Title: X Factor
Post by: Maxriddles on October 11, 2008, 05:21:41 PM
The X Factor proper starts tonight after the end of the annual humiliation of those needing protecting from themselves.

Have had a healthy punt on Laura White to win this before the final 12 were picked should give me some interest while my wife is watching it every week. ;whistle;

i think either girl band or bad lashes are for the chop tonight for sure, as for the win i think that Austen or alexandra, just dont rate laura that highly.

one of simon's group to win is 5/2 on betfair which is very generous, but how that scott got in over mali i'll never know, dont rate him and think hes boring.

which one is Laura - is she the young girl with the long dark hair who sounds a bit like Amy Winehouse?  I like her from the girls, Austen from the boys and Rachel from the over 25s.

rachel's a bad egg imo, she will shoot herself in the foot at some point im sure.  great voice though

JLS are pretty good, but with the nature of the show i can see all bands sent home after 5 weeks max. people just latch onto individuals rather than groups.

Great start for X-Factor - Girl Band have been dressed to look like 6-year olds off to their birthday party and needed buckets to hold their tune in.

Cowell spot on - looked like Girls Aloud rejects.

Yes that is Laura, Austen is good too but I'm not too sure he'll get the votes.

I don't think the winner will come from the groups or over 25's but JLS and Rachel are very good too, that said I suspect Rachel could be a bit of time bomb on a live TV show.

I also think Daniel is there on sentiment but will probably still be there next week despite his performance tonight.

LOL at JLS - first guy mangles his opening verse and they cut to a shot of Louis with what could be the very definition of a rictus smile on his face and you could clearly see him thinking 'why the hell did I pick this song'.

Title: Re: X Factor
Post by: AndrewT on October 11, 2008, 08:14:09 PM
And now Simon Cowell cuts the throat of his own act with a hopeless song choice - Scott's about to fall apart on stage, he's shot to pieces.

lol been waiting for a x factor thread to start. i say this because i work for the x factor and been waiting to hear some comments!!
looks like its gonna be a battle of the girls this year as all 3 are seen as strong favourites, especially dianna vickers.  i remember some odds being released a few weeks ago and the 2 favourites the bookies made, i knew werent in the final 12 so i did fancy a cheeky punt but didnt think my job was worth it lol

hope u all enjoy!!

love The X Factor

I agree with Agentchip & Co. It's down to the girls.

Although  Rachel wont be in the running she'll be kicked off for Drugs or No6 will be on it's way.

Diana and Alexandra I thought were mint the winner is between those 2 imho

Would like to see  Daniel or Rachael bite the bullet next. I think He's not good enough by a country mile and she's
just horrible....

only exceptional girls make it on this show (leona lewis)

its a known fact that the majority of the audience are young girls 12-18 who dont vote for girls, they vote for cute boys. so unless anothe leona is unearthed this year (which imo there isn't) i think a boy will win.

my moneys on one of simons boys winning it and think austin has the most talent of them (though wasnt great the weekend but has scope to improve imo)

lol, well i could have given inside information a few weeks ago. i work for a post production company called The Farm Group, and we have loads of tv companies come in and use our facilities and produce their shows with us. Thames TV are the company who do X factor and britains got talent and i was based in the building where they produced the show. our company has 4 buildings around soho and i am being moved to our main HQ to be a tech op where i will work on a load of different things. x factor will still be part of it, but only a small part and i wont be chatting to the producers anymore

Man imo she is so bad, she puts on some fake accent when she sings. I can't think of who she is trying to impersonate, but she'd be 5385483 times better if she just sang in her natural voice...

And someone tell her to brush her hair...

That bugs me about Diana too - she sounds like she's trying to sound Irish when she sings.  I can't believe that that is her 'natural' singing voice.

Scott & Rachel to finnish in the bottom 2.

I think Daniel should go but Tikay and the blue rince brigade seem intent on keeping him in.

He only got on the live show because of the sympathy vote - he should have been booted out at the auditions.

Well I think I luckboxed the best one to watch as my first show, big band music is one of my favourite genres ....

I think the first guy on was quite weak, Scott i think his name was ?

The little Irish lad with the big hair was weak as well. Daniel was cheesy and will probs go tonight i think.

The big girl who did the Billy Holliday number was awesome.

Was a good show, I actually enjoyed it.

Oh and bolt, you have done your money bud, neither of those 2 will be going tonight. (well at least they shouldnt, if the viewers vote on performance rather than which lad they fancy)

Rachel also does my box in but she was brilliant the night so cant see her going.

I think Daniel was worst followed by wee irish dude that wears a helmet when he performs

sigh, this is true, as soon as Rachel sung the first note of her song it was a certainty she was staying.

I thought the older guy that was jolly to go would suit big band week and the other two dont seem to be very popular irrespective of their talent but theyve nailed it tonight and he really wasnt anything special.

Yep, I've done my dough too Rachel was awesome tonight and most of the guys sucked big time. Felt a little sorry for Eggnog as the last two guys I heard sing that song were Frank and Dino.

Daniel must go but if not Scott.

Title: Re: X Factor

Scott was the weakest performance of the night to be fair ... if they are being judged purely on that, then the judges got it spot on.

Fk it, I might have to watch next week now, but i suppose it will be back to shitty mariah carey and whitney housten songs next week.

I dont like the way Walsh and Cowell dig at Daniel, imo that young Irish kid is the worst of the lot, but the teenage girls will vote for him ...

bottom 2 tonight, Daniel and The first girl Is it Rachel ?

Daniel will probs get the boot, but he wasnt the worst tonight.

Austin was a shock exit tbh, we all know these shows rely on the young teen girl vote, and i thought he would survive, Daniel is a better vocalist than Eoghan for sure, maybe its because he has a mature voice i dont know ?.

Anyway its a talent contest voted on by the general public, never expect it to make any sense.

I don't normally watch X Factor after the freaks are eliminated, but caught the end last night. The one that got knocked out had the look on her face as if she had given up before the judges made their vote.

EXACTLY, TY.

morning papers she's robbed and old granny, vt before her performance she throws a massive strop and looks like a complete cow and then sings like she was being strangled, seriously awfull, i dont know what the action on betfair was but i was on at 7/2 before they showed the vt and her performance after which she quickly shortend to 6/4 and later 5/4, what pissed me off is they didnt even give me a run for my money, bastards called her name first ::)

she would NOT have beat laura if they were in the bottom two

ruth was awsome in the sing off

this year has become a farse.

2 of the best singers in austin and laura eliminated all it needs now is diana out saturday for the worst treble ever!

i think rachel has got her hommies to threaten the judges, she is awful screaming and shouting her songs with attitude. and to be allowed to go it alone dumping her mentor is disgraceful.

daniel must go this week followed by rachel.

diana is different gravy but can the twats that vote on xfactor see it?

i havent watched this series at all - some observations.

1. She might be a crackin lookin bird, but Cheryl Cole is as thick as pigshit. She was actually amazed that someone could play the piano and sing (badly) at the same time.

2. They all get angry at Cowell and get offended by his comments, then take his advice 100%.

3. Her who got voted off wasnt great.

4. Since when did Mariah Carey become a musical advisor ?

Alexandra is head and shoulders above the rest, the only one who can become a top act worldwide straight away.

disagree here, alexandra is very good but imo there are hundreds of similar artists out there where as diana is a breath of fresh air and unique.

So whos going tonight?

what a fuckin div cheryle cole is, she's there to be a "judge" but last week when commenting on Rachels performance she focused on how her confidence had taken a knock and that she hopes she gets another chance then this week when they show the VT before the performance she says: "last week was awful for Rachel, she sang the whole song out of tune"

didnt fancy saying that on the night then you dumb bitch when ive had a lump on her to go at 7/2 and do what you're getting paid millions for? fckin idiot

you know what happend last week, they wanted her to stay because they thought it would make the show look bad if the morning paper stories affected the way people voted so they didnt comment on how bad a performance it was and focused on how we are a forgiving nation and how everyone gets a second chance and guilted people to keep her in because theyre too clueless to think for themselves

Please don't refer to my Cheryl as a div.

Love how all the judges realize they need Diana kept in the comp now and over do the sympathy vote. The two girls plus jls for the final if I was choosing. Still something about Ruth though. It must be the lungs.

Title: Re: X Factor
Post by: bolt pp on November 15, 2008, 08:26:17 PM
these people are retards aint they?

three people go to the final, so louis walsh tonight.............

on his own act: "jls are the best act in the comp...........i think they can win it in" (his VT at the start)"

on(irish kid, fck knows how to spell his name): "you're gonna get to the final, you deserve to be there"

on alexandra: "you are amazing and deserve to be in the final i hope the public get behind you"

on diana: "you're gonna be in the final"

i know he's Irish but it's not advanced traspositions, 3 spots in the final, 4 acts he's now told are gonna be there, i know theyre just there to justify their $$$$$$$$$$$ salary and spout a load of generic bollox but when they rub it in peoples faces like that they just dont give a fuck about the public or the expendable kids theyre exploiting to build up generated publicity so they can keep going earning, it makes a mug of everyone involved, anyone with half a brain knows this is the turn out with this show but when they rub it everyones face how little they give a fuck you cant help wanting to spit on these people and happy slap then if you ever saw them in the street

at last some sense and daniel finally goes!

diane was awful this week and looks as though her illness has affcted her confidence as well as her voice, she needs a big performance or she could be in trouble.

Rachel was much better this week but it was a great song choice for her voice, she sang the first half of the song great then she kinda gets the "attitude" attack in her voice and absolutly kills the 2nd half. get her outa here next week cant stand her!

did anyone catch leona lewis performing in the results show? WOW that was about a million years above any of the contestants performances and puts it into reality how weak this year is compared to the year leona won it (though i do think its stronger than last)

The rumour is that Diana is consistently in the top two for votes every week - hence the reason she's favourite despite not giving brilliant performances.

Yeah - she absolutely murdered her sing-off song. Against anyone other than Daniel she'd have gone. She also seems to be a very dislikable person (even ignoring her past) so she'll struggle for votes.

She sounded amazing and when you consider she was singing a slightly dreary Snow Patrol song it was an astounding performance.

Beware of betting on reality TV shows. Looking at Betfair for Strictly on Saturday night I was amazed that John Sergeant was odds-against to go (about 2.25) as I thought that there weren't any unpopular people left but it turns out it was right and once again he wasn't in the bottom two.

Thank goodness Rachel has gone, though I must say her final song was good and much better than JLS tonight. I think the judges knew she had to go as she is a time bomb waiting to off!

I cannot see what there is about Diana, once you have seen and heard her there is no difference each performance, she sounds and looks the same and her hair and hands really annoy me. To me she is getting worse each week.

My favourite is Alexandra, very professional and deserves to win.  I also think Ruth has improved each week and I thought she was really good.

So what do we reckon the final 5 positions will be???

I don't think it's so cut and dry like previous years, the remaining five are all good in their own right.

My opinion of them all:

Diana - Love her, would go and see her gig, breath of fresh air and even though she has this unique style which is quite narrow it's what I love about her
Alexandra - Ditto, she is very professional and would put on a performance and a half, very versatile
JLS - A great group although Louis had fcuked them right over. Not that different though to a lot of groups out there but when doing their own songs they just have that smileability factor
Euoghan(sp) - Has grown on me over the weeks. Gotta give him credit. One to watch.
Ruth - All woman, sensual with a fantastic voice although not always as consistent or as versatile as Alexandra, still fab though.
(Still gutted that Laura went out so early on)

I'd be happy to see Diana or Alexandra win.

This is my prediction for the final five positions (not ness what I'd want but how I THINK it might go:)

5th - JLS
4th - Ruth
3rd - Euoghan
2nd - Diana
1st - Alexandra

I think you are probably right - I also agree re Laura - really wanted her to do well.

Unfortunately I missed it on Saturday as I was in hairymidgethomeland but I do like JLS and think that they would probably benefit most from winning.  Alexandra is a class above X-Factor but not in Leona league.

I understand why some poeple like Diana as she is a bit quirky but to me she sounds like a 2000s version of the Cranberries - who at least had the excuse of being Irish explaining that strange vocal thing.........

But the Cranberries lady didn't over do the voice thing which is why they were so good imo

Diana I liked at first but she overdoes the 'hear my quirky oorghs and eorgis' leading to her just murdering stuff now. If someone could get her to control the affectations she might genuinely be a breath of fresh air than a rapidly maturing cliche.

Technically, Ruth's song isn't even by Britney...it's a rockin' Joan Jett song that Britney covered.  Dunno if that should have been allowed, but deffo the best song of the lot for this week.  Says a lot about Britney's songs.

Alexandra is the same as Leona though.

Is it just me that hates the build up videos where in every single one someone says "If they don't pull this off it's going to be the end" or "This is their last chance" etc etc. Tiltfest.

Eoghan = little boy who is pish

Interestingly somebody had a £1000 on Alexandra to go out tonight if they got 36-1 ......

I was tempted to take some of it but bottled it.

It was only available for a couple of mins

Ive been on Diana at (7-1) from the start but she is wavering badly now...........hmmm

Sinitta was on telly during the week and she was saying how everyone who works on the show had been sent a list of rules (must not touch Britney, must not talk to Britney etc) - they weren't even allowed to watch her rehearse.  Given that, I reckon Dermot would be in deep doo doo if he did!

Not so sure about Diana, I agree with Bolt here.  On her worst week, the one after she sat out a week, she was through with no worries and she was shit that night.  Not been overly terrible for her tonight, prob an average Diana performance.

Think JLS will be gone

yeah JLS will be gone tonight I think, it all comes down to popularity not talent. Look at the porridge wog last year, crap singer !!! and that welsh bloke was good, but because he said he loved his mum after every song , he won.

I think and you may not like it but "eggnog" will win this year

how can JLA be 2/1 and eoghan be 9/2?

Cos Eggnog is shit !

he should never even be in the final 3 .. or 4 ... or 5

Alexandra must win for the show to retain any shred of credibility.

I'm gonna miss the results but PLEASE let alexandra lose, she's a wrongun, i can see it in her eyes, she's got a bad attitude!

she's not at all reserved and understated like leona lewis and i bet once(if) she wins we're all gonna see what a bitch she is.

yeah she can sing and she looks hot most of the time but i can tell that girl is a problem bird and the public will not stay with her!!!

what can you do thoughm the other two are fuckin awfull!!!

It was such an ostentatious and unnessarcery version and the comments were so sycophantic, it's turned into a load of bollox.

Serously does cheryl do anything else other thatn cry and say how great they are, what a div, maybe shes thinking about how much moneys she's earning for sitting about like a muppet doing fuck all, i'd cry as well.

I do love the: "get used to the red carpets and limos" and "i see you having a big career in music", they say that to every finalist dont they and then  you never hear from them again.

And Cowell states that it was absolutely outstanding!!! what tosh, probs her worst performance if you ask me.

Whilst I do believe she is the best act there, can only think he wants her to win above his act as she would earn him more money.

Is it just me or Is Simon starting to look genuinly embarresed that after 7 or so seasons of pop idol/ x factor he's still getting away with this bollox.

Executive producer of the show, gets paid for that, his concept ITV gotta pay him for that, gets paid as a judge, owns the winner.

he must go home at night and be terrified that one day somehow the public are all gonna clock it's just a load of bollox and that he doesnt really care and but for the fact he gets 7 different pay checks for doing this shit for all he caresl the contestants could go fuck themselfs, he must laugh himself to sleep.

lol,

I mean they were good for kids, they didnt get caught up in believing all the "your gonna be superstars" bollox it seemed and just used the program as a platform for something realistic like a butlins career which they seemed well happy with and even now theyve got a CD i think.

I know theres an argument to say these kids are getting exploited and then when it all goes wrng a year later you read about how theyre not coming out of their house ever and signing on but how thick do you have to be not to look at 7/8 years of history in this thing and say well if i dont win it the chances are very slim i'm gonna have any sort of career in music and even if i do win it i might get fucked, how  naive a person do you have to be? I'm sure Simon Cowell is one day on this show gona say: "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah" when commenting on a performance just to see if he can get away with it! you know what? he will!!!!!!!!

It may actually work against Alex, as Beyonce looks and sings like a proper bona fide superstar, and could overshadow Alex, whereas Eggnog and JLS were sharing the stage with guys Louis Walsh saved from a life of tarmacing roads.

what matters is the constant blowing smoke up their arses by judges who will now drop them like a stone (well after a year when they have milked every penny from them)

They build them up and then drop them and forget them.

A lot of people who wouldn't usually vote do vote on the final, Eggnogg had a regular vote from Grannies and 10 to 13 year olds, the additional voters who don't usually vote tend to vote for the person they think is best, therefore Alex wins by a street..

I have never watched this stuff, but last night was at home with 5 kids, mad on it

An hour after starting watching it I would have gladly stoved Eggnog's face in with a brick if he came within 50 miles of my house. Jeez, he resembled a chipmunk on tamazapan.

Beyonce is good and well fit though.

To me, none of the final three will be lasting pop acts. Poor quality IMO compared to the Lewis and the Young.

Agreed.
Alexandra singing with Beyonce showed just how average she is.

I think Beyonce may just be the most beautiful woman on the planet - stunning.

I quite like the girl tippy-toeing down the stairs in her leopard skin print undies in the M&S ad.

Apparently she speaks very highly of me too.
