Well, officially we're kicking off in about 15 minutes, but I can only see about six players hovering in DTD, one dealer who admits she's bored currently, Chris Bruce ordering breakfast and one sleepy-looking beagle, who is still disgruntled from the singing wake-up call which Chris gave him this morning.

Early double up for short stack Jonathan Spinks, getting it in with Ks 7s and getting a spin from Shahnawaz Randera with Td 8d in the big blind. A blank board later and he's now up to 25k.

And the rich get richer!

Adam Wilkinson raises either the first or second hand of the day to 3k, called in position by chip leader Paul Gourlay.
The flop comes: Ts 5c Ahrt  "Four and a half," bets Adam, adding, "To make you laugh." 
"To make me laugh?" responds Paul, before raising to 14k.  In a split second Adam has moved in and Paul has called:

Was tempted but think the numbers will be a bit low tonight. Plus its bank holiday weekend which means that i should spend my time equally between drinking and pokering. Glad its time not money or i would need to drink 250 pints of guinness.

Double up now for Nick Hicks, a late position limper and Billy Ngo made up in the small blind. Nick made a raise and the limper folded but Billy must have thought Nick was 'at it' because he moved in and Nick instantly called with Kd Kc with Billy only able to show Aspades 7s. The board came out a decisive Kh Jd Td Jh 9s, Nick gets a full double up whilst Billy is crippled.

Whilst that all was happening, Rick Trigg has been knocked by Tom Rutter. They'd seen a limped pot in the small and big blind respectively where the flop came Q-J-7, Rick lead out for 2k, Tom raised to 6k, the limper folded and after some consideration Rick jammed for about 25k. Tom called with J-7 and Rick could only show Q-T. The turn brought an extra few outs with an ace but Rick failed to get there on the river. He's still pretty sure it was the right move as Tom could easily be raising with a worse queen or a draw in that position vs Trigg's lairy rep.

Daniel 'UpTheMariners' Rudd has also been knocked out though we missed it in all the frenetic actively.

One-Two Big Slick Knockout!  Irina Liepina hits the rail...

One of the short stacks, she took shots in the way anyone would, finding an Ace in the small blind first off when it passed to her, and putting big blind, even shorter-stacked Richard Hawes all-in.  He said, "Let's have a look," peeled up an Ac and said, just as reasonably, "I call based on one card."  The other happened to be the Kc, which dominated her 8c.
His advantage was further pressed as he turned the nut flush on a board ending up 9c Qc Kd 7c 6s, and she was down to under 10k.

The very next hand, it folded to her on the button, and she moved her 8,600 all in.  Small blind Hawes again reached for chips and made the call, but newly-table-moved Scott Byron in the big blind checked out his stack and moved in over the top, prompting a quick fold.  Yet again, it was a domination situation:

Chris Bruce is the latest to go, having previously been crippled, he moved in for his last 700 chips. Richard Berridge re-raised behind before Fran Creed moved half her stack in. Berridge then set her in and Fran instantly called as well.

A Qh 3d 2c 5s 6h board helped no-one and this day is going faster than Usain Bolt at the moment.

Well Rick felt that Tom raises most queens against him here which he's beating, and also may well raise K-T or T-9 here also given Rick's rep of just taking stabs at pots. Also, Rick jamming could well look like the straight draw also and Tom might not pass a smaller queen to the push. Tom might well post his own thoughts on this as well.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce our new chip leader:  Nik Hicks!  Quietly heading upwards in chips, it looked like Erdinc Inan was as surprised as he was to be handing over 60k to the tricksy Hicks as his Ac Ahrt scooped a huge pot.  On a board reading Aspades Qh Tc 4c, shortstack Ngo was all-in, Hicks had gone for it as well, and Inan, who covered them both (but only just) was along for the ride.  So who had what?

Nik Hicks: Aces.  I already said that.

Billy Ngo: 6c 3c

"Club one time!" failed to produce the goods, and over 150k wings its way to the behatted player.  As his stack was counted down he commented, "That's quite a lot."  Understatement award of the day is his, no doubt.  Paul Gourlay was standing over the table as all this took place, wondering if he'd been knocked from the chip leader spot.  I hated to break it to him, but...

very interesting spot for trigg, but he is right..I certainly could be reraising with a draw or raggy queen, just because I give him little credit as his range in this spot is huge. Kind of a strange cooler, but still a cooler..the hand plays itself I think. UL trigg

Neil Blatchley suffered a bit of a hit early on a 9-8-5-T-4 board paying off Richard Berridge who had flopped the nut straight with 7-6, Blatchley saying the ten was such a bad card for him as it made him two pair.

Nicolas Risdale has gone out in 23rd place, he raised, Steve Jelinek re-raised from the blinds and Risdale shoved with Jh Js, Steve snap-calling quicker than Michael Johnson in his prime with Ahrt Ad. A board devoid of Jacks or Aces sent Risdale to the rail.

Whatever - I think seeing as there won't be an official count until the buffet break at the end of this level (600/1,200) I might have a go at full counts.  I just hope they pause from the eliminating for a minute or two...

Tom Rutter slows Sadler's run down, like so...

John Sadler raises under the gun to 5,200.  It folds to big blind Tom who makes the call.
Flop:  3d 7d 9h.  Check to Sadler who bets 10k.  Slowly and deliberately Tom calls once again.
Turn:  Ahrt.  Check to Sadler, who quickly checks behind.
River:  Th  Now Tom bets out just the one 5k chip.  Possibly smelling a rat but unable to restrain the call, Sadler throws in the 5k, only to be told that after the flop the deck "killed the action I think, there," for Tom Rutter's Ks Kc.  John Sadler shows (and mucks) Qd Qc.

I think Tom rues not check/raising that flop, he could well have got it all on the flop, and if the ace didn't come on the turn, he'd have got it all anyway.

Meanwhile, Andrew 'Woodsey' Woods is out in 19th, he moved in on the turn of a Q-8-7-6 board with 5-5 but John Sadler made the call with 9-9 which holds on the Q river.

SO we're down to just two tables.  A 20 minute break has just begun (I can't describe to you how disappointed we are that the buffet is in an hour's time.  So disappointed we've ordered chilli beef in protest).  And here they are:

Straight off the bat we lose Shahnawaz Randera in 18th place...  He raised to 4,500 preflop, and it passed to Tom Rutter in the big blind, who made it another 8k.  Within a couple of seconds Randera had pushed and Tom instacalled, as you do with Ahrt Ac.  Randera held Aspades Jd, and it was pretty much all over after the flop of Jh 2c Ad with the following 6h Qs doing nothing.  Tom was giving himself the traditional poker-player's hard time in the break for not getting a lot more out of his Kings vs. Queens scenario just now, but will probably be in a better mood now.

Tom Rutter in the big blind, asks for a count and Hawes has about 30k behind, the former takes out a big stack of purples and sets them down on the table and Hawes moves his stack in faster than Jen chasing a newspaper when she finds the crossword hasn't been done yet.

Down one more - It was permashortstack Thomas Besnier who made a reasonable squeeze of three limpers preflop from the big blind for c.15k.  But limper #2, Przemek Rusin, made the call with Ad Tc and found Besnier with the admittedly live Qs 8c.  The board paired nothing but the Ten, however, and we're down to 15 players already.

For starters, he made it 5,500 only to find Tom Rutter re-raising to 15,500 on the button.  Some slow and highly focused self-counting later, he passed that one, and gave it another go the next hand.  This time small blind Paul Murphy called the 5,500, and they saw a flop of Tc Th 5s.  Murphy checked, and Hawes bet 9k.  Back to Murphy, who announced all-in, and received a call.  It was close - Hawes showed 6d 6h against Murphy's 7h 7s.

Meanwhile Paul Gourlay took a few from Mick McCloskey, and then gave them back to Andrew Tuxworth.  At least he knew when his Qs Qh had been outflopped by Tuxworth's Ac Kd (the board had come 5s 4d Kh 6h before he could bring himself to fold, which he did, face up, in disgust).  Rather than take this excellent chance to push Paul into the Tilt Well, Andrew Tuxworth showed him, entirely voluntarily, the AK, which seems a waste of a perfectly annoying situation to me ;)

Double up for Richard Hawes, he was all-in with Ac 9s against Tom RUtter's Ad Jh in the most topsy-turvy of hands.

Scott Yeates is OUT in 15th spot after two nasty ones...

First off he managed to double up a stubborn Ks Qs who wouldn't pass to a preflop re-raise which Yeates made with Qd Qc (the King made an appearance to knock the American very short).  He got a couple of all in moves through, before giving it another go after Andrew Tuxworth limped preflop.  It was neighbour Paul Gourlay, however, who gave him the spin with Aspades 2s, well behind Yeates' Ac Jc.

Turn and river: 6d 5s  But I don't think Scott Yeates really saw these as he was wordlessly getting up, making his way to the cashier and what looked a lot like buying straight in to the £300!  Scott:  I salute both your calm temperament and your degenerate streak.  PS. After re-raises had got rid of Snoopy on the button (he was kindly shown Queens by the small blind) and Nik Hicks on the other table (Hawes the bb pusher showed him absolutely nothing), a re-raise from Richard Berridge caused a big pot which he lost to Paul Gourlay.  Gourlay had made it 7,300 under the gun, and when it came to Richard, he just made the all-in sign, called immediately, this time.

Former chip leader John Sadler has gradually lost his chips. His hands have seemingly dried up and at the moment he's in the process of calling a lot of raises before check/folding most flops. This has seen his stack, having hit the peak of almost 150k, now in a major trough, stuck with just about 50k left now and in serious danger of not making the money.

Turn: 3c  Check once again to Tom, who bet 14k now.  A much quicker call from Rusin.
River: 6c  Check a third time.  Now Tom unflinchingly bet 24k, Rusin passed, and Rutter Jr. showed him 8s Ts...

Big pots have threatened, but not actually reached the on-their-backs stage recently.  Andrew Tuxworth has been using his big stack to make hard-to-call bets, like the 25k he bet out into an already sizeable pot at opponent Darren Chadwick on a Qs 5h 8c flop.  A long and pretty tortured decision affected Darren at this point, but he passed, reducing his stack in the process.

Then Tuxworth, having called Mick McCloskey's big blind preflop reraise, bet 30k when Mick checked a 4h Kd 5h flop.  Again, the dwell, and again, the think better of it pass.  Is this unconventional player going to take down the inaugural Deepstack event?  Going to have to wait and see.  As Snoopy said, there hasn't been much to watch lately apart from players' bet sizes.

Scott Byron has obviously lost a huge pot to Andrew Tuxworth, as he's now down to just about 21k or so and having to survive the all-in shove and hope no-one calls. Meanwhile Tom Rutter is admitting that seat 1 (John Sadler) is tilting him due to the latter's ability to "medium connect with the flop and overshove into the pot."

"I just really want to get top pair and snap him off," admitted Tom.

Pete Linton, playing the £300, offered his opinion. "John is a Gala player, so he's used to bad structures and not this amount of chips and probably isn't experienced at playing deep-stacked poker."

He then moved all in preflop, and it looked a lot like John Sadler was going to give him a spin - the chips were counted out in neat stacks, to the hundred...but he folded. 

Not content, soon after this Sadler called Richard Hawes'  preflop raise to 8k in the blind, and they checked all the way down a board of 6c 8d Ks 6s Jd.  Sadler then put in a minbet (3k) on the river, and with a shrug Richard paid off his Jh 6h.  They are both in the unenviable position of having shorter stacks than would be ideal now.

Dunno what to say about that!

Mick McCloskey is out on the bubble of the bubble of the bubble. Having been re-raised constantly by Andrew Tuxworth, including a hand just previously, where McCloskey asked the dealer if he could move in position against the chip leader. McCloskey raised the button with Jacks and Tuxworth repopped him with Ace King. It predictably all went in, but fortune favoured the chip leader whose stack alone seems to dominate the table.

Snoopy even said, "He's completely tying the table in knots."

Przemek Rusin wasn't having a great level - and perhaps showing him that bluff earlier encouraged this situation which just near-felted Tom Rutter.  The two of them saw a flop of Ts 3h 4s.  Rusin bet 20k, and Rutter, having, in his own words, "bided his time..." moved his whole stack over the line.  Call!

Hand for hand then... and it's predictably slow although quite gratifyingly tense, for those of us who aren't Andrew Tuxworth with his mountain of chips.  Paul Gourlay just handed him another 60k after he saw a Q-T-x flop holding Q-K...while Tuxworth found Q-T.  There's not a player on Table Leader who isn't finding him a massive headache in a threatens-whole-stack sort of way.  Snoops has an awkward stack, which he said he's probably got to commit to stop the Leader calling pre, and betting him off post...

While Andrew takes down pot after pot, and the wrinkles of concern spread across the brows of the other players, Pete Linton comes to rail.  Tuxworth spots him, points, and says, "That's the man I learned off!"

Darren Chadwick is a lucky bunny. He moved in for his last 12.2k and Paul Gourlay flat-called before American Scott Byron moved all-in. Gourlay passes A-7 and Chadwick shows Ac 3d against Byron's Qs Qd.

But the board comes Ad 8c 4s 6c Ts and Gourlay is upset that he'd would've won the pot and wanted to know why Scott Byron wanted to get him off, "I wanted to win the pot," was Byron's response. Paul has since apologised to Scott afterwards and admitted he was totally wrong.
