Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 22, 2008, 08:43:14 PM Richie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374) Lawlor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374) is down to 12,500 (starting stack of 15,000) after running A-J into Pocket Kings on a J high Flop. Looks like Richie got away pretty cheaply in the end, just calling down each street and leaving himself with a more than playable stack.
----------- It took longer than expected (the Guinness not flowing as much as usual today), but our first notable all-in was from Dan Bolton, who pushed against Sideshow Bob on a Qc Jc 7c Qh board. Sideshow Bob folded, and Dan raked in a nice pot. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 22, 2008, 09:36:34 PM Paddy Dooley just called a 1,600 bet on a Qd Jd Ac 2c Qh board after calling 500 on the Turn. Nemesis Damien Kent showed K-T for the flopped straight and the pot.
----------- Still awaiting our first exit of the day, there is an all-in on one table with Aiden O'Hara's set of threes in great shape against Anthony Lynch's American Airlines on a 5-8-3 Flop. A Queen Turn and Ten River mean that O'Hara doubles up to 25,000, still leaving us with our original 124 players. ---------- Player Gone!!!!!!!! Short stack Patrick Burke raises from from the cut-of to 450, Eddie Gorman Re-raises from BB to 1500 and Patrick Burke goes all-in for 4600. Gorman calls. Burke Ac 6c Gorman Kd Kh No clubs or aces and Patrick Burke (pictured earlier with his happy team-mates) is our first elimination Elsewhere Jimmy Kenny has recieved a timely double up with that nice hand Ahrt Ac. Getting it all in pre/flop Kenny was delighted to see his dejected opponent flip Kc Kh. No miracle King and the cooler (birrrrrrrr) is complete. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 22, 2008, 10:38:33 PM Moments before the break, Derry O'Sullivan won a nice pot with Pocket Queens on a 9s Th 7s Qc 5d. His opponent called 3k on the River with Qs Js to leave Derry as happy as Larry, whoever this mystical Larry character might be.
---------- Gary Power is short (in chips and height), but he just doubled up his shortstack with A-K versus Fives, a King on the Turn saving his bacon and leaving him with circa 3k. ---------- Early pace setter Dan Bolton has taken a hit. He called a 4k River bet from Matt Dobbins on a Tc 6d 9s 5c 8h, but could only tap the table in defeat when his foe turned over 9c 9d. As a result, Dan if back down to 19k. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 22, 2008, 11:21:47 PM Ian Whitty is at his er... wits end, having become only the second person to exit the Team Event, his Pocket Sixes on a 9-4-4 Flop in a spot (well, it was more of a crater really) of bother against Paddyboy's Pocket Nines.
Mick Stephens 12,000 Nicky Power 12,200 Carl O' Donnell 24,000 Wes Farrell 12,900 Tony Baitson 11,400 (with 3000 in 100 blacks chips-keep stealing those blinds!) Derry O Sullivan 9,800 Vera Duffy 21,100 Pat Storan 13,400 Mick Doran 11,600 Bomber Nolan 13,800 Richie Lawlor 10,800 Dan Bolton 25,000 Keith Cummins 10,500 Sideshow Bob 4,900 Connie O' Sullivan 10,200 Albert Kenny 17,000 Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 22, 2008, 11:35:50 PM Bobby O'Donnell is out.
Teammate Pat Kenneally, meanwhile, is fairing similarly poorly, his 3.6k call on the River of a Kd Ts 6h Qs 5c board being swiftly met by Richie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374) Lawlor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374)'s Ac Jh. There was one of those awkward post-morten pauses as Pat seemed hesitant to muck, the silence eventually broken when someone observed, "I'm assuming he hasn't got A-J then." I think Pat was right be a tad stunned though, as he had Aces and obviously didn't expect them to be beat, even if his final call on the river did appear to be a painful, and almost reluctant one. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 22, 2008, 11:51:54 PM Craig Smith and Padraic Kavanagh are both OUT.
Your current chip leader is Kieran Walsh, currently bearing a smile wider than a Cheshire Cat on widescreen with just under 60,000. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 12:14:04 AM The fortures of team Sideshow has got, well, eh......... betworse. That is things are looking both up, and down, eh, if you know what I mean.... Okay okay I'll explain my nonsence.
We already reported Flipper was rocking with the best of them with his near chip lead stack, but now he has gone and taken the outright chip lead! Flipper is now very much the shark with 60,000 in chips. (http://www.irvinehousingblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/03/flipper.jpg) Elsewhere however Sideshow Bob has been eliminated. Pushing all-in with Ts 8h generally isnt considered the wisest of moves and things didn't change today. Called by Dan Bolton with Jh Kd the high cards held. As you can see things are looking betworse for team Sideshow (http://animatedtv.about.com/library/graphics/sideshowbob.jpg) Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 12:46:41 AM After a slow start in which it took almost four 45 minute levels to lose one player, they're now dropping like lemmings on a tightrope, the latest player to lose balance being Seamus Birt, his A-K on a 2-K-Q-9-8 board in all kinds of trouble against Sean O'Sullivan's Pocket Cowboys. Yeeeeehaaaaaa ;snoopy'sguns; ;hattip;
--------- Pat Storm and Gary Power have also been spotted around the rail, which either means they have super human players which mean they can move their chips and cards without being at their seat or, possibly more likely, they are out. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 12:50:57 AM Recently spotted in sniper mode is the wonderfully named Chris Frisby, who just threw Aiden O'Hara out of the room, when the latter found himself all-in with 6s-5s against Kh-Tc on a 4s-Ts-2c. The 5c Turn created more outs than a cricket match, but none of them arrived when the River dealt out the Kc.
Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: rag2gar on February 23, 2008, 12:52:15 AM The latest chip counts from Waterford:
Vera Duffy 11,200 John Weafer 4,800 Lorcan "the milkybarkid" Dooley 18,100 Joe Gallagher 29,000 Wes Farrell 18,200 Kevin Corr 15,000 Pat Storan OUT Carl O Donnell 16,200 Tony Baitson 6,800 Flipper Walsh 56,000 Nicky Power 26,000 Mick Stephens 5,200 Eddie Gorman 38,000 Dave Masters 17,200 Mick Doran 22,100 Richie Lawlor 25,000 Tom Nolan 17,100 Sam Hayes 7,000 Connie O Sullivan 20,000 Alex Collier 10,000 John Weafer 6,775 Sean O Sullivan 14,400 Damien Kent 12,925 Dan Bolton 32,000 Matt Dobbin 21,425 Derry O Sullivan 16,300 Butch Power 4,150 Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 01:06:23 AM With the Flop reading 5s-8h-4c, once chip daddy Carl O'Connell pushes all-in for around 10k, leaving a tortured Davvy O'Sullivan with a decision for both his 4.5k in chips and his entire tournament life. As Carl peers down at the felt, his stare frostier than a snowman in the freezer, Davvy unzips the think tank and jumps in. After a few moments, he pops his head back out, trickles his chips over the line and reveals Pocket Tens, his breath held whilst he awaits his opponent to flip over his cards. To his relief, Carl shows an inferior 6s-4s and Davvy is allowed to exhale the deep breath that he'd been holding. The 8c Turn was a constructive one for Davvy, his opponent's outs reduced to just a Four, and as the dealer popped out a harmless Kc on the River, he gently tapped the table in triumph and plonked himself back down in his seat. Karl, meanwhile, wore a face like a smacked bottom, or perhaps one who's fingers had been crunched in the poker cookie jar. Game on!
---------- Popular player John Quinn, who I believe cashed in both the Irish Open last year and November's blondepoker.com Waterford Autumn Festival, has just bitten dust on Table Bomber. All-in with 9d-7s on a 9c-7c-2c board, John was in need of full house to conquer Pat Keneally's Tc-2c, the 4c Turn and Js River providing no divine assistance. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: rag2gar on February 23, 2008, 01:27:18 AM Tony Baitson is the latest elimination from this evenings play. Defending champion and founder of team Flushdraw held
and made the initial raise on the button to 950 total. One caller on the BB meant two players saw a flop of The BB checks and Baitson bets 2200. The BB then moves in for 17,000 approx and Baitson calls. BB shows The turn brings a ending the day for the defending champ who's since gone to the bar. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 01:48:19 AM Some good fortune for one Mr David Brown, a nice Jacks verus Tens coo on a J-4-T Flop seeing his chip stack double. Mr Tens' shoulders dropped so low that he scraped his knuckles on the floor.
Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: rag2gar on February 23, 2008, 02:10:36 AM We have a new chip leader in the tournament in the form of Colm Reville. Having usurped Flipper's chip lead in a big coup, Nicky Power claims that Flipper's demise is every bit as dramatic as an Andy Black style blow up. Having gone from 90,000 to 10,000 in the space of 3 levels it would be hard to question the Power's judgement.
On a board of Colm Reville pushed all-in on the turn sparking a long dwell up from sir flipness. Then, suddenly, Flipper flung his chips into the pot like a man on a mission. In reality though it was a kamakaze mission for Walsh who was dominated. Walsh Reville Plenty of outs to the river for Flipper but unfortunatly for him the was no use. Needless to say Colm is now the one revilling with his 71,000 strong chip lead stack Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 02:23:44 AM Thomas 'The Bomber' Nolan is like a bowling ball going for it's hattrick of strikes, first doubling up to 5k, before his K-9 spiked a nine against A-Q to take him up to a nose-bleed inducing 11k. The bar manager was rooting for The Bomber for some reason.
----------- We're a Dave down, and to the relief of Masters, it's McArthy rather than him. All-in with Aces versus A-K, you'd think Masters would be pretty confident, but I hear he slowplayed the Bullets at the Irish Masters last year and was made to pay. Although Neill (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=674) Kelly (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=674) teased the room by announcing a T-J-Q Flop, the real Flop did provide four extra outs, the dealer throwing out T-5-J onto the felt to give McArthy a lifeline. However, it wasn't to be, and a Six and a King later and McArthy was a gonna. "And Masters takes it," exclaims Neill. "he decided not to slowplay them this time." ------------ Matt Dobbins has just felted Wes Farrell, Wes making a cheeky move on an A-A-T-T-K board but being called quicker than a jet propelled whippet by Dobbins' A-9. "He was bluffing big time," commented a neighbour to me. A hand or two later, and Wes, part of the winning team from last year, was gone. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 02:31:44 AM A big hand kicked off on the nearest table, Brian Stott re-raising Mick Stephen's pre-flop raise all-in. Mick called and showed 7h 7c, but Brian had him in the stocks with 9s 9h. Rotten fruit at the ready, Brian prepared to hurl his tomato, but was stopped in his tracks as Mick slipped out off his stocks and hit a set on the 7d Ts Jh Flop. Most shockingly, Margaret O'Mahony, who was understandably animated at the time, confessed to folding Pocket Jacks (ouch!). Anyhow, you have to be in it to win it (as a tantastic Dale Winton so often claims), and a Th and 2c later and it was a timely double up for Mick.
Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 02:58:40 AM The final whistle has now sounded, but before Neill Kelly inflated his lungs, we had a couple of all-ins, one of which came in the form of a double up for Robert Brennon, all-in with 8d 8c against John Weafer's Ac Tc and quietly willing a raggy board.
It's strange in poker how the players' body language can sometimes display confidence, or lack of, before any cards are dealt, as if they can somehow already sense the result. On this occasion, it was Weafer who seemed to be feeling the negative vibes, even though he had no reason to be doing so. With his face scrunched up and his body perched on the edge of the table, the dealer lay a Jd 5h Jh 3h 8s onto the felt, thereby giving Brennen a much needed double up. As a result, Weafer finishes the day with little over 5k. ------------- On the penultimate hand of the night, we also lost Eddie Gorman, his Kc 3h searching for a three against a dominating Ad Kd. A Ks 7s 4s Flop didn't change much accept give him a potential split pot with a runner runner flush, but the 9c Turn soon squashed that idea, before the Qc River finally sealed his fate. As he departed, I overheard him confess to a friend, "I didn't fancy coming back tomorrow with just ten big blinds".
