Title: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Final Day - At A Glance
Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 27, 2008, 02:44:30 AM
11 players remain.

Marc Goodwin  - 583,200
 Nik Persaud  - 364,100
 Zachary Ford  - 344,900
 Steve Littlejohn  - 330,800
 Laurence Houghton  - 300,400
 Joseph Grech  - 279,600
 Charles Ihle  - 232,600
 Paul Lammas  - 225,600
 Pete Linton  - 201,700
 Aarun Bernard  - 156,300
 Paul Gourlay  - 95,700

Play restarts at 2pm with the blinds at 6k/12k.

Can Marc Goodwin hold on to the chip lead for the last and most crucial day? Could Nik Persaud make his 3rd GUKPT final table this year and more importantly, finally win the title? Will someone else come from nowhere and surprise us all?

And the biggest question of all, will Kev get over his hatred of this picture?

Two Paul tales for you now.

In the very first hand, Paul Gourlay moves over the top of Joe Grech's button raise, an auto-call for Joe who shows Kh Jc, Paul flips 7c 7h, but then places his hands on his head when the first card is the Jh, it's then followed by the Aspades then a beautiful 7d, Paul shouts "Yes!", but then for a sweat the Js appears on the turn, but the river is a blank 4d. Paul moves up to 190k, Joe drops to around 185k.

Over on the other table Aarun Bernard pushes over the top of Paul Lammas' raise. Paul has him covered but only by about 60k or so.

Paul, "I have a big hand here mate..."

Aarun, "I know you do..."

Eventually it's too much, Paul decides he has to call.

Aarun: Kh Ks

Paul: Th Ts

Board: 6s Ahrt Jd 8d 9d

Yes, Nik Persaud raised from the button, and Joe, who had earlier bluffed Nik off a pot with 9-high, moved in. Nik snap-called with Ac Qs, Joe showed Ad Kh.

Board: Kc...Qh...Qd....3d...2c

Nasty cooler for Joe who departs in 11th place winning £3,090.

Soon after, Zachary Ford raises from the button and the short-stacked Steve Littlejohn pushes from the small blind, an autocall.

Ford: 8h 7h

Littlejohn: Ad Qs

Board: 8d 2h 5d 4h 5s

Steve Littlejohn is OUT in 10th place winning £4,640

We're now down to our final table. Redraw and counts to follow, along with photos, but for some, the action is too much already...

Marc raises to 30k, Charles Ihle, newly-equipped with chips re-raises to 60k, Marc quickly moves all-in and Charles, faced with possible elimination after accquring a decent sized stack, decides instead to opt for a fold rather than risk it.

Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Final Day - At A Glance
Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 27, 2008, 04:59:46 PM
Laurance limps from the small blind, Marc checks his option.

Tc 6s Kd

Check check.

Jc

Laurance bets 13k and Marc passes. Laurance holds his cards high up enough for everyone behind to see he was holding Ahrt Qc for the nuts. (He did also say to the table he had the nuts but didn't show). It's an interesting tactic as Marc has been 3-betting Laurance a lot over the last couple of days, so perhaps the latter is trying a new tactic of hoping Marc will get out of line with him.

Next hand, Aarun raises to 32k, and Laurance calls on the button.

8d 3c 4s

Aarun checks, Laurance bets 37k and Aarun immediately raises to 95k. Laurance folds.

All very standard and non-descript play now. No-one is talking much, already I think we're missing Pete Linton winding people up...

Marc raises to 34k, Zachary Ford calls but folds to a 70k bet on the 8c 8s 3h flop.

Paul Lammas raises to 32k, Laurance re-raises to 90k. Paul looks a little annoyed but he folds.

Charles Ihle limps the small blind, but Paul Gourlay takes no prisoners and moves all-in. Charles folds.

Aarun Bernard check/raises Laurance Houghton off another pot.

Zach Ford raises, Aarun Bernard flat-calls, Paul Lammas moves all-in. Zachary Ford asks for a count, it's 121k. Zach now moves in and Aarun folds.

Zach: 9c 9s

Paul: Ac Qh

Flop:

Ad (Shouts of "YEEEEEEEEEES!!!" from Paul's friends) 9d ("Ahhhhhhh" says the crowd) Qs (Deep breath intake sound from everyone)

Turn:

7h

River:

5d

Paul Lammas is OUT in 8th place winning £9,270.

Aarun Bernard is delighted because he also had A-Q and would have obviously done his stack on the flop.

Charles raises to 40k from early position. Aarun re-raises to 90k from the button. Charles passes Tens face up, Aarun shows Aces and wins the pot, though you suspect the real winners are everyone else at the table.

Norkage FTW ......................... oops forgot this is Manchester lol

Norkage can't win, it doesn't seem to be participating at the moment. C'mon Kev, give the NAS some eye candy. You've given us absolutely nothing to chew on all week and, quite frankly, it's a total disgrace.

Shouldn't you be on holiday? Bugger off.

Marc Goodwin raises to 35k, Nik Persaud and Aarun Bernard call from the blinds.

Kd Td 9d

Nik leads out for 50k, Aarun folds and Marc calls.

5d

Check check

4s

Check check.

Nik shows Qc Jc for the flopped straight. Marc held Kc 9c and the turn saved him from losing more chips.

Soon after, it's Nik raising to 40k, Marc calling from the big blind, "I'm on tilt!"

Js Kc 6s

Check check.

7c

Check, dwell from Nik. Check.

2h

Marc bets 35k, Nik calls after another dwell. Marc shows Jh Th having outflopped Nik's Td Ts.

Charles Ihle raises to 40k, gets no callers and shows the boots. That's just in case you missed him folding Tens to the re-raise earlier.

Marc checks, Charles bets 40k. Marc calls.

3h

Marc checks, Charles bets 40k again. Marc calls again.

Jh

Marc now bets 60k and Charles shakes his head and shrugs looking at the board and calls. Marc shows Kh 9h for the flush. Charles looks a bit pissed.

Marc Goodwin -- 900k
Zachary Ford -- 620k
Charles Ihle -- 160k

I have no idea why we've been this delayed...

We've finally restarted.

Charles moves all-in, doesn't get a caller and shows Queens.

Incidentally, they aren't the Children of the Damned in the background there...

Marc continues to punish Laurance with position, first re-raising his 52k raise to 172k, then calling a 26k bet on a 9c 7d Qc flop in a sb/bb battle. Both check the 5d turn before Laurance bets 50k on the 4d river. Marc calls with 8c 5s. It's good.

Other than that, players have really tightened up, multiple walks are being handed out, Nik Persaud the recipient of at least three so far.

Obviously not enough wine with their meals...

Nik raises to 60k, Laurance re-raises to 160k, passed back to Nik who sticks in around 30 blue 10k chips covering Laurance, the latter shrugs and calls for his stack.

Nik: Kd Kh

Laurance: Ac Qd

6d 2h Tc Jh 4c

Laurance Houghton is OUT in 6th place winning £15,450

Nik has about 1.4 million, Marc is on about 1 million, Bernard has about 400k or so and Charles has around 200k. (Rough guestimates)

Spot a less than sober Alex Martin in the background...

Marc raises to 50k, but Zach re-raises to 200k. Marc folds.

Aarun limps in the small blind, Marc moves in, (setting Aarun in effectively). Aarun snap calls and shows Qc Qs, Marc shows Ahrt 2h. But you can play a hand perfectly, and still the fickle finger of fate finds a way to frustrate you...

2c Ad 6s 7d Td

Straight afterwards the laddering up Charles Ihle calls all-in for his 125k stack with Jc Td against Marc Goodwin's Aspades 9h

Jh 3h 8s 2s Qd

And Charles Ihle has just over 250k and is now upgraded to a small-time Charlie.

Marc limps the button, Zachary makes up the small blind and Nik checks.

6h Ac 9s

Zach and Nik check, Marc bets 50k, Zach moves in and Nik and Marc instantly fold.

This now gives Zachary raising chips, and he raises to 70k from the button. Marc calls from the big blind. "Insta-calls," corrects Marc.

We're now on a 20 minute break before the HU battle, which will start with 15k/30k blinds. Marc probably has just over a 2:1 lead.

Not many raised or noticeable pots so far. Nik has gained a bit of ground, calling bets of 30k and 35k on the turn and river of a T-K-T-6-5 board with K-2, Marc forced to show 4-3.

Still early days though.

Marc raises to 65k, Nik calls.

Nik checks, Marc bets 60k, Nik passes.

Nik has been whittled back down, raising preflop to 75k and being called.

Nik bet 95k on the 9c 4c Ahrt flop, but gave up after being called, checking the rest of the 2s Td board down. His Qc Jc losing to Marc's 9h 8d.

Soon after he lost another largish pot, calling 60k on the flop of 6d Qh 6c, both checked the Ac on the turn before Nik check/folded to Marc's 160k bet on the river.

Looks like Nik has about 450k left or so.

Marc is understandably jubilant but Nik didn't feel too down about the last hand. "I have to call there, if I win I'm back up to 850k or so, and he moves in with a lot of Aces, but a lot of other hands too, K-Q, K-J, worse Tens."

Kev is just trying to upload the last few photos.
