...And indeed an extremely provisional and incomplete player list for today, all courtesy of the fine figure of a woman that is Mad Harper of Pokerstars. At the time of, er, us arriving a little while ago, people were still dumping massive wads of €500 notes on the registration desk, so expect more people than this to suddenly appear on a revised player list at some point soonish:

Play has begun, and although I struggled to spot early action other than you might expect with a 10k stack, 90 min clock and 25/50 blinds, Dana says she's seen some odd play already, chips are flying on at least one table.

I saw one flop:  it involved Kevin O'Connell raising preflop to 200, getting three callers and a Qc 5s 2s flop.  Checks all round, and then Kevin called a 600 bet on the Js turn only to fold on the 9h river to a 1,600 bet.  His chip count, therefore: 14,200.

Meanwhile the floor was called as a becowboy-hatted latecomer sat down in a seat 9, but didn't give the dealer his seat ticket.  "Didn't they give you a card when you bought in?" asked the dealer.  "No," replied the jovial American, "I gave them €10k, they didn't give me anything at all."  Oops.

Good Lord, craziness here already. I just saw a gentleman call off about half his stack with A-Q on a King-high board. The gentleman who raised him obviously had fourth pair. Amazing.

Meanwhile I have found Mr Michael Martin, who says "Hi mom!" for when Ms TheReader appears. He says he's tired, but appears most cheerful. He's right at the back of the room, next to the window, and as I was chatting to him the curtains opened and oh my God the sunshine! I could live here forever and I swear I'd never get used to it. Will most surely get some photos of the awesome, awesome view, as soon as Snoopy lets me have the camera.  >:(

My first circuit of the cardroom in numbers:
Cowboy hats = 4
Pink/fuchsia shirts = 5
Times Steve Frezer pulled my hair = 1
Extra green chips that Maz Nawab has somehow added to his stack = approximately 10
Miniature salamis/woodland animal poos I have consumed = 8 urrrrr  :-X

A crowd has formed around a table, and it is because Daniel Negreanu, Paul Testud, a Mateygent sat in what must not be the funnest place to be today in that he directly to Daniel Negreanu's right, and a Canadian gentleman called Benoit Gariepy (omg I love it when people have their names on their shirts) are seeing a flop. Said flop is Aspades 4d 6s. They unspectacularly check it.

Turn - 5d and now Mateygent bets 300. Negreanu and Benoit call, Paul Testud passes.

River - 7d and Mateygent bets 700. To which Negreanu makes it 2k. Benoit passes, and Mateygent dwells up, grinning. He seems very pleased with himself. I think it's because Daniel Negreanu's just raised him. The crowd around the table is now unreasonably large for a smallish pot in Level 1. Eventually he folds. How happy he looks to be losing to Daniel Negreanu! Or something.

Hi!

I have an quite unusual request for you guys today.
Any chance you could take some kind of closeup pic of some chips?   would like to know how close those replica sets are to the real thing:)

Ok, shall do, although a curious thing - yesterday the 5k chips were white, and today they are a sort of beigey brown colour. Either somebody spilled their coffee on them, or, more likely, they are today using for the tournament the chips that they were yesterday using in the sit n gos. So bear in mind that there may indeed be more than one design of Official Pokerstars EPT Tournament Chips, if that's what you have...

----------

Andrew Teng is currently on 13,450 and sharing a table with fellow Brits, Manuel Palanca (12,575 - "I keep bluffing off my chips, that's my problem"), Paul Ephremsen (11,500 - "I've had A-K beaten twice") and Paul Bracken (15,000 "We had a great piss up in Manchester last year"), not to mention a cucumber cool Mats Iremark, the EPT Dueville winner flying high with almost 30k in chips.

While I was sunning myself taking photos for your edification, Mr Maz Nawab wandered outside. He was shaking his head and was clearly in serious need of nicotine - "I was up to 19 or 20k. I don't really know why I got involved with this German kid." Must admit I feared the worst for a moment, but it turns out he's currently on a Just Fine 16 or 17k. Apparently the hand in question involved Maz holding a pair of Nines and Kid German holding Jacks, although Maz was fairly sure he had A-K or similar. That hand saw him drop down to around 12k, but he's been doing a pretty good job of clawing it back since.

---------

Like a machine gun rattling out an flurry of bullets, a swift raise, re-raise, re-re-raise, all-in, call causes a sudden showdown on the far table, one man turning over Kings, the other Aces. A King-less board later and we're a Spaniard down, leaving young American Joe Udine to stack up his newly acquired stack whilst simultaneously thanking the Poker God's for his good fortune.

-----------

Another famous face that has been spotted today is Italian Pirate and former WSOP bracelet winner Max Pescatori. As I joined his table, he was seemingly praying to the poker gods with his hands clasped before him. With a 7h-5d-Th Flop on board, Max had called an initial bet of 1.2k, only to find Mateyboy push all-in for 8k behind him, with the initial aggressor following suit with an all-in of his own. Hesitant to fold at first, Max did eventually pass, likely pleased to see the aggressor turn over 5h-5c for a set of Fives. Surprisingly, the all-iner could only muster a Ac--Kc (he understandably smirked when he saw how much trouble he was in), and quickly exited stage left as the turn and River dealt out blanks.

I'm afraid all we know currently about number of runners etc is that there are 449 remaining at this moment in time. From the virtual pen of Ms Mad Harper:

dear all

I don't think I'll have a full list for today until about 6pm. The tournament team had a computer problem - it's now fixed but it's set them back time-wise.

Best wishes
Mad

Here it is:  The back of Boris Becker's head.  Yes, as you see he's attracted quite a media frenzy, being famous for at least one thing other than poker...

As I pretended to be much more interested in Runar Runarsson (the guy with the sunglasses looking suspiciously upwards) the media gent opposite me kept a firm track on the tennis star's face and a floorman or security person came up to me and insisted I turn my flash off.  I was then sort of watched as I went to the nearby tables, and felt it only prudent not to annoy him on that round.

Incidentally, all this concern being shown about Boris at the table (i.e. Stop the Flashing or he Might Get Distracted in his First Big Tournament) seems counterintuitive - he's surely creating a lot of media buzz for Pokerstars and must be used to the paparazzi blinding him with their cameras by now.  I do, however, feel for the other players at the table.

Slightly disappointed by the hat after all that build up.

How about that of Wooka Kim?  She seems an intriguing character, what with the, er, hat, and the shades and the big box of Macadamia chocolates.  Like she might have bumped off a rich husband and be fleeing the country, stopping only for a brief high-stakes poker tournament.

Not really, of course - she actually won the Everest Poker 'Live the Dream' package which means she may be a familiar face on the tournament circuit for a while to come.  Well done her.

With Dana and Jen doing hatwatch, hoodiewatch, wristwatch and every other watch under the sun, I feel I should get involved with a watch of my own.

Drum roll please maestro...

BORISWATCH

After a slow (ahem) back and forth start, Boris has dropped down to 7,925 after locking horns with Mateyboy. After some brief pre-flop action, Boris check-raised a T-8-x Flop, and Mateyboy called. Both players checked down the raggy Turn and River before Mateyboy revealed T-8 to take the pot. Boris, meanwhile, showed an inferior pair of Pocket Nines.

Sharing a table with Gavin Griffin is Jon Friedberg, just one of many players in this room who seem to have won a World Series bracelet. He currently has 8,725 after doubling up an opponent. "Do I have to show if I call?" asked Frieberg as his foe pushed all-in for 1,950 on a 2c 8d Qc Flop. The answer, not surprisingly, was yes, but this didn't seem to deter the American, Jon calling with Ac Kh and being shown Aspades Qh. At this point, Gavin Griffin piped in with a "You would have folded if you didn't have the Ace of Clubs," but that joke almost turned into a reality, the Turn bringing a 4c before a 7s River left one player mighty relieved.

Also on this table is a sunglassed up to the max Joris Jaspers with 17,925, and a battered and bruised Gavin Griffin with just 2,450.

And not forgetting a bit of eye candy for the ladies, Mr Danny Ryan (21k at the last count):

Mickey Wernick, the Shortstack King, is on his way towards his comfort zone. He's down to 12k after mucking to the owner of our Trousers Of The Day who was holding K-Q on a rag-rag-King-King-rag board.

Mickey Wernick was on around 22k at one point, but lost a lot of chips with a full house, much to his own understandable disgruntlement. Before the Aces hand against, I believe, Spaniard Daniel Mangas, Mickey flopped a full house with Pocket Sevens on a J-J-7 board. Mickey checked, before smooth calling an 800 bet. 2k was then called on the Five Turn, before Mateyboy re-raised Mickey's 4k bet all-in on the King River. Mickey rhetorically asked, "The King helped you then?" before folding, his comments leading to the revealing of a most welcome K-J. Good fold, Mr Worm.

Go guys... GO GO GO GO GO !!!!!!

It doesn't end there ,Mr Pean, it's a Frenchfest over here, the latest Frenchie to get his hands dirty being Ludovic Lacay. I didn't see where the money in, but with one card to come and his opponent all-in, Ludovic Lacay had Tc 7c versus Ac 7h on a Kc 2c Qc 7d board. No club on the River and Mateyboy was sent packing. Victory for France!

Chip counts! I actually had custody of our mechanical eyeball when I went out, but you'll have to wait until I've edited and uploaded them. In the meantime please enjoy:

Dan Didech - 15k
James Honeybonster - 16k
The Lemon Man - 16.2k
Arnaud Mattern - 13k
Ed De Haas - 17.5k
Vicky Coren - 12.3k
Thomas Dunwoodie - 18.3k
Rumit Somaiya - 14k
Boris Becker, whose two bodyguards now do not want the press to count his chips either, but I was rude to them and then counted his chips from across the way; just as well he's more or less down to the felt on just 3.6k as small quantities of chips are so much easier to count from a distance. I wonder if the bodyguards tried to rough up whoever took the rest of his chips. Gah! Rant over. Sorry.
Mickey Wernick - 9k
Richard Ashby - 13.5k
Joris Jaspers - 22.5k
Jonothon Butters - 11.5k
Danny To The D-Ry Ryan - 23k
Vanessa Rousso - 16.5k
Manuel Palanca - 9k and a bit upset - he was muttering some stuff about it being hardly worth the effort, and also some stuff concerning the devilish good luck of the gentleman two seats to his left...
Neil Channing - 16.3k
Tim Vance - 9k
Gus Hansen - 22k
Marc Goodwin - 12.5k
Max Pescatori - 7k
Eric Larcheveque - 13.5k
John Tabatabai - 6.5k
Ram Vaswani - 35k at least
Michael Martin - 35k at least too - I asked him what happened, but all he said was, "I didn't really sleep much." ???
Joseph Serock - 14k

Back on Table Britain...

Manuel Palanca -- 9,350
Mats Iremark -- 25,250
Andrew Teng -- 25,850
Paul Bracken -- 13,500

Manuel Palanca was complaining of a poor run of cards. "I've only won three pots," he said. "One was a walk, the other I had 9-2 in the blind and flopped a two, and the other, I can't remember."

Manuel then went on to, perhaps with a touch of understandable envy, highlight Mats Iremark's good fortune. "This guy is unbeatable at the moment. He doubled up within the first level with Aces when someone pushed in with A-K on a King high Flop."

Also finding life tough is Paul Bracken, but he did just pull out a nice bluff on fellow Brit Andrew Teng. With a Flop of 5h-Ac-Jd, Andrew check-called a 1.2k bet before check-folding to a 3k bet on the Tc Turn. Andrew revealed As-Kh, confident that he was behind and perhaps hoping for a free look at Paul's hole cards. Happy to oblige, Paul proudly flipped over 9h-8h.

I found a T6 lady as well, but I win because mine is still playing and just took a pot off her neighbour (also pictured) in a small blind vs. big blind confrontation...

He raised by 600 in the sb, and Mme T6 called.  Flop:  9d 9s Kh.  He checked, she bet 800; call.
Turn:  Jd  Now he checked again, and she threw 2k out... shaking his head, he eventually passed - you can see he is still displaying that unique expression I like to call 'folder's frown.'

Michael Martin and Surinder Sunar just clashed in a moderate manner. There was 2k in the pot by the turn of the 7d 8d 4d Jh board, and Michael bet 1800. After a brief dwell, and possibly some conferring with his furry little friend, Surinder passed. Michael now on 40k, Surinder and his friend now on 15k.

BORISWATCH

Sadly, Boris is out. "You cannot be serious!" I hear you cry, but unfortunately we are. It was a back and forth rally that saw Boris' stack go up and down all day (well, just down actually), but after a series of shots that trickled over the net, Boris finally double faulted when he pushed all-in with Ace high on an 8-8-8-Q board. When Boris made the bet, the umpire stated that his chips were still behind the line. "It was on the line!" he replied with a squeal. Either way, his opponent called with a Pocket Pair, and after the raggy River, Boris was sent back to the changing room.

-----------

Andrew Teng (29,500) has now been plonked down next to Tim Vance (12,725) on Table Channing (16,875). Also present is Jonas Molander with 25,250.

Paul Testud and Mr Mate E. Boy check down a T-J-Q-8-J board all the way to the river, when Paul bets 400 in position. Mr Boy calls, and all present are amused to see Mr Testud turn over 9h 9d for the turned straight. "Do you have a flush?" asks Mr Testud in jest as Mr Boy mucks.

Sander Lylloff - 23k
Daniel Mangas - 12k
Alex Kravchenko - 11k
Daniel Negreanu - 19k

Today has really been one of those days where in a room full of action-generators I just haven't personally stumbled upon many fascinating hands.  I approach a table just when Joris Jaspers is stacking the result of winning a pot, cards being reshuffled, or when Vicky Coren gets a walk in her big blind (both of these heart-stopping events have occurred) but just now I approached Table Thor Hansen just as Thor was getting his remaining stack in the middle.

He'd moved all in for 5,125 into a pot of around 6k with the board standing 5s 6c Jc 9c.  His opponent took a surprisingly long time to call, seeing as he held Kc 3c for the second nuts and Thor had 9d 9h.  By no means drawing dead, the board failed to pair and sent the experienced Scandie to the rail.  My first exit experience of Day 1B. And his, too.

Evening,

good updates, if you can pick him out. can i have an update on Antoni Romanello pls (brother of roberto, look very similar)

thank you

Roberto was wandering through the cardroom in good spirits today, keeping an eye on his bro.  Apparently a concerted effort from him, Antoni and Mickey Wernick spun up the last-minute buy-in for Romanello #2 yesterday in the SNGs!

*Note* This is in no way meant to encourage the frivolous journeying of young poker players to places where it costs to breathe like Monaco in search of the Great Spin Up...

...But it does work sometimes.  He's currently on 18k

tx dana and snoopy, i notice richard didn't make it, any further info on james and jan always appreciated, tx again for the sterling work...

Mr Lee Nelson is alive, well and definitely still in - I actually have an awesome photo of him but Snoopy's wandered off with the camera. Neverends. Coming soon...

Jan's original seat is empty - this doesn't necessarily mean the worst has happened, but I'm afraid I can't see him anywhere currently so it is a definite possibility.

I was just passing table Brown/Negreanu/Testud/Iremark (depending on your nationality) when this hand kicked off...

Chad Brown raised to 500 utg (blinds still 100/200), called in late position by Mats Iremark and in the big blind by Paul Testud.
Flop:  Ahrt 3d 6h  Testud checks, Brown bets 700, called by Iremark, but that gets rid of Testud.
Turn: Td  Both players check.
River:  Jd  Now Chad Brown checks and then thinks about the 5k bet at him.  For a while.  But not an unreasonable length of time given that his stack couldn't have been more than c.22k.  He passes, and the chips are pushed over to the tricky Swede who is so unexpressive in victory and defeat that he appears botoxed.

Pictured:  Testud and Brown.  Neither of them won this hand.

Sander Lylloff bets 1800 on a Jd 9s 9h 7h board and Mateyboys x 2 call him.

The river is the housealicious Js - Mr Lylloffnow bets, er, a considerable sum - sorry, there was some shouting from another table and my attention wandered, but when I turned back to Table Lylloff, both Mateyboys had folded, letting Mr Lylloff rake in the chunky pot.

Potlet between Patrick Bueno and Dan Didech (Dcal Zone) filled up the last few minutes before the short break that just happened.  I caught this from Bueno betting 800 on a Qh 8s Qc 3s board, only to face a check-raise from Dcal.  The 2k lay there for a minute, while it was the American doing the talking, unexpectedly:  "You got a Queen?  Full house?" as he toyed with the 11,100 he had left behind.  Bueno called.  The river brought the Kd and another suspiciousish 2k bet out from Didech.  Bueno passed.  Most of the room had already left, though (isn't there something a little sad about winning when no one can see?)

Vicky Coren and fellow Brit Talal Shakerchi both check a 7h 6s 3s Ac board (I think they check it - I arrived as the river was just about to be dealt). Looked like there had been a bit of betting at some point before the turn, though.

The River - 2c - and Vicky, first to act, considers it for some time. Eventually she leans forward and says, "Do you have the Aspades, is that in your hand?" Very sensibly replies Talal, "I can't tell you that." She checks, and Talal turns over Jd Jc. Vicky picks up her cards, 9s Ts, and shakes them slowly as if admonishing them for not being the winning hand. It's all very good-natured though, as evidenced by all the smileyness etc below:

Have you guys been able to get a deacent pic for me yet?

Sorry - hang on just a little bit more and both sets of chips will be coming.  We are still suffering one-camera three-fallible-updaters syndrome.

Ta-Da!  I am not actually allowed to touch any chips, but this player had the neatest stack giving excellent examples of all colours:

(OK a not-so excellent) 1 brown 5k chip
7 blue 1k chips
4 red 500 chips
13 black 100 chips
12 green 25 chips    Altogether now his stack is.......?

any chance we can get updates on faraz jaka (aka the-toilet 0):

tytytyty

With an interesting dress sense and blonde highlights in his hair, I knew Faraz would be relatively easy to find, and that proved to be the case as he was unearthed on Table Lee Nelson at the very far end of the room. Unfortunately, my arrival seemed to have jinxed him, as I popped my beady eyes around the corner just in time to see poor Faraz being dealt a good old fashion rogering by New Zealand maestro and former Aussie Millions Champ Lee Nelson. It all went crazy on a Kd 6d Js Flop, a flurry of raises seeing Lee Nelson make the final push with Ad 8d. Faraz made, what may have been a near obligatory call in an already meaty pot with Jc Ts, but was ultimately unable to survive the 2s and... wait for it.... 9d River.

When I first saw the photo of Faraz, I thought he might be the more vocal type who wears his heart firmly on his sleeve, but, unexpectedly, he remained cool in defeat and took it like a man. Lee Nelson, meanwhile, who even rose from his seat on the Turn and consequently interrupted his own massage, seemed truly relieved to have survived his all-in, and, along with his masseuse (Lee must have been paying well) was all smiles by the time he raked in the pot.

Not since Waterloo have France experienced such a disaster, but I'm saddened to report that Fabrice Soullier has gone the same way as Napoleon and finally bitten the dust. Shortstacked and in desperate need of a double up, Fabrice made his move with K-Q, but went hurtling into an A-K which called quicker than a hiccup. A T-7-8-3-3 rainbow Flop was no good and the Frenchman was gone.

--------

Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier is OUT. Jacks v Kings. What a fish, he'll never win anything.

--------

All-in with Td 5d against Jc Js on a 9d 8d 6s Flop (I shall assume the chips went in on the Flop), Ludovic Lacay managed to hit a 9d on the River to take a most welcome of pots.

Something for a few of you now (OK, mullacott and the guy who wins the hand I'm about to describe, mainly...)

Let me start with this photo - this is Winning Matey at the end of the hand (not wearing a green feathery hat - just an awkwardly placed plant:

I arrived at the table as the eventual victor was dwelling in front of a Qd Kh Th flop considering calling a 5,500 bet.  He did.
Turn:  2d  WinnerMatey checked again, and this time faced something in the region of 7k.  Back to this guy who called, leaving himself 6,500, which garnered a few raised eyebrows.
River: 5d  Now check once again.  A reluctant check behind as the Loser shows down Qh Qc.... and is shown the victorious, and clearly surprising to the loser, Ad Td...

Now here's the photo of the player who lost the hand, on the left of Neil Channing.  The reason I didn't crop Channing out of this hand which has nothing to do with him, is twofold.  One, he said, "I am photogenic," or something along those lines, and Two, I'd counted his stack at 25,200, when it was actually 25,100 and he said, "Do you think that would be good enough for Bloomberg?"

Finally, the card protector of the rivered player - is he perhaps the one earlier referred to with the 'toilet' nickname??

Benoit Gariepy - 45k
Daniel Mangas - 25k
Eric Larcheveque - 11.5k

Yes, and that extraordinary Mickey Wernick hand.

I arrive just in time to see a Qc 4h 2d flop, and to see that Mr Trousers Of The Day (who I have discovered is called Michiel Brummelhuis) has bet 1600 and that a Mateyboy to Mickey's immediate right has made it 4k. Mickey sighs and checks his hole cards. THEY'RE ACES!!! Sorry, got a bit excited there, but at this point Roberto Romanello taps Mickey on the shoulder. "I'm just in a hand here," says Mickey. Roberto comes over to where I'm standing. "Didn't realise he was in a hand there."

MICKEY FOLDS!!!

Ahem. Says Roberto, "Did you see his pass?!?! He passed Aces!!!" Mr Brummelhuis-Trousers calls. Mickey gets up and comes over to us. "I passed Aces. I trap-checked and the guy bet, but then the other guy went over the top." Meanwhile Mr Brummelhuis and Mr Mateyboy check down the 8d turn and the 5s river.

Michiel Brummelhuis - J-J
Mateyboy - 8-T

An almighty sigh from Mickey...

Manuel (I genuinely can't stop thinking about Faulty Towers whenever I write that name) has doubled up to 19k. He raised to 1k from the cut-off with Tens before smooth calling an extra 1.2k re-raise from the small blind. The small blind led out on the 8-9-J Flop, Manuel pushed all-in and Mateyboy called with Kings. Manuel Turned a Seven for the straight and proceeded to jump onto the table swinging his trousers over his head whilst chanting "I am a golden God, I am a golden God!". Okay, maybe that last bit was made up.

Eeeeeexit at the hands of Ed de Haas, one of the biggest names in poker.

He was playing against the gent pictured below (anyone identify) who, if one was going to judge him by a quick look, one might think to be a pretty solidish player, maybe cautious - after all this is nearly the last level of the day and he had a little over his starting stack.  Of course, it's absolute rubbish to make such conclusions based on nothing at all, as this hand illustrates perfectly:

Ed de Haas raised preflop to 1,150, called by the small blind.
Flop:  4c Qc 7d  SB bet out 3k pretty fast, but not as fast as de Haas called it.
Turn: 8d  Now he bet out 4k, got raised by 13k, moved all in (the only raise option left to him, and it wasn't a lot), call.

de Haas:  Ahrt Qh
SB Matey:  Kc 2c

The river - a blank (considering) 3d and the stacked player just kind of sat there shell-shocked for a few moments (which is when I took this picture - discreetly and without flash, of course) before wandering off.    Then, like at school when someone leaves the room and everyone else talks about him, they did that.

Below are chip counts for some of the remaining players that have been requested today. If we've missed anyone, please give us a shout, although the chances are that they might be out.

Thomas Dunwoodie -- 14,500
Lee Nelson -- 15,325
Vicky Coren -- 14,100
Neil Channing -- 31,300
Mickey Wernick -- 15,200
Steve Paul-Ambrose -- 5,875
Michael Martin -- 68,500
Andrew Teng -- 28,575
Manuel Palanca -- 23,150
Paul Bracken -- 22,000

No sign of James Honeybone, Tero Laurila, Maz Nawab, Faraz Jaka, Jeff Garza or Mike McDonald, so it looks as though they may have been eliminated.

James Honeybonster is indeed OUT. "It's like I was going forwards in a snow plough, but it was in reverse." Not sure I understand that particular simile, but most of the damage was done with A-K v J-J earlier on, and he never really recovered.

One Neil Channing has been moved to Vicky Coren's table - yikes...

And he's wasted no times in getting involved. Vicky limps utg and Mateyboy in Seat 9 (henceforth to be known as MB9) makes it 900 to go. The ginger Mateyboy in Seat 1 (henceforth - MB Ginger) calls. Neil on the button makes it 3k. "Nothing to see here," he says to me, "It's going to be a small pot." The blinds and Vicky fold, but MB9 and MB Ginger call.

Flop - 4d 8d 7d and it checks to Neil, who promptly bets 6.5k. To which MB9 promptly announces all in. MB Ginger gets out of the way, and so too does  Neil. He's now down to 22k or so.

I'm sorry, I'm very tired now.  ;sleep;

"Mike, Mike," exclaims Mickey Wernick beckoning over his sponsor. "Look at this for a beat, hit it on the Turn."

On a 9s 4c Kc Ac 9h board, Frenchman Antoine Nahas had bet out 8k, only for Mickey to hesitantly call with Qc Tc, saying "Got the full house? If you've got the full house, you've won" as he hovered the chips over the felt.

As Mickey planted the 8k onto the baize, Antoine flipped over 4d 4s, much to the Worm's dismay. "Yeah, you got it," he sighs in admission.

Mickey down to 7k and, dare I say it, looking mighty pissed off.

------------

Looking like the Robert Wadlow of poker as he rises from his chair and puffs his beating chest out, Frenchman Eric Larcheveque prays for divine assistance from the poker gods as his paltry in comparison A-8 goes tete-a-tete with Chaoul Berdugo's A-T. With an Eight hitting the K-Q-8 Flop, Eric finds all his prayers answered immediately as Chaoul can do nothing but bang his fist on the table. A Five Turn and Nine River are of no use and Chaoul drops down to 17.5k. Eric, meanwhile, although donning a smile wider than Pavarotti's pants, still only has 6k.

thanks!

This is he!  I know because I asked him - the cop out way to get information, when the underground network runs dry.  He was having a massage just a moment ago  and looked pretty happy, with around 43,000.  Not a bad stack at all.  He seemed endearingly surprised to have been asked about online (via a kind of US-UK-forum Columbo by Gobbomom :)   ) and I said he had requests for updates on him.  "I want fans!  I have more chips than he does..." wheedles Glen Chorney (sat two to Sulsky's right, incidentally.  So he gets a photo too, and a count:  52k.  Let's hear some Glen support!

Steve Paul-Ambrose, who, I believe, won the Caribbean Poker Adventure a year or two back, was last spotted walking away from the table, down the hallway and towards the exit with a face like a smacked bottom. I've never claimed to be the brains of Britain, but I'd say that suggests he's out.

A few quick chippy counts:

Mickey Wernick -- 11,575
Paul Bracken -- 19,850
Mike McDonald -- 10,950
Jonothon Butters -- 19,625
Manuel Palanca -- MIA
Dan Dedich -- 22,000
Marc Goodwin -- 40,000
Rumit Somaiya -- 13,175
Vicky Coren -- 16,750
Neil Channing -- 25,800
Surinder Sunar -- 22,200
Glen Chorny -- 38,850
Michael Martin -- 80,000
Andrew Teng -- 23,425

Manuel Palanca - 22k (his table was broken so forgive Snoopy's declaring him out, is most easily done in the Monte Carlo Poker Factory)

Rumit Somaiya - 13k. Oh no, hang on! As I'm standing there chatting with him, confessing that I haven't done any chip counts in a while so I can't really tell him who the chip leaders are, that sort of thing, a Mateyboy makes it 1300 utg and Rumit is the sole caller. They both check the 6h Th 6d flop, and then UTG MB checks the 5s turn - Rumit bets 1800 and takes it. "How much have you got now?" say I. "Is that 15k?" Says Rumit - "If it is, that's the first time all day!"

Rumit Somaiya - 15.4k, and beaming.

We are literally minutes away from the end of play, at which point we intend to scarper at high speed to avoid the miserable 45-minute wait for a taxi in front of the casino that we had to endure last night. In fact, the clock has stopped! Snoops says they've cleared the press out of the tournament area for the last 5 hands so we are so out of here...

Mad Harper says no chip counts or payout until tomorrow :( but we'll be back bright and early with all that good stuff. See you for Day 2 at 1pm (12 noon GMT)...
