This years World Heads Up Scheduled for 20th-25th Oct will go ahead but... unfortunately, looks unlikely to be televised. Despite our best efforts , we have guaranteed broadcasts in Spain, Germany and the UK on SKY Sports but still cannot get a sponsor for the event. All this despite having contacted over 40 potential sponsors, cut production costs to a minimum, signed a new production unit and guaranteed distribution...we can do no more. A sad state of affairs really considering how popular the event is, but It looks like tighter budgets in the marketing depts of the poker sites are starting to take their toll and This years World Heads Up is the first casualty. :(

Jeff 'Jaffacake' Kimbler technically won last year, Dan came 2nd...but they may have done a deal to split the money beforehand I'm not sure, sssshhhhhhhh

As you well no the money wasn't split, it was adjusted so the diff between first and second wasn't so big and we played for the rest. Not sure why u feel the need to publicise that (wrongly) on a forum.

The money was adjusted but.. Jeff was the "best player on the day" that`s all there is to it.

Lol, when I left Plymouth after the Gukpt last year I was grabbed by the night clerk at the hotel as John had done a runner owing the hotel just over a grand, he reserved with a card no longer in use and said he would pay in cash then run up room service. The night manager got me as he had seen us chatting.

Guys, Jeff wooped me. I still wanted to win regardless of any deal sheesh.

Wow, sorry man can see how you took my post the wrong way, I really didn't mean it like that though.

Thought it was a long enough time since the heads-up for it not to matter about deals. We were all good friends that week certainly no harm in making the gap less and that obviously doesn't discredit your win whatsoever.

You won fair and square obviously. Guess I was just trying to make Dan sound better than he actually is!

johnny texas sponsored it for one yr, the one actionjack made the final I think, 888 last yr...shame noone will do it this, maybe someone will come in late, i think that happened before. lol at the plymouth story mike.

LOL at texas johnny, one night while at a £300 comp at blackpool i had been busted and was looking for rutter to go out for a few beers. I found him at the bar with a load of people watching jonnhy texas's recent final table in a matchroom comp. I looked round and johnny was there watching it, answering a vast erray of questions like "how can you pass that" or "was there any business" he went on to finish 2nd to Pippa (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=352) Flanders (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=352) i believe for around $200k. He then turned round and asked if i was playing all week, i replied yes. he then asked if i could sub him a bit till tommorow, i was like GTFO sorry mate done the lot on cash.

it was the perfect prop for the nip.

Someone may come in late to sponsor it but....we have TV deadlines aproaching and need to secure spots on SKY, Antenna (Spain) and Das Vierte ( Germany) All guaranteed to broadcast the event.. IF we can get a sponsor.

TV poker isn`t cheap tp produce ask blue Sq and Gala, hence the cancelled filming of their tours. We have cut things as low as possible given the guaranteed broadcasts in at least three countries but still need around 120-130K for SKY etc. Some  shows cost in excess of 150k per episode and we are making three 90 min shows so not a bad deal

Its a shame PartyPoker didnt fancy it, they have pretty much sponsored every other event on TV.

Mind you, they dont have heads up cash tables, so they would be a bit daft sponsoring this I guess.

Why doesnt Jon Shoreman fancy sponsoring it if its  a good deal?

It seems every year they struggle to get a sponsor and like it has been said many times by many people if it was such a good deal Jon (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=221) Shoreman (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=221) would have sponsored it himself. Its not for me or you for that matter to comment on the Jonny Texas sponsorship deal  but theres 2 sides to every coinflip and you or I are not in a position to comment on what was or wasnt promised by either side as we are unaware of all the facts so lets move on I agree.
Regarding Jon I havent seen or spoken to him for a while as Im out of the country at the moment but Ill pass on your regards when I see him next and let him know you were asking about him on a forum.

I reckon me and Dan Carter will fly over to play this if it's going to be televised. If not, probably won't bother though.

Will try and play the Ladbrokes qualifier if I'm around though.

I think the Olympics is a good deal .... but I don't sponsor that.
I think the Premership is a good deal .... but I don't sponsor that.

I did in fact sponsor one of the events myself, the very first (and only televised) Headsup Poker Circuit event.

We have run the WHPC for 7 years now, this will be the 8th. These types of events cost a lot to run and film. Each year the sponsorship money received has never covered the out going costs and I have personally lost money each year, some years more than others.

If I had the marketing capital to sponsor the WHPC for the next ten years, I would.
