Morning!  It's a pretty pleasant day over here and time to settle down in the corner of yet another room so grand it looks like a film set.  Gilt pillars before breakfast!  I have taken the gracious allowance of one of the TV guys to sit in the corner of their room as licence to do just that until our press briefing.  I am just writing out a full list of players and tables which may entertain you until the start an hour from now.

Coverage proper will begin as soon as the Press Conference  - meaning a briefing for us alleged Members of the press - has taken place. The Press Briefing was scheduled for 11.00 local, & it's now 11.15.

Play is due to being at Noon, & the players are starting to congregate outside the Venue - they are not permitted to enter before 11.45.

And a special blonde welcome to Matt Savage & his team. Matt is the promoter of this Tourney, & will be "lifting" the blonde Live Update onto his own site, which has a huge following in the United States of America.

We are grateful to Matt for striking a deal with blonde to allow this LU to take place. Matt has shown us much warm hospitality, & provided us with sumptous accommodation, more of which later.

Quite what our American friends will make of a blonde Live Update remains to be seen - methinks it is going to be a bit of a culture shock, but hey-ho, we shall see.

So, the message from blonde in Monte Carlo, to Matt Savage's viewers is............

Play begins in 25 minutes, so get the dinner on, then join us for what is going to be one of the great days in poker, with a list of players that reads like a poker Who's Who.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this is going to be the best LU ever?

And Booders beat me to my initial post - wouldn't I love to be a fly on the wall for THAT table!

Good luck to Jen and Tikay with the Updates, and of course the players!

Meds - No, we are OK thank you. We have fiull Profiles for ALL the Bad Beat team, which we will release as we proceed, & will be putting up some pics of them in due course.

Right, off we go.

For this $25,000 to enter jobbie, the players get a 90 minute clock, & 50,000 chips - think about how long I could last with THAT stack & clock!

Now, you will be getting lots & lots of pics of playaers at the table over the next 4 days, but to help you identify their stacks, here's a starting stack.

Pinkies are 5,000, Blue 1,000, Yellow 500, Black 100.

Play has began, and Jen & I are both equipped with cameras. I've got a Nikon ZZ345b (Mark 2) with Zoomy thing, & Jen's got an instamatic, so if you want a pic of any player, or any table, just say, & we will get you the pic right away, we have plenty of room to work here, so let's make the most of it.

OK, who's pic do you want?

Title: Re: Monte Carlo Millions - Live Update - DAY ONE
Post by: Djinn on November 20, 2005, 11:19:26 AM
There are not only empty seats here as people have looked at the structure and gone, "Lie-in!" but up until a minute ago, a whole empty table!  There are plenty of faces you'll recognise, however, and I will snap some in just a few moments.

Early 10-min penalty news now - John Ioannou, thinking everyone had passed to him, showed pocket 10s, which was deemed exposure of hand and he's spending the first minutes of the tournament away from the table.  A bit of a tough start but let's hope it doesn't throw the Gutshot's 'Granite' manager...

Hi friends on Blonde...

There wil be quite intensive coverage from Scandinavia. I hope you dot mind that I posted the link to you into the www.Swedishsanta.com , the site where Bengt Sonnert, Sargon Ruya, Daniel Larsson and Tobias Persson are writing about their gambling experiences (unfortunately in Swedish to a large extent).
There are som 370 members on that site so updates about Bengt and Saron are extremely appreciated.

However I agree with boodereham that the table with Hellmuth and Devilfih is interesting, could be some action with Bengt and Michael Thuritz there as well. Both among the top 10 internet players in  Sweden  :D

Thanks for a great site and interenting updates.
Lassoo

Jen has pitched tent the other end of the Venue (which we will describe shortly) , so we have max coverage.

Here's the table which is right next to my work-station.

Scott Fischman is in the orange, then BadBeats's Conor Tate ("sealey"), Barny Boatman, Marc Goodwin in  the USA Poker apparel, then Mr Burns himself. Sorry the pic is a bit dark. (Though it helps to actually attach the pic.....)

Tell us who you want us to follow - names or whatever -  & consider it done.

Pics of skalie, Phil Ivey, Bengt Sonnert, Michael Thuritz - Jen's trotted off to take the pics.

The Final is on WEDNESDAY at 5pm Local. We have 4 days of play, in one form or another. We will explain what happens each day as soon as we find time.

Here's a rather deserted table 15. The fella in black is none other than ActionJack, in his BadBeat colours, then it's Paul Spillane, of Stan James, I met Paul last night, he's got a story or two to tell, a big mate of Camel's I believe. Then it's Phil Laak in the Hoodie. (Try putting the correct pic up this time tikay....)

Mad Yank Ron Fanelli, as will be featured shortly as part of the Badbeat team, just took a 14k pot from Kathy Liebert holding AJ.  I didn't see the hand play out, but there was word that the first pair appeared on the flop (J) followed by the Ace and he simply called down the 5,000 bet on the river to pick up one of the larger pots of the tournament so far.  Everyone heading in to play had that look that meant "I'm ready for the long haul" and there has been no kamikaze action, even on those tables one might expect it from.

BadBeat - we will try & explain later who they are & what they are about - seems to be getting more than their share of coverage right now, but that's just the way it's panned out. They entered no less than TEN players, at $25,000 a pop! They are NOT a CardRoom.

Here's blondeite & BadBeat-er Iwan Jones - blonde alias oi-oi-saveloy, next to WPT winner & Top Swedish Bloke Martin de Knijff, who's sponsored by a Hair Clinic.

Hi all. Looking forward to following this.

Quick question for everyone.

What table would you like to be on if you had the choice?

I'd go for table 11 with Mike the Mouth and Carlos Mortensen.

Tnx Tikay, was away from the PC for a while - great that you are there and are updating us - great service.
For the fans on the swedishsantas.com (missed the last s bf) reports about Sargon, Bengt and the two other Linköping guys Erik Sagström and Fuat Caan are prioritized but of course reports about any swedes are apppreciated if you have time (you have of course your English guys where your main public is found) but I look forward to reporting from this tournament as the number of participants is quite nice.

Keep up the good work and good luck

Richard Gryko? I did not realise he was here, but if he is, yes, pics will follow.

Chip Counts during Day One early stages - there is a 15 minute break after EACH 90 minute level, during which we will do a FULL CHIP COUNT - every player - & Copy & Paste it onto the full Table List for you.

Two players have already been eliminated, resulting in a bit of a table merge, having broken one.

Antonio Esfandari is out, and currently being interviewed directly behind me by the camera crews perched for just such an eventuality.  Tyrone Zinman I am guessing is also out, as there is a new player residing in his old seat...

Tony G and Kristy Gazes settle in on table 12.  In good spirits yesterday, Tony was pretty focused on winning, as, I would imagine, most of the players here are.  And even when they're out, they're in with a Golden Ticket second chance, so there's everything to play for, twice.

I don't know if Skalie's details have made it on yet, but according to a whirlwind description he gave us in the little tea emporium outside, it's been a story of a flopped straight with Jon holding A3 turning into the full house for the other guy, followed by his own top set being laid down after the turn and river made a total of four spades to his none... and a couple of other hands in similar vein.  Undaunted, he's got over 30,000 still which is an enormous amount of chips in any other tournament, and a fair few in this one.

Undaunted, he's got over 30,000 still which is an enormous amount of chips in any other tournament, and a fair few in this one.

how did he acrue them chips after suffering those beats?

This is as close as I could get to the good ol' feature table, separated from the rest of the ballroom-sized room and featuring at present Bengt Sonnert, Mikael Thuritz (whom I believe you can see), Devilfish, Jan Sorensen, Jennifer Tilly and that sinister black-draped thing that looks like it's in seat 5 but is actually a camera.

Skaie also had AA, & Matey Boy, holding KQ, hit QQ on turn & river!

OK, 15 minute break time, we are off to get chip counts.

These counts were taken while the players were on break, so maybe some of the players have moved seats, as we have broken one table already. Now the players are back, we can check them visually, so apologies if any are wrong or missing, it's tough to keep track of everyone at this stage.

We have, literally, dozens & dozens of pics for you, but right now, we are concentrating on keeping abreast of the tourrney. You gotta keep abreast.

But we went to a champagne reception at The Hermitage last night - 40 or more pics from there, including some weird ones of Devilfish, & some varied ones of Jen. Not in the same pic though. But we snapped ALL the players in their civvies. And a whole heap of pics of Monte Carlo, this is SOME place. And the Harbour. And the view from our Hotel rooms in The Hermitage Hotel, RIGHT overlooking the harbour. Tough game, this updating lark.

We had the good fortune to run into Mr. Mikael Thuritz in the hallway a minute ago, who gave us a sneaky peek into the action on the feature table:

He has around 45k
Jennifer Tilly    55k
David Oppenheim  5k
Devilfish            50k

And probably chip leader is one Bengt Sonnert, who Mikael said had "just shy of 100,000"!

Andy Black has been finding Aces, but finding them not as good as advertised - a big pot developed between him and the players to either side of him (Emile Nijmeh and Morten Lassen) who held AK and QQ respectively.

What, do you imagine, happened on a  Ts Jh Qd flop?  Andy got out of the way, and when another  Th appeared on the turn it signaled a huge win for Morten and the AK knocked down his opponent's stack nearly to the felt.

I should explain to our regular members that the blonde Live Update is being taken "as is" by the official Monte Carlo Millions website, which has huge traffic in the US of A, so we are giving our American friends plenty of coverage this week. I will try & find the site address of the Oficial MMC site for you shortly, unless one of you has it to hand. As you know, blonde, & in particular myself, have always been very supportive of our special friends in America, both on blonde, & on Poker 425. Ahem.

OK, this one is almost worthy of a Caption Comp. Here we have Mr Lederer making a point to Mr Hellmuth. For the benefit of American viewers, the geezer in the front of the pic is Mr Paul ActionJack Jackson, one of THE greatest online players ever ever ever. As you can see, he really enjoyed the company of Phil Hellmuth, though to be fair, this is about as happy as Paul ever gets. Note how close together his eyebrows are - you can't trust a guy with eyebrows that close, believe me.

Oh commiserations to El Blondie whose luck just isn't forthcoming at present...

Counts coming for all those who have had interest expressed in them pending the next table-vacating break.  On the way back to my computer I noticed that Iwan Jones is around 100k, joining the Diamond Diamadis Diamadidis and Bengt Sonnert at the top of the chip table.

And John 'Granite' Ioannou with Mrs. Granite and Artie.  Mrs. Granite (aka The Dish) says that she's rooting for the 'little guys' and would be happy for a qualifier to win the big prize as she just naturally supports the underdog.  After John, of course.

Dave & I are guests of Achileas this week, on his rather splendid yacht, along with Michael Greco & Andy Pyrah.  A big thanks to Achilleas, who really is a magnificent host, & has been very kind to me, in particular. Top Bloke. If he ever needs a few bob, he only has to ask. Meanwhile, poor Jen is slumming it in the 7 Star Hermitage Hotel, with a balcony view overlooking the Harbour. Our thanks to Matt Savage & the Monte Carlo Millions peeps for looking after blonde so well.

The Devilfish and Phil Hellmuth have been on the same table since the beginning (now moved off the Feature so full counts coming) and there have been verbal fireworks of a quiet but pointed nature.  Just now Phil's  Kd Ks took out David Oppenheir's  Ac Kc with the addition of a flopped  Kh.  Mr. Ulliott just couldn't keep quiet, saying "Does this Phil catch the deck, or what?" which despite Phil's headphones got through and got them biting a bit at each other.

Yes, full chip counts, or as full as we can get them, quite soon. Players are moving from table to table, but the bigger stacks are starting to energe, so hopefully we can give you all the ones that matter.

Here's Prima's Joe Beevers telliing partner Ross Boatman of a really narrow escape Joe just had.

Joe had  Ts Th, on a flop of  Ks Kh Td.

Nice.

Turn came  Js.

Matey boy, to his left, was sat with  Kd Jh........

Somehow, Joe got away from the hand without incurring too much pain.

OK db, we are off to find those guys for you. Better than the Monte Carlo Millions website? - actually, as far as I know, it's just about the same thing, as we are priveleged to have contracted to supply them our Live Update on this occasion, hence we are giving the American guys more coverage than usual.

And no, no pics of the Yacht, I'm afraid. We are private guests, & it's sorta "not done" to publish pics of the yacht, I'm afraid. It's a bit nice though, I can tell you! You are right though, I'd love to!

Now, Michael Greco, is down to the felt.

Barny Boatman, talking 13 to the dozen, is up to 60k after a shaky start.

Achilleas Kalakkis has 35k, & Robert Cooper 66k.

Here's blondeite Harry Demetriou, seemingly singing. Stick to poker Harry, trust me.

For anyone wondering how Ron 'Mad Yank' Fanelli doubled up - it was against Ted Forrest.  They saw a flop of  7s  3d 4h.  Immediately, Ron moved in for the full 45k, and eventually Ted called with  8d 8c.  Ron had  3h 3s, however and that looks to have tilted him a bit as he was out within five hands from that point... and Ron is the second badbeat player to make it up to 100k, or very close.

Yes, we play 7 x 90 minute levels today, with a 15 minute break between each, & a 90 minute break for dinner.

We can't seem to get these BadBeat boys out of the frame here, they keep featuring. It seems like we are spamming them, but they are not a cardroom, & we don't do spam, it's just the way it's panned out. They do, after all, comprise nearly 10% of the field. Think of that - $250,000 invested! Here's a bunch of their pesky boys - can you name them?

Al Ardebili gets a bit of a lucky double-up with  Ad  Tc vs  Asp Qs, catching two tens on the flop.  Although there was a hefty draw for his opponent on the turn, nothing came and he gets back in the running.

Counts from another sector:

Martin De Knijff  44k
Patrick Bruel      25k (he was part of the Prima press conference earlier this morning and spoke rather charmingly, I thought)
Barny Boatman  38k (who also spoke this morning in the lineup)
Tyrone Zinman  60k
John Ioannou    75k
Jani Sointula      20k (after a triple up with  8h 4h which flushed against two opponenets)
Richard Gryko    77k
Scott Fischman  48k
Phil Ivey           116k
John Juanda      94k
Ross Boatman    52k
Patrik Antonius  20k
Mads Andersen  84k
Jon Kalmar 'Skalie'  55k
Paul Jackson      48k
John Kabbaj       50k
Conor Tate        46k
Joe Beevers       38k

Marc Goodwin (from birmingham) now has 130,000 chips and is looking good (pin stripe suite, sunglasses, nice shirt...)
abd for those who hate bad beat stories switch off now.

I had 48,000 chips and had not plaed many hands. Marc had reached about 85,000 and had started well.
The first hand back after the second break, the big blind had not returned.
marc doubled the big blind (800) on the cut off
I raised to 2000 on the button with A10 clubs.
The flop came A10 6 off suit and mark checked
I thought an overbet of 10,000 might spark a reaction ( Marc isnt a great thief so I may not get any action from a check if he had no hand)
Marc sighed (and I was sure I was ahead)...and then he moved all-in
I really didnt fancy him for trip 6s after the sigh, so I eventually put my remaining 36,000 in
Marc wasn't happy and rolled over AK
tikay turned his back and pretended he wasn't there but it was no good. He had bokked me, and a heart breaking King fell on the river.

tikay and Jen have wandered off for a pot of tea (their first break today) and left me in charge...as a punishment for my early exit ..

Mad Yank is still in, Gus Hansen is still...I will try and get some chip counts

112 players started...there are now 91 left..th exit door are just beginning to turn...I predict that the next level will get them moving properly.
The 50,000 chips provides a wonderful structure for playing poker, and it is very difficult to get them all-in before the flop. Flops have to be played and the players are being tested.

Ok I had a quick wander around the tables (to my embarassment)They all stared at me !

Gus hansen is on the TV table and I can't get close. He looks like he has over 100,000
Ken Lennard is struggling and looking a bit down. he has about 27,000

Harry Demitriou (blondite) with QQ takes out Andy 'WSOP final table' Black with JJ

Iwan Jones 90,000 diolch yn fawr
Bangt Sonnet around 150k
Mike 'the mouth' Matusow has informed the whole room he has exactly 128,000
Fuat is also doing well with 125,000

For perpesctive, the average stack is now just over 60,000

Just to clarify in case this tidbit of information is buried somewhere earlier... the out people are heading back for a Consolation Tournament on Tuesday, the top prize of which is an unprecedented re-entry into the tourney final table with 10 big blinds, thus guaranteeing themselves $100,000!  This Golden Ticket idea is pretty interesting, and will keep the players on their toes for one more shot at it...

Joining the list of Out people, in case the boss hasn't covered them already:

Martin de Knijff
Patrick Bruel

And Phil Hellmuth seems to be working himself up (and kind of enjoying it) folding theatrically while saying stuff like: "I'll be quiet when I feel like it, how about that?" and other such.  He is within ranting distance of Matusow.  Bit of a change from the old EPT, eh?

Jason Dollinger, an internet qualifier here on a $6 ticket, with his borhter and terror in his eyes, wins a nice pot.

Nijmeh has top set but Jason is on a straight draw.

The turn  gives himn the straight and his money goes in. Nijmeh calls.

The river  does Emile no good. Dollinger, from Florida, looking at ease now on 100,000.

HD and PL say they go broke on the turn.

Achilleas 60k , Robert Cooper 80k
Robert got off to a flier...he was the only player at his table for the first 6 hands and collected a 1200 bonus head start

His blondeness will be back soon, no doubt fortified with smoked salmon or sushi (He needs all the brain food he can get)

Untill then, talk amoung yourselves or ask me a question, anything you like, if I don't know I have Mrs Red here and she knows everything

Why do Blondes have more fun?

Because they are too dumb to realise how much trouble I can get them into

did you get that ...Michael Greco, acting?
talking of actors...both Boatman Brothers go out with Aces
Barney against 4,5...Ross against 89
talking about Aces going down...
Mr Cool  8) Marc Goodwin (our chip leader) has given me the run down on the huge pot with bad Beat guy Conner Tate
Connor made it 3,000 before the flop and Mark called
Conner led out 5,000 on the flop which was 10,000
Marc went 5,000 with another 7,000 to 'give Connor opportunity to hang himself'
Connor duly obliged by moving in his whole stack of 60,000
and Mr Cool  8) ...pushed his chips in, and sat back looking cool for the cameras

The golden ticket is the re-entry into the final table of the winner of Tuesday's consolation tournament... two shots at it for the price of one.

We are back after that rather sudden ejection from the halls which meant sadly no access during the break even for the noble purpose of chip counting so we're just off to do it the hard way... back after a circuit.

Incidentally, just ran into Richard Gryko: as we came up he was running down having noticed as he sat back down that he'd left his sunglasses in the restaurant.  At least he's got his priorities right - the blinds are an hour and a half a level but who knows how long a nice pair of glasses is going to last lying on a table somewhere.

Harry Demetriou has just busted out in 77th spot. And he owes Phil Laak $20,000 for a Last Longer. (Fancy one of those Trace?).

Bengt Sonnert is absolutely MURDERING his table, he's up to 280k & it's Raise, Raise, Raise. Nobody can stop him, he can bust them all in one hand.

Meanwhile, on the same table, Phil Hellmuth is in mega-Tilt Mode. Snarling & growling & rising to bait from everyone. Players on adjacent tables are winding him up, passing dogs are winding him up, a ship's captain in the Med is winding him up. How on EARTH can such an experienced player be so mentaly fragile?

Out in 76th is Richard Redmond, whose button Kh Kd saw a flop with one other mid-position guy.  The flop was  Jh 7c Qc; Richard bet 10k, call.  The turn was the  2c, and he was check-raised all-in for the rest of his stack only to find  3c 6c against him.  The river was the  Ks just to rub it in, and he joins the quickly growing queue for the Consolation tournament.

Just thought I'd add that the battery in my camera has gone and it's one of those rechargable thingies with no charger in the country, so it's up to Tikay the photographer to bring you the visuals.

Well you can have pics, or Updates, but it's hard to do both. Up to you guys, I have dozens more pics to put up yet if you want em, & Jen can do the chip counts & hand jobbies.

 Meanwhile, at the tables......

The Feature "TV" Table is a real corker. Tony G, Phil Ivey, Matusow (in full flow), skalie, Nik Persuad (?), the funny little chappie from Gutshot who hangs around Scott Fischman, he can talk too.

Title: Re: Monte Carlo Millions - Live Update - DAY ONE
Post by: Djinn on November 20, 2005, 07:57:02 PM
I am sure Phil Laak would be winding Mr. Hellmuth up too, as he's definitely the strangest person on his table.  The K9 destroyer of Demetriou was involved in a hand with him (which Laak won) which involved a lengthy rather cyclic conversation:

Laak "I'm nervous.  I'm probably not gonna talk for the rest of the hand."
Alex Jagodik (I think): "It's better than K9 this time."
"I'm not talking anymore."
"Are you calling?"
"That's it."  And the hood comes up and zips up; his opponent passes and it all begins again...

Paul Spillane, Stan James Head Honcho, (he's a Rock - lives in Gibralter) just got AA & found an all-in merchant with 88. Naturally, an 8 fell (no point reporting it otherwise) & Paul's brief dream of a 220k stack becomes a merely healthy 80k stack.

Poker as played by some of the American guys, becomes more like the WWF Wrestling farce every day. Phil Laak makes every hand a three-act play. Talking, baiting, clowning, jibes, mocking, acting, the whole works, every hand. Funny, entertaining, absorbinb. But pure poker is better. Give me pure poker every day.

Laak just got involved in a hand that musta taken fully 15 minutes. He asked the Dealer if he could show me his hand, & let me decide if he should call Matey Boy's all-in 13k in a 80k pot. Thankfully, the dealer said "no way", though the players said it would be OK.

Eventually, after an age of verbal sparring, Phil Laak says "I call, but I'm not gonna turn my hand over, I'm too embarrassed". TD is summoned, "you MUST turn it over".

"I just hope you have AK, I KNOW you have AK says Laak".

The flop was....

 Jh 8d 2d

Matey Boy turns over  8s 5h

Laak still won't turn his cards over. Matey Boy says "don't be slow-rolling me you *******".

More theatricals from Mr Laak, then, at last, he reveals his hand.  8c 5d

And the 90k+ pot is split. Extraordinary. I don't approve of all this horsing around, but boy of boy, he can't 'arf play poker. Eight bloody Five on a J high flop!

Erik Seidel is OUT - short-stacked Seidel was all-in on a  Kh 7h 2h flop with  Kd 9c, but Scott Fischman had flopped the flush, holding  Jh 8h and with no help on the turn he was drawing dead, and then out.

Great Jatinder Singh story now (with pic coming from Tikay):

He played a hand rather beautifully against non-stop talker Phil Laak who was clearly not too impressed with Jatinder, chatting his ear off while he just calmly sat there holding AQ on what ended up being a Q 5 7 2 8 board.  Jatinder checked the river and after a five minute speech which included "don't do it kid, think about your family," and "OK Mr. Bet365, you gonna check to raise me, or just check?" Phil Laak bet putting his opponent all-in on the river, which he called to double up.

Hellmuth is getting himself into a right lather.

He loses a big pot to Johan Storakers. Johan has AQ & has flopped both, so Mr Helmuth goes off on one big time.

"You guys are the worst players I have ever seen. You play with AQ, & I throw AK away like it's pure garbage. And you WIN with AQ - this is ridiculous, you boys get lucky, & I get skilful, & you beat me with that heap of crap.....". Steady Phil, this is blonde, you know the rules.

OFFICIAL CORRECTION.

It turns out that Jen got it all wrong. Gus Hansens nephew is a girlie, it seems, not a boy. I don't think we ever said it was a boy, as it happens. How peeps kopw it's a girl or a boy from the clothes is a mystery to me. I've got a plum jacket - what does that make me? (Other than well-dressed?).

Here's the little sweetie again. Has to be said, he/she/it's really lovely.

"With around 70 players left tables are beginning to scare. Big names sit side by side, along with the few qualifiers left and the pro's looking for luck.

The TV table alone will test the watershead, with Mike Matusow, Tony G, Phil Ivey and Nick Persaud fighting for TV rights.

We're playing till midnight or 36 left." (From Gutshot reporting)

Seem to be a tough objective?

Gus Hansen has 13k. Phil Ivey is on the feature table, so we are struggling to get his count. Bengt Sonnert has 190k.

Meanwhile, Phil Hellmuth, sat to the immediate right of Gus Hansen, is doing his Ariston impression. Drone, drone, drone....... "People call me - they just do, I don't know why. Maybe they can't believe just how good I am. It puts me at a disadvantage, being so much better than you guys, because you just can't believe I have the goods every time. And I knew - I KNEW - he had AJ, & I just could not believe he turned over AQ - how can he play AQ like that, how the hell am I expected to read THAT play?".........

I am afraid it's one more down for the bad beats - John Conroy moved all-in with  Jh Jc against  Td Qd.
Flop:  9d Ah Tc
Turn:  Qh
River:  9h sending him out in 66th place.

And on the table right next to me, Marc Goodwin & Chris Jesus Ferguson are sitting there playing great poker. Quiet as lambs. Ever ready to smile, but you'd not know they were there. At the other end of the same table, Scott Fischman & Gavin are vying for the World Boorish Championship. But after this confrontation, it's a bit quieter, as one of them has departed in high dudgeon.

Flop comes  Kh 3s 4s

ALL the chips go in. Gavin turns over  Kd Jc

Scott turns over  5s 6s

Before the dealer shows the turn, we have a 3 minute delay, while the guys haggle over a saver. "5%?". "No, 3%". "OK".

Turn is the  Jd

River is the..... 2c

Gavin "you called me all-in with SIX HIGH?".......

Scott - "You limped with K-J?"..

Gavin - "You suck Fischmann".

Blackpool will never seem quite the same, ever again. Thank the Lord for Blackpool.

Was Sealey unlucky? He put the vast majority of his chips in when he was a huge dog on a 2 card draw ? A nasty coupe to deal with...but not really unlucky.

More of Bengt's table - just Gus Hansen not shown now, & we've seen 3 pics of his nephew already, so that's enough for the Hansens today.  Here's Johan Storakers, Hoody Man, & Phil Hellmuth.

Hellmuth has now moved to Marc Goodwin & Scott Fischman's table, & is busy telling them what a load of fish there were on his previous table. Nice.

Meanwhile, Gavin Smith is heckling him big time, as well as Chris Ferguson. "Chris, I promised not to have another drink until you played another hand, & I've nearly sobedred up, do me a favour, play a hand - just one hand. PLEASE"........

Right. Play ends in 6 minutes. We have been warned that we will be removed from the Arena as soon as play finishes. BUT.......  we WILL be given FULL CHIP COUNTS - EVERY PLAYER - as soon as the bagging up is done.

So we are gonna get out of the Arena & set ourselves up in the Cafeteria, to await the Chip Counts. Meanwhile, the pics & stories will continue whilst we wait for rthe chip counts. We still have LOADS of stuff for you.

Yes, they've been really very good here about the lists and the table numbers etc. and we're hoping that everything comes in a nice, seat ordered, navigable tomorrow kind of format.  But we'll wait for the to-the-chip counts before trying to tell you who's finished where.  Although I reckon Marc Goodwin is finishing at or near the top.

Hoorah for sixpac and thanks audience - there has been a great online atmosphere and I think it will only get more exciting tomorrow...

Any minute now those precious counts in electronic form are heading this way, and I'm heading to bed.  I think Tikay might be heading for more single table action, or perhaps he'll be sensible and go to sleep.  He is at the moment wrapping up the day with some kind of interview (a celebrity's work is never done) about the ups and downs of the day's play with regard to the main players etc etc.

Sorry, counts were made available, but in Excel which my laptop doesn't seem to be able to convert, so we're getting emailed a word document... just a matter of minutes now, honest.

Good luck to 'Granite' John Ioannou, cardroom manager at the Gutshot club - a really nice guy, who I hope does well.

However, from a more selfish perspective, go go Fuat Can who, thanks to Nemesis, is carrying the hopes of £10 of my 'hard earned' money. Let's see if the current run of useless Blondepoker betting tips is broken.

Also Tikay and Jen, say hello to Dan Furnival, who is assisting Matt Savage in tournament directing (he's the guy stood behind Phil Laak in the photo where Phil is going a bit mental at the camera). Dan's done a bit of male modelling in the past and I understand that he's currently adorning the walls of Tesco modelling jumpers - you could make TraceT and JustJo happy by posting a photo of him...
