Title: Limit hands
Post by: Graham C on September 18, 2008, 05:38:55 PM
So I've moved down to $.5/$1.00 LHE on Stars and just finished my first 2 hour 9 table session which was fun.  Managed to finish up a whopping $23.80 or 3.90 BB/100 - I guess anything green is good, but it's not staggering.

Anyway,  here's a few of my biggest loss hands, how'd I do and at what point should I realise I'm behind?

Hand 1 - http://www.pokerhand.org/?3207669

Hand 2  - ok this one was the ace obviously - http://www.pokerhand.org/?3207693

Hand 3 - http://www.pokerhand.org/?3207698 - should I stop betting on paired boards generally?

Hand 4 - I'm sure AK is -EV, even when you do hit - http://www.pokerhand.org/?3207704

Hand 1 I play pretty much the same, surprisingly crafty oppo.

Hand 2 I can't say I;ve never made the crying call down there because of course I have, but with multi oppos hanging around, don't get caught in the middle if chips start flying.  If I'm really sure I'm cooked, then I will fold, but if you ever get it wrong and cost yourself the pot it feels a LOT worse than calling 2 more bets.

Hand 3 OK as played.  If you had position in the hand, you could think about checking behind on the turn.  If you do, you have to call his lead on the river obv, but that works out at 1 bet rather than 3 if you have reason to believe he has it.

Hand 4  You get some nice hands on the button dont you?! 3bet.  Take control of the board.  It doen't do you any good as it happens on this occasion :)

I've had a whack at playing limit recently...I have to suggest you need rakeback for limit to be worthwhile so I'm not sure Stars is the way forward. Limit = a lot of rake... especially if 9 tabling!

Hand 1 - I play the same

Hand 2 - Yeah, I hate these, you can't fold the turn otherwise they'll be representing aces every time. If someone raised behind your call then perhaps lay it down. Once you call the turn you can't really pass the river

Hand 3 - I play the same, I hate these as well...they have to have the ten but you can't fold an overpair.

Hand 4 - AK on pokertracker was mega profitable in a recent 5000 hand sample...quite small I guess but suggests to me it's  +ev
           - Def have to 3bet this PF every time PF....Ugh sick one. You do well not to raise the turn and lose an extra 2 bets when he 3 bets you.

Cheers guys, will absorb.

I'm hoping to play on blonde so will have loyalty bonus, although the fixed table size isn't attractive, hopefully I'll adjust to the small version.

AK isn't profitable for me at the moment, perhaps that's why I'm just flat calling raises at the moment - to see where I am post flop, then I can either get out cheap or then hit the raise button.  To be fair, I did the same in NLHE though and once I grew some balls and started 3 betting, it turned into a +EV hand!
