the golden boys have bad days I guess! Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 11:32:37 PM You're doing a great job! I refuse to cheer anyone on because it's an insta bok every time, but am quietly delighted with progress of the unmentionables. Shhh! Just thinking about them can send them weeping to the rail! Hopefully you're not secretly rooting for Sunny Chattha, because he is long gone. I didn't see him go, but Julian Thew called me over "because this needs to be made public". It seems he moved in with pocket Sevens on a 9-9-4 flop and found a caller in Joe Grech holding A-4, but a King on the turn and another on the river counterfeited Sunny out of what was rightfully, statistically-likely-ly his. Ouch. Better luck those who have been secretly rooting for Stephen Basri, as he's just doubled up courtesy of Sasha ROsewood in the old painful-for-guy-with-Kings Aces versus Kings confrontation. Aces hit a set on the river for good measure, a metaphorical final finger up at Rosewood's Kings. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 11:36:28 PM Mr C Bunton, who has awesome hairdo that sadly didn't come out in the photo I took but am now withholding, min-raised utg only for Dave Clark to shove for 15k. Bunton folded fairly sharply. I think I saw a Deuce as he folded...
Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 11:41:07 PM Not sure exactly what happened. I think what happened was that Mark Bointon shoved and Conan Bailey called. The reason I'm not sure is that Bointon had Aces and Conan (CONAN!!!!) had A-J. He was giggling a lot as he made his fairly predictable exit, so possibly that's exactly what happened. Sorry, Conan fans. It's barbaric, really.
CONAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 17, 2008, 11:43:54 PM In reply to requests made a long long time ago:

I am ever so slightly scared... Anyway, first off we spoke to Jen in teh rbeak who was happy sitting on her stack of 26k, especially as the aggressive and dangerous Nik Persaud, with whom she had had some tangles had now left her table. This news has since been superceded though as Jen was involved in a big pot. After some betting preflop and on the flop, Jen's opponent in the hand, Nathan Lee, moved in on a 7c 8s Th Thc board to receive an instant call from Jen. Jen showed the flopped nuts-tastic J-9, whilst Nathan was banking on hitting a club with his Kc-6c. The river.....BLANKED, meaning Ms Mason received a big boost to her stack which is sitting in the 45k region now. Go Jen! Josh Tyler is doing well. After the table break, he moved to join a freshly constructed table, which Alex Martin wasn't too happy about, seeing as Josh was sitting on the button to his big blind. The fact Josh had in the region of 70k, which was so many they couldn't even fit all his chips on the table probably didn't help either! Dave Clarke revealed he had about 20k in the break. "Ah so you're sitting comfortably" remarked Jen, taking a 5 minute break from her chip accumulation/ decimation antics..... "Not comfortably enough" said Dave with the barest hint of a veiled threat detectable in his voice...I'm glad I'm not on his table. Leon Campbell just doubled through against John Eames, his 7-7 holding versus John's 3-3. There was some confusion as the board read Td 2d 8s 2c Tc by the river and the dealer, who to be fair was being harrassed from all sides, decided this was a split pot and began to divide the chips up. Chaos held full dominion for a few moments whilst everyone threw their 2c in, further confusing the amount in the pot, but ultimately Leon doubled through to 12-13k or so... Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 18, 2008, 12:59:31 AM Atkinator fans I'm sorry, he's taken a huge hit. Owen Lock shoves and Atkin dwells and calls. His pocket Tens are drawing thin against Lock's Aces, and thinner when an Ace comes on the flop.
Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 18, 2008, 01:46:10 AM Yes yes indeed, play has finished for the night. James Atkins fans will be delighted to hear that he has made a Comeback and is now in second place somehow... Lots of other people are also still in, we'll have the chip counts with you later tonight, and please go right ahead and read our Daily Tournament Report over at William Hill, as soon as we've written it.
Until then, ;stickaforkinme; Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Brighton Day 1a: At-A-Glance Post by: danafish on January 18, 2008, 02:27:23 AM End of day chip counts from Mr Raab -
