Title: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Day 2 - At A Glance
Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 26, 2008, 02:45:08 AM
79 players return today. Chips counts to follow.

But who is going to win? Is Marc Goodwin, with 150k, a certainty to make the final table? Will Pete Linton bulldoze his way through the field? Can John Conroy become a true 'Rock Star' by winning the event?

All these questions and more that I might make up later, could well be answered at some point, perhaps, in this thread during an allotted period of time. Maybe.

We restart at 2pm.

Join us, or we'll photoshop it to make it look like you joined us anyway.

Fast start down here, JJ Hazan took 20k off Mark Goodwin first hand, re-raising him preflop and pushing a Queen-high board, Goodwin electing to fold his A-K.

Joe Grech has knocked out Simon Turton with one of those nasty coinflip "Hurrah-Oh-Crap" moments, Turton was holding 9c 9d to Grech's Ad Jh, the board coming 2d 4c 3c 9s 5s.

Matt Tyler has picked up an early double up with Tens vs Glenn Ashworth's Ace Ten.

Paul Gourlay is on song also, he's already knocked out both James Browning and Mark Jones on his table.

Dean Sanders is OUT, he pushed from the button over the top of Thomas 'Traffic Light' Treacy with King Jack but ran into Kings. "Somehow he took over a minute to dwell..." said Dean with a shrug.

Nik Persaud told me of a big three-way pot where Craig Metcalf, who had lost a big pot pushed for around 10k, T Lukashaugen called after a dwell, before JJ Hazan raised to isolate. Lukashaugen then pushed for 45k and JJ snap-called for his stack.

Metcalf: Ahrt Kd

Lukashaugen: Ad Jd

Hazan: Aspades Qs

Board: 7c 5c 4d 7d 5s

;kc;

Nik said, (Indicating Lukashaugen), "He should really re-raise to isolate, and if you're (JJ Hazan) are going to isolate you should be moving all-in. In fact you both played it terribly, what are you doing???"

Must add, that this last line was said in a fairly joking manner.

Kuljinder Sidhu knocked out T Jugpal but then has just doubled up Maz Nawab in a massive pot.

I didn't see when the money went in, but Maz was holding Aspades Kh, Kujinder, Ac Qc and the board was reading Ad 8h 9d Ahrt 6c.

Richard Stanley has doubled through Michael Clarke with Ac Ad vs Kd Kc.

Patrick Dolan has doubled through Paul Lammas with K-K vs J-T, all-in on the flop of a T-9-4-Q-J board.

Marc Goodwin has just knocked out John Murphy.

Willie Tann and Nick Slade are both OUT.

Jamil Ogunmakinwa (Now there's a big name) is keeping his head above water, but only just when he survived a sweat with 3-3 against Kevin Bloor's autocall with Jh 8h.

Paul Gourlay just paid off 20k, (a huge chunk of his stack) on a Jh Qh 6s 3c Ahrt board, when his opponent showed the nutty Kh 9h.

Tahir 'Maldini32' Akram has doubled up with Kh Jh on a Jc 5d 4c Qs 5s vs Finbar Tracey's 9s 9c. All-in on the flop.

Laurence Houghton has knocked out MH Kazi with A-K vs Q-5 after the latter made a big button push and ran smack bang into Houghton in the big blind.

Marty Smyth has busted, looked like he'd suffered a few hits and was all-in with A-Q vs T-9 on a Q-J-4 board but was drawing dead after the 8 turn.

Paul Gardner is OUT. Kd Qd looked good but lost out to the current coinflipping king Joe Grech's Jh Jc.

Over on table 7, a crowd was developing. Glen Ashworth and Maz Amiri were both already all-in and Barry Grime was dwelling for ages, inexplicably then showing Tc 9c after a good two minute dwell.

Glen showed Ad Ks to Maz Amiri's Jh Js

Board: Kd 8h 3s 2h 4h

Maz OUT. Glen over 50k.

Pete Linton has lost a chunk of his stack firing 12.5k on the river of a T-9-8-Q-2 board but being looked up by 7s 6s.

Zachary Ford has eliminated Kevin Bloor with Js Jc vs Aspades Kd on a Ahrt Jd Kh 5c 9h board. All the money predictably in on the flop. Zachary must be over 100k now also.

JJ Hazan was kicking himself having openly folded Queens only to be shown Jacks, soon after though, he himself pushed over the top of Paul Gourlay's raise. Paul thought for about 4 minutes before folding Ace King, this time JJ showed King Queen.

Henning Granstad was down to 15k after having A-K cracked by a rivering A-5. But soon after, he was all-in in a three-way pot with 8-5 against Matt Tyler and Kyle Macpherson on a Q-T-8 board, Kyle bet Matt out of the pot with K-J but missed everything allowing the Norwegian to almost triple up. Matt was not impressed with this play, (I'm assuming Matt had a Ten).

Since then, Matt Tyler has been knocked out by Kyle with Kings being cracked by Tens.

G Stafford doubled up through Morris McCarthy just before the break on a Td 3d Ks board. He lead out for 10k in a raised pot, which also involved Pete Linton. Morris moved in quickly, and Pete passed just as fast. Stafford thought for a while before eventually calling all-in, Morris had a slightly bemused looked on his face when he saw that Stafford had dwelt for over a minute with 3s 3h, ahead against Morris' monster Ad Jd draw. Ac came on the turn and Stafford made quads on the 3c river.

Zachary Ford raises to 8.5k preflop, Andrew Brisland re-raises to 23k with around 33k back. Ford calls.

Th 4d 8d

Check check.

8h

Check check. (Have I found the Brit version of Soren Jensen and Tim Vance?)

8c

Andrew checks a third time, Zachary suddenly realises he can win the pot and bets 20k, Andrew folds sharpish.

Zachary knocks out Andrew soon after with Tc Th vs Aspades Ts, despite the flop coming out Ahrt 7s 4s...The river was the miracle one-outer Td. The table is then broken and dealer tells me that she's dealt 14 exits in the last couple of hours...

More tables for this lady!!!

Marc Goodwin continues to dominate the chip lead, but he has lost a pot just now, folding to Tien Le's 20k river bet on a Kc Tc 5c 2s 2h board.

Henning Granstad is OUT, he just lost a race with Threes to Kyle Macpherson's King Jack.

Phil Roddy is OUT. His 7-5 no match for Kareem Louis' K-J.

Good news is blondeites Bluffer (Stephen Sass), PeteL, (Pete Linton) Lurkio (Adam Lawler) are all still in.

Adam Lawlor just lost a big pot to Charles Ihle, the latter pushing from the button over the top of Adam's hijack raise. Adam did some 'Ummming' and 'Ahhhring' before calling with his 4s 4d, his read was correct as his opponent showed the hoped-for two overcards, in Ahrt Jd and he was rewarded by the 4c being the first card out. Unfortunately, this was then followed by a 3h 2s 7h 5d board making a wheel for Charles to keep him in the comp.

Tien Le has knocked out Rob Bright with Ad 7d vs Kd Qh on a Aspades 9c Jh 2c 7c board. I think Rob may have made a big bluff on the river here.

Steve Holden is OUT. Q-5 into Steve Littlejohn's Tens.

Pete Linton lost a chunk of his stack calling a re-raise all-in with 9d 8d against  Paul Lammas' Aspades 5d and missing.

"It was 30k to win 60k, so I think it's the right call." Pete is now short with about 55k.

Irina Liepina is OUT. From the other players it sounded like she had a torrid afternoon of overpair after overpair cracked. She pushed with Tens and was called by Nik Persaud's Ac Jc which spiked on the 7h Kh Js 9c Jh board.

After she'd gone, Nik was magnanimous in victory, "I thought she was the best player on the able. I think she might even be better than Steve [Jelinek]..."

Paul Gourlay has doubled up with Ahrt Aspades vs Adam Aitken's Ac Kh.

Kyle Macpherson has busted out Chris Brammer with Ad Qd vs Ks Ts. A vital ace on the flop, though the worrisome bother a flush draw that never materialised.

And the unlucky 28th place finisher is Tien Le.

He got short before pushing Kd Qc into Joe Grech's Ahrt Ac, the board coming 9h Kc 7s 3s 9s.

During the same hand on a different table, Pete Linton had raised to 12k. Morris McCarthy had 6k in the big blind with 8k behind and would've called all-in with 5s 5h if Tien hadn't been knocked out. Pete showed Ad Ahrt and bemoaned his luck.

But perhaps he'd already had his luck, being all-in with Ac 2h vs Aspades Ks, the board saving him coming 9c 6d 8d 8c 6c, though the shouts of Charles Ihle that said, "I passed deuces," probably didn't help.

Players are having their break now.

As predicted, Morris McCarthy is OUT, 1 BB wasn't enough to come back. Also gone is Adam 'Lurkio' Lawler, crippled with 4h 4d vs Pete Linton's Ad 9d, who flopped two pair and doubled up as a result.

Glen Ashworth is also gone, he held Td 9d but Laurance Houghton was holding Jacks on a Ten-high board.

They're being whittled down quickly, but looks like Marc Goodwin and Joe Grech already have their final table seats locked up.

Mark Goodwin has knocked out Nick Honey.

Paul Gourlay is absolutely steaming...

Steve Littlejohn raised from the button to 15k, Paul made it 43k and Steve pushed for roughly 57k more.

Paul: Kc Ks

Steve: 9c 8c

Board: 5c Jd Td Qc 7h

As the 7h comes down, Paul throws his headphones on the table in pure frustration at the outdraw this deep for a 230k pot, whilst Steve is jubilant, "Get in there!!" he shouts.

Next to him, Carlo Holmes (Sherlock's Spanish Cousin) has knocked out Kujinder Sidhu with 5s 5c vs Kh 4h, the 5d on the flop sealing it.

Tahir 'Maldini32' Akram has lost a few chips back, raising with Aspades 4s and having to call Finbar Tracey's push. He was, as he feared dominated by Ad Qd, and failed to catch the needed 4.

G Stafford is out in 19th place. He lost with Ac Qs to Charles Ihle's Jc Tc when a Ten popped out first card and then called all-in with Jh Tc to Paul Lammas' Ac Th push from the small blind, perhaps out of frustration, and failed to hit his 3-outer on a 5c 5s 4d 3c Aspades board.

We're now down to two tables, we will be be playing to the end of the next level or the final table, which ever happens first. I'm thinking we'll be coming back for a 2pm start tomorrow with about 12 players.

120k or so for Pete, "Marc Goodwin is owning me."

80kish for Aarun.

Aarun Bernard has doubled up with Kc Qc against Joe Grech's Ad Aspades.

Qh 7h 6s 2c Qs

"Yes!!! Get in there!!! The black guy is back in the game!!!"

Steve Littlejohn continues his unnerring habit of healthy outdraws by pushing over the top of Marc Goodwin's cut-off raise with Ks 7c and being snapped called by Qd Qh.

7s 7d 9s Tc 4d is the board and Littlejohn is now on 250k. Marc loses his first big pot probably all day.

A fight has broken out in the bar apparently. I didn't see much but Karl Mahrenholz said, "I saw one bloke with blood on his hands, and another with blood on his face, they may have been connected."

Cue sudden interest from every single player and railbird around the tournament area getting interested in the ruckus. Obviously none of them come to Manchester much. ::)

Kyle Macpherson has gone, racing his Ac Qd against Joe Grech's 8d 8h on a Kd 5c 9s 7d 2s to leave 16 players left.

Soon after Joe Grech was setting another player all-in, again with Eights, this time against Nik Persaud who had Kings which held, propelling Nik up to around 260k and perhaps his 3rd GUKPT final table this year.

Tahir Akram is holding on in there, but desperately needs to double through.

Carlos Holmes is OUT. Pushing Ks 5h from the small blind into Laurance Houghton's Th Td in the big blind.

Marc Goodwin knocked out Mal Dawson with A-K vs K-Q.

Soon after though, Marc gave a lot of chips over to Laurance, these two have been sparring quite a bit all day, Marc betting 40k on the river of a 8s Ac Jh 2c 5h board and Laurance beating him into a pot with Ahrt 7d. Marc only able to show Kd Th.

But then Laurance lost a lot of chips, calling Paul Lammas' all-in bet quickly, as you would with Ahrt Ad, in fine shap against Aspades Ts. The board came 6s Js 5d 8h 3s, putting Paul over 200k now.

Nik Persaud has knocked out JJ Hazan in 13th, raising with 9d 9c and calling the Jd Td push.

Ahrt 2d 5c 7h 7d

"Please put up a picture of Steve Ovett and say I race as good as him," pleads Nik.

Done and done.

Play is now finishing for the day as Kev has one more exit...

Tahir "Maldini32" Akran.. is OUT 12th.

He was knocked out by the lad who runs better than the bionic lovechild of Ben Johnson and Linford Christie PETE LINTON

Petes  Ac Jc made a straight on the river to beat Maldini32's  Ad Kc
