Good luck to all the Blondes playing today. A big thank you for some great FREE updating from both of the Day 1's. I've got a sneaky feeling that Mr Punkfloyd Conroy is going to plod towards the final table today. Also Ian Crapper Cox appears to have a nice starting table. Oh yeah I nearly forgot..........thanks for the norkage yesterday more more please.

 :hello: people.

The tournament is bubbling up nicely as we await the start of Day 2.

Lots of great players remain. Jen and Maria's table looks very exciting with the devilfish in tow. Feathers aplenty will be rustled there I suspect!

Julian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) Thew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) has negotiated his way through to the latter stages once more and if he can get a few chips going, will clearly be a threat for the title. Ditto Jim (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=599) Reid (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=599), who is following up on his final table appearance in Brighton and who also has the game to run deep and possibly taste victory.

Former 2007 Walsall GUKPT winner Jerome (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199) Bradpiece (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199) strolled laconically through the day yesterday but accelerated through the last few levels in imperious fashion to find himself returning today as the clear chip leader. Whether he can equal Julian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) Thew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225)'s impressive feat of winning 2 GUKPT titles remains to be seen.

Last year's winner Leo (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1418) Kam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1418) is still in there, although with a 20k stack, he will need to  ;slavedriver; fairly quickly. Many other seasoned campaigners remain including maltese Joe (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=205) Grech (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=205), who also finalled in Brighton, the laid back Willie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=450) Tann (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=450), and hendon mobster Barney Boatman.

The opening action is traditionally quite hectic, so I'm off to join Snoopy and Dana to catch all the thrills and spills of the start.

Barney Boatman raises it up to 3.2k from early position, only to find Steve Jelinek moving allin behind him for what looked to be 22-25k.

No drama here though as Barney folded pretty quickly and Steve showed a pair of Queens.

"Eights" said Barney. "You overplayed them" Steve told him as they rib each other have a laugh.

Just for your delectation, here are the likely final table payouts...

1) £119,780
2)  £69,960
3)  £50,880
4)  £33,920
5)  £26,000
6)  £20,140
7)  £15,900
8)  £12,720
9)   £9,540

As the action folds round to the Devilfish in the small blind, the all-singing all-guitar playing all-woman-wooing Hullian made it up 2,200 before being looked up by Dave Rudling in the big. On the Td 9d Qs Flop, the Devilfish check-called 3,200 before check calling, once again, 7,600 on the 7h Turn. An 8h on the River triggered a 12k bet from Devilfish, which led to a swift all-in from Dave Rudling for 20,200 more. Devilfish didn't look particularly happy about it, but called nonetheless, announcing "I have a Jack" in the process whilst quietly praying that his opponent hadn't hit the nuts. However, as you can see from the amusing expression on the 'Fish's face, Rudling did indeed have the nuts, his Kd Jc for the Flopped straight leaving the Devilfish with not only 20k in chips, but also a face like a firmly smacked bottom, and understandably so. "I had Q-J," revealed a disgruntled Devilfish.

Jen is taking no nonsense from the Fish. Mr Ulliott bets out 3k on a 7s Qh Kh flop. Preflop limper John Burberry gets out of the way, and Jen raises to 8k. Devilfish folds with the minimum of fuss, claiming, "I got a Seven, guess that's no good..."

As I standby at Table Jen awaiting the impending fireworks, Chili mouths something incomprehensible from a distance. After I shook my head cluelessly, she leaped out of her chair like a dolphin on a trampoline and raced over to the rail. "Quick, quick," she said. "Get a photo of me with the Devilfish before he gets knocked out." Not one to argue or disobey the commands of a woman, I inevitably obliged and this is the result...

I'm afraid Nick Gibson is OUT. The hand that made the biggest dent was an unfortunate Nines versus Aces encounter with Nik Stylianou, the 2-K-8-2-3 rainbow board offering no help.

There's around 40k in the pot and a board that reads Kd 4h Jc Qh when I wander over to Table Tann/Colclough/Bradpiece/Kam/etc, and James Sudworth has moved in for another 11k or so. Anthony Quinn dwells long enough to have the clock threatened, if not actually called on him, and during this prodigious pause, we actually manage to miss the exit of John Gardner on the next table along, so focused are we on waiting for Quinn's decision. Everyone else at the table is looking bored, except for Willie Tann, who's standing up and looks really angry. Even the all-in Sudworth has sort of lost interest and is chatting to Anthony Chapman next to him.

Anyway, while we grow old, Quinn calls.

Anthony Quinn -  Aspades Qs
James Sudworth - Ks Qd

Absolutely no help for Quinn from the Kc river, and James Sudworth has doubled up.

Shortly before the departure of Devilfish (table now re-christened Table Jen, seeing as Chili has been moved to Table 9; otherwise I would obviously have re-christened it Table Hot Blonde Girl-On-Girl Action), a double-up for John Burberry. I think what may have happened (missed the very earliest part of the hand) is that Ashley Gorman raised and then Burberry re-raised, leaving himself around 13.5k behind. Gorman re-raised all in to cover him, and after a surprising amount of dwellage, Burberry called.

John Burberry - Jc Jh
Ashley Gorman -  Aspades Ks

Board - 4h 7c Th 3h Qd

Gorman is down to just 13k or so.

Big Joe Grech has eliminated the shortstacked Mark Segal. Joe's hoding of T-T was crushing the A-5 of Mark and   a Q-6-T-Q-5 flop only further cemented the dominance of Joe's hand, sending Mark off to the rail.

Joe has seen it all in poker and quietly swept the chips neatly into his stack.

Many people would slow down after winning a pot, but Joe was straight back on the attack, raising it up to 3.2k before the stripily shirted Niall Charlton pushed for 20k or so.

Joe began a muttered monologue to himself at this point.

"Big raise, big raise, hmmm. What have you got? You're very quiet. Do you think I'm ahead?"

"Depends what you've got" was the terse reply from the statue-esque Charlton.

"I'll give you a break....just this once though! Everyone deserves ONE break" ....Joe passed flipping the Ahrt but his chat was obviously intended to warn people off from re-stealing off him.

Jerome Bradpiece has had a torrid time in the early stages.

I joined his table to see a large pot being mvoed away from him toward the stack of his neighbour Anthony Chapman.

The cards were swept up almost as soon as I arrived but I thought I saw Tc 8c in front of Jerome and the Ac in front of Anthony with 3 or 4 clubs on board.

I heard Anthony mention to someone "I got a bit lucky there" suggesting he perhaps rivered a superior flush to beat Jerome...

This knocked Jerome down to 110k or so...

Next up, Leo and Jerome became involved in a pot.

The two players saw a flop of 5h Ad 6d.

Jerome checked to Kam who quickly tapped the table and checked behind.

TURN: Qs

Jerome: CHECK
Kam: a quick bet of 8k
Jerome: CALL

RIVER: 4s

Jerome: CHECK
Kam: 14.5k allin bet
Jerome blinks a few times before announcing he is calling.

Kam flipped over 6-6 for a set and Jerome nodded his head and mucked his hand.

Two big hits in a row have knocked Jerome back from the chip lead down to circa 75k...

Here is teh upwardly mobile Kam with his newly acquired chips.

As Koroush Nikkhahe pushes in from early position with Pocket Tens, he probably had mixed feelings when Dave Anderson moved all-in behind him. Possibly expecting to be coinflipping at best, that's exactly what happened, Anderson showing A-K for a classic 50-50 encounter. With both players poised and ready for celebration, more so the enigmatic Koroush as he rose anxiously from his seat, the dealer lay a raggy 2-5-2 onto the felt. At this point, you could sense both hearts beating fast, and whilst Koroush's mouth quivered rhythmically, probably repetitively mouthing the words "No ace or king, no ace or king no ace or king", the tension on Dave's face was just as evident. However, on the Turn, it was the latter's wishes that came true, but only temporarily so, the dramatic Ten on the River making Koroush's step towards the door an unjustified one and resulting in thee forms of celebration: a punch of the air, a "yes, thank you, yes, thank you" verbal celebration, and a firm pat on the back for the dealer.

Like a quick bout of midget wrestling, two shorties (chip-wise) locked horns in Hugo Martin and next door neighbour Daren Bradick. On this occasion, it was Hugo in need of a win in order to stay in the tournament, and his survival never really looked in jeopardy as his Ahrt Qd battled Rhodes' [Braddick's] Ac 3s on a seemingly harmless Aspades 8d Kc 2c 2h board. Unfortunately, the Two on the River resulting a split pot to leave both players with circa 15k in chips.

chip count for Jen pleeeeze

Jen Anders Mason has sadly (my small investment makes me understandably biased) dropped down to 43k after being rugby tackled by Poker Verdicter Neil Channing. Raising to 3,025 from the cut-cut-off (ie. two before the button), Neil made it 9,000 from the small blind only for Jen to re-pop him to 19,000.

After a momentary dwell, Neil waved his hands and announced, "Okay, I'm all-in," before adding, "It's 24,500 or something."

Jen's expression turned sour as soon as Neil made his move, so I doubt the brief flurry of table talk made too much of a difference:

"Even an idiot gets a hand sometimes."

"Don't do it Jen, just get on with it."

As expected, Jen took defeat on the chin and lived to fight another as Neil confessed, "Good fold", flipping over Queens in the process.

Thomas Dunwoodie makes it 5k to go, and small blind Hugo Martin moves in for 11.5k total. Super-shortstack big blind Daren Braddick decides he's live and comes along for the ride for his remaining 7.9k (including his blind). A short argument follows regarding the main pot, the size pot, and who has and hasn't received change. Eventually Dunwoodie throws in another 10k on top of his 5k raise to cover any eventuality, and they're on their backs.

Hugo Martin -  Ahrt Kd
Daren Braddick - er, 5h 7c
Thomas Dunwoodie - 8d 8h

Board - a totally decisive 8s 2s Kc 8c 3h

Hugo Martin - OUT
Daren Braddick - OUT
Thomas Dunwoodie - says something like "yippee!" and takes possession of no fewer than two shortstacks.

W Cheung just shovelled his shortish stack in on the button hoping to pick up the blinds.

Little did he know what awaited him though...

First off Jon "Skalie" Kalmar woke up with A-J. Also shortish he was happy to isolate Cheung's lilkely steal by getting his stack into the middle too. His attempt to isolate was destined for failure though as neither player were to know Steve Jelinek was sat there, loving all the action with a golden pair of aces in the Big Blind...

Cheung showed the worst hand of the lot in Qc 8c. The flop changed matters somewhat though.

Ts 8h Qd Qs 8d flopped the cards, almost as if Cheung's Q-8 was drawing all the queens and eights out of the pack like a magnet and skalie was banished to the rail whilst Jelinek's stack took a bit of a hit...

Meanwhile I approach table Mason, where Jen has had a slow-ish start to see Jen calling a shortstacked push from Terry Simpson. Terry was hoping to be live with his J-9 but he was disappointed as Jen proudly paraded the dominating A-J and a board of Q-8-2-4-2 didn't alter the status quo meaning Terry hits the bar, and Jen's stack moves upwards and onwards.

GO JEN!

"I would like to clarify that in no way is Jen

a) A blithering drunkard
b) Maniacally fixated on biscuits
c) Semi violent

Incidentally Jen feels, perhaps justifiably, that I have unfairly misrepresented her in previous updates. I agreed to issue the following statement.

"I would like to clarify that in no way is Jen

a) A blithering drunkard
b) Maniacally fixated on biscuits
c) Semi violent
d) prone to talking in the manner of a teenage stoner fratboy
e) liable to froth at the mouth.
f) has hair that smells of bacon
Jen is in fact an articulate, talented, together young lady who has poker abililty and self restraint in abundance and if I have suggested otherwise, then please accept my apologies. Thank you. PS She didn't tell me to write this."

Hope that clears up any confusion!!!

Go Baconhair!!

Can you give me the lowdown on Chris Rhodes please, and also another picture. Don't you agree he looks like Gus (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=564) Hansen (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=564)?

Difficult to tell with his hood up. With those specs though, he looks more like Elton John than Gus Hansen.

Anyhow, the Tiny Dancer currently has "just over 60k".

I snatched a quick chat with Chili and Jen during the short break.

Jen is enjoying herself, but has not had any luck with the cards so far, currently sitting on 42k...

Chili has been all over the shop table-wise, being moved three times in the first 2 hours, but so far her stack has retained a more balanced sense of equilibrium as she is not far off the 94k she started the day on, holding 92k at present. She is overjoyed that Liverpool have now moved THREE nil in front of newcastle.

Fernando Torres - what a legend.

The far from bashful Tony Phillips is doing is going great guns with just over 100k in chips. He was last spotted re-raising Brian Johnson's 6k pre-flop raise to 26,200, saying, and I quote, "Let's not fuck around here" in the process. After asking for a count (to which the answer was "I have around 75k left"), Brian folded, as did the sandwiched Chris Rhodes who had smooth called.

"I'll show if you want me to," continues Phillips, "it's up to you."

"I want you to show," adds Mark Friedman.

Phillips turns over Pocket Kings. "Good bluff, eh?"

In another raise-limp-all-in-fold-fold hand, crazy haired Davood Mehrmand pushed all-in for 26k after Erik Svanes initial 6k (seems to be the standard at the moment) had been flat called by Alessandro Meoni. Both players folded and Davood survives.

Jen Mason has just slapped Paul Rosati with a wet kipper and metaphorically said, "Have some of that, sunshine." All-in on a K-T-9-6 board, Paul's 4-4 was no match for Jen's J-Q, the Ten River not small enough for Paul to survive. The mason cements a mini victory!

And the official chip counts from the end of Level 11. Stewart Clutterbuck obviously has a MASSIVE stack acquired somewhere. Note the disappearance of Jerome (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199) Bradpiece (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199) from the top end of the counts. He told me during the break that he's only won a single hand all day, and that was calling a gent's all-in with T-5, apparently just basically because he didn't like the guy, I think...

We've more all-ins than a Vegas brothel, the latest player to taste victory being Ritchie Allen. With 22k in chips, small blinder Ritchie came over the top of Allesandro Meoni's button raise before being called by Aspades Td. Somewhat surprised that Meoni made the call, or maybe just anxious that Meoni had sneaked a coinflip, Ritchie revealed his 9c 9h and glanced up to the heavens. A 6s 2s 3c Kh 9d board led to a triumphant clap from Ritchie who now moves closer to the 50k mark.

One of those who has bitten the tournament dust since those counts is Terry Chapman. He shoved preflop; Colclough called, and Stewart Clutterbuck gave it some thought too, but passed A-K face up.

Chapman - Jh Jc
Colclough - a very ahead Qd Qs

Board - unmi-Jack-ulous 2d 3c 6d 7c 8s

Bad news for Vicky Coren's followers and admirers, the former EPT champion is OUT!

Holding 9-9, she committed herself on a board of 7c 4s 7s, only to find her vanquisher and owner of the best bouffant in town, Davood Mehrmand was holding an ever so slightly better T-T.

Vicky tapped the table acknowledging her opponent's superior hand, and a 7d and Ks river brought the curtain down on her London GUKPT. Good game Ms Coren.

Neil "Bad Beat" Channing has also hit the rail, his pocket snowmen no match for the A-A of his as yet unconfirmed opponent.

I'm sure he will deliver a more compelling and humourous account of his exit hand in his amusing blog but for now we say goodbye to Mr Channing and his omni-present red PV t-shirt.

Leo Kam has risen at a meteroric rate. Starting the day pretty short, he has pilfered and plundered his way back up to in excess of 100k and is playing well at this stage.

After his meteoric rate rising

After meteorically rising the rate

Bizarr-o Laydown Of The Day

Jeff Buffenbarger barges in and shoves on a flop that reads 9h 2c 8d.

James Sudworth thinks and thinks about it - and then folds pocket Kings! Face up! Pandemonium on the table! Particularly upset is Willie Tann. "You fold pocket Kings! Pocket Kings! I have a Nine I'm calling. Kings!!!" Buffenbarger shows A-8. Apparently Sudworth put him on a draw that we wasn't prepared to gamble against...

Ian Cox is still hovering around that 30k mark. I suggested to Jen that we try to get him out of the chair with a crowbar, but I still think he'd make the final.

A gentleman who I think has an ID card that says 604 which would make him one Fran Egan - is this right? - anyway, he is on the small blind, whence he limps. Ian Cox on the big blind shoves for around 20k; Mr Small Blind thinks for a good long while, eventually passing a Deuce and, I believe, an Ace with it. Ian shows Ac Qs.

"You haven't showed all your hands," pipes up someone.

"No, obviously I only show the good ones," says Ian. Obviously.

A most unusual thing - a six-way pot. Preflop, at least. That's far too many ID cards for one updater to be reading, so I shall merely tell you that Chili finally allowed them all to see a cheap flop by considerately checking the big blind, and that that flop was 4d Jd Kc.

It checks around to Anthony Phillips on the button, who bets a chunky 9100. Brian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=489) Johnson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=489) and Talal (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1568) Shakerchi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1568) both call.

Turn - 3h and everyone's back to checking now.

River - 5d and there is some sneaky and un-sneaky checking from Johnson and Shakerchi respectively, until Phillips bets 30k. Johnson calls with Kd Qd for almost the nuts, and an irked Phillips mucks.

Knockouts seem to be coming thick and fast...

Barney Boatman, the last remaining Hendon Mobster is OUT!

Christopher Nilsen is also OUT! his shortstack being forced allin blind in the BB and Johnathan Martin's A-J prevailing over the 2-3 of Nilsen. Johnathan celebrated by requesting a massage.

Johnathan Baylis just raised from the cutoff, only to find Johnathan Martin in action YET AGAIN as he made it an additional 30k.

Baylis opted to flat call this big re-raise and the flop fell 4s 4c 8d. Martin bet enough to put Baylis in, and although he had reservations Baylis called. He looked mightily unhappy though, flipping Q-Q, only to be shown A-A in the hands of Martin. A 3 and 6 finished off the hand and a sighing Baylis collected his things and departed.

"I knew massages were lucky for me!" chirped Martin chirpily.

As has been the patten throughout the day, there has been more action here than an Arnie flick on sterids making full chip counts difficult to produce. However, even though it can all change in a flash, I did manage to grab full counts from the far two tables, both of which can now boast the presence of John Conroy, Dave Colclough and co. Meanwhile, on the other tables, I can tell you that Steve Clutterbuck (pictured) is still riding high with 275k, as is Marius Hogtun on 200k, whilst players like Derek Miller (36k) and Inil Abraham (45k) are fighting for their lives.

Dave Colclough -- 70k
Yilfer Shevket -- 71k
Talal Shakerchi -- 41.5k
Tony Phillips -- 88k
Maria Demetriou -- 83k
Brian Johnson -- 132.5k
Mark Friedman -- 145k
Chris Rhodes -- 73k
Jeremy Longley -- 27.5k
Mark Rayson -- 38.5k
Nik Stylianou -- 49k
Jen Mason -- 65k
Fran Egan -- 47.5k
Ian Cox -- 34.5k
Steve Jelinek -- 192k
Dan Samson -- 68.5k
Jonathan Martin -- 195k
John Conroy -- 43k

Mark Friedman limps on the button, and small blind Talal Shakerchi makes it 10k. Big blind Chris Rhodes calls, as does Friedman.

Flop - 8d Qs 7h - Shakerchi checks, and Rhodes shoves. Friedman gets out of the way, but Talal thinks about it for a bit. He calls, most ill-fatedly, as his Jd Jh is no match for Rhodes'  Aspades Qh.

Turn - Tc
River - 4c

And big-stack-through-the-whole-of-days-one-through-now Talal Shakerchi is OUT. The entire hand was conducted in absolute, stony, creepy silence. I have no idea why.

Jan Lundberg limps in from mid-position, and Jerome button-raises. The blinds pass, and Lundberg re-raises. Jerome folds pretty swiftly. He rolls his eyes at me and giggles.

And disaster for the start-of-day-2 chip leader! Just moments later he is all in on a 3-Q-9 flop and called by Steve Townsend, and oh the pain! Jerome has Q-3 and Townsend is holding a nutsy Q-Q. King and Ace on the turn and river, and with a noise that sounds a lot like "oh no!" Mr Bradpiece is OUT.

--------- 40 minute dinner break ---------

Maybe M&S is still open. :)

James Keys just played out a big pot.

Raising to 7k from MP, he was re-raised an additional 21k by Ketul Nathwani.

He thought for a bit then moved all the rest of his stack, c 85k into the middle and Nathwani quickly called.

Q-Q for Nathwani
A-J for Keys.

No Ace transpired meaning Keys is OUT whilst Ketul is coming to the boil nicely.

Someone just told me about this "reporting" which happened on day 1B:

"Poor old Fran is indeed OUT....Apparently then spoke up Vicky Coren, "I think that's the result we were all hoping for." Which seems a bit unnecessary. Anyway. Unlucky, Fran."

!! It's hard to know where to start really. Why on earth would I have said that??? A few hours into a three day tournament, a young woman I've never met or spoken to gets knocked out and I'm supposed to say "That's the result we were all hoping for?" Why??!! Just to be horrible?! I hope that anyone who's ever met me would know that I wouldn't say anything like that even if it was the final table and somebody's exit won me £50,000 ! But at level 3 or 4, when nobody's exit makes any difference to me one way or the other, why would *anybody* think I would say that? What am I, Satan?!
Needless to say, of course I didn't say that! I said "Well that's not a good result". And it wasn't meant to be horrible to Steve Jellinek either - he'd just won loads of pots in a row, he was chip leader on the table, this knockout gave him lots of power, so it was just a way of showing a bit of sympathy for the woman who'd been knocked out, and a bit of banter with Steve because I didn't want him to have quite so many chips. I wouldn't have said it if losing the pot could have damaged Steve; he had a big stack already, so it was just a kind of joky thing about it being bad for us that now he had even more.
Fran - it did seem that you were annoyed with me when you walked away and I had no idea why; I now realize you must have thought I said that too. Not at all - quite the opposite! I was sorry to see you go; I'm always sorry to see someone get knocked out, unless I've got the chips myself or (selfishly) we're on the bubble - and even then I'm sympathetic because it's always a horrible moment when your hopes get dashed. I would never cheer when I knocked someone out or anything like that. God knows I certainly wouldn't cheer when someone ELSE knocked someone out!!! I'm incredibly sorry if you thought I was being mean, but I hope you realized quite quickly that OF COURSE I wasn't - there's only a tiny handful of people in poker who'd be quite that horrible, and I'm not one of them!
But to the person who 'reported' this... really I think perhaps you might have spoken to me before you wrote that down in public for people to read. It's a very unpleasant allegation, and even if it didn't occur to you that there must have been a misunderstanding, you should always check a quote before you attribute it to someone. It's kind of irresponsible not to.
And Fran - sorry again if you misheard me, I really hope this clears it up, and good luck in your next tournament.

And Fran - sorry again if you misheard me, I really hope this clears it up, and good luck in your next tournament.

if you read yesterdays thread you will see i already said i was told you didnt mean it the way it sounds.

if you felt that you needed to justify it you could have said something last night or this afternoon to my face.im over it already sorry you feel like you have been misrepresented.

no hard feelings on my part

FRAN

Hello Ms Coren -

Apologies for any misreportings or misunderstandings that may have been going on. I can assure you that I spoke to a number of people just after that hand, including the unlucky lady who exited the comp at the end of it, and they all told me the same story, so I reported it exactly as it was told to me. I personally wasn't sure what was going on with that, but, as I said, it was reported to me that way, and I therefore wrote it up that way. Nothing slanderous or untoward was intended by me or I think any of the folks I spoke to, I think it's just got a bit twisted along the way somewhere. A number of people also posted after I reported that hand saying that they thought that if you had indeed said that, it was most uncharacteristic and more likely to be in connection with a pokery past between you and Steve (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) Jelinek (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) than any animosity towards Fran. Thanks for posting to clear it up, it is to my mind one of the many beauties of the blonde forum that everyone can freely post corrections, opinions and the like.

As I headed down to the cardroom I was stopped in my tracks by the sight of Willie Tann looking more than a little glum on the rail. Willie didn't seem in the mood for a chat so I decided to leave it. However, the combination of empty seat and bulldog/wasp expression was a strong indicator that he was out.

Also spotted making an early post-dinner exit was Mark Friedman. I was only able to catch him racing towards the door, but, Brian Wilson was happy to fill me in: "He had Sevens, I had A-8, 8 on the Flop, I checked, he pushed all-in and I called."

As we approach the money, the tension has clearly become more cuttable with players taking longer on their decisions, remaining focused at all times, and refraining from involving themselves in the banter that was so prevalent earlier on. One man who can draw another breath is Piers Whyman. He was all-in with 7d 7s against Fabio Esposito's Ahrt Kc but somehow managed to survive a frightful Qd 9h 8h 9c Jd board, the paired Turn bringing an extra six outs.

Just back at home after a long day at work...

I'm glad to read that, Jen, Chili and El Blondie still are in.

Could we have some photos and chip counts for these 3 people please ?

Fabio Esposito is now out, his water bed bursting with Pocket Threes against what looked like (the dealer mucked them too quickly) a pair of Pocket Nines or Eights. Ketul Nethwani was the sniper, but I guess Fabio is the only one steaming after that encounter.

if you felt that you needed to justify it you could have said something last night or this afternoon to my face.FRAN

I had no idea about it last night. Today a friend of mine told me there was this weird post/thread on this forum - obviously I looked for you immediately to have a word about it but you weren't around. So I left a message for you with Maria. Sounds a bit like you've still got the hump with me, I honestly have no idea why, maybe I'm being dense but I can't do much more than say that you imagined me saying something that I hadn't and wouldn't.
And no problem Dana - I'm sure you wrote it because you thought it happened, but in future I'd love it if you could check with *me* if I said something, rather than other people! People have strange agendas - normally I don't look at poker forums (I only came on here because Neil told me about it and I wanted to clear it up) and I hate the idea of any future times when people might think I've said or done something I haven't. I'd really appreciate it if you hear of me saying/doing anything horrible in future that you ask me if I have before printing it! I'm a nice person really, I promise, and I hardly ever do horrid things..... :-)
Enough now, I'm logging off, good luck to the remaining runners & best wishes,
  VC x

Yes! 32 get paid, 38 left. Just posted chip counts from the last break; last I saw, Jen had somehow boosted her stack to around 150k...

Here's a fun hand:

Short-shortstack Alessandro Meoni is all in preflop against Norwegian Marius Hogtun.

Meoni - Ad Aspades
Hogtun - 9c 9s

Board - 2s 9h (OOOH! shouts everyone) 2c (Meoni is tapping the table and standing up) Qc (he's really going to leave) Ac

Double-up!

Jen Mason is back down to 60k. Judging from the positions, I can only assume that she'd opened the action with Eights, only for John Conroy to push over the top with K-Qo.

The T-A-J Flop wasn't a bad one for the Rockstar, and even though the Lady on the Turn gave Mrs Merton a glimmer of hope for a split pot, it failed to emerge on the Deuce River.

John now back up to crica 70 or 80k.

Anthony Philips just played out a pot with Yilfer Shevket.

On a board of Ac 2s 5s Qc, Yilfer had made a big bet and Anthony was deliberating his options before finally deciding to fold.

The moustachio'd Shevket showed A-Q, which led Anthony to get a little hot under the collar. "I KNEW you'd hit a 3 outer on me!" he told Yilfer, who seemed a little disbelieving.

"So you had AK? you didn't have AK you'd have called!"

"Tell me what I was beating?? Tell me!"

Conversation slowed to a trickle at this point, as Yilfer added to his stack whilst Anthony privately let off steam in his own way.

Ok quick reminder of the payout structure as we approach the bubble.

1st £119,780
2nd  £69,960
3rd   £50,880
4th   £33,920
5th   £26,500
6th   £20,140
7th   £15,900
8th   £12,720
9th    £9,540
10th   £6,360
11th-13th £4,240
14th -18th £3,180
19th-32nd  £2,120

William Chan is now OUT. He pushed his shortstack in with J-7o, but got caught red handed by Lloyd Rees' K-Qo. T-3-Q-4 board meant the 7 on the River was academic.

A few seats down, Colin Kennedy is still battling away, his stack having crept up to the 80k mark.

Apologies for any non-descript posts, but the hands are coming in quick and fast, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Helping maintain the pace is Dave Colclough. After doubling through earlier on when his Pocket Sevens hit a set against Pocket Queens, the blonde one has been at it again, this time making a flush with Ahrt 8h against Brian Johnson's Kh Qd after pushing for 36.1k on the Flop of a Jh Kd 5h 9h 4d board. Could DC be the next double GUKPT winner?...

Yeaaaaah, that's more like it.

 :o :o :o

... not sure how long those pics will last!

On a board of Aspades 9d 2s 8h, Tony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1339) Phillips (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1339) check raises Brian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=489) Johnson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=489)'s 20k bet to 50k. "Can I have a count?" asks Brian, to which the response is a very precise 59,700. Brian calls and throws in the extra 30k.

Before the 9c River has barely hit the felt, Tony is pushing in his chips quicker than a jet-propelled cheetah only to be called, after a quick, pensive rub of the head, by Brian.

"House," declares Tony abruptly before any cards have been revealed. Brian exhales dejectedly as Tony shows 8c 8d. Another quick glance to confirm, and it's all over for Brian, Tony having his man well covered. As he departs, he lays a battered and bruised Ac Jd across the surface of the felt, leaving Tony, a real dangerman at this point in time, to stack up his newly acquired monster stack.

ps. I by no means condone the use of drugs. Listen to the Grange Hillers kids, just say no!

updates for fran egan please

Mr Egan has just had a bubble-time hand-for-hand DOUBLE-UP, courtesy of our bouffant-y friend Mr Davood Mehrmand. All in on a J-K-Q flop, Fran was holding the absolute nuts with A-T, and Davood was holding the never-getting-away-from-that-one-really Q-K. Turn and river respectively - Ten and Eight.

Also enjoying a bubble-time double-up, Mr Darren "Aussie Millions" Pearce. All in on a Q-7-A flop, Leo (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1418) Kam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1418) pretty understandably can't get away from his set of Sevens, but Pearce is holding a set of Queens. Hand for hand, who would be the unlucky fella on the bubble. Well, it didn't take long to find out.

Let's flip em folks...

Sadly for Ian a ten on the flop pretty much sealed the pot for Yilfer, who had Ian covered meaning Mr Final Table himself, the superbly consistent Ian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=171) Cox (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=171) had come up short for once and was our unlucky bubbling 33rd placed finisher. Bad luck Ian.

Fran Egan is just below average with 120k. The last hand I witnessed him play was against Marius Hogtun, the Norwegian calling a River bet with A-K on a Q-9-4-K-9 board. Hotgun looked as though we contemplating the fold, so Egan probably thought his K-J was ahead.

Also gone is Helge Stjernvang, who departed just a few hands prior.

Jen is suffering a bit, holding a short stack she has been having to push allin at regular intervals, which explains her growing tower of grey 100 chips. "My stack looks like a lot....but it's not!" she told me laughing in a giggly, "Oh well, hope I can get lucky!" kind of way. Fingers crossed.

Jen too has just taken a step in the right direction, doubling her short stack up courtesy of a J-J v A-K flip scenario. She should be in the region of 90k now. Go Jen!

Misses Mason and Demetriou at the last break:

I saw Chip Monster Anthony Phillips raise from the button only for Chili to re-pop him from the small blind. He actually picked up his chips and put them in the general region of her stack. That's the kind of respect she's getting. :D

Ketul makes it 15k utg, and Yilfer Shevket moves all in from the button for 111k more. Ketul folds. Yilfer now performs some kind of weird sniffing ritual I think, and then poses for the camera. He's awesome, as below:

Mark Rayson was the man buttering his toast the wrong side, and he departed soon after with K-Q versus Jonathan Martin's A-J. Jonathan was actually very complimentary of how Mark had played, commending him on his performance as he left.

Jen has over 100k.

A massive pot has developed preflop so I stroll over to Jeremy Longley's table just in time to see him throw the rest of his chips in on a 7c 5h 6c flop. Anthony Phillips instacalls, as he has...

Phillips - Ad Ahrt
Longley - Ac Tc

Turn - 7h
River - 8s

No flush for Mr Longley and he is therefore OUT in 29th place. Quoth he: "How many times do want Aces today?!"

With Simon Wickenden limping for 6k in early position, Maria takes the opportunity to raise it up from the button to 15,075. Ketul Nathwani calls from the small blinds and Simon folds, although after much deliberation.

Flop = Ahrt 7s Qs

Nathwani checks, Maria bets 22k and Nathwani calls.

Turn = Ac

Nathwani checks again, leading to another bet from 70k.

Nathwani asks for a chip count (which is in the region of 100k) before finally folding.

Spot no. 28 is now the property of Mr Thomas Dunwoodie, who shoved with Sixes, right into the grateful claws of Stewart Clutterbuck's Aces.

Says Mr Dunwoodie, laughing: "Well, I got Sixes cracked by Aces. That's not too bad, really."

"Someone stole 5,200 off me the other day, Snoops, did I tell you that?" comments Steve.

"No, what happened?" I inquired eagerly, my Beagle ears keen to hear something controversial.

"This guy asked me how much I had left on the River and I said 5,200. He then said, 'okay, 5,200' and I quickly announced 'call' and shoved my chips across the line. He then said that he hadn't bet and the was only saying it. The ruling in the end was that I had acted out of turn and was forced to take my 5,200 back."

It's just one side of the story, but judging by the aforementioned, should Steve (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) Jelinek (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) have been paid that 5,200 or was the other player within his rights to claim that he wasn't actually making a bet?

Alessandro Meoni makes it 15k, and his hands clamp over his face. They stay there for a long time. Eventually he risks it - he takes a peek between his fingers. But Stewart Clutterbuck is still wondering whether to call. Meoni's hands clamp back on to his face.

Eventually he calls, and Meoni has to remove at least one hand in order to see the 3h 5c 8h flop, and then shove. Hands return to face. Clutterbuck asks for a count (I think it's around 80k), but eventually folds. Finally Meoni's hands can be at rest...

Interesting hand developed between Johnathan Martin and John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=608) Conroy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=608).

Johnathan Martin limped UTG, and when it came round to Conroy in the SB, he raised, and found the big  blind passing. He hadn't noticed Martin's limp so exposed his cards to the BB, showing a pair of cowboys.

As Martin hadn't acted yet, the TD was called over to make a ruling.

Martin doesn't have to call the raise, but can play out the hand and Conroy can't bet throughout, was the result.

So Conroy was forced to sit there patiently and just watch to see if his kings got outdrawn.

The players saw a flop of Qh 6h 3h.

"More cards please!" said Martin

TURN:  2s

"Hit me!"

RIVER: 8h

Martin gave up at this point.."I check, it's all yours"

Conroy was livid with himself at flipping his cards. "After a stupid mistake like that, I'm gonna go one and win this tournament" was his promise to the table...

Things seem to be a little cautious at the moment, as if everyone is aware that one mistake could spell the end of their tournament so close to the final.  Jen (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=198) Mason (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=198) tried to take advantage of the reticence of the other players, raising to 16k, but was met by an allin behind her.

She shrugged and threw her hand away relatively quickly, but it was 16k she could ill afford to lose as she is still pretty short. Like this man though...

You gotta have faith.

Leo (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1418) Kam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1418) has about 90k at the moment, and is also close to the brink. One double up though and everything
changes...

With the aggressive Tony Phillips raising it up to 24,000, Chris Rhodes looking down at Ahrt Qh, deemed this to be the perfect opportunity to double up, and pushed all-in for a total of 56,000. Tony made the near obligatory call with Ac 2c. However, the Poker Gods are a cruel bunch, and a somewhat clinical 9c 3c 5c Flop had them cackling manically from their clouds leaving poor Chris to take the high Rhode.

Chris was reflective in defeat. "Ah, never mind, I qualified through a satellite, so it's all profit."

Not only have we lost hot-stepper Ini Abraham, but also former tablemate Jan Lundberg. Short and in desperate need of a double up, he pushed from the button with Th 9h but was looked up in the big blind by Colin Kennedy Kennedy and his Kd 2s. A Qh Qs 4d 5d 4h board changed nothing and Lundberg is gone.

With Anthony Chapman (a former world heads up second place finisher, don't you know) raising it up to 20,500, Steve Jelinek made it 45,500 one seat down only for Dan Samson to dive into the tank from the small blind. Not willing to commit his stack on this occasion, Dan folds his hand but asks the dealer to keep his cards to one side. After Anthony has stepped out of the way to enable Steve to pick up the pot, Dan retrieves his cards, reveals Big Slick and says, "This is what I folded for you." Steve doesn't respond. "Was I winning?" continues Dan. Again, Steve gives little aways, simply saying something along the lines of "I'm not at liberty to say" and doing whatever he can to keep his cards close to his chest.

A couple of hands later, Steve turns to me, rises from his seat for a stretch and confesses, "I had absolute shite there."  ;smackedbottom;

Another moment of we've-been-playing-up-past-our-bedtimes forgetfulness from John Conroy, when he attempts to limp from the small blind when Jonathan Martin has shoved utg. It's ruled that he can fold, but has to leave the whole 8k limp in the pot.

(By the way, Jen has acquired a giant bag of assorted mints and is being Candy Fairy to her table, so everything that takes place on Table Candy is interspersed with polite requests along the lines of, "Can I have a toffee one please?", "Could you pass a clear one over here?", "I don't like humbugs," etc.)

Martin picks out Conroy's 5k chip as he takes possession of the pot ("Can we have the sweet bag over here a minute?"). "I'm keeping that one aside," he laughs. Pipes up David Rudling, "They're writing all this down and probably saying rude things about you on the internet." Sighs a good-natured Conroy, "Justifiable rude things..."

Giganto-stack Tony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1339) Phillips (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1339) is predictably walking all over his table in a I-have-all-the-chips bullying sort of way, raising all over the place, pushing people off pots and the like.

Jen took a decent pot off of newish tablemate Davood (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=124) Mehrmand (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=124), calling his small blind raise from the big blind, both of them checking the 6d 7h Aspades flop and then Jen took it with a bet on the 6s turn. She lost all the profit from that a few hands later, though, raising from the cutoff and then backing off to a re-raise from the small blind, who showed Jacks. More candy for that lady!

Colin Kennedy is on fire! No need for dousing though.

He bets a way-more-than-pot 40k on an 8c 2s 6s flop, forcing Fran Egan to eventually fold.

Then Stewart Clutterbuck bets 15k on an Ahrt 9c Kc Qd board, and Kennedy makes it 60k. Clutterbuck dwells for a while, and then calls. The river is the 6c and now Clutterbuck bets 60k (most of Kennedy's stack but not, I think, quite all in); Kennedy calls with Th Jh. Clutterbuck shows  Aspades 5s and is sad. :(

Yilfer Shevket has also been disposed of, his Pocket Sixes running into the Tens of Ketul Nethwani and failing to improve. 19 left.

Here are the full chip counts prior to those exits. They're only approximates though as I had to do them quickly before too much changed, as proved by the previous two posts that occurred whilst I was accruing counts.

Maria Demetriou -- 420k
Ketul Nathwani -- 130k
Davood Mehrmand -- 232k
Darren Pearce -- 215k
Simon Wickenden -- 72k
Jen Mason -- 180k
David Rudling -- 132k
Anthony Chapman -- 148k
Steve Jelinek -- 265k
John Conroy -- 72k
Dan Samson -- 128k

Yes, I'm finding that blonde is running more sloooowwly than other things on my laptop this evening...

Players are on a wee short break after which we will hopefully have the official Bluesquare chip counts from the end of this level.

So Chili is on fire.

She has knocked out Leo Kam, raising preflop to find the shortish stacked Kam moving in behind. His 9-9 was no match for Maria's mighty cowboys though and Maria continues her dominant march through the field, looking like she has around 400k or more, which may well be good for the chip lead at this stage.

Jen is also turning her fortunes round.  She called a push from the shortish stacked Johnathan Martin with A-4 and survived against his 5-6. A few more uncontested raises preflop (she told me she had big hands and wanted action but as we were within earshot of the rest of the table I'm not sure how honest she was being!) mean Jen now has 180k and is happy as a curved yellow fruit.

Meanwhile, Darren Pearce has eliminated the flat-capped legend that is Kier Fitzgibbon.

The marbles all went in preflop and Fitzgibbon's Kings held the advantage over pearce's A-J, but Pearce's loud bellows were as good an indicator that an ace had hit the flop as the fact I could see it with my own eyes.

Here is Pearce happily sweeping up his ill-gotten gains.

Whilst the unfortunate Fitzgibbon's exit was so swift, this was the best shot I could get - with his flat cap in tow.

He may have set the pace during the opening days of the tournament, but the once big stacker Alessandro Meoni is now one of the shorties. In a battle of the blinds encounter with chip leader Tony Phillips, Alessandro bet 21.5k on an 8d 7h 2s Flop only for Tony to instacall, flicking in the chips as if it were small change. On the 9s Turn, Allesandro pushed all-in for a total of 82,500, almost as quickly as Tony had called on the street prior, and swiftly adopted an awkward, almost nervy looking hands on mouth posture. Eying up his opponent like a piece of meat hanging from the butchers, Tony mulled over his decision before conceding the hand and allowing Allesandro, who, incidentally, is seated in Yilfer 'James Bond' Shevket's former seat, to die another day.

Double-up for Simon Wickenden, somehow getting it all in pre with Qd 4c against Stewart Clutterbuck's 6d 6h. But the gods smiled upon his not-very-good hand, giving him a Kh Jc Qc Ad Kc board to keep him in the game.

Similar divine kindnesses fell upon Fran Egan. With most of his chips committed preflop against Marius Hogtun, he shoves the 5s Qd Th flop. Marius sort of chuckles - he has around half his chips in the pot already too. Eventually says he, "I need a King," and calls.

Marius Hogtun - Ad Jh
Fran Egan - the preflop David to Marius' Goliath Kc Jc

Turn - 9h (OOOH!! say people around the table)
River - Js

And Mr Egan must be feeling Fran-tastic.

And fresh off of doubling up Simon Wickenden, Stewart Clutterbuck finds himself looking at a 8d 9c 2d flop, with David Rudling betting 25k at him. He shoves. Rudling wonders out loud whether he might have 9-2, or whether the diamonds, and calls.

Stewart Clutterbuck -  Aspades 9h
David Rudling - 8h 9d

Turn - 9s
River - Jh

And, as Jon Raab said, it looks like Stewart has Clutterbucked it all up, and is OUT in 18th place.

I'm sad to say that this is the case.

Facing a raise to 40k, Jen re-popped to 90k, only to find David Rudling moving in behind her for the rest of her stack c 100k.

Jen hated the spot, she clearly had a hand but knew Rudling had to be big here.

Eventually, she decided too much of her stack was in the middle and made the call with A-K.

Rudling flipped over K-K and Jen tapped the table, knowing she needed to get very lucky. A board devoid of aces came and went though, the gigantic pot was shipped to David and a disappointed Jen was eliminated in 17th spot.

Congrats to David who found a big hand at the right time to shoot him up the leaderboard, but bad luck to Jen. She was giving herself a bit of a mental kicking saying she felt she had to fold, had to...but getting over 3-1 with A-K, I felt it wasn't the worst call in the world...any views on this???

Another close call in a GUKPT event, it won't be long before Jen is sat there on the final table in my opinion.

GOGOGOGO JEN - you're still a legend!!!

In what was a dramatic loop the loop of emotions on the poker rollercoaster, we have lost Anthony Chapman courtesy of a jubilant Dan Samson. Anthony Chapman was at it to be fair, his shortstack push with 9c 8s being called quicker than a hiccup by Dan Samson and his Ac Kh. The board, however, had more drama than an episode of Eastenders, the 8h 8c Ks Flop being followed by a Kc and a 5d Turn and River. Dan's understandable profanity (not sure I can type fuck on here) and frustration on the Flop transformed into "Yes!" and sheer elation on the Turn in the space of a few seconds to show just how much of white knuckle ride this poker lark can be.

When I joined Jen at the cashier in a potentially futile effort to consolidate her, she seemed adamant that she made a bad call. "I had bad cards all the way through," she said, "and made just one mistake."

When I asked her what she thought his range was, she replied, "Aces, Kings, Queens, Jacks or Ace-King, definitely not Tens or A-Q."

If she did make a mistake, then I would say it wasn't a monumental one in the grand scheme of things. I've certainly seen a hell of a lot worse and I can imagine a lot of pro's would actually follow suit in Jen's position and make the call. I'm not even sure she did make a mistake at all, but then again I suck at poker.   :P

She did marvelously in my book and surely braced for a big win in the very near future. Imagine if she'd actually been dealt some hands.  :o

Play has now finished, with 14 players remaining.

One player who will be having a hard, and probably short, time of it tomorrow is Davood Mehrmand.

Tony Phillips raises preflop and Ketul Nathwani moves all in. In an unexpected sort of way, Davood moves in too, and Tony gets out of the way.

Davood - Ad Kh
Ketul - 3d 3s

Board - 3h 5c Qh Js (at which point Davood properly bellows "TENNNNS!!!" 4s

And he is absolutely crippled, down to just 55k with the blinds at 6k/12k tomorrow. Must be the thought of that, did that to his hair...

He will for no reason have the head of Marius Hogtun!

Maria Demetriou   470000
Ketul Nathwani   410500
Alessandro Meoni 349500
Lloyd Reece   346000

Dana has some insights from the final few hands, but after a day packed with intrigue and excitement we are close to ready to wrapping things up.

Well done to Jen for running so deep, and superb stuff from Maria, who returns very well placed in 3rd spot and a big threat to take down this leg of the GUKPT.

I'll leave it to Dana to bring you the last few details but from me, thanks for following, I'll see all of you (no exceptions) back here tomorrow for the exciting climax to the tournament.

For now though  ;stickaforkinme;

If she has his range as AA KK QQ or JJ then the call is correct. If Jen is really saying it is a poor call then in her heart she knew his range was actually AA or KK. Only she knows if it is a bad call and we can debate it all we like, if Jen says she made a bad call then she did. There is a mathmatical formula for this but it would be something Bill Chen would write on a forum not a dumb northerner lol. imo even if she knows he has KK then the call isnt that bad as she plays to win not ladder and was only a 7/3 shot. If she spikes the ace she would be a demon with a bigstack. Keep knocking Jen and it will happen, too much talent not to finish one of these off.

UL jen and gl to that chilli bloke. He's quite a player I've heard ;)

If she did make a mistake, then I would say it wasn't a monumental one in the grand scheme of things. I've certainly seen a hell of a lot worse and I can imagine a lot of pro's would actually follow suit in Jen's position and make the call.

She did marvelously in my book and surely braced for a big win in the very near future. Imagine if she'd actually been dealt some hands.  :o

I'm sure that we could make a very long debate about some calls... you know that you are beaten, but you are short stack too... what to do here...

GO Jen !!! it's a nice result to celebrate your new sponsor...

It's always very easy to comment from the sidelines too. Unless you're at the table, you don't know the history of certain confrontations, who's been making moves, etc.

I never have said that she made an error... I don't understand why you posted that... I only said that IMO, some people will say to CALL others to FOLD here and that it would be a big discussion about that...

maybe what I wrote could have many ways to be understand... if so, I promisse that I never reprimand her here... who I am to do that ???

I was agreeing with you Mr Jpean and saying that it's very difficult for anyone to debate the hand unless they were actually at the table as there are so many other potential factors involved that we perhaps wouldn't be aware of.

So true Snoops.  If Jen has come up against a player who has been "at it" then this makes it a call.  She puts her oppo on a ranger where she is a big dog to two of his possible holdings and racing against another 2.  Its a cooler no doubt, she has done tremendously well to get where she has done.  And her achievement is even greater considering that you report she has had very little in the way of cards.

I am sure in the cold light of day she will be pleased with her performance, it may even stand her in good stead knowing that she has the "balls" to make big calls, given that earlier in the day someone passed KK.

No problem, I think I worded my post badly anyhow. On a sidenote, Jen is overwhelmed by the support you have shown her over the last few days and sends you many thanks for your efforts. Top stuff.  :)up

Chili, meanwhile, was as excited as I've ever seen her when she and Steve (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) Jelinek (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) left for the hotel. The very best of luck to her tomorrow, it makes updating the final so much more fun when a friend is on it.
