Title: Stake Amatay in the Caribbean :-)
Post by: Amatay on November 12, 2008, 01:40:58 PM
Right here it goes.... gulp.

As some of you know i was lucky enough to be invited onto the CPC by a friend this year however i obv need to buyin direct into the tourns because i didnt qualify. During this time i am looking for some backing to help buy me into some of the tourns on the trip, a $440 FO a $550 and a $1100FO. Here is the full schedule...
http://www.caribbeanpokerclassic.com/details.html

Why should you stake me...

I have been playing poker for 4 yrs and in that time made about $160k profit and have been playing poker for a living since Jan. I am an above average fish online and i have now made $20k profit from MTT's alone since reverting from cash games to tournaments in early Sept of this year. Here is my OPR stats on PP...
http://www.officialpokerrankings.com/partypoker/STUP1D_F1SH/poker/results/B9C21ECE84D34AAC9788768CE23081FA.html?t=2
I also play a fair amount of mtt's on ipoker and have made good money there. Here are my FTP stats but i rarely play there tbh its mainly stats from SnGays...
http://www.officialpokerrankings.com/fulltiltpoker/amatay/poker/results/74C689D18332468CBBAEF625FDBB9871.html?t=2

What about my live experience???
Well, i wont bullshiz you and these tourns will be the biggest buyin games i have ever played live poker in
My live game achievements include finishing 2nd in a televised Late Night Poker Ace heat a few years back reaching the Semi final. I have also played in and won/cashed in numerous other live games at Luton, Brighton, London Vic, Equal Chance, The Gutshot Club, Las Vegas (Bellagio, Planet HollyWood, Caesars) and my local Rilays club and I have also played a ton of home games etc etc.

So the total i need is $2100.

I am thinking of selling blocks of $210 which is obv 10% of the total i need. For your stake you will recieve 5.5% of any profit plus stake back.

Let me know here if you are interested either here or via pm and we will sort something out.
I understand that this is more of a punt because its only 3 tourn but i usually run good even thou i got [censored] robbed yesterday for £5.5k from online fraud which is partly the reason for me asking to be staked cause all my other monies is kinda tied up atm.

Cheers

Flame away....

If you have seriously sold 30% then fair play, if not il buy the whole lot, and you can have 35% of profits after all buyins added together. The rate you are selling is ridiculous imo. If you are interested Flushy will point me out to you

Excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject, can you explain why the deal is ridic? I have no experience of staking or being staked, and am interested in what is regarded as a standard agreement or a fair deal in this situation?

So based on your offer, a standard/fair price for this kind of deal is roughly 1.5 - 1??

Is a fair price not circa 1-1?  You are paying 10% of the entries, you'd want 10% of the money surely?

That would mean Amatay playiing for nothing - I guess 1-1 would be fair if he was only selling half of himself??

You would if the player was of an even skill level to the rest of the field.

If a player can back up that they have a significant edge then they can fairly charge a premium

True, I thought he was only selling half.  Anyway, it's none of my business :D

Good luck Amatay :)

Question that has bothered me for some time...

In this instance, Amatay is offering stake back first.
So if he gets 8th or something in the $400 comp for $2000, and busts the other two he makes nowt and stakers get all the money.

How would one factor this into comparisom from someone who was offering to sell at 1.3 with no such stake back first stipulation?

Sigh, i guess i never realised i was offering a high rate as i have never really done this stuff before but thought id give it ago anyways. I had one offer from one Blonde who prolly wont ship me the $$$ now having read this and three poor 'mugs' elsewhere who have brought at total of 25% at my redic rate. I might even send them their money back tbh as i feel kinda bad.

Dubai mentioned he may buy the lot for a 65-35% deal which i would gladly accept if not i guess i'll scape some pennies together somehow.

Its all good, no problem i just feel like abit of a tit now lol  ;marks; ;ashamed;

Amatay is keeping 45% of any profit and giving the stakers 55% of any profit after the stakes have been deducted and returned.

Over a short period there may be quite a risk you'll get nowt but it doesn't seem like a rip off.

Check out the online staking and you'll see similar deals sometimes it's even 50/50 after stakeback.

Apologies Amatay if I contributed to this going pear shaped... I actually thought your original deal sounded about right.. based on some of the online staking deals, but have no experience of staking either...

Hope you get to play the comps... If I was in a pos to stake you I gladly would

60/40 after stake sometimes. But these are long term deals not 3/4 tourneys!
