Post by: NoflopsHomer on March 02, 2008, 12:52:38 PM
Kev and I are back here, whilst the TV shows Newcastle losing to Blackburn in the last minute. Marvellous.

Full chip counts to follow for our remaining players to follow.

Play restarts at 2.30pm.

The Muppet has just wheeled through the door ... he gets barely 3 ft inside the building .... Then he starts ..... "I played this hand last night in the cash" ...  At that point I threw a couple of sugar cubes at him (they were the nearest thing to hand that wouldnt actually kill him when thrown) and flops had to be restrained from reaching into his wash bag for razor blades to self harm.

Its early, we are tired and tetchy ... give us til 3pm before talking bad beats pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasse ;)

I will be down for the end of the Liverpool game and for the PLO.

I will be adopting the liverpool strategy of playing out of position, distracted by off the felt valets issues and relying on the other team to score own goals.

Just had my Sunday lunch with Ironmug .... Let me tell you, the quality of the Sunday dinner more than made up for the lack of stimulating conversation ;)

Started with Leek and tatty soup ...10/10

Followed by Roast pork, all the trimmings including a Yorkshire pudding so big that a family of four could quite comfortably move into ... and the best crackling I have ever tasted  ....11/10

AND ... Sticky toffee pudding with the best custard I have ever tasted for dessert 12/10

Seriously, do yourselves a favour, next time you come to DTD, make sure you take some time out to have a meal in the restaurant ... you WONT regret it ... deffo compliments to the Chef & staff.

Pretty cagey start ... The run hot players seemingly continuing their streak .... Peter Charalaralaralarambousososos has found  Qh Qs and  Js Jh early doors and taking uncontested pots ... Micky Wernick has had  Qs Qh and  Aspades Ks re raising twice and taking both pots .

Tighty just looks on and settles himself for what might be a long stint at the table with some excercise, i walked past the table as he was going through his routine ... Up, 1,2,3 ... Down 1,2,3 ... then the other eyelid ;)

Red Dog has lost a few chips, he raised to 7k from cut-off and Marios Charalambous called from the small blind.

Ad 6h Td

Marios instantly pushed, Red folds with a sigh.

Andreas Andersson, Red Dog and Mickey Wernick, modelling various hand-on-chin poses.

Mick Fletcher has gone ... he shoved a short stack in with  9d 8d and was obv. instacalled by M Reeve with  Ad Ac ... flop was an railtastic Tc 7s  Ahrt  meaning the interest of the spectators was full on

the turn brought the Ace busting  Js

But as is often the will of that sick puppy with a even sicker sense of humour who goes by the name of the "poker God", the river flips the Fletcher exiting  7d

Playerrrrrrr downnnnnnn.

Martin Reeve raises to 6k from early position, Rob Allen pushes for about 31k from mid-position, Darshan Sami tanks it before passing. Back to Reeve who thinks about for a while, asking, "Can you beat Ace King?"

Eventually, with a 130k or so stack, he calls and shows a perhaps surprising Ahrt Jh. Allen shows Qs Qc.

Qd 6h Kc 6d Kh

Darshan Sami cries out in anguish, saying he passed Ace King, "I was thinking it was a great pass after the flop..."

He can imagine a bit more pie now, he's just doubled through the birthday boy Red-Dog, whose Kh Jd was in bad shape against Allen's Jh Js and even more so after the case Jack came down on the flop. Red down to LOL shoveaments, roughly 14-15k.

CK Le just lost a 40k pot to Andreas Andersson, firing out two bullets on the flop and turn of a J-6-x-x-x board, the Swede called him down with Nines which was good against the Six in Le's hand. Le still has about 80k though, Andersson, an estimated 200k+ and Martin Wendt-sized headphones.

Matt 'Birdie' Cox -- 100k.

Red is our bubble bubbler.

Swedish Dave Gorman Andreas Andersson raised to 8.5k on the button. Red pushed for 28k and getting 2-1, Andreas made the call with Kh 4h. Red showed Aspades Tc.

Board:

3h 8h 9d 4s 9h

Red out in 19th. Andreas now has an uber-balla huge stack now.

Any way he tables  Td 7d

as the cards came over it looked like an amazing call ...

 Th Ks 7c

But we all knew what was coming ...

Turn  Jc

Mistake it was actually Paul Lammas who was knocked out with the Fours vs Aces vs Queens

David Barnett had actually moved before being moved back into Red's old seat.

David Barnett just raised to 13k, Pat Kelley raised to 30k, back to Barnett who instantly moved in for about 60k total. Kelley made the call with Jh Js but made the face of someone stuck in a crowded left who has just smelt a pretty digusting fart, when Barnett showed Kd Kc.

Board: 9d 7s Td 2s 6c

Still on the bubble...

Keith Johnson just got very lucky.

Having got re-raised the previous hand by Andreas Andersson, who has been playing a big stack very well. Keith raises to 11k. CK Le calls from the big blind and then moves all-in on the 8d 7d 4h flop, Keith Johnson lets out a deep sigh and his shoulders' drop and calls with a complete air of resignation...

CK Le: Td 8s

Keith Johnson: Ahrt 7h

Turn: 6d

River: 5h

Raynor flips Ad Th, dismay for the Welshman, who turns over Kd Td

The sheer size and presence of Marshall's stack, has completely changed the dynamic of the final table. All the other players have completely retreated into their shells, due to the fact that Marshall's stack takes up nearly a quarter of the table. We've had a couple of walks for some of the players, something that probably wouldn't have happened maybe an hour. Although he hasn't done so yet, Marshall could really go for the throat now by raising or re-raising most pots and pushing the others about, knowing that none of them really can push back without a hand due to the size of the blinds. If a couple of the other players do double through him though, then maybe we might get a level of competitiveness that has, as of the moment, disappeared from the final table.

Followed by Roast pork, all the trimmings including a Yorkshire pudding so big that a family of four could quite comfortably move into ... and the best crackling I have ever tasted  ....11/10

AND ... Sticky toffee pudding with the best custard I have ever tasted for dessert 12/10

Then Dwells some more

Then dwells a bit longer

The 10 min break clock is ticking away .... its now on 7 minutes ... I'm gagging for a smoke.

He dwells a bit longer

I start searching around the table for a sharp implement ...

He dwells ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

If the rough counts are correct, and Nicholas Marshall does have 1.2 million with 500k or so shared between the rest. The blinds being 6k/12k with a 1k ante, so 25k in before each hand, is it close for Marshall to basically start shoving most hands if it's folded to him?

Anyone care to do the math(s)?

Pete Charalombos moves in for 156k. Swedish Dave Gorman Andreas Andersson moves in behind him, Garinder Purewal thinks for ages from the small blind and passes Queens.

Pete shows 9c 9d, Swedish Dave has Ac Ks.

Aspades Ts 9h 5c 6s is the board and Garinder is more happy than most. Pete onto 300k, Swedish Dave Gorman down to just 60k.

This 60k goes in next hand with Q-T against Nicholas Marshall's K-J, the board comes out J-Q-Q-x-x and our lone Scandie gets back up to 120k.

Good luck Mickey 'Internet Player' Wernick!

He may be seen as more of an old school live player by most, but he's a highly accomplished online player too, putting in at least 30 hours a week unless he's away on tour. Last week he took down a $50,000 guaranteed freezeout. A couple of years ago he has qualified online for the World Series and he has also won his way into various other live events. He joked last week that he's almost more of an internet player than a live player these days. Still needs help turning on the computer though...

One wonders how Keith Johnson is still in at this point, he has 65k/4BB's at this point, as he has done probably for the last two hours...

But fair play, he's sticking around.

PLAYER DOWN

Nick raises pre to 50k

Keith Johnson calls the raise leaving only 32k back

(stop and go obv.)

Flop
 2s Jh Qs

As predicted (just call me mystic Kev) Keith insta pushes his remaining 32k over the line ...

Nick Marshalll dwells ... Im sscreaming CALL its a stop and go (in my head of course, im psychic not daft ;) )

he eventually calls showing  Td Tc and Keith shows  Ad 6d

turn  9h

River   4d

And we lose Keith Johnson in 6th place he takes away a healthy £2,295 for his weekends work.

Nick Markshall raises to 55k from UTG, Swedish Dave moves in from the button, Nick passes Ac Th, Swedish Dave shows Aspades Qs, it's all very friendly here...

Nick then raises from the small blind and Pete surprisingly just flat calls the 50k raise, leaving himself only 110k behind, which looks very strong...

8h Js Tc

Nick, perhaps unsettled by the flat-call, effectively waves the white flag and checks and Pete instantly pushes. Nick folds. It's all becoming a lot more close in terms of stack-sizes and position...

A deal based on the chip count has been verbally agreed. They're just counting stacks to see who 'officially' wins. Suffice to say I think everyone gets at least £6,000.

Details to follow.

Thoroughly enjoyed my second DTD update ... I may be back next month, I suppose it depends on whether the Norkage pics and The Tattoo and hair pics merit another chance :D

Hope you enjoyed the updates and next month lets hope the blonde bubble becomes a distant memory.

PLO results (top 4 paid)

10th Claw
9th El Blondie
8th (me) Neeko
7th Dingdell
6th TJ
5th Ironside
4th Dave Clayton
3rd Richeo
2nd Lucy Rokach
1st Chin Chai Koh

I guess the blonde's listed have real names and the 3 named may even be blonde's as well. Given that PLO is an action game i am not sure how i managed to fold my way to 8th, serious strategy error - me thinks. Claw raced into an early chip lead but was unfortunate to run into Lucy who was betting into Claire's Aces and FD that was looking bleak on a straightening river, then ran flopped FH into flopped quads.

Given there was only 28 starters that included El Blondie, Aces, Paul Jackson and Lucy Rokach - it was not exactly a weak field but great fun. The next 321 weekend that i am free (prob July) i will be back.
