Before I hit the sack, may I make two requests:

(1) Earlier today, it emerged that Martin Green was threatening to quit tournament poker if he didn't finish in the top two after a number of 'so near yet so far' performances in major events. Personally, I think this is a crying shame. Martin comes across as a very amicable guy and is a highly talented player, so his absence would prove a real loss to the poker world. In this sense, I have decided to start a 'Save The Green' campaign in order to keep him on the circuit. Hopefully my campaign will help change his mind if he doesn't make those top positions and convince him to carry on playing. If, like me, you are interested in saving the Green, then I urge you to use this thread as a petition. Even just repeating the words 'Save the Green' could really make a big difference. No contribution is too small.

(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=19946&g2_serialNumber=1)

(2) Secondly, please could you honour us with your top three predictions for the tournament. Obviously, I'm putting Martin Green in the top two and will be hoping he gets that major score he has been longing for.

1st = Martin Green
2nd = Martin Jarvis
3rd = Sam Trickett

1) Sam Trickett by far the favourite I would say. Smart aggressive player with loads of chips - easy pick for number one imo.

2) Martin Green. Another quality player. Not many chips but he can use them well.

3) Iwan Jones. No chips, but the big welshman can play. He'll need to run good to get a stack but if he does could be hard to stop.

I'd love to see Stu Rutter do well though as he's a likeable, genuine guy and has had foul luck in tournaments for a while. Needs more chips though...

PS Save the Green

As I got knocked out day 1 I went to say goodbye to rutter before he told me he was making a comeback from 1,900 chips. I am kinda impressed that he has gotten this far and fwiw, luton has been his best casino results wise. This is his 6th tourney at luton now and is amazingly his 5th cash here.

1st. Sam Trickett.

2nd. Stu Rutter

Are my 3 picks, its hard not to have Sam as number 1 with those chips.  He seems to run good as well.

And straight off the bar, Peter Arrigoni has doubled up his shortstack after moving in on Sam Trickett with Kd Kh. Sam took a shot with Jh Th.

Board = 7s Qc Qs 3c 8h

Meanwhile, Rob Sherwood has agreed to be part of the 'Save the Green' petition. "Don't call me a railer though," pleaded Rob. "I only came for brekkie, there's no where else to go."

On a sidenote, Rob Sherwood reckons James Mitchell is a dark horse. "He's got no track record, but I played with him on day one and he's a good player."

Wayne Mardle limps in the small blind and current short-stacker Stuart Rutter announces '60,000' from the big blind. Wayne pauses momentarily before confessing, "I'm not going to waste everyone's time' and folding. The Nutter survives.

Cagey.

That's the only way to describe the opening to today's play. Ok, so it's only just started but the players look very focused on buckling down and playing their best poker to get through to the final table and the glory that awaits the champion.

A blind steal from Trickett here, a blind steal from Martin Green there but so far the group looked locked together and the action has yet to erupt into fiery action.

Give it time though and we should see the fireworks go off...

Good news for all Brummie Bandit fans out there - Stuart Rutter has doubled up. Pushing all in from the cut-off for 125,000 with Ad Ks, Stuart Rutter was given a surprise spin by David La Ronde in the small blind who had Kh Td. Clearly pumped up and dying to make this final table, he firmly planted his hand onto the felt and rose excitedly from his seat. Refusing to celebrate until the whole board was dealt out, Stuart hit top pair on the 7c Aspades 6c flop, but began shaking his head in anticipation of a nasty outdraw as the turn came the 8d. With no backdoor straight arriving on the 2c river, Stuart punched the air before him and returned to his seat in confident mood. With these new found chips, Stuart Rutter could emerge as a real dangerman in this main event.

A moment of excitement just broke out as Andreas Mihail moved ALL-IN over the top of Peter Arrigone's opening raise.

"I'd like my Kings back!" said Arrigone, perhaps not realising that such a request is not in the rules.

"I know you've got a pair...do I fancy a race..."

Ultimately he decided he didn't want to race and laid them down allowing the shiny paletted Andreas to merrily sweep up the chips.

Peter Arrigone - Refused to embrace the race...

More Rutter excitement!

Paul Rigg shoved on the button and Stu looked down at his big blind to find...KINGS!

He made the brave call and Rigg was forced to table his inferior stealing hand Qh 6h.

Looking good for Stu but the flop was bad news as it popped out Q-8-6 and suddenly Rigg was back in th game.

Stu's face dropped as he watched the blank 5 on the turn and it looked like he was about to be dealt a painful setback when a beautiful 8 rolled off on the river to counterfeit Rigg's 2 pair and give Stu a superior 2 pair.

Stu fistpumped as that crucial card dropped and Paul Rigg walked over to shake his hand gallantly, but is eliminated in 12th spot, leaving 11 players battling on and Stu starting to look in great shape.

"What are you going to spend the 100 grand on?" Iwan Jones asked The Nutter in the face of his ever increasing chip stack.

Martin raises it up in early position to 36k and Trickett re-raises on the button, only for Martin to shove for 300k ish and Sam to call his all-in.

Martin showed down K-K, Trickett A-Q.

Sam needing help but none came as a board of baby cards transpired and once he'd paid off Martin's double up, he was down to 450k or so and Jarvis up to 600k.

Bad start for Trickett then, who will have to use all his skills to arrest his slide, now he has lost his dominant chip position...

The Save the Green campaign continues in good stead, but sadly at the expense of fellow blondeite 'pelham boy' Martin Jarvis. After a spot of preflop action (I imagine Green raised from the button and Jarvis called in the small blind), Jarvis led out for 45,000 on an Ahrt Qs 9d flop and Green pushed all in. Not feeling particularly comfortable but assessing that he simply couldn't fold such a strong hand, Jarvis made the call with Aspades Jh only to be shown a domineering Ac Kd. No help arrived for Jarvis on the 3d turn and 5d river and Green wins a rare Martin squared encounter.

Braced for a long drive back to Wales, Iwan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=180) Jones (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=180) has become our latest victim after pushing rags from the small blind. With Wayne Mardle finding 7h 7s in the big, the Welshman was forced to show a paltry 9c 2s which failed to improve on the Ad Jd 5c Ahrt 6c board. Bullseye for Mardle who now looks odds on favourtie to reach that final table.

And just like that we have out final table!

We joined the action on the turn of a 7-2-T-Q board, with Paul Noury betting out 45k and David La Ronde setting him all-in for his remaining stack as he is prone to do sometimes.

Some verbal sparring occurred as Paul deliberated his decision.

"Do you want a call?" Paul asked La Ronde.

"Just fold. You want to fold, just fold." At this point I was pretty convinced La Ronde had a decent hand, but Paul felt differently and made the call with Q-8, only for La Ronde throw his cards over triumphantly, showing down pocket deuces for a set.

Noury was drawing dead, meaning the river 6 was irrelevant and he was sent to the rail at the hands of La Ronde, who is now boasting a very impressive stack.

Here he is, boasting to the rail about how he got his set paid off!

(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=19980&g2_serialNumber=1)

There is a short break for the players to grab some refreshments before we return to the final table

The Save the Green campaign continues in good stead, but sadly at the expense of fellow blondeite 'pelham boy' Martin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) Jarvis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224).

How does it get to a flop?

How does Green always have AK!!

GL THE MACHINE!

The players have been greeted and successfully seated, although I am deeply saddened that the tournament director didn't say "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin nine" or "aaaaaaaand Bully's special prize" for Wayne Mardle when he announced the final table line up.

Meanwhile, our Save The Green campaign is clearly making an impact as Martin Green sways somewhat: "I think I may stay on if I make a four way chop now."

Power to the people!

On the very first hand of the final, Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421) Rutter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421) raises it up preflop to 36,000. The action passes around to Andreas Mihal in the small blind who mumbles something under his breath before pushing all in for around 285,000. Stuart passes and is shown Ahrt Kh.

On the third hand, Andreas Mihail limps from the cut off and Martin Jarvis checks the big blind. On a 9c Ts Td flop, Martin checks, Andreas bets the pot and Martin folds.

Andreas Mihail is out and becomes the 9th place finisher winning £8,450

James Mitchell raises to 30,000 under-the-gun only for Andreas Mihail to make it 90,000 from mid to late position.

James pauses and scratches his head before asking his opponent how much he has behind. "About 280,000" is the answer.

After a further pause, James announces all in and gently pushes his stack across the line.

Andreas removes his glasses inquisitively and gives James a stare that could pierce through titanium.

"Call," he says!

James swiftly tables Ad Aspades, whilst Andreas can only tut dejectedly and flip over Ac Qs.

A flop of 2h 4c Jc is of no use, and by the Jd turn he was drawing dead. The Jh was academic, and Andreas became our first final table exit.

We just had another all-in and the Greenster was involved again.

After David La Ronde limped for 12k, Martin Green raised to 47k, before Peter Arrigone announced ALL-IN for 108k total.

Martin was pretty much obliged to call once David folded and call he did with Ahrt Td, only to find himself dominated by the shortstacked Arrigone's Aspades Ks.

The flop fell 4c 8s 8c 7h Qh for no surprises and Arrigone's big slick had held to double him through to 260k or so...

Just as Rod was reporting his last hand, and I was finishing off the Mihail exit, there was another all-in and a call at the final table involving David La Ronde (early position) and Peter Arrigoni (mid position).

Although his tournament life was on the line against a man who could easily be named the La Rondimator, Peter's Js Jc was in good shape against his foe's Ts Tc. And after the 5h Kd 7s flop, Peter was looking even better, the harmless Qs turn and 3s river sealing the deal and giving Peter a most timely of double ups.

The last four hands have seen Stu Rutter, James Mitchell, Sam Trickett and David La Ronde all raise preflop in succession and pick up the blinds uncontested...

The players are like cobras, circling each other, ready to strike at any moment...

Stu Rutter just lost a reasonable pot seeing a flop with James Mitchell in the blinds and paying off two bets, including 50k on the river of a Tc Qs 6s 3c 5d board.

Mitchell showed Q-7 for top pair which was good for the pot whilst The Nutter took  a hit to his stack as he mucked...

The action folds round to Sam Trickett who makes up the small blind; Wayne Mardle checks the big.

Flop = Th 7h Js

Check, check.

Turn = Tc

Sam leads out for 21,000 and Wayne calls.

River = 6h

Both players check again.

Wayne = Jc 9h
Sam = 5h 4h

Sam takes the pot with the rivered flush.

 I've been thinking about this "Save our Green" campaign and looking at some of the pictures on here and have concluded that Martin may be right. It takes a great poker player to have self-awareness and in some of the pictures he just looks tired and old compared with some of the fresh-faced youths in this final.

 Maybe it is just time to call it a day. We can look back on a career and reflect on what nearly was rather than watch a man literally disintegrate and age before our very eyes. Some of those six-way chops in The Bellagio daily $1000 2pm comps against the true elite of the second division of slightly down-on-their luck Vegas pros and semi-pros. The great times where everyone got slightly more than third prize.

 He's right. These stupid bloody tournaments are a young man's game.

Stu Rutter just raised to 36,000 preflop and he looked like he might pick up the blinds again as it was folded round to Martin Green in the big blind...

...who then picked his stack up and moved ALL-IN!

It was just over 200k to call for Stu who agonzied over the decision before eventually...picking his cards up and flicking them into the muck.

The green machine picking up pace...

Stu was not unperturbed by this though, raising the next hand to 36k, only for David La Ronde to call, but Martin Green was lurking in the wings again and once again he moved all-in!!!

He had timed his increase in aggression superbly as once again both Stuart and David passed to leave Martin adding a welcome 100k boost to his stack with no showdown...

Considering this is such a flash casino, I was rather disappointed by the poor service. True, there aren't too many people here this afternoon, but it took me ages to get served - there wasn't even anyone at the bar to take my order. When the poor girl did arrive, she was out of breath, having to serve several people all at once and traipse over to every corner of the casino. When I ordered my curry, she even had to ring the chef up and confirm that they had rice!

This is a great casino in many ways, but whoever is in charge of employment really needs to add an extra pair of hands so they can improve the standard of service.

I'm not a regular here. Is this a one off?

Wayne Mardle raises it up preflop to 52,000 and David La Ronde makes it 200,000 from the next seat along.

"I think we're racing," says Wayne, but in the end, he decides not to gamble and makes the fold.

After being knocked about a bit Stuart was down to what was something like 140-150k, and when it was folded round to him  on the button, he pushed all-in for hsi stack.

Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) looked at his cards and called quickly with A-K which unsurprisingly was ahead of The Nutter, who had made his move for the blinds with the behind, but live Qc 9c.

Needing a Queen, Nine or a bunch of clubs to survive Stu was unable to find any of these on a 3h 7s 6s 3c Td board, meaning Stu Rutter is OUT, eliminated in 8th spot for £11,300

Good game Stu...and Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) recovers some of the damage done earlier with that pot.

 I'd have to pick Martin I think Steve. He might beat me at poker but at least we'd have some conversation. With the younger mob it's all - "So I flatted, he shoved I insta-called, well with his range I considered the ICM and it was LDO."

 Generally if I'm playing with anyone under 25 I never have a bloody clue what they're on about.

 Nice to hear from you though. Hope to see you around for the WSOPE or the EPT.

I believe the management must have saw your post . . . seconds after you left the bar there were 3 people behind the bar!

Sam Trickett raises it to 40,000 from the button and David La Ronde calls on the big. On the Js 7s 3s flop, Sam takes it down with a bet of 55,000.

Peter Arrigoni limps under the gun and David La Ronde and Martin Green check the small and big blind respectively.

David then bets 40,000 on the 5h 9s 7d and his opponents both pass.

I think this is a pretty strong final.  I'd never played with any of them besides the Greenster before yesterday, but a bunch of them did some pretty smart stuff at various points.  La Ronde is my dark horse choice, he has a pretty unorthodox approach that I liked a lot.

David La Ronde and Peter Arrigoni both limp, James Mitchell folds the small blind and Sam Trickett checks the big.

Flop = 5d Ad 6d

Sam checks, David checks, Peter bets 25,000.

Sam folds, David reraises to 50,000, Peter folds 8c 8h face up.

La Ronde shows Kc Jc

James Mitchelll raises to 40k from the cut-off only to find Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) re-popping him on the button to 110,000...

James thought for a short while before announcing all-in!

Sam stayed in his usual pose, face resting on his closed fist as he shuffled chips again and again, occasionally looking at James to pick up a read. Ultimately though he decided he couldn't call off his stack there and laid down the hand, the curly haired youngster James picking up the pot to propel him nicely into the chip lead.

Snoopy has full table counts just coming up following that blockbuster hand.

Needing a Queen, Nine or a bunch of clubs to survive Stu was unable to find any of these on a 3h 7s 6s 3c Td board, meaning Stu Rutter is OUT, eliminated in 8th spot for £11,300ul mr rutter wp m8.

Good game Stu...and Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) recovers some of the damage done earlier with that pot.

 Wishing you well in your retirement old boy.

nc x

This is surely a misread by the Channster. Take a look at this photo for example. Martin looks full of beans and ready to take on the world. He would strike fear into the very heart of even the most menacing of poker players.

A limp from Wayne Mardle in early position had a snowball effect, causing a limpfest with David La Ronde, Martin Green and Peter Arrigoni all limping in.

Family pot then, but it ended quickly as Arrigoni bet out 30k on the Jd 3s Qc flop from the small blind and met no resistance, taking it down after the limpfest turned into a foldfest...

Peter pauses momentarily before folding, adding "Let's keep it a friendly break" in the process.

James showed 7d 2s.

More Trickett on Mitchell action.

Mitchell raises to 55,000 preflop and Sam makes the call from the cut-off. La Ronde and Green get out of the way from the blinds...

The flop comes Qd 8s 4s.

Check from Mitchell and Sam taps the table announcing a check as well.

The turn is the 8c.

Check from Mitchell and this time Trickett bet out 60k...James called!

The river fell the 8d and Mitchell didn't take long to check, before Sam said in a quiet voice "All-in."

A big bet from Sam and James couldn't find it in himself to call so laid down his hand, allowing Sam to get a bit of revenge for that three bet re-pop preflop earlier...

The battle between these two is getting very exciting!

Wayne Mardle is out and becomes the 7th place finisher winning £14,100

Out of the blue, the tournament director announces an all in between darts supremo Wayne Mardle (cut-off) and David La Ronde (button).

David = Ahrt Qc

Wayne = 8d 8h

Flop = Js Td Aspades

Turn = 2c

River = 5h

As he departed, Wayne wished the table good luck before being wrestled into a headlock by his assassin, David. As always, Wayne took it in good spirits and exited with a smile, which he has wore consistently through these four days whether he has won big pots, or lost mammoth ones. Hopefully Wayne will become a permanent fixture on the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, if not the poker circuit as a whole.

Defending Your Blind...

Two examples just occurred. First Sam Trickett limped on David La Ronde's Big Blind and La Ronde made it 50k more. Sam passed and La Ronde showed him pocket Jacks which left Sam giggling to himself.

Next up La Ronde limped on Martin Green's big blind, but Martin was having none of it and shoved all-in for another 200k or so. La Ronde requested a count, but looked unlikely to call and this proved the case as he also passed to the Big Blind defence...

Peter Arrigoni raises it up to 50,000 preflop and James Mitchell repops to 120,000 from the button. Peter pushes in for a total of 255,000 total. James calls.

James = Ks Qc
Peter = Jc Jh

James rises from his seat in anticipation of the flop. This could be the one that gives him the chip lead...

Flop = 8d 4h 6c

The tensions builds as the onlooking crowd edge closer...

Turn = 7d

"Five," requests James...

River = 4s

Peter receives a crucial double up and is now over the half a million mark.

Yes indeedy, here it is!

Martin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) Jarvis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) raises to 50,000 from middle position, only to find David La Ronde re-raising enough to set Martin in.

David began talking to him and Martin asked him "You've not done the speechplay on me before, why start now?"

"Maybe I'm nervous!" said David looking anything but...

Martin eventually called with Ac Tc but La Ronde flipped over K-K and looked like he was about to take Martin out.

The first 2 cards were an innocuous 6h then 7h but the Ad on the tail end of the flop was the crucial card that Martin needed to stay alive.

 No whooping and hollering at the oudraw though, he took it in his stride as David lifted his hand to his forehead at that stray bullet shooting down his cowboys.

No more cards of note (2s and Qd if you must) meant that Martin had doubled through to over 400,000 and David has a nibble taken out of his big stack.

Run-good-a-ments?

Four consecutive hands involving James Mitchell:

(1) James raises it up preflop and Peter Arrigano calls from the big blind. Peter then check folds to a bet of 60,000 on an Ac 4c Ts flop.

(2) James raises it up to 52,000 from the under-the-gun, only for David La Ronde to make it 104,000. James passes.

(3) The action folds around to Martin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) Jarvis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) who limps in the small blind. James checks his option. Both players check a Th 8d Ahrt flop and Kh, before Martin leads out for 25,000 on the Js river. James makes the call but folds upon being shown Qh 8c.

(4) Peter Arrigano limps preflop, as does Martin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) Jarvis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) on the button. James punishes the limpers with a raise from the small blind of 100,000 and takes the pot uncontested.

On the very next hand, Martin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) Jarvis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) raises it up to 60,000 preflop; David La Ronde calls on the button. Both players check an 8s Kd Kc flop only for David to lead out for 40,000 on the Qs turn. Martin calls. On the 5c river, David bets 120,00 and, after a brief dwell, picks up the pot. David proudly shows 9c 7d and rises from his seat triumphantly in order to release some pent up tension.

Trickett pops it up to 52,000, only to run into another of Martin's re-raises( Re-steals?) as The Green Machine shoved for another 200+K.

Trickett went through the motions before folding, and showing the Ahrt.

Next up we had Peter Arrigoni limping on the button for the 20k BB. He has been prone to do this a lot.

James Mitchell checked in the big blind and the two players saw a flop of 9s Jc 9h.

Check from James, check from Peter...

The turn was the Ad.

Check from James, 50,000 from Peter and now check min-raised another 50k.

Peter sighed and passed and James showed down A-9 for the boat!

"I just can't get my timing right against you" said Arrigoni slightly frustrated.

"What er ya talking about! It's been impeccable! Shove when you 'ave jacks, fold when e's got the noots!" Sam told him with a laugh...

Following that hand the players are now taking a buffet break to stock up on food and plan their strategy as we move ever closer to determining who will take down this leg of the GUKPT tour...

Who's your money on?

After playing with Sam on day 1 he would be my pick, he's very difficult to put on a hand and even won one pot with the worst of it. Faced with a river bet Sam thought for a couple of minutes before calling. "Good call " says his oppo and mucked his hand, Sam tables king high and the look on his oppos face was a real picture realising he'd just mucked the winning hand.

David La Ronde just popped it up to 60k...and Martin Jarvis then announced ALL-IN!

David held his head in his hands...it was about 300k more to call...but after much agonized deliberation he decided to lay it down, giving Martin a nice boost to his stack...

Good work!

Peter Arrigoni is out and becomes the 6th place finisher winning £17,850

Before Rod and I had been given a chance to breathe, we encountered another all-in with Peter Arrigoni requiring aid from the poker gods. With the board reading Qc 9d 7c, he had 9c 8c against the Ad Qs of James Mitchell. The Qd on the turn narrowed Peter's outs, and by the 7h river, he was gone.

Martin Green shoves the button for 250k and every gets out of the way bar Sam Trickett in the big blind.

Sam deliberates for some time, clicking his chips and counting out the call restlessly before eventually quietly announcing fold...

The Green Machine trundles onwards.

Onto the next hand...

That last departure of course means that the Green has climbed another rung of the ladder and is just a a gnat's pube away from fulfilling his dream. Meanwhile, we are just that little bit closer to saving the Green and keeping a slice of Liverpool in poker.

This man's going nowhere, just look at him, he's a fighter! Come on the Green, do it for the children.

The action folds round to Martin Green who pauses, as if contemplating a move, before making up the small blind. Martin Jarvis checks the big.

On the 4c 7d 7d flop, Green tries to bet out 21,000, but is reminded that 24,000 is the minimum and so chucks in the extra 3,000. Either way, it's enough to make Jarvis fold.

James Mitchell raises it up to 60k from the button, Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) calls in the small blind and David La Ronde folds the big.

Both players check down an Aspades Ahrt 3h Qd Jd board before Same leads out for 100,000 on the Jd river.

James makes the call, but mucks upon being shown Kh Ts.

The action has slowed a lilttle from the frantic opening but it is periodically punctuated by Martin Green moving all-in every so often.

In the last six hands, he has moved in three times, each time without being called.

Martin has been able to pick up a lot of chips today without ever being called or having to show his hand through judiciously shoving his stack in every so often.

He has pushed over other people's preflop raises far more often than he has raised himself - an interesting strategy that so far has worked well as it has fired him up the leaderboard and although he has yet to challenge the bigger stacks, he is still in there fighting away.

Can the green machine do it?

And as if like clockwork, Sam Trickett raises on the button to 60k, Martin Green shoves all-in for 270k more and Trickett folds Kh 9h face up.

Rob Sherwood is watching on the rail and ran over enthusiastically after that hand.

"I predicted that one before they dealt the cards! Sam raise, Martin shove!"

To be honest it is becoming a recurring pattern. At some point Sam will have to either change his strategy or find a hand as at the moment, Martin is taking bites out of Sam's stack that will start to hurt eventually...

Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Luton: Final Day - Interactive
Post by: snoopy1239 on August 10, 2008, 09:36:57 PM
I think Martin Green's got to many chips now, because instead of going all in, he was able to make a standard preflop raise of 60,000. Sadly for the Liverpudlian, he was met by a reraise to 150,000 by Sam Trickett in the big blind, which was enough to take the pot uncontested.

Sam raises it up preflop and is called by David Laronde.

The flop comes 8d 7h 3h and Sam leads for 85k, called by La Ronde.

Neither player seemed to like the Qs turn as it went check, check.

The river was the Js and again it went check check, Sam showing down pocket Tens which was sufficient to beat the 8-9 -flopped top pair - of La Ronde...

Shortly afterwards James Mitchell raises it up, only to find Sam Trickett making it 100k more...he passes.

Sam is showing some relentless aggression now as the table has gone shorter handed.

Could it be the Sam show?

Martin Green does his usual trick of shoving from the button BUT this time it is NOT uncontested!

He is called by James Mitchell!!

Looked up at last, Martin does have a genuine hand in Ahrt Tc, but five handed he's been a little unfortunate to run into a bigger one Ac Qs in the hands of James Mitchell.

A board of 7d 7c 6d 8s opens up the possibility he will hit a straight or a ten for the win, or 6 or 8 for the split...

...BUT the river is a blank 4s which is no good, meaning the Green Machine has run out of steam and Martin Green is eliminated in 5th spot, winning £23,500.

A sad moment, meaning the poker world loses Martin Green from its ranks. The Save The Green campaign has tried its best to keep this Liverpudlian Legend in its midst but this looks like the final curtain for the Greenster.

Even as he left, his executioner James Mitchell leaned over and yelled "SAVE THE GREEN!" despite the fact that he was a key man in his exit.

Reconsider Martin, the poker world needs you!

Here is the man himself in happier times - look at his joyful face!

(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=20040&g2_serialNumber=1)

And now his previous happy face is completely different as he joins his pal Rob Sherwood on the rail. Behold the massive difference!

Martin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) Jarvis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) is out and becomes the 4th place finisher winning £30,100

In what was a relative brisk affair, Martin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) Jarvis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1224) raised it up preflop, David La Ronde pushed from the big blind and Martin decided to gamble in an attempt to double up his short-stack.

Martin = Ts 8s
David = Ahrt Ks

There haven't been too many surprises this week, and this hand was no different as the board came a rather clinical, and ultimately uninspiring 5c 9d Ad Ac 7h.

"Ten eight's my favourtie hand, I don't know what went wrong," joked Martin in the aftermath.

Tricket raises the button to 120k...La Ronde calls from the small blind...

THe flop comes Ks Ts 9s.

La Ronde bets out 100,000 and Trickett raises to 250,000. La Ronde immediately pushes all-in and Sam exhales sharply, none too happy about this.

Eventually he folds and La Ronde shows K-8 for top pair.

"Did you have two pair?" he asks Sam and Sam begins to laugh. "No!" he tells him...

James Mitchell raises it up preflop from the button and Sam Trickett makes the call in the small blind. David La Ronde folds the big blind.

Flop = 6d 3s Jh

Sam checks, James continue bets 100,000, Sam makes it 230,000 in total and James folds.

James Mitchell is out and becomes the 3rd place finisher winning £60,000

After a poor start to the 3-handed encounter, James Mitchell finds himself down to around the 700,000 mark.

From the button, Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) makes it 80,000, only for James to push all in from the big blind.

As Sam requests a count, the crowd swamp the table in anticipation of witnessing the biggest pot of the tournament thus far.

(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=20048&g2_serialNumber=1)

After being told it will cost him 614,000 more, Sam agonises in his decision as he rises from his seat, shakes his head and exhales deeply.

(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=20050&g2_serialNumber=1)

Whilst James sits stoically, almost motionless in his seat, Sam returns to his, glances momentarily at his foe and places his head in his hands.

(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=20052&g2_serialNumber=1)

As members of the rail attempt to predict the hands, mostly wrongly so, Sam continues to mull over his decision. After one final look over at James, who still remains cucumber cool under the spotlight, Sam slides in four columns of chips and announces, "Let's try and win it."

"What a call!" commends a member of the rail as James flips 7h 3d, and Sam 6c 6s.

The flop is a safe one for Sam...

8s 5c Qs

but the turn gives James extra outs...

3c

But the river is a blank...

2d

... and Sam takes the pot.

I was just chatting with a player and he said, "This could go on a while, they're quite deep. I can see it going a few hours"

My response was that La Ronde is an aggressive player and it might be shorter than you think.

Call me Mystic Meg.

In the first hand back from the break, we get action...

Sam made a standard raise on the button, only for La Ronde to re-raise to 260k...

Sam now pushed all-in for 2 million and La Ronde... CALLED!!!!

Hands on their backs.

Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429): Ad Qc
David La Ronde: Ac 7c

So Sam looking in great shape to take this down as the the dealer dealt the flop. Still a little tense though - for both players...

(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=20062&g2_serialNumber=1)

The flop came Ahrt 9h Qs ! - A superb flop for Sam giving him top two and leaving La Ronde drawing at runner runner...

TURN: 2c ! - no more outs for La Ronde meaning the river was irrelevant. Sam punches the air as it sinks in!

David La Ronde is OUT, eliminated in 2nd place, winning £60,000

whilst

Sam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) Trickett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1429) is the CHAMPION of the Luton GUKPT, winning £95,000 plus the shiny trophy plus the sparkling watch plus the seat into the Champion of Champions Event plus the seat into the Main Event final.

Well played Sam, a superb result for a talented aggressive player and a glittering future in poker beckons for this young star.

Snoopy is getting some final photos of the action which will be up shortly but for now, congratulations again to Sam.

Very sensible, level headed interview, I think I would have been unbearable is I had a win like that when I was 22.

Posting the link has probably put AWOPs video views into double figures  :D
