Title: Computer Back Up Help
Post by: Laxie on November 08, 2008, 01:57:42 PM
My Mom bought a portable Western Digital Hard Drive (called 'my book').  She wants to back up her computer (Windows XP) on to the portable, but it came with no software to complete the task.  She's tried Acronis and it was a disaster, so she's returned that one.  Told her I'd ask you lot for her.  Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

I don't know if this is the same thing, but I backed up my impotrant stuff, (music, pics and documents) to an 8 gig memory stick. I just dragged and dropped.

I did the same (copy/paste) all my stuff on to an external hard drive too.  Reminds me, I must do it again soon!

She knows how to do the drag and drop thing for photos and the like.  Pretty sure she was looking to back up her entire system though...and that would take ages dragging and dropping things.  lol

Have sent her the link posted above and will see how she gets on with it.  Cheers!   ;)
