Title: Expekt.com Norwegian Championships ME: Day 1b - Interactive
Post by: JungleCat03 on May 02, 2008, 02:26:42 PM
:hello: and welcome back to DTD for day 1b of the Norwegian championships.

Yesterday saw a fiery start to the event, with the 249 runners whittled down to a mere 70 in next to no time. The aggressive play is likely to continue apace today as a fresh batch of Norwegians and scattered homegrown players are deposited within the bowels of DTD.

Many of the big names from Norway will be appearing today including Johnny Lodden, Trond Eidsvig (or as Dana knows him, the future Mr Immanuel) and although unconfirmed as of yet, WSOPE bracelet winner Annette Obrestad willl almost certainly be diving into the event in her calm, reserved but highly capable fashion. Thusfar, the norwegians have been a breath of fresh air, exhibiting an enthusiasm for poker that is in complete accord with our own love of poker. We love em!

We can't wait to see how the day pans out. Will we catch another glimpse of pink hatted, snake trouser man? Can Johnny Lodden put the heartache of recent EPTs behind him to make a serious run at the championship? Will the player base consist almost entirely of players called Jan?

Join us for the 3pm start as we seek the answers to these and other questions. As usual, feel free to fire request for your favourite players at us and we will endeavour to get their chip counts, photos and pass on messages.

It should be a great day. Bring it on!!!!

Today another packed field has found its way into Nottingham's Dusk Till Dawn, basking in the luxuriousness of the club, enjoying copious amounts of alcohol and generally bringing a little bit of laid-back Norway to the North of England.  As well as those already mentioned, among the invaders are Gunnar Ostebrod, Frode Fagerli, Rolf Woods, Henning Granstad, Jan Sjavik, and many others you may know by their online nicks, or not at all...

Meanwhile the small UK contingent bravely testing themselves in the No Limit Hold'em Arena include, today:
Nick Hicks
Ian Frazer
Stephen Holden
Pete Linton
Mad Turk
Sam Trickett
Rupinder Bedi
Chris Bruce
Ali Mallu
Dave Colclough
Lawrence Gosney
Maz Nawab.

Just to let you know the final chip counts have been posted up on the day 1a thread.

Guess who's top of the tree at the moment...

Here's a few hints for you. He's a nice guy, he runs good, he wins almost everything. That's enough nudges for now, I'll leave it up to thew to decide who it is.

Here's a sort of timelapse peek at what a typical Norwegian weekend at Dusk Till Dawn looks like.  Featured is blondeite InsaneTTM, who is apparently such a keen follower of poker that one of his four computer monitors is monitoring poker fora around the world at all times, including blonde...

He's what he describes as a "Happy Amateur," enjoying the game and happy to come over here just for the craic... he's actually a massive Villa fan too and had somehow already managed to book a trip over here before knowing that the Norwegian Championships were going to be on.  Oh happy coincidence!

So here's what he looked like last night, c. 3am, with the superb added bonus of pink hat man:

And today, extremely hungover, c. 3pm:

Like he says, "Stein by name, insein by nature!"

Just to add a proviso to the above list, it is not complete and a few names will be missing from it.

One name that is there is that of Fran, blondite LittlemissC, whose alcohol hunt last night has become the stuff of legend. She appears remarkably bright and breezy today though considering and was not posing in the slightest bit (LOL) as I took this shot of her looking mean and purposeful. Good luck Fran!

Could you keep an eye on Evilpie (Table 48, Seat 6   Matt Russell), well built bald bloke. He's not really meant to be allowed out unsupervised.

Tell him his good friend Mooooooooooohamed wishes him the luck of the cards. (His name must be pronounced with that many oooooooooo's)

Thanks, and good luck to everyone else!

I'm experiencing a few technical difficluties with my laptop which is misbehaving at present.

I've threatened to send it to bed without supper though which for now is doing the trick so it looks like we're back on track.

RIGHT!

One non-Norwegian playing today, whose name has risen in prominence in recent times is that of Pete Linton. After a good performance at the Irish Open Pete has notched up a final table at the GUKPT in Manchester and recently won a tournament at this very place, DTD.

I chatted with Pete and he commented on the early aggression he has witnessed "they [norwegians] sure like to play big pots early!"

As if to underline this point a largish pot breaks out on his table...

With the board reading 9d 6c 2c Qd, Erling Hartviksen bet out 1.6k and his opponent in the hand, Sven Hugo Vian, dwelt up for some time. Pete turned to me and said "it's been going on for about 5 minutes!" and called the clock on him.

"I want to play some hands in this level!" Pete told the table...Eventually Sven passed leaving Erling to sweep up the chips and buffer his stack at this early stage...

"I wanted to be in that hand" said Pete to Erling. "I had diamonds!!" and at this point he made a pushing gesture suggesting he would have piled his stack in. Improbable, given the early stages, but he got a laugh out of Sven anyway.

Here is the culmination of that hand, with Sven looking suspiciously at Erling as he passes...

...and Pete Linton, looking to continue his hot streak with  a good result here...

Here I find Ian Frazer, risking a shot at a tournament that isn't 6-handed and televised ;)

He was just now waiting for an opponent to make a decision at the end of a hand with the board standing: 6d 3c Kc Qs 6h.  He'd checked, "About an hour ago.  The Six completely killed my hand."  His oppo (the Matey on the right who appears to be the only one not interested in having his photo taken) must have checked too, because suddenly the chips were heading Frazerwards.  (Incidentally, loving the 'Poker King' logoed, weird troll doll hoodied dude's look).

"Wow - you were that bad?  What were you calling with?" enquires Frazer.
"4-5," comes the straight answer, "I hit I get the lot."
[pause]
"Maybe," concedes Ian.

He then points out that he's drinking tea.  Yes, tea, wholesome non-alcoholic tea.

Then he asks the waitress for another shot of Sambuca:

Two players sat next to each other whose names I know!  What are the odds?
It's Nick Hicks and Andreas Hoivold!

Also a rather scheming looking Dave, flanked by two stonily impassive players who look like they might be either wax statues or some kind of elite special forces bodyguards.

Over on the far side of the moon room I found this guy, Mark Doherty (in the white shirt, not the besunglassed one) - being railed by a superkeen Neil Henshaw + Mrs. who are just hanging out in DTD after he played yesterday.  Sharing his table is Gunnar Ostebrod.  Maria.

Whoops!  Unlucky fella, go and win some on the cash tables :)up

No luck involved mate. I was crap!!!

I think it was the structure that did me. When the blinds got to 50/100 I had to get them 8000 chips in fast!!

JJ on QK9Q2 board seemed like an ideal opportunity   ;noflopshomer;

That put me on 1600 and supertit supertilt.

I think the cash tables would be a very silly idea today. I'm off in to town to get blind drunk.  ;dewi;

Good luck everyone else left in.

Slightly concerned that Little Miss C is viewing this thread - hopefully it's someone at home .......? Can someone confirm she is still in please?

Yes still in.

In fact she was in an interesting hand as I approached her table.

The flop was A 3 3.

Fran bet out and was raised by the gentleman two seats to her left, who bears a passing resemblance to Andy Black. She passed and was shown 3-3 by the gentleman in question, a Mr Oerjan Alexander Pedersen.

Fran was very excited at this, allegedly passing A-J.

"I can't beleive you re-raised! I would have paid you off all the way! Wow!"

Here is a relieved Fran and the scandinavian version of Andy Black. Scandie Black if you will.

Of course many players have travelled a long way to play today but few will have travelled as far as this guy, who comes from a galaxy far, far away...

Dave Colclough is getting stuck in, involving himself in a few pots. After several limpers, Dave raised to 250 and received two calls.

The flop came Jc 9c 2h.

Check, check to Dave who threw a 500 chip out nonchalently. Called by one of the players, a Paul Johan Myklebust...

TURN: A rather draw completing Kc...

Check from Paul, and Dave also tapped the table...

RIVER: Tc

Checkage again regined supreme.

"Two pair!!" anounced Paul chirpily and although Dave also revealed two pair in the form of J-T it was no good versus Paul's K-J.

Small set back for El Blondie there, but he wiped out this chip loss the very next hand, calling a riase pre and betting 700 on the turn of a 7-8-J-3 board, which was sufficient to take the pot down.

Excellllent!

It was somewhat surprising for the first day to be reminded of how calmly and gentlemanly the Norwegians (usually) behave towards each other.  Usually, when a player is eliminated, especially when it's a kind of no-fault knockout, cold deck or some such, he gets a quiet round of applause from the other players at the table (not the sort, however, designed to make everyone look up and watch you doing the walk of shame).  One such situation just occurred between these two: I think the gent on the left, seat one, is Odd Rune Olner Karlsen, while Seat Two (now OUT) is Marius Frøyen...

So.  The hand.  Threeway to a flop of 9d 8c 7c.  Marius bet out 600, called by Martin Eikeng...back to Karlsen, who check-raised to 2,700 total.  Brief pause... then Marius moves all in (c.6.5k).  There is anything but an instapass from the third player, who only reluctantly gets out of the way and finds Karlsen calling - as one tends to with the nuts:  Th Jh in his case.  He's up against a set, however:  9s 9c in his opponent's hand making him sweat nicely through the 4c and Ad turn and river...

*subdued applause*

As I passed by Mr Burns' Dave Colclough's table once again I was good-naturedly harangued by Stephen Kirk...

"Where are my pictures on blonde?! I've been frantically texting everyone i know letting them of my imminent fame and they've been reduced to tears!!!"

I pled my case, lack of decent photos, Jen has the camera etc, but he was insistent about being put up on blonde so here is the man in all the glory I can muster from the paucity of good photos in my arsenal.

You did ask for it Stephen!

Dave appears to be a little shorter than earlier (chips-wise of course) and he shook his head wistfully with a rueful grin as I caught his eye...not going soooo well for El Blondie right now.

Tarjei Forus (I think) raised to 450 preflop, called in one spot and then repopped to 1,800... he called along with Odd-erlend Jensen - I think cutoff Sondre Sagstuen was the raiser.

Aaaaaanyway... the flop came down Qc 4h Th and when it came to Jensen he made it 2,500 (leaving himself just 3,775 behind).  Over to Forus, who noticed this, and helpfully raised just the right amount to put his opponent all in.  Sagstuen had lost interest by this point, and it was back to a rather peeved looking Jensen who clearly wasn't too happy about this outcome, and eventually declined to put his tournament life on the line.

Pictured:  phenomenally haired Tarjei Forus, stacking in happiness.

I'm sort of over it Gary. I mean yes sometimes I wake up late at night in a pool of my own sweat screaming "NOOOOOOO" in a high pitched falsetto at the top of my lungs, but that's only to be expected.

Hope you are keeping well sir! If you can find any polar bear pics that would be cool.

Frode 'Fropsy' 'Lovely Bloke' Fagerli - instrumental player in getting the Norwegian Championships organised and all round good guy:

Can you ask Pete Linton what the chances of him tilt-shoving every hand if he finds out Ian Frazier has busted and is in the Omaha game?

Yes.  He is actually taking it seriously.  Something about a "sick cash record in tournaments with over £500 buy-in."  He hadn't even noticed Ian's presence...  This is not to say that he won't tilt-shove every hand for some other reason, eventually.

Good luck to all the blondes playing today (and to Frode Fagerli who is a lovely bloke).

Frode 'Fropsy' 'Lovely Bloke' Fagerli - instrumental player in getting the Norwegian Championships organised and all round good guy:

Ah yes - this is the guy I was playing with on Sunday who said he preferred not to look at his cards beforehand as it spoiled the surprise later. He then pushed all in with pocket queens  ::)  These scandies are so lucky....

Blonde player lady is Vivi Saethren - she's a nice person - met her at the Swedish Norwegian Championships (if that makes sense) and she popped up at the World Series last year... will probably even smile if she knows she's having her picture taken.  I would say we should support her because she's blonde, but so is 80% of the field.

I tell you what, if she manages to win something half decent the sponsors will be fighting over her.............

But before you get excited...this doesn't end in a player-busting, stack-building showdown.  Just so you don't get your hopes up.  It's just that I saw a pot with over 18,000 in the middle, which had been grown between Sindre Joramo and Rune Larsen (in the white hat).

The board was lying there:  Ac 3s 3d 5h Jd, and I wish I knew how all those chips had gotten there.  The moment of tension which drew me to the table was, however, Joramo moving all in for around 10k and putting his opponent to a decision for the rest of his stack.  The pot was spread, his head was in his hands, and it was with that sour "I really wish I wasn't doing this" expression that Larsen gave this big pot up to his opponent.

Here's John Hammond, one of the players about to take their turn on the buffet (staggered dinner break is as good as no dinner break, in our opinion).  He asked how Snoopy was doing, and was surprised to learn that he wasn't actually here, but around 5000 miles away in Canada currently...

We know the score.  "Great Updates Snoops."

Quote of the day: "That's the way a Norwegian get mad.  When someone steal his beer.  Then I get mad.  Raarrrrrrrgh.  I don't mind the money, one pound two pound five pound.  I mind my beer.  I pissed."  That could be taken in both ways, quite effectively.

This guy has been drinking since the place opened, as have a good number of others.  Actually, probably since he busted last night after playing most of the day and busting on the TV table.  He does like DTD though:  "I love Nothingham!  It's the best poker play I ever seen!"

Even totally hammered, the Norwegian contingent is always laid back.  "Aaaalways be friends!" is his parting shot.

Chip leader watch.

I don't know the gentleman on the left's name, but I would be shocked and suprised if he were not the chip leader with roughly 45k at this stage...

updates on my little kipper fran please! thanks

Fran is making slow progress...

She told me she hasn't seen much in the way of cards and when she limped aces in EP, and saw a tasty flop of A-T-T 4 way, she was only able to elicit a little action on the turn and river from it.

"Can't beleive no one had anything!" she said despairingly.

Just below her starting stack atm I believe...

Fran now has 5,175 and an air of slight frustration, although not in any immediate danger.  Pictured watching it all go raise, re-raise crazy down the other end of the table.

A couple of other counts...

Nick Hicks -- 14,500 - "I just doubled up," he said, very forthrightly, "With Kings vs. Aces.  I spiked a King."
Andreas Hoivold -- 11,500
Pete Linton -- 18,700

After the dinner break yesterday the action went in weird little pockets - a round of applause here, a "seat open!" there, and then quiet for 20 mins.  Rod is on the way with some more pics, so I guess I'll try to be in the midlde of the room when they go through an action phase.

Today another packed field has found its way into Nottingham's Dusk Till (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/index.php?affiliate=blonde) Dawn (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/index.php?affiliate=blonde), basking in the luxuriousness of the club, enjoying copious amounts of alcohol and generally bringing a little bit of laid-back Norway to the North of England.

The Midlands please, in fact Nottingham was known as "The Queen of The Midlands" as opposed to The North where everyone knows it's grim

Anywhere that takes me more than two hours to drive to in a pretty much straight line Up from my house is North.

man if we are going like that dundee is in the south of england for me

Pete Linton:  "I made an ambitious bluff.  And stacked myself."  It turns out that he'd called a preflop raise with Qh Js, seeing a 9h 8h 2c flop.  Raiser Matey bet out, overbetting the pot, and Pete flat called.
Turn:  "A third heart," rank unspecified.  Now Matey bet out much more weakly, and Pete called again.
River:  Ac  Now Matey bet out a third time, bigger again, and Pete decided that now, with Queen high, was the perfect time to raise the guy 20k.

He was called with A-9 and is now on 2,500.

BAD NEWS ALERT...

The British contingent of the tournament has just been depleted somewhat...

First Fran Creed who has had "A terrible day, I've never been this card dead!"

The critical hand had Fran holding A-Q which she raised preflop and received a caller.

"The flop came Aspades 4s 5c...I bet out and he called. Turn was the 6c..." (Unfortunately i can't read my notes here to ascertain the turn action)

"The river came down the 2s...he led out weakly and I shoved allin...he did that thing I hate where he said "I think I'm behind but I call...and showed the surprising A-K! - outkicking Fran and kicking her out at the same time."

She seemed a little dejected poor lamb but she'll be back soon I'm sure.

Next up we have Mr Nick Hicks. After his fortuitous double earlier this hand was a bit of a cracker...

After several limpers on 100/200 he raised it up from the BB with Aheart Qh to 800 and got one caller...

The flop came 8h 8c 9h.

Nick led for half pot and was minimum raised...he thought for a bit then made the call and checked in the dark...

The turn was the Th - (nut flush.....sweeeeet!) and after Nick's dark check, his opponent bet out 8k...Nick with 12k back shoved for his last four and after a while his opponent called with 8s 6d - his trips well behind Nick's flush.

With a 30k pot in the offing, Nick was in great shape to double through. He had some cards to dodge though and unfortunately for him the 8d on the river was the killer card to give his opponent quads and send Nick crashing to the rail.

Nice guy that he is though, Nick was not going to stand around moaning for long and was off to try his luck in the juicy and well-stocked cash games.

Here he is shortly after his departure. Good game Nick...

The amusingly drunk Norwegian Jen was paraphrasing earlier just approached me and Jen as we sat typing up hands...

"Does you like the Norwegians drunks..." he slurred at me. Years of dealing with drunk people have taught me to agree in these spots.

"Haha yes"

"You know history? You know we owned your country longs ago...killing your men and raping your women! ARGGGHHH!!!" - Laughing heartily, at this point he thought it an opportune moment to lean over and introduce himself (again) to Jen. "Hello little girl!" he said in a menacing, ominous manner...

Jen leaned back a little reluctantly as the norwegian version of Oliver Reed breathed his 40% proof breath over her and continued to proposition her, even offering marriage at one point. Ever polite, Jen refused his offer gracefully...

"Very kind of you but no thank you"

Eventually he realised his efforts were falling on stony ground and moved away to the bar to find more beer, but not before he told me it was great that we could sit and chat in the year 2000 without him having to pick his sword up and "f*** off your head! HAHAHAHA!"

Great character, possibly a little more extreme than most of the Norwegians here but good fun nonetheless.

I slightly misreported this hand, but the slight error puts quite a different slant on the hand...

The flop was actually 9h 9c 8h...so in actual fact the 8 on the river was a 4 out beat for Nick. Very sick stuff!

Yep as soon as the break is over I'll try and track you them down! (pssst any hints?)

Pete Linton's shortstack has imploded now so he is no more. Also out is Laurence Gosney... the english players seem to be dropping like flies at the moment. Dave Colclough is also a short stack and may not survive for long.

THANK GOD FOR JULIAN THEWWWWWWW!!!

I have heard my very first "Ship It!" of the week just now, and it came from a slightly unexpected source...

The pictured gent standing up stacking the chips of his now ex-opponent Petter Erik Nyvoll is Allan Dyrstad, who upon seeing that his set of Queens (holding Qh Qd) was good tapped the table with his knuckles repeatedly, stood up, announced, rather than exclaimed, "Ship it." and then turned to his railing mate and had an animated discussion in Norwegian.

Trevor Reardon, although as far as I know having never really gotten going over his starting stack, has nevertheless been quietly getting a pot here and there.  Like this small blind/big blind confrontation I witnessed while passing.  Small blind Bao Lu Hoang was in the process of betting out 400 on a heads up 3h Ts 7c flop.  Call from Reardon.
Turn:  7h  Double check.
River:  Ks  Check to Reardon, who counts out a measured 750, and gets paid, showing only the Tc 7d...

Maz Nawab is OUT - I saw his final hand, which was a bit of an inevitable all-in-at-first opportunity, as was in this case provided by 3d 3s.  His shove for 2,025 preflop was isolated by a re-raise from Victor Forberg-skogeng, which got him in the excellent position of heads up against the all in short stack with 6s 6h.  The board was irrelevant as no three/weird flush/straight saved Nawab, but here it is anyway, as I was standing there and wrote it down:  4d 4h Ts Qs 2h.

Elsewhere short stack Dave Colclough is faring better, having doubled back up to just over his starting stack. That must feel better than half his starting stack, though.

SOME REQUESTS AND OTHER PIECES OF INFORMATION

Right, now George2loose, aka Mr Rupinder Bedi has been much sought after by our readership, or at least a very select portion of our readership anyway. He is on c. 15k at the moment and I snapped him wearing what I regard as a highly impressive t-shirt with pacman motif.

So now George, not only is your picture out there for the world to see, you have won the much coveted award of....

..........................................................................(drum roll)........................................................................
.......(stop yawning it's coming).............................................................(nearly there) .................................... ...............(oh be quiet, you haven't got anything better to do have you!) .................................................................................T SHIRT OF THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Expect the requests for after dinner speeches, supermarket openings etc to come flooding in. CONGRATULATIONS!

I hope you won't find yourself chasing too many ghosts! Good luck sir.

Here is Neil Blatchly, one of the remaining Brits, and he is doing well with 25,000 of DTD's finest chips to his name. Good going sir!

One man with a relatively low profile but what seems to be an excellent game based on his cracking performance in the Irish Open where he came runner up to the man of the moment Neil Channing, is Donal Norton.

The Irish player followed up his success at the Irish Open by taking down one of the side events at the Manchester GUKPT and he is going well today with 32,000 to his name.

Here he is, wearing his traditional hermetically sealed combination of hoody and earphones.

Shortly after the break, Dave was looking a little contemplative with his mere 7k or so...cheer up Dave it might never happen!

And as Jen related it DIDN'T happen and in fact Dave has doubled through to 12k or so...

Here he is as he takes down that pot to double him up.

John Hammond just came into our tent area (just about to make the daily move ringside - hurray!) with one of those grins which say, "Phew!  Close call - I was nearly out, but I doubled up right when I thought my luck had run dry!"

I didn't just infer all of this from his relieved expression - he said that he'd seen a flop for 1k with 9-T, which came T-3-2.  Pretty good for a short stack, he thought, shoving all in for 7.5k over the top of his opponent's 2k bet, only to find he'd been called with the dominating A-T.

Turn: 2
River:  You know it's got to be... 9.

Up to 17k and delighted about it.
_________________________________________________________________

Elsewhere Stein Sjaastad has had less luck, running a set into a flopped straight and moving in on a "nonthreatening" turn, only to find a pair-less river and a seat in the bar.  Better luck next time...

Once again Stephen Kirk popped up on my radar, for good reason, rather than his whinging about not having his photo up this time!

He is one of the chip daddies amongst the English players with a formidable 40k stack. He asked me to refer to him as "Stephen Kirk, 23 years of age, King of the Brits"

So with no more ado, here is Stephen Kirk, 23 years of age, King of the Brits, who looks older than that and is actually 2nd to Ian Frazer in the Brit count today (pssst, I think that makes you queen! - sorry Stephen!)

A Pot So Ridiculous A Rail Of Norwegians Watching it All Go, "Sick!" and Raise Expressive Eyebrows

It's all gone a bit mental over on Table 21 (which has just been broken as it reached what must have been its apex...)

This guy, raking in this huge pot of around 100k I think is Øystein Halland (correct me if I'm wrong please).  What happened, and has been verified by the winner of the pot himself, was this:  a raise and call pre (not sure which way round it was), both players on around 50k.
Flop:  4d 9h Jh  Check-check.
Turn:  Tc  Now Halland bets out 2,500.  The gent pictured below getting, presumably, a low-key Norwegian rubdown after the hand, made it 7k.  Halland moves all-in now, a huge bet of over 40k.  Call.

Halland shows:  Qs Kc for: the Nuts, top straight
Matey shows:  8d 4c for:  Bottom pair, low straight draw, drawing dead.  The 5s river just gave people time to come and gawk, as the new chip leader says tyvm and heads to a new table...

*********************************BREAK**********************************

Story from (but not about) Chris Bruce (who has 30k and is proceeding confidently through the sea of madness this tournament has threatened to become for a long time)...

Last hand before the break, there's a raise to 800, a call, and then the big blind pushes all in for 5k or so.  Original raiser passes, but the second guy dwells and calls with 4d 4c.  All-in Matey shows Jc Jh.

Flop:  J-3-5
Turn:  6
River:  7

Au Revoir, trip Jacks Matey!  "He took it well," allowed Mr. Bruce.

NB Junglecat has another last-hand-pre-break drama to report....any minute now... and his has pictures.

BRITWATCH!

BAD NEWS & GOOD NEWS!

First off we have Richard Berridge. He found himself as a shortstack after an ill timed bluff which was picked off by someon with top pair.  Down to 7k or so, he was in no mood to hang about, twice moving in preflop soon afterwards.

The first time, his shove over the late position raise of Rune Jacobsen to 1200 for 6k more was sucessful and he padded his stack slightly. His next shove however found his opponent holding either 88 or KK, not 100% certain, but whichever, his Kc 6c was no good once the river had been dealt meaning we are one Berridge shaped Brit down...

BUT that brings us onto the GOOD news for the Brits, as Rupinda Bedi was the man who dealt the fatal blow to Richard, meaning our very own pacman-shirted George2loose has bolstered his stack nicely as we head into break 3.

So tears of sadness for some, tears of joy for others, some sort of restraints for Jen please as she has started behaving oddly. I think that proposal from the mad Norwegian drunk guy may have tipped her over the edge. She is moments away from running around with a pretend sword clutched above her head screaming "I f*** your head off!!!"...HELP!!!

I would like to issue a public apology on behalf of blondepoker.

Sometimes, when you get an inexperienced updater handling the sensitive 'requests department,' errors are bound to occur.  Compound this with the fact that the DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/index.php?affiliate=blonde)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/index.php?affiliate=blonde) website actually has Thomas Olavsrud (the hat guy, I reckon) and Neil Blatchley in each other's seats.  Here pictured is the Real Neil, with Olavsrud trying to stop the misnaming madness.  "For the last time, stop taking my photo and calling me Neil!"

John Hammond just met his demise, making a short stacked stand with Jc Qs, but finding Jacob Mandal giving him a spin with Aspades 8d.
Flop:  6s Ad Ts
Turn:  7d
and now the only possible saviour being a King...which the Jh river wasn't.  Down to just 104 players.
______________________________________________

And another cracker from Chris Bruce, whose table clearly deserves a closer eye applied to it.. A short stack moves in under the gun for around 5k, with Kh Jh, called in mid by the Th Qh, at which point another short stack goes for it with 8h 9h.  All on their backs, all stand up, two prepare for potential elimination...

Flop:  8c 9s 5d
Turn:  7c
River:  6s

Wait...it's not a split...no... the T-Q guy stacks the other two and probably laughs about it a little inside.

I think now might be a safe time to say Goooo Jan Sjavik!  From a worrying 12k at last check (admittedly more than three levels ago) to second in chips at the last break.  Here's a picture of one of my favourite players, looking about as threatening as a Jaffa Cake - but don't let his quiet, cheery demeanour fool you - he's tricky, consistent, and definitely got a shot at winning the Norwegian Championships.

Table 33 News - stuff keeps on happening over there, so that's where I've been hovering...

Ole-mats Moskvil (pictured) just doubled his <10k stack to something worth coming back tomorrow with... all in preflop with Ac Kc against Jan Erik Hoff, with Ahrt Qh.
Board:  3h Ts Jc... 2h (just to keep everyone watching).........Qd.  Broadway for the shortstack, short stack for the Hoff.

Also on that table, the biggest small-denomination stacks of the Day, belonging to Jarle Aasen, I believe.  He might only have 12k, but hot damn it looks like loads.

The Norwegians here certainly have shown they share with the English a deep love of alcohol in all its forms. Simon Trumper related to us how amazed he was at some of the orders put through by the players. Last night a couple of the players ordered themselves a BOTTLE of vodka and four cans of red bull to plough through.

"I just saw something to top that a moment ago though" he told us excitedly. "One of the players at the bar ordered a glass with SIX shots of Jack Daniels in it! I asked the barman...what's he having with that. "Two cubes of ice!" was his response. Unbeleivable!"

As we speak, DTD is abuzz with the sounds of chips riffling, drunken Norwegians high fiving each other, laughter, chatter and shouting emanating from its every pore. It really is a fantastic atmosphere...If you get the opportunity to pay a visit to Dusk to Dawn during the next few days I would definitely take it as it an experience not to be missed!

As the final level of Day 1B draws to a close, it may well be time for....

...Name That Stuff!

So...crumbly-ish...wet...brown...leaves a weird residue that soaks through paper... comes in little block about the size of a glacier mint...  ?

Svein Roger Simonsen is a casualty of war, his shortstacked push with Qc 4c running into the rather more impressive Aspades Ahrt of his neighbour, Jacob Mandal.

A board that was of no use to Svein transpired, meaning he grabbed his coat to team up with the ever more rowdy group of Norwegian brothers at the bar, whilst Jacob increases his stack nicely.

Here is Jacob following that coup...

Here's Rupinder Bedi once again, after what looks like a bit of a downswing in chips, however, after his promising accumulation during the midlde stages of the day.  Down to what looks like around 25k, although my eyesight is going a bit weird so might not have my usual eagle-like accuracy.

Nice to see a one-slime volleyball t-shirt imo.

The clock has gone red, which means there are only five minutes of play remaining.  Having a quick scout round, it looks like there are a few hefty stacks, but we'll need chip count confirmation to be sure of whether or not anyone has topped Julian Thew's tasty 120k-or-so...  Today's start day did have a few more runners - 167, I reckon, to yesterday's 149.  Still, got to hand it to these players for getting down under 80 in just nine short hours.

Well, we're headed for Day Two now, after a pretty frenetic couple of days.  It has to be mentioned that everyone at DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/index.php?affiliate=blonde)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/index.php?affiliate=blonde) has made our lives as easy as can be, with great access, good internet connection, nice cake and excellent chip counts.  And thanks to Simon Trumper for keeping us informed of the extraordinary behaviours being exhibited at the bar.  Speaking of which...until 3pm tomorrow...

;stickaforkinme;

PS Thank you Lurendreiern for interacting with us!! Yay!! I tasted a bit of the stuff, it was weird.  Are you meant to eat it afterwards?

No problem... ;) But whatever you do, don't eat it afterwards...

Thanks for great updates!

We have finished Level 9 with 79 players remaining today which means our work is effectively done.

They are counting and bagging the players' chips as we speak and before too long we will have the final chip counts for the day which we will post on receipt.

Before we leave you though, there is just time for a late, AND DEFINITIVE, entry for hoody of the day.

Like many of the norwegians drinking vodka and red bull, this guy's hoody has wings! Oh yes! Awesome stuff.

That's about it for now guys. Once again we have had a brilliant time with the entertaining Norwegians, who have been the life and soul yet again.

Tomorrow will bring us that extra step closer to seeing who will emerge as the poker champion of Norway so join us then for the 3pm start, but for now...
