Title: BlueSq.com GUKPT Bolton: Day 1B - At A Glance
Post by: NoflopsHomer on September 05, 2008, 01:01:57 PM
:hello:

We're still at our B&B down the road but Day 1B kicks off in around an hour or so with players today including Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) Hicks (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) and Jon (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=220) Kalmar (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=220), but there will be a few players missing from this event due to a clash with a scheduled Bad Beat event over the weekend. This certainly has removed some good players from the field and fair number of people will be fancying their chances against this slightly weakened field.

If you'd like updates on anyone in particular then please let us know on the 'Interactive' thread.

Early double up and a casualty on the table of death. Nick Gibson calling off his stack on a 5s Tc 7c 5d board with Ahrt Th against Roberto Romanello who flipped 7d 5h for the house leaving Nick drawing to a ten, which didn't materialise on the Qd river.

The board reads 6h 4d 9h 7d 4s between Keith Littlewood and Billy Ngo, the former having bet 2,500 into a 3,000 pot on the river. Tony Phillips whispers to me, "I passed aces on the turn, I really don't want to see the cards."

Billy stands up, then sits down, then stands up again and says, "This would be a pretty sick call."

He throws in five of the lime-green chips and Littlewood says, "You're good," as Billy shows 5c 5s. Tony Phillips rolls his eyes in despair.

Some players have their names on the back like Mr Cascarino here and errrm....Mr Japan.

We may have only lost three players so far, but it looks as though Katherine (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1079) Hartree (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1079) will be joining them on the rail very shortly. Her near demise came at the hands of a Liverpudlian (I assume, I'm rubbish at deciphering accents) lad two seats prior. On a 7d Ts Qs flop (I believe the action was on the flop rather than the turn), Katherine led out for 1,200 but was swiftly raised to 3,200. Although I was adamantly expecting a fold (I'm sure she motioned towards the pass at one stage), Katherine ultimately reached back for he entire stack and slid it across the line. In similarly quick time, her opponent made the call. "Only got trips," came the reply. "Only got trips," echoed Katherine dejectedly, revealing a dominated Aspades Qd in the process. Her foe showed his 7c 7h. As the 6d turn and 6h river hit the felt, the dealer shoved the pot towards the victor and passed Katherine a bowel of rice in change. "I nearly put it down," she added in the aftermath. "I amost folded preflop, I just don't like playing it."

"Wow," comes the response from Tony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=772) Cascarino (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=772) as Adam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=11) Wilkinson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=11) pushes all in on a Kc 2d 9d board. With 3,500 in the pot and a shove of 8,225, Tony was right to be suspicious, and after umming and aahing for a minute or two, he eventually made a good call with Aspades Kd. "That's what I thought," said a jubilant Tony as Adam flipped Ad Qd. However, the former international footballer still had nine outs to dodge, but with the turn and river coming a blanktastic 9h and Th respectively, the pot, and thus the scalp of Adam (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=11) Wilkinson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=11) were both his. He shoots... he scores.

Because the official chip counts don't see the light of day until level four, I jotted down a few miscellaneous counts upon my last outing:

Ian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1057) McDonald (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1057) -- 7,475

Michael La Vell -- 5,075
James (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=185) Browning (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=185) -- 5,700

Andy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=32) Miles (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=32) -- 11,000

Roberto (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=376) Romanello (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=376) -- 16,500
Priyan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=354) De Mel (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=354) -- 5,350
Nik (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=314) Persaud (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=314) -- 8,225
Pippa (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=352) Flanders (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=352) -- 10,375
Katherine (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1079) Hartree (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1079) -- 1,750
Martino (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=652) Libertini (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=652) -- 8,125
Greg (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=560) Howard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=560) -- 9,500
Chris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=65) Bruce (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=65) -- 7,000
Tony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1339) Phillips (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1339) -- 10,900

Although she was able to nurture her depleted stack for a couple of rounds, Katherine (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1079) Hartree (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1079) has now departed, albeit in dramatic, crowd gasping circumstances. Pushing all in from early position for a total of 1,900, the action folded round to Andreas Mihail (remember him from the Luton final), who halted the action and asked, "Do you want protection?" In the end, Andreas opted to smooth call, and after the remaining players had folded, the hands were flipped over.

My pen went on strike at a vital time, but I do recall that Katherine had A-Q against A-K, and although the queen hit the turn, a king landed on the river. "One for the cameras," said Katherine as she rose from her seat.

Meanwhile, on the far table, the action was being dealt out in equally dramatic fashion as the players groaned/gasped in the face of yet another outdraw. In great shape with queens versus the sixes of Barry Grime, Richard Cook was looking good for a double up, but a vomit-inducing 7-9-T-T-8 board soon crushed his hopes and Richard was gone. "When it's just not your day..." mused Tony Cascarino. "Sick, sick, sick," chanted another player.

Sunny (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=423) Chattha (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=423) and his dazzling hat aren't doing too great, his opponent bet 2,600 into him on the river of a Jc 5c 5h Ks 4c board leaving Sunny shaking his head saying, "I just don't believe you..." He called, his opponent flipped Qc 8c and Sunny's cards went straight into the muck.

Do not adjust your set. This is Stephen (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=409) Walmsley (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=409) next to Surindar Sunar, no not that one, another one! Evil Turquoise Womble!!!

Readers! Please post something, you're making the beagle upset with your lack of interactivity.

Blimey, Beagle's really haven't evolved well... over the last week!

updates on Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) Hicks (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) please.....gl 2 him aswell

Nick is out, in the 75/150 level he lost an 8k pot with A-K against A-A all-in preflop leaving him with just 225 chips. He managed to double that up with 7s 4s ("Half-Wilson," he smirked) against K-T, before doubling again with K-7 against Marty Wilson's 6-6. He was up to 10 BB but then pushed from the hijack with Ad 5d, running into the big blind's A-T. Nick flopped a gutshot and turned the nut flush draw but couldn't get there.

It's a double blow for the Notts boys, as Chris Bruce has also just gone.

Scandie Christoffer Lindroos is also out.

Meanwhile Mick McBag/Cool has doubled up with the mother of all draws on a 8c 5h 4c board holding 6c 5c against his opponent's bullets. The Tc sealed the deal after a blank turn.

can u give me a chip count on the two irish lads please Nicky (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1228) Power (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1228) and Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1426) Taylor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1426)

Rob is still around his starting stack, but in good spirits following his recent Irish success. Will check on Nicky 'Stewie Griffin' Power in a bit.

I can confirm Floppy's earlier report of Chris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=65) Bruce (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=65)'s exit, yet add hand details to the post. According to the combined memory of former neighbours Ian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1057) McDonald (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1057) and Ash (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=38) Hussain (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=38), Chris called all in with A-J versus A-Q on an ace high flop. If this had been in DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) though, Chris would flopped the jack too and gone on to win the event.

Kevin Bloor has also bitten the dust, and in rather filthy circumstances to boot. After seeing a K-9-x flop with Lawrence (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243) Gosney (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243), Kevin led out with pocket aces only to be raised all in by the former bracelet winner. Kevin called, and although he was comfortably in front of Lawrence's 9-7, a nine arrived on the turn to deal the blondeite the cruelest of blows.

As I was chatting inanely to chatterbox Marty (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978) Wilson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978), I was beckoned over to the middle table by Alan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=897) Vinnicombe (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=897) who pointed at the centre of the felt. Although I nipped in with the dexterity of an Olympic gymnast, I could only catch the very end of the hand. "When did it go in?" I asked, noticing Greg (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=560) Howard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=560) had doubled up with J-T versus K-4 on a K-4-Q-9-x board. "On the turn," replied Andreas Mihail. Either way, the important observation was that the pot was being pushed over to Greg, who now has his head back above his starting stack with 14,000.

A frustrated Ben Middleton looks on in despair as his two pair is scuppered by a flush draw. Kevin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=235) O'Leary (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=235) was the offender, his chips going all in with Aspades 8s versus Kd 6h on a Ks 9c 6s flop before hitting a Ts on the turn and dodging the non-pairing 5c river.

Nicky Power and Rob Garfield are both grinding away on 8k apiece. Rob Garfield is on about the same after Alan Vinnicombe check/raised Rob's 2,300 bet on the turn of a 5c 3d 7h 3h board all-in for a total of 5,175. Rob passed and Alan showed Jh Jc.

Mick McBag/Cool is smarting after he raised UTG and was called in midposition, but the dealer mucked Mick's cards as he was picking up the big blind. Obviously the TD ruled that the pot now belonged to the caller, but the latter sportingly gave Mick back his raise.

Players about to go on a

*************** 40 Minute Dinner Break ******************

As the break commenced, I ran into Jerome Bradpiece as he was tumbling towards the buffet. For someone on 6,000, he seemed surprisingly upbeat, but I guess when you've been as low as 3,000, it's an understandable reaction. "I had to fold the nuts," he sighed. "I made up the small blind with Q-T off and hit a straight on a 9-K-J rainbow flop. I checked, the big blind bet, a limper called, and I made it 800. The big blind called and the other dude folded. An 8 came on the turn, and I led out for 1,500. He called. On the river, it came a jack, and I was thinking about making a block bet, but with just 4,000, thought it would be too hard to fold if he came over the top, so I just checked. He pushed, and after thinking about it for ages, I let it go. He assured me that he had J-9, and I believe him, I can't see that there's many hands that I'm beating there."

Play has just recommenced, so, like Pete Tong, we continue.

Michael La Vell is out. He ran nines into queens and makes the long trek back to the Street.

Charles Denton is also an early post-dinner casualty. He pushed Ad Qs on a 3s 8d 3h flop but was looked up by David LaRonde's 6h 6c. The 7c turn and Js river provided no help.

I recall a shout out earlier for the Irish contingent of Nicky Power and Rob Taylor. Well, both are sharing a table at the moment, and you'll be pleased to know that Rob Taylor has added to his short-stack by eliminating even shorter-stacker Howard Plant. I didn't see the preflop action, but Howard was all in with A-K versus sixes and failed to hit, his "Good call that" comment on departure perhaps tinged with a smidgen of sarcasm.

The very next hand, Nicky Power reraised Richard Buck's early position raise of 800 to 2,500, which was enough to take it down uncontested. Richard showed deuces.

Sunny Chattha has had a frustrating day.

In a four-way limped pot with Mick McCool, Nik Persaud and Richard Liotta. Sunny led out from the big blind on a Jh 9d 7s flop after Mick had checked. Liotta called, Persaud folded and McCool came along also.

On the 3c turn, McCool again checked, but this time Chattha was cautious also, and Liotta bet 1,800. McCool folded and Chattha thought for absolutely ages, before folding to the bet that represented about a 1/3 of his stack at that point.

A few hands later though, he picked back up some chips, moving in on a Th 2d 4d board to get back up over 7k. But this was to prove a false dawn.

Liotta raised once more and Sunny defended from his big blind with 8c 6c. The flop came 4s 9s 7h, Sunny checked, Liotta bet about the size of the pot and Sunny moved in, only to be snap called by Liotta's 7s 7d. The 9d left the HitSquadder drawing dead so the Ts was little consolation.

"Perhaps it was a fishy call preflop but he always seemed to be at it," was his resigned conclusion.

Another all in on Table Taylor, this time in the form of Tony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1339) Phillips (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1339). He found himself in need of divine intervention with 6d 6c against the Jh Js of Richard Buck. The 7h Tc Ac flop didn't offer any hope, and neither did the 9d turn. On the 8c river, Richard exclaimed, "Fucking hell," but was quickly informed by Tony that he'd rivered a bigger straight. "Oh, sorry, I do apologise," said a relieved Richard.

Ian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=175) Nelson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=175) and Martino (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=652) Libertini (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=652) are also missing in action.

Nicky (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1228) Power (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1228) sadly no longer has the power, as he's just been eliminated by Richard Buck. It was a classic coin flip in the end, Nicky's Ac Kh failing to hit against Js Jd on a 5d 7c 3s 3d 8s. As a firm bang on the table signified Richard's joy, Nicky quietly rose from his seat, grabbed his coat and exited the cardroom. I think you can tell from his expression what he thought of the hand.

Jim Reid has departed, as has Alan Armitage. The latter pushed under the gun with sixes, but was looked up by the K-9 of this shifty figure in the big blind. King on the board and that was all she wrote for Big Al, who had been Small Al for the majority of the tournament.

Minor disaster for Greg Howard, who has just lost half his stack with Kh Kd against another player's A-K, with a fatal bullet hitting the board.

Justin Devonport is clearly enthralled by today's proceedings.

Nik Persaud has doubled up with Kd 8d against Aspades Qs, all-in after the flop of a 5h 7h 6c Kh 4c board.

Kenny Burke has doubled up in a pretty amazing 20k pot against Jim Reid after the latter set him on the turn of a Js 7c 6c 6h board with 9c 7s against Burke's 3h 3d only for the ugly 3c to rob Reid of a monster pot. He's back under 10k once more.

Mick McBag/Cool has doubled up twice in quick succession, both times against Alan Vinnicombe, first with 8-4 against Vinnicombe's A-5 after the board came 7-6-5-9-2, then against a couple of hands later with Ahrt Th against Vinnicombe's 8s 8h after he caught an ace on the flop, whilst short stack J Omara was also knocked out in this hand too holding a priced in 9c 5d.

Rob Garfield is also OUT, as is Nik Persaud who lost a coinflip with Aspades Qd to Andreas Olympios' Th Td.

The most exciting pot of the day so far just took place, and involved Lawrence (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243) Gosney (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243) and Surinder (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=422) Sunar (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=422), and led to the demise of Marty (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978) Wilson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978). When I joined the action, there was several thousand (maybe more) in the pot and Marty was all in for about a 1,000 with the board reading 4d 3h 5c 5h.

Surinder, stoic and meticulous as usual, made a deep reach and pushed out a column of around 15 to 20,000, just about enough to put Lawrence all in if he decided to commit to the hand. Clearly faced with a decision of enormous perplexity (wow, no squiggly red line under that!), Lawrence starting riffling through his chips while simultaneously staring a hole through Surinder that would have made Superman jealous. Surinder, meanwhile, kept cucumber cool under pressure, as motionless as always with his chin held up by his two paws. As Lawrence glared at his foe, he shook his head and mumbled, "I don't think you'd bet that much with the full house" under his breath.

With the clock ticking, Lawrence counted out his stack, before taking one final look at his opponent and silently sliding his chips across the line. As Surinder tabled 9h 5s, Lawrence was a relieved man, his Ahrt 2h looking to avoid a paired board by the river. Thankfully for the bracelet winner, the Jc on the river was as blank as it gets, leaving Lawrence to collect an estimated 45,000 pot. Whilst Surinder recounted his depleted stack, Marty, whose Aspades Qh failed to find the split pot he was in need of, wished the table good luck and quietly slipped away.

A good call from Lawrence for his tournament life, in my esteemed, yet uneducated opinion.

Players are now on a short break.

Also hitting the deck is Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1426) Taylor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1426). In an all Irish clash, Bill White took no mercy on his fellow countryman, raising it up preflop from the cut-off with Ac Qh, before calling Rob's push from the small blind with Jd Td. Bill shook his head dismissively when Rob paired up on the 4s Ts 2h flop, but by the Ahrt turn and 9c river, justice was served and Rob was gone.

At first I assumed Sid Harris had met his match, but no, he'd simply moved table. Tim Flanders did inform me that he near tripled his stack before he'd left, A-J versus K-K keeping the EPT finalist alive. Sid is still short though, with around 13,000 in chips.

Lawrence Gosney has been a one-man wrecking ball since tea, but Ash Hussain has just stopped him in his tracks. The board was reading 2s 5c 4s 8h 2c and Ash was facing a 4,000 bet on the river which at that point represented most of stack. Ash made the call, and in a refreshing change to the almost regularly occurence of a bluffer instantly mucking their cards, Lawrence flipped his Ah 9c up straght away perhaps also to indicate that he does raise with decent hands on occasions. Ash turned over 6d 4h, not much, but enough to keep him going in this tournament.

Pippa Flanders has do-diddly-doubled up with Ahrt 4h against Aspades Qd, no four on the board, but an equally welcome 2h 2s 5s 3d 6h for an increased in her forlorn stack.

Chaz Chattha continues to now represent the HitSquad solo here in Bolton, a quick check/raise from 1,500 to 3,800 on a Js 7s Jh board elicited a prompt fold from Kevin O'Leary.

Jerome Bradpiece, who looks like a sleepy grizzly bear, has just eliminated Chris Moores with Qd Qh against Jd Jh.

Meanwhile, big hand for Kevin O'Leary betting 1,600 on a Jc 7c 2s flop, J Byrne check/raised to 5,000 and O'Leary instantly moved all-in putting the emphasis back on Byrne. He agonised for ages before eventually folding, but it's hard to see O'Leary having a made hand here given the speed of which he moved in, as surely he would've have thought about the best way to get the most chips in if he wasn't drawing.

Justin Devonport (centre) has doubled up with big slick against the knaves of Steven Clear, meanwhile Neil Channing has just been knocked out and will have to trade in his Lollipop of Grinding for the bitter Boiled Sweets of Defeat.

There's been plenty of action of late, most confrontations leading to an exit. The first player to depart is Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=369) Herbert (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=369). All I know is that he had K-T versus David LaRonde's 5-3 on a queen high board, five on the flop. Judging by David's post-hand comments ("I was trying to steal the blinds, and got caught"), I imagine he raised it up preflop, Richard shoved from the big blind and David made an obligatory call.

On the neighbouring table, however, Sid (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=396) Harris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=396) continues his climb, this time come over the top of Carl Hoefkens' 3,000 bet on a Qh 5d Aspades Kc 8s board. It was only several thousand more to call, but Carl deemed he was buried and released the hand. As a result, Sid is now hovering around the 20,000 mark.

Neil (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=302) Channing (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=302) looks completely different without his glasses.  Like Superman only different.

It's funny you should mention Neil (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=302) Channing (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=302) (funny peculiar rather than funny haha), as he has also been eliminated from today's event. After limping from early position for 600, Mohammed Shoahebe called from the button, Kenny (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2359) Burke (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2359) made up the small blind, and Tony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=772) Cascarino (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=772) checked his option on the big.

Flop = 6h Jc 7d

The action checked round to Moahmmed who led out for 2,000. Kenny and Tony both folded, and Neil called.

Turn = 5h

Again Neil checked, and again Mohammed bet, this time for 5,000. But instead of calling, Neil counted up his chips and announced all in, pushing the 5,000 plus an extra 6,150 more across the line.

As Mohammed considered his options, Neil quickly realised he was ahead. But in the end, the two hearts enticed Mohammed in, as he made the call with Ahrt Jh. Neil showed Kh Kc.

Although the final card was red, it was a diamond rather than a heart. Sadly for Neil, it was also an ace. A quick look down at the felt, and finally it sank in. Neil tapped the table in acceptance before shaking the hand of Mohammed and making his exit.

Another favourite gone.

Andy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=32) Miles (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=32) has doubled up. Ad Qh versus 5d 5s on an Ac 6c 4s Th 7s board.

I believe updated chip counts will be arriving at the end of level eight, but for now, get ya teeth into these:

Mohammed Shoahebe -- 63,000
Lawrence (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243) Gosney (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243) -- 79,000
The Artsit Formerly Know as HWCBN -- 9,000
Dennis Clough -- 63,000
David LaRonde -- 33,000
Pippa (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=352) Flanders (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=352) -- 23,000
Jerome (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199) Bradpiece (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199) -- 23,000
Bill White -- 26,000
Kenny (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2359) Burke (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2359) -- 32,000
Tony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=772) Cascarino (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=772) -- 39,000
Sid (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=396) Harris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=396) -- 17,000
Alan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=897) Vinnicombe (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=897) -- 15,000

As we near the final level, Tim Flanders has doubled through courtesy of pace setter Lawrence Gosney. With Tim looming over the table, he looked braced to leave, but his A-Q versus 3-3 managed to river a queen on an otherwise raggy board to keep him alive.

Also gone is Mick McBag, he moved in for 10,825 over the top of Surindar Sunar's UTG raise with 8h 8c. Sadly for the McBag fans, Surindar duly counted out the chips and dropped them into the middle revealing Kings which duly held on the 2c 4h 5h 3h Ts board.

Snoopy then arrived wondering how Mick had gone out, I told him how it had gone down and the non-plussed Brummie beagle said, "Oh he should have folded because Surindar had kings, you see you don't want put your money in with worst hand..."

Oh Snoopy, the king of hindsight...

10 minute break, then 20 more minutes of action then it'll be time to bag 'em and tag 'em.

As the action was rather lack-lustre, I thought it might be interesting if I reported a hand from each of the remaining four tables, whether it was a big pot or a small one. It was a mixed bag in the end:

(1) Without hesitation, Roberto Romanello moves all in under the gun for a total of 9,000. Just two seats along, Ash Hussain peeks down at his cards, and makes the call in equally quick time. The action then passes around to Andrew Taylor who sniggers to himself, places his head in his hands, and folds a hand that I imagine was A-Q, T-T or something of similar, but likely inferior strength.

On their backs, and Roberto is in trouble, his Kd Qs in need of assistance against the Aspades Kc of Ash. The Td Qc 7h delivers, but also gives Ash four cards to a Broadway straight. "No jack no king," demands the Welshman as a 7h hits the turn. Breaths are held for the river, but it's another blank, the Qh pairing the board and giving Roberto the pot. Ash, meanwhile, is visibly frustrated/gutted, and will now have to try and work his 20,000 stack back up to what it once was.

(2) No such drama on the neihbouring table. Sid Harris raises it up to 2,600 from utg+1, and everyone folds.

(3) The same applies with the next hand. With the action folding around to Lawrence Gosney, the bracelet winner makes it 2,500 to play from the cut off and watches as everyone folds. Although the speed of Lawrence's fold and the facial expressions of the other players suggested that this was a regular occurrence, Lord Gosney did indeed have the goods as he kindly reveals an Ahrt Kh.

(4) Finally, on the last hand before the ten minute break, Jerome Bradpiece raises to 2,100 from early to mid position, Bill White makes the call one seat along, and big stacker Mohammed Shoahebe passes on the big blind.

On the Kh 6d Qc flop, Jerome leads out for 3,100 and Bill quickly calls. A Qh on the turn causes both players to pause, but ultimately both players check. Come the 7h river, Jerome once again pauses briefly before checking, but Bill is less hospitable, betting out 6,500. Clearly tortured by his decision, Jerome mulls over his options momentarily before making what appears to be a reluctant call. In the end, he was right to be reluctant, as Bill shows Ahrt Qd for the turned trips whilst Jerome simply mucks.

In the aftermath, Jon Omara, possibly not realising Jerome had just lost a pot, asked how much he had. "Eleven thousand," sighed last year's Walsall GUKPT winner, "but I just gave away 6,000 I didn't have to."

Jerome Bradpiece went out just before the end, Ts 4d from the button into Justin Devonport's Ad Ts, the board proving particularly cruel: Kh Jh Td 4s Js

Sid Harris doubled through Surindar Sunar with Kings against Nines, but I'll leave the fun final hand to Snoopy...

See you tomorrow at 2pm and the return of Womblecam!!!

Well, it took right up until the final ten minutes to stumble upon what I would declare as the 'hand of the day', but it was worth the wait, if only for the endless banter that ensued throughout the hand.

The hand in question involved two of the chattiest players remaining in the tournament, Roberto (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=376) Romanello (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=376) and Liverpudlian (I think) Michael Humphries. It was Michael who commenced the action, raising it up to 4,000 preflop. As the play passed around to Roberto in the small blind, Michael pulled down his hood in true Phil (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=710) Laak (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=710) fashion and concealed all but his eyes like some form of poker ninja.

Without too much hesitation, Roberto made the call and the two players saw an 8d Qc Ts flop. As soon as the board was dealt, Roberto peered down at his chips, grabbed the bottom of his two columns and confidently slid his remaining stack across the felt.

"I'm winning, definitely," boasted Roberto as Michael rose from his seat.

"I might call just to bum you," joked Michael, much to the amusement of everyone watching. "I've always wanted to bum a Welshman."

"I knew you were going to do that," he continued. "I need any any ace, king or jack."

"You can't gamble on that," pleaded Roberto.

"Has anyone got any lube?" inquired Michael.

"The masseuse might have some," added Ash (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=38) Hussain (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=38), who had otherwise remained content to watch on in awe.

The mood suddenly went serious.

"How much is it?" asked Michael.

"13,600," replied the dealer after counting the Welshman's stack.

"Is it that much?" said Roberto, perhaps feigning surprise. "Whatever happens," he continued, "I like you, you're a nice guy."

Before Roberto had barely finished his compliment, the chips were in and Michael had called.

As Michael revealed Ahrt Kd for ace high, Roberto chuckled to himself and shook his head. "Oh no," he said as he tabled an inferior fingers-caught-in-the-cookie-jar Jh 7h.

The crowd held the breath as the dealer popped out a harmless 4d turn, some perhaps devilishly willing out a nine so they could be entertained before hometime and witness the sickest of bad beats. Michael's eyes were fixated on the felt.

As if in slow-motion, out it came, a 7d on the river. The crowd gasped.

"Ship it!" exclaimed Roberto as he high fived his neighbour, the smile surely requiring a plastic surgeon to remove. "Sorry mate," he added.

Taking his beat like a man, Michael remained cool and simply concluded, "I still have chips, I told you I'm a shit player."

What a hand! Roberto is now dangerous, but don't count Michael out. He took his beat well asnd still has enough chips remaining to mount a decent challenge, although the wounds from the seven on the river may take a while to heal.

Gosh, after writing all that (my apologies, but it was worth a little more effort), I almost forgot to report Sid (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=396) Harris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=396)' final level double up. He got it in with kings versus nines and survived a 4-4-8-5-J board. Sadly, he didn't threaten to probe any Welshmen.
