Title: BlueSq.com GUKPT Blackpool: Day 1B
Post by: NoflopsHomer on November 14, 2008, 01:47:07 AM
Yay, we're still in Blackpool!!! Everything here is seemingly shut!!! Yay!!! Jen and I went past a McDonalds and a Pizza Hut at lunchtime and they hadn't even opened!!! Yay!!!!

We're expecting it to be busy today. 165 have already bought in, could we break the 200 mark? It's certainly possible. We'll be back from 2pm tomorrow, get on here and let us know who you're supporting, or if you're playing, or, if you're Kev, what kind of cat pictures you'd like to see today.

Chip counts from Day 1A to follow.

It does look like the card room is going to be operating at capacity today, with players cooperatively taking their seats for an earlier start than yesterday.  Any minute now they'll shuffle up and deal to a more boisterous full house.

Among others we've got:

Katharine Hartree
John Conroy
Henning Granstad
Ali Mallu
Pete Singleton
Nick Slade
Julian Thew
Sam Trickett
Praz Bansi

One of these two could have been in contention for First Exit just now - on the left Nathan Lee, the right Jason Trey.  With 2,275 in the pot, first to act Lee had bet 2,200 on a flop of Kc 2c 7d only to find bespectacled Trey moving all in.  A dwell ensued, pictured here, with traditional Consideration Poses being struck with aplomb.  Finally Lee passed, with the rest of the table unsurprisingly calling for Trey to "show the bluff."  He declined.

Pete (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=346) Singleton (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=346) has lost a couple of thousand, folding to a bet on the river of a 3s Qc Ts Js 4s board, Rob Cowen trying to show me, but not the table the Aspades Qs that he had in his hand.

Here he is on the left of Stu Rutter, who is fairly happy with his table, which is displaying a fair number of slightly strange hands - like when a backdoor flush hit a raggy paired board and the three players in for the river all checked - the guy with the flush, trips and the small FH!

It never seems to be too early in the day for Mad Marty (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978) Wilson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978) to chat.  His table might be somewhat unresponsive, but the irrepressible MMW is already on a roll.  Here's just a snapshot of what I overheard on the first pass - like tuning in to a weird radio station for a minute or so...

"...honey comes from bees.  You can ask me what I had for tea on a Wednesday in 1973 and I'll tell you."  [pause for breath]
Jon Raab interjects, laughing, "Cause you always have the same thing on a Wednesday."

"The Finnish are the greatest nation for eating meat in the world."
"Tell them the polar bear story!" asks John Conroy (from the relative safety of the next table along)...

A lot slower than yesterday, only a couple of exits so far. Javed Abrahams apparently eliminating Om Aggarwal and Peter Seager in the same hand to make him the early chip leader with 30k.

Slight hilarity as it goes check/check after on the river between Paul Moss and Ben Middleton on a T-9-3-6-4 board. Moss shows 7-4off and wins, Middleton looks perplexed. The table giggles.

Paul Bracken, last year's winner here wouldn't mind a repeat performance.

Here we have pictured Melanie Bowden, about to eliminate one of the two players in the hand with her (I'll leave out which one until the end to create suspense...).  A standard raised pot preflop became a monster after the 5h 7c 6h flop.  Small blind Melanie checked, Chris (whose nickname appears on our list as 'Spuddy D' for some reason) Flint bet 600.  Button Mark (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=259) Blandford (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=259) raised to a chunky 2,400.  Melanie then reraised to 4,800.

Flint went into the tank.  What amounts to a check-min-re-raise must be the strongest move in the book.  Whatever he folded, he didn't want to do it very much.  But Blandford quickly moved all in, called just as fast by Bowden.

She showed:  8d 9c
He showed: 3c 4c

He was drawing dead in a heartbeat and left the tournament mid level two.

This moodily-lit chap is Alex Regler.  I don't know why one in about 20 photos I take ends up looking like a film noir soliloquy.  Whatever, he just won a nice pot off Andrew Chambi like so...

Regler on the button must have raised preflop, and been repopped by early position Chambi - when I arrived at the table he was in the process of throwing in 2,500 as a call.

Flop:  7s Jc 8h.  Chambi bet out 2,000.  Call.
Turn: Ahrt  Now Chambi checked, Regler fired 2,500.  With only the most cursory of annoyed dwells, Chambi threw away his hand - Kc Kd - face up.
Regler turned the knife, showing him Qc Qh but Chambi just tapped the table.

Yes.  No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service, like they say above the counter in lots of fast food outlets in Southern California...

But trainers are OK. ;)

Jeff Kimber agreed to write a few interesting hands from his table at the start of the day and has just handed me the paper.

"How to valuetown yourself...

Pass to button, limps for 50, sb 150, me (K-J) in bb call 150, button call.

Flop K-4-2, sb bets 350, I call, button fold.

Turn 2. sb check, I bet 500, he calls.

River J, so now sure I win, sb check, I bet 600, he calls, I flip 'em, I expect him to show A-K, K-Q or maybe Q-Q type hand, he shows A-A, I sigh and muck."

Mad Marty, "You know Finland eats more meat per person than any other country in the world?"

His table are now taking bets on what is the smallest county in the UK...

Rutland, iirc.

No, it's the Isle of Wight. You lose.

So do you, it's Blackpool.

So do you it's Blackpool and Fylde :)

Just about to leave the warmth of my flat in order to join in with the poker festivities up north.

Do they make you wear shoes at the G Casino, Blackpool?

Yes.  No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service, like they say above the counter in lots of fast food outlets in Southern California...

But trainers are OK. ;)

How about fuchsia ones? Do they discriminate against colour?

Doesn't make much sense to me. You can wear trainers at Blackpool, but the same casino in Luton is black tie and they check the polish on your shoes before you go in.

Double through for Jake Cody just now courtesy of Paul Moss... it occurred mainly on the river, with the pot just over the 4,050 which Cody had bet (all in) at this point.

The board stood 6d 5h 9h Ts Jc.  "You got me beat?" queried Moss as he considered calling the final bet.  That's the sort of question where the only true answer is: "Well, I hope I do, and you call.  And if I don't fold fold fold fold...."

Eventually he made the call.  He was shown Td Th, and mucked, nodding.

Not suprised she's cheerful, as the dealer has stopped talking. He dealt out table yesterday for a bit.
He had more table banter than Roberto Romenello and Barry Neville combined.

Stuart Rutter has doubled up through Robert Boon. Rutter raised to 550 in the hijack, Boon reraised to 1,650. Rutter bumped it another 3,000 and Boon moved in. Rutter snapped with Aspades Ad, Boon flipped Qd Qs.

6c 4s 2h 5h 4c

Rutter up to 20k.

This could have been a giant pot, had anyone in it had over 10k to start with... a cold-decker of sizeable proportions, with a result which opened even my jaded eye somewhat...

Threeway all-in pre:

Sid Harris: Qh Qd
E. Lundun: Kc Kd
Katharine Hartree: Aspades Ac

Flop: Qs 9h Kh  Not looking good for the black Aces...
Turn: 2h
River: Th

Sid scoops the lot (but as the shortest stack busts no one) with the flush:

Lundun's (young guy in white) Kings take the side:

Hartree shrugs and carries on with the game:

Jeff Kimber writes...

"Sam [trickett] knocked Rob Sherwood out pretty horribly. Sam raises UTG to 400, guy with 2,000 totall calls. Button call, Rob in BB makes it 1,700. (Looks squeezy but can't be as short stack can't pass if folded back to him). Sam reraises again to 3,500, shorty thinks, eventually folds his small pair (he says), Rob all-in, Sam has to call.

Rob has Q-Q, Sam (says we have history and he never noticed shorty) A-J...turn ace..."

The happy-looking guy in white (Mark Jones) next to a beardy Jerome Bradpiece just doubled up from a very short stack to a short-ish stack, with some weird river betting to finish it off.

The board had a pair of Eights on it, and some cards there or thereabouts which could be straightened.  The pot had reached the giddy heights of 11k, but when Harry Zammit checked to Jones he threw in a minbet - 300.  I quickly doublechecked the pot size, while Zammit check-raised to 1,000.  Curiouser and curiouser - this made a lot more sense when I moved round the table a little bit and saw that Jones only had 1k behind for the final betting round anyway.

"It's now or never," he said, quite rightly, and was rewarded with his Aspades 8s for trips still being good.

Not too much to report for Praz Bansi or Julian Thew.

Praz has a meagre 2,700. "I have them right where I want them," he warns, "They'll never see it coming..." He then admitted he 'value-owned myself with a straight vs a flush.'

Julian is steadier on 10,000. "I'm just grinding, a whole new level of weak-tightness."

Jorgen Kjerkol busts to Rob Cowen... having reached the turn button vs. bb (Cowen) the board read 6c 4h Qc 3s.  Cowen bet out around 2,000, and Kjerkol moved all in for a further 5,600.  Not a chunk which would be negligible to Cowen.  He queried himself, "Flopped a set?" before clearly deciding this wasn't the case and calling with Kd Qh.  Kjerkol only had 7c 7h and no hit later we're down another player.

Stu Rutter has written down a few hands, the most interesting involving Rob Cowen,

"A late position limps, SB completes, aggressive kid in the 2 seat, makes it 425, both call. Board A-8-6, check check, 8-seat bets 1,600. Rob Cowen in the 2 seat calls. Turn A-8-6-3, check check.

River A-8-6-3-A. The kid bets 1,500. 8-seat counts chips to raise, dwells nad eventually passes. Cowen shows 9-7o.

Cown raises to 600, 7-seat calls, flop 8-4-3. Cown bets 1,100. Reraise to 3,200. All-in for 5,500 more from Cowen. 7-seat calls with T-T, Cowen has K-K. Board runs out 8-4-3-6-J

Rob Cowen over 20k, 7-seat out..."

Players are now restarting.

Rob Taylor has had an up and down day, first losing a 10k pot K-K to Nicky Romanello's A-K. Ace on the flop and on the turn.

He then had Queens vs Sam Trickett's K-9 to double back up to 6k.

GUKPT former winners update:

Praz Bansi -- OUT, check/raised all-in with Ac 2c on a J-7-4 two club board. Snap-called by Lorna Lancaster's 5-5.

Julian Thew -- OUT, pushed with 8h 7h, ran into Queens. Couldn't win the (for him) coinflip.

Jeff Kimber -- Shortish, struggling along with about 4k.

Sam Trickett -- Equally short, these two are on the same table and will be making moves soon.

Paul Bracken -- Going solidly along with about 16k.

Garinder Purewal is out, he held Aspades Qs on a Ac 9s Jc board against Nathan Lee's Royal Flush drawing Kc Qc. No club, but the Td on the turn left the DTD £300 chopper from last month needing a King to survive. Another Th on the river he was gone.

Matthew Buckland bets 3k on the turn of a 2h Th 3c 2d board.  Rob Cowen slaps down a stack of 20 500 chips before telling his opponent, I think you have enough to pass, you have something like Eights or Nines. Buckland thinks for about 30 seconds before calling, Cowen frowns and flips over Qd Tc, but then says, "Jeez, you're slowrolling me!" when Buckland turns over Kh Kd. No Ten on the river and Buckland doubles up to about 20k.

Feeling very kindly towards Stu Rutter for heading to the bar on our behalf during this first break, I wasn't going to post a looky-likey of him and Roger the alien from American Dad in a tea-cosy hat.  I just thought I'd put the image in your minds instead.

ah... so this is the new headgear now that I've stolen his scarf.

i preferred the scarf, though stu looks pretty happy with the new hat.

go stu!

James Akenhead has a had a mini-rush, he knocked out one player with Kings vs Ace Queen before now just eliminating Geoffrey Sharpe whose A-T was blunted by Akenhead's K-Q when the latter caught a Queen on the river.

Here's James, utterly enthralled by how it's gone over the last half hour.

Petter Jidne, who if you saw and didn't know his name, you'd still assume he was a Scandie as he's the blondest person in the room, has just doubled up with that old chesnut Q-Q vs Salim Jangarwala's A-K. I've got to say, I've seen about nine or ten Q-Q vs A-K races yesterday and today, and I've yet to see A-K win a single one. I have seen A-K vs K-K twice and Kings lost both times.

Another £10/£25 cash game has been started by Neil (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=302) Channing (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=302) and Martyn (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) Cavanagh (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270), it's only four-handed at the moment but already drawing a crowd.

Earlier Channing was chatting briefly about all the people he backs and jokingly referred to them all as 'his children' which made me think he was like 'The Big Lebowski' from "The Big Lebowski". He just needs the t-shirts...

Brand new game for you which I'm calling "Scandielous"

How many of the following are real life actual non-fake Scandies, and which ones are they?

Zahir Aslam, former Grosvenor Grand Prix winner has won a big pot from James Mitchell. After some considerable raising, reraising, all-in-ing and calling all-in-ing, the cards were on their backs with 'Zippy' holding Aces to Mitchell's Queens. A blank board later helps out neither and Aslam scoops a 37k pot.

£15k pot in the cash game just won by Richard Wheatley apparently.

Stuart Rutter, "I'm not playing very well, but everyone else is playing worse! I bet every street of an A-K-K-Q-3 board where the 3rd club came on the river with A-K and he still called me with A-J!"

No he went out a while ago I'm afraid. He's in the big cash game with Channing, Praz and Henning Granstad.

Richard Buck is pursing his lips for a very good reason, he was just all-in in a decent pot against Mark Redshaw with Aspades Ac against Jc Ts, the board coming 6h Td Th 4d........Ahrt

Redshaw let out a rueful smile as though he knew what the river was going to be. Buck actually had Redshaw covered and the latter was eliminated.

Paul Moss has been knocked out by Paul Garnham with 5-5 vs K-T, a board of Q-J-4-5-9 more helpful to the latter.

Jon Heath has just doubled up with Kings against Nabil Salim's Queens for a 60k pot...

Snoopy has just arrived...

Already he looked at the 'Scandielous quiz' and said about this picture:

Alex Conroy, son of John 'PunkFloyd' Conroy, (I guess Alex is EmoFloyd then?) is out. 8-8 vs K-K.

Alan Dean is causing problems for Javed Abrahams, first check/raising his 1,500 bet to 4,500 on a 9c 9h 2h board making him fold, then just now he bets about 6k on the river of a 9-3-2-T-J board and again Abrahams is forced to muck. The former chip leader down to about 30k.

After a turbulent journey north, I've finally arrived in sunny Blackpool, home of the Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Tower and Steve 'Womble' Walsmley. The former of those three will be even more pleasurable today as my Glaswegian taxi driver proudly informed me: "There's a lot of lesbians here tonight, I think there's a convention on or something." Sadly, I am currently typing this from the warmth of the G Casino, begrudging the company of large, sweaty, beer guzzling men. Ah well, can't win them all.

Is he still playing less badly than the players around him,  please?

Stu has about 34k, he isn't too worried about his table at the moment, and it isn't going to be breaking just yet...

A quick trundle through the cardroom, and plenty of familiar sights and sounds quickly come to light. The first thing I hear are the endless witterings of 'Mad' Marty (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978) Wilson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978) as he regales the table with various tales, many of which I can only assume are fabricated. A few tables down is Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421) Rutter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421), as eager as usual to bend my ear, as is Pete (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=346) Singleton (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=346), who asked, "Would I be invited if Jen was getting married?" when informed that Jen was escaping to a wedding this weekend. "Of course you would," I replied. "You'd be the groom." And finally, Mr Mallu, looking rather menacing as I passed, which is often a sign of a recent beat and that a storm is abrewing.

There sure are a large batch of unfamiliar faces, but some circuit regulars too. 'Zippy' Zahar Aslam is doing well with 32,000, as is Pippa (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=352) Flanders (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=352) with 50,000. The current chip daddy, however, appears to be a youthful John Heath with 74,000, whilst Jason (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1513) Shellum (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1513) is perhaps his closest contender with 52,000.

He has just lost 7k when the hijack raised to 1,500 (300/600/25) playing a 7.2k stack and Stu set him from the big blind with T-T. The hijack called with A-9 and spiked. He's just suffered another beat...His table just broke after a spate of exits have left us with 100 players left.

Marty Wilson has knocked out a couple of players, including a short-stacked Iwan Jones, as well as one of the Scouse gang which left his friends scratching their heads as their man produced Q-J on the 8-Q-5-2-7 board only for the truly Mad Marty to turn over 9h 6h for the rivered straight.

Adam Wilkinson has been knocked out by Pippa Flanders, Wilkinson came back an hour ago with only 2k and managed to build it up before getting in with Ad Jd against Mrs Flanders Qs Qh.

Ac Ks 3s Js 2s, a truly teasing board that ended in tragedy.

"I passed Aspades Ts" said a rueful Neil Blatchley.

It doesn't take long for me to adjust from the calm of a sleepy 4 hour journey to the frantic pace of a GUKPT, and within moments of entering the battlefield, I stumble upon a fierce battle that left one dead, and the other raising his sword aloft in triumph. The man to hit the deck was Nabid Salim. All in with  Ahrt Td, Salim locked horns with Adam Vinson's 4s 4c, which ultimately held up on a queen high board.

Meanwhile, on a neighbouring table, Martino (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=652) Libertini (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=652) (who sounds like an Italian footballer of the 'mama mia!' ilk) and David Durbler (who sounds like a porn star of the Dirk Diggler ilk) were clashing on a Kd Ts Th Kc board. After Durbler had smooth-called Libertini's turn bet of 2,700, Libertini checked the 5h river, and Durbler tanked. Although he only had 6,000 behind (which perhaps made his flat-call on the turn appear somewhat suspicious), Durbler huffed and puffed and leaned back in his seat, before announcing "two thousand eight hundred" and chucking the chips nonchalantly onto the felt. Libertini insta-mucked, and Durbler showed Td Tc. I think he was ahead.

Poor old Soxy, he's drawn the one seat beneath an invisbile beam meaning he has to permanently be hunched beneath it.

How to make the chip lead according to Jon Heath

[X] Have Queens six times
[X] Five of those times flop a set or turn a set.
[X] Get all-in preflop one of those times against aces and hit runner runner Quads

Incidentally he also has a £50 bet on himself at 200-1 against Neil Channing...

Before I'd had time to meet and greet, 'The Rockstar' John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=608) Conroy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=608) was making his way to the door, his swan song coming with 7d 7c against James (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=183) Akenhead (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=183)'s Aspades 9s. A 6h 4d 9c 4s Jh board was of no use to Floydy, allowing Akenhead to scoop up the pot and amass a now 40,000 plus stack. As he collected his chips, you could sense the fear in the eyes of his opponents, as they know how dangerous the Hit Squadder can be when he's flourishing.

Glenn Ashworth looks a bit fed up, a couple of hours ago he said he'd been grinding for five hours without a hand. It's now been eight hours, "I've had one hand," he admitted, "I pushed in blind and it turned out I had kings..."

Thomas Holbrook was the recipient of the cowboy's gunshots, his Aspades Qs failing to hit on a Ts 3s 5c 2c 6c board. He's still in though, although touching felt with just 825, whilst Jones jumps up to 35,000.

Shane McGrory, simply titled Shane McG on his shirt, is now done and dusted. His demise occurred in a bizarre hand that saw more raised eyebrows than a Rock montage. With the board reading 7d 8c 7c, John Marles led out for 6,700 and McGrory tanked. In fact, he spent so long in the tank that I almost became the first blogger to call the clock, but after much fingering of his column, he made the call, leaving himself just a few thousand behind. A 9d turn led to an all-in from both players, McGrory making the final call with Jc Td. His straight wasn't safe though as his opponent revealed Ad Kd for the nut fush draw, and by the 4d river, John was Marles ahead and McG was McOut.

If there's one thing that winds my colleague up a treat it's when people accidentally congratulate me for the updates when I'm not even here. Whilst I must admit that I have often begged people to post disingenuous compliments when I'm not present if only to further enrage our hapless victim (he cottoned on, eventually), I did receive an private email this morning bigging up my work in Blackpool and asking if I could keep an eye on a couple of players. I just thought I'd share that with our Floppy friend, because it's amusing, he's like Angry Dad from the Simpsons every time someone posts "great updates, snoops".

Play is just about to resume.

Pete Singleton was all-in preflop versus two callers who then checked down the Q-9-7-6-9 board. One of them declared two pair but threw the cards in the muck when Singleton turned over A-9 for trips and a much needed treble up. He look up in the air and thanked whoever was watching him from above. Since we're in a casino, I'm going to assume he's thanking the security staff.

Alan Trueick -- 16,000
Greg Hunt -- 14,500
Zahir Aslam -- 63,500

As I was collating random chip counts, there was an all-in on the central table, big blind Jamie Hallam moving in over the top of Gareth (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1277) Jones (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1277)' button raise for 11,075 more. It's serious business though, Jones removing his glasses and mulling over his option, fully aware that the removal of glasses always enables correct decisions to be made. Meanwhile, Hallam is as still as water, statuesque as he awaits his opponent's decision. After a brief pause, The Nugget opts for the fold, and Hallam survives. Jones down to 12,000.

Tim Magnus appears to be out.

Alan Armitage is up to 50k after betting 5k on an 8-7-4 board only to have Ali Mallu set him in for 20k. But Mallu's reputation of being more aggressive than the randy gorilla from Trading Places didn't help him out on this occasion as Armitage called all-in with A-J and had Mallu's J-9 completely dominated. Bricks on the turn and river secured the double up, though Mallu still has a sizeable stacl.

As I lurked around the near table watching the clock tick down, little did I know of the drama that was about to ensue. With Lorna Lancaster making it 3,500 preflop from mid-position, Terry Nelson pushed from the cut-off and Gary (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=147) Chatterton (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=147) shoved from the button. After Libertini had returned an exchange of words with Chatterton and folded what we were led to believe was a big hand, initial raiser Lancaster made the fold and we had our showdown... except one player didn't want to show.

With Chatterton's Ks Kh lying patiently on the felt, Nelson turned to his neighbour and said, "You told him [libertini] your hand." "No I didn't," replied Chatterton. "No he didn't," concurred Libertini. "No, I want a ruling," demanded Nelson.

As the tournament director was summoned, the argument continued.

"Look mate, I heard you say you had kings and you made him put his hand down."

"Nope, I didn't say that," replied Chatterton.

"He didn't say that, he said 'you haven't got kings have you?'" claimed Libertini. "I folded queens."

"You said 'have you got aces?', and he said 'I've got kings'," accused Nelson.

"I'm not happy about this," continued Libertini. "You're putting words into my mouth. "Look, I've told you what I heard," continued Nelson. "You're calling me a cheat, I'm not a cheat," said Libertini.

With the dealer retracing steps, the tournament director ruled that play would continue and asked Nelson to turn over his hand. Nelson showed Jh Jd. A board of 7s 2c 7h 9c 9h was rather less eventful than the quarrel itself. As Nelson left mumbling under his breath, Libertini said, "Don't call me a cheat, I've never cheated in my life."

In what was a rather heated debate which even involved suggestions of "taking it outside", I simply couldn't resist a cheery face amid all the doom and gloom.

Stuart Rutter got away with a Tikay-esque misread right at the end of the day. Tim Flanders had limped and it was passed to Rutter in the blinds who looked down at Jacks. Unsure what would be exactly the best strategy, he decided to set his opponent in for his remaining 25k. Flanders passed and Rutter flipped his Jacks, saying "What am I supposed to do?"

Only now his Jacks had turned into J-3...

"I gave him an accidental rubdown, oops!

Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421) Rutter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=421) got away with a Tikay-esque misread right at the end of the day. Tim (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=433) Flanders (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=433) had limped and it was passed to Rutter in the blinds who looked down at Jacks.

Keep up the good work, chaps. Homer's stellar photography work on the controversial hand makes me feel as though I'm right in the scrap. And that background pic of Snoopy is gold. Pure gold.
