Ms Jowell wants and immediate end to firms offering enticements such as entry into tournaments or the value of prizes on offer

Could anyone explain what this means please?

Byron,

This has been a problem for a while but it now seems to have become serious.

Online sites cannot advertise buy ins or value of tournaments. This has always been the law but ads like this have been ignored for a long time. They are now cracking down. If you look through poker mags you will see the sites that have been acting within the laws and the ones that havent.

It comes under some obscure 'enticement' law which in effect also has repercussions in betting shops with regard to board displays and window signs.
