Howdy ho, peeps, and welcome to the blonde poker live update thread for the first ever DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) Anniversary Cup. It may feel like doors have been open for just one year, but believe it or not, Dusk Till (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) Dawn (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) have now been in business for twelve whole months. It's as if Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=383) Yong (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=383) has stripped down to his birthday suit and streaked through the Grosvenor and Gala casinos with the words "We're here to stay" plastered onto his buttocks. And in celebration of that fact (the message, not the streaking - that was made up), DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) are proud to bring you their much anticipated Anniversary Cup.

Boasting a two hour clock and more chips than an entire series of Catchphrase (that's 20,000 by the way), the £1,000 main event is of course the main attraction and, along with the ballsy £100,000 guaranteed prize pool, should attract some of the best poker fanatics the circuit has to offer. Sadly, I must emphasise the word 'some' as DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) are also competing with the GCBPT Grand Final in Bristol and the GUKPT Champion of Champions event, the latter of which will be updated simultaneously by messieurs danafish and Junglecat.

This end of the M1, meanwhile, we'll be keeping a keen eye on goings on here in Notts to bring you all the action as it happens with all the usual array of hands, counts, photos, quips and, if Floppy can somehow decipher the manual, the odd interview here and there. As always, if you would like a count of anyone in particular, simply give us a shout and like epileptic salmons we'll leap into action and scavenge away for the necessary info.

The current reading is 132, and it's increasing at the speed of a jet propelled cheetah (okay, a slug in treacle), but it should make the 150 mark by the end of the hour, and perhaps even higher before the completion of level two four hours later. Right, Floppy's currently fiddling about with a video camera that we purchased today, but hopefully he'll get a video up shortly. Sadly, the first ever one to derive from this camera will be a practice clip one of me, which I was initially assured wouldn't be making its way to the general public. Lies, the Floppster's poker face cracked in several places. (Do you look at the camera or the interviewer? I can never decide, I chose the camera when I spotted Floppy's mug.)

Chris Bruce is having a frustrating start, after a few limps on his blind, he raised it up with A-Q and got three callers

The flop was Jd 8d 5h and Brucie tried to nick with a bonus 700 chip continuation bet, got called in one spot before there was a raise to 2,000. The third player got out of the way but Charles Valentine in seat 1 made the call. The raiser then continued to fire out another 2,000 on the Kh turn and then 4,000 on the 9c river but was called in both spots and forced to show 7d 5d for bottom pair and a busted flush draw, his opponent showed 9d 7h for the missed double gutshot draw but a rivered third pair which was good enough for the pot.

Valentine looks to be one of our early chip leaders with over 40k.

As Jon Kalmar fired out 800 on a 3h Th 5h Tc board and then 1,600 on the 9s river to take a pot, he seemed much more concerned about his wife's efforts who is over on table 11.

One player who's started well is Brent Dewstow-Newitt. I joined the action on the turn of a 4d Tc Aspades 9d board, Dewstow-Newitt trying to raise Liaquat Javed's curious bet of 100 to 1,000, but being told that he'd have to call due to not announcing his intentions. On the Qc river, Javed once again bet out an odd amount, this time 300, which although was enough to force Will Fry out of the hand, triggered a raise of 1,000 total (this time announced with the annunciation of an Englishman talking to a foreigner) from Newitt. Javed shook his head and made the call, but, as he perhaps expected, came up short against Dewstow-Newitt's Ad Qh. You could say that Javed Newitt before he made the call. Ahem.

Over on table over 25 Paul Kemp and Sean Phillips reached the river of an A-T-T-Q-x board where Kemp bet 1,200, Phillips raised to 5,000 and Kemp flat-called. Kemp showed A-T, but Phillips revealed a triumphant A-A, but was left to rue having not cleaned out his opponent and sent him packing. Kemp down to 15,000.

Tom Underwood has pipped above his starting stack after calling a 2,000 bet from Peter Wilson on the river of a 5c 5d 8c Ts 3h board. Wilson tabled 9c 9s, but Underwood took it down with Kd Kh.

As Billy Ngo tells me, albeit in his always cheerful manner, how he lost a good chunk of his chips to Mad Turk when the latter flopped Quad queens and Billy paid him off turn and river. Mad Turk says, "Are you watching? I'm in a big pot here!"

And it was true he was, I hadn't see the flop or turn action but Turk had raised a James Mitchell river bet on a Kc 9h 9s Ts 6d to the tune of around 7k more. Mitchell then moved in and Turk let out a feral growl as though suddenly he was Wolf from Gladiators...

"You've got Kings full haven't you. If you have Kings full, well...I've driven for 3 and a half hours to get here and..."

Turk calls and Mitchell nods, flipping Kh Kd, and Turk shows Tc 9c in frustration before leaving.

Battling it out for the chip lead is Eoin Kennedy with 39,000. I think we touched upon his double up hand earlier, but were light on details. Thanks to table mate Tim Blake, however, we can shower you with the betting action on the streets. The action started with Kennedy who raised it up, only to receive one caller and a minimum reraise from Bond, Mark Bond. Both players called.

On an ace high flop, Kennedy bet 500, Mateyboy ducked out of the way and Bond called. On the jack turn, there was a bet, raise and a call. Then, come the jack river, Bond led, Kennedy raised, Bond pushed (for not enough to force a fold according to Blake) and Kennedy called. Kennedy took it down with A-J for the full house, whilst Bond could only muster pocket queens.

As he left, Bond was visibly disappointed by his exit, shaken, not stirred. Meanwhile, Kennedy was just delighted to have stuck it in his Goldeneye.

Big pots cause caution...

A sizeable pot of around 13k ended with check-checkage between Pete Linton and his nextdoor neighbour on a Ahrt 8d 3d Aspades 4h as both turned over A-Q off to split the pot.

Meanwhile on a Qs Js 8s 2d 7c board, with 10k in the pot, John Eames checked OOP to his opponent who declined to bet. Eames showed Qd 8d and his opponent looked at the dealer and pointed to Eames, mucking his cards at the same time.

Half the players are now on a dinner break while the the other half, including Jen, Karabiner and Tom Rutter continue.

As the first half of the field staggered towards the buffet, I managed to grab a few counts from some shorties. Just 12 exits thus far, but there are also several people nurturing depleted stacks. Feel free to point and mock from your arm chair.

Early on in the tourney, James raised pre flop to 1k with KK, I called with QQ. The flop came down T42 (2 clubs) he bet out 3k, I shoved, he said "I told myself before the tourney that if someone shoves against my Kings I'll fold" and so he did. I guess he's taken a beating before in this situation.

He got down to 3.5k odd, Everyone folded to me when he was in the BB, I bet out 1k, he raised all in as I expected, I called with K5 off he showed Q3. I hit a 5 on the flop. He hit a queen on the turn and doubled up.

A while later, I find myself with 55 on the button, raise it up to 2k, he shoves 6k+ I call. He shows A7 off and does not improve.

LeKnave just have it stuck in his eye by Daniel Haglund. Haglund raised to 600 from midposition, and LeKnave reraised to 2,150 from the cutoff. After a think from Haglund, he repopped to 5,300 and LeKnave had to check his remaining 20k before folding to anothe 4-bet.

I can't recall if Floppy mentioned it before, but there was a crowd-gasping hand earlier on between Tony Nicholls and the chap pictured below, Richard Fuller. The latter was short-stacked and all in with tens, but looking in bad shape against Nicholls' jacks. A J-T-x flop teased, but ultimately looked to be the end of Fuller until a ten on the end for rivered quads sent the onlooking rail into an erupted frenzy. Nicholls never quite recovered from that blow, and later departed in 171st place.

On the table nearest to us, Gurpreet Nagi, who I believe finalled the monthly freezeout recently, has just bitten the dust. He was all in with Tc Ts against Dennis Troake's Aspades Kc but was unable to survive a clinical Ac 6s 4s 8c 8s board.

Tom McCready is down to just several thousand now. He raised it up with pocket tens and received two callers, which led to a 9-9-8 flop. Tom bet out, only for one of his opponents to push over the top for a 4,500 more. With the draws on board, Tom made the call but found himself up against A-9, and unable to improve.

Neil Channing once described Trevor Reardon as the most solid player in poker, both in the way he plays and his general appearance over all. Trevor is currently hovering around his 20,000 starting stack, but it got me to thinking. Which other players could you describe as the solid personified. Mickey Wernick is clearly a solid player, but is he stocky enough physically to warrant the full package. Thomas Dunwoodie is another one, also Jeff Burke perhaps.

With the blinds at 150 and 300, we're starting to witness some meaty pots, players perhaps not as scared of being eliminated now as they would have been during the opening levels. One hand saw Billy Ngo and James Mitchell stick it all in preflop, the former of the two with his tournament life on the line. When the cards were revealed though, a split pot was on the cards (quite literally), with Mitchell's Ac Kd up against Ngo's Ahrt Kc. The 3c 2s Qc flop teased a possible up the bummydoor runner runner flush, but it wasn't to be as the turn and river came 6h and Qs respectively to chop it up. Ngo remains on just under 10,000.

Meanwhile, in other news, Scott Byron took a nice pot with 9-9 versus 6-5 on a 5-6-7-2-2 board to shoot over the 40,000 mark, whilst Richard Berridge was caught cookie dipping by Howard Plant who called a 3,500 bet on the river of Td 9c 5d 4c 2c board. Not since my first sexual encounter has my jaw sunk so low, but I must confess to being flabbergasted when Pete Linton summoned me over declaring a new style of play and folding A-K preflop. A second glance revealed that there had been a raise and a reraise before him, Guntis Feldmanis opening for 850, only for Robert Whatsize to make it 2,275 the next seat down. With Linton ducking out of the way, the action stopped on Terry Fletcher, who I believe (I'm not positive) had limped from UTG. Fletcher called, Feldmanis passed and the two remaining players saw a 4c 8s Tc flop.

With Fletcher check-calling 3,000, he then check-called the same figure on the 3c turn before altering his approach and leading for 8,000 on the 6h river, leaving himself absolute shrapnel behind. Whatsize sighed briefly before declaring, "Well, if you have the flush, I have to pay you off" and making the call with 4d 4s. Fletcher, meanwhile, raked in a nice pot with 9s 7s, much to the frustration of his opponent and the bemusement of the other players.

A remarkable hand just took place at the far end of the room, a multi-way limped pot finding it's way over to a short-stacked Keith Farr in the small blind who pushed all in for 3,000. A bizarre domino effect then occurred where Richard Berridge shoved for 4,800, Liaquat Javed flat-called, and so did Adam Connell and Howard Plant leaving an incredible five players in the hand and a pot already bulging at the seams.

As Simon Trumper's microphone enticed a flurry of spectators like the pied piper of poker hands, the players proceeded to cautiously check down an Ahrt 3h 2c Kh 6d board, Plant showing Ac 5c for top pair, but being pipped by a gnat's testicle hair by Javed who scooped with Ad 8d. As Farr revealed 7c 7h and departed, he was quickly followed by a despondent Berridge, whilst O'Connell simply mucked. Meanwhile, Nick Hicks, who was seemingly the only player not in the hand, revealed that he would have "took the lot with A-6".

Nevertheless, Hicks released his hand preflop, allowing Javed to win what in the end was a mammoth pot. But whilst all and sundry were amazed by the hand, a cool, stoic Javed simply raked in the chips with the nonchalance of Fonzarelli picking up the ladies.

With the board reading Ks 5d Kh 8s, Luke Marsh looked home and dry with 8d 8c against an inferior Kd Tc, but a dramatic Kc on the river dashed any hopes of a scalp and kept McMillan alive. He now has just under 20,000 in chips.

With the board reading 2s 9c 9s Js, John Eames led out for 4,600, only for Joe Byrne to make it 11,000 to play, leaving 17,000 behind. After a quick glance at his opponent, Eames made the call. On the 8h river, Byrne checked to his foe who led for 15,300. With Eames' resting his chin on his hands and keeping his eyes fixated on the felt, Byrne made the call. Without too much hesistation, Eames showed 9d 9h, which, not too surprisingly, was enough to force Byrne's cards into the muck. Eames now on 80,000, but will be eame-ing (ahem) for more.

133 players of an initial 186 remain. The average stack is around 27,000.

With his two opponents all in, Bain was looking good for a double scalp with Kc Ks versus the 8s 8d and Qc Qh of Chris Brammer and James Eflekhari respectively. With the rest of the room secretly praying for a testicle-cruncher on the river, no such entertainment was provided, the board coming an uneventful 7d Ts 5c 5d Aspades to send both men on their merry way.

Sadly, his timing proved off as his opponent had flopped a straight and Pete is now looking in trouble.

Very little action report at the moment (where's a donkfest when you need one), the spacious structure perhaps meaning players don't need to shove at every possible moment. Trundling through the cardroom, I did spot a double up for local boy Waheed Ashraf. Ashraf, who has been yoyo-ing all day but never really threatened to leap above his starting stack, managed to get his remaining 8,000 all in in cracking shape, his Aspades Ac looking to dodge four outs or a nasty runner runner against Dennis Troake's inferior Kh Qh. The 2d turn was safe, and although a jack would have delivered a gutshot in more ways than one, it didn't emerge as the dealer popped out a harmless 4d on the river.

We have movement, not in LeKnave's hair which is as rigid as an icicle, but in his stack which has been sent over to the far table to join the likes of Dewi James (38,000) and Jim Buckley (40,000). LeKnave is trailing both of these, but has his head above his starting stack with 24,000.

Interesting hand between John Eames and Raj Dhiri. Interesting because any hand John Eames plays invariably has him flopping a set, quads or something else equally ludicrous.

Anyway, on the turn of a Js Jh Td 5c board, Eames bets 4,550 and Dhiri does the whole, "I've got a big decision so I better stand up" type thing. Eames just sits looking bored. There's the usual, "Will you show when I pass?" type stuff etc...then Dhiri flips his cards over to show pocket Queens, despite not having folded yet.

But one time in five, things are going pearshaped for the nut preflop hand, and on this occasion, the force was with the Hickster as he spiked another cowboy turning things for Karabiner from the good to the bad and the just plain ol' ugly. With the board reading 3c 6s 2c 7c Td, Paul McTaggart led out for 3,500, leaving 22,000 behind. Zippy Aslam has taken a big pot of Jon Kalmar

The pot already looked big on the turn with the board reading Qs Tc 5c 8s where Kalmar check/raised Zippy's 2,700 bet to about 7,700. Zippy made the call after some serious deliberation with only about 10k behind. The river was a draw-making Jc. Kalmar checked and Zippy moved in.

With just several minutes left on the clock, Dewi James bet 3,000 onto a Js 4h Qh 8c before attempting numerous verbal techniques to persuade one of is his two opponents to call. Sadly for the Welshman, neither did, although he showed them Qh Jc nevertheless. James on circa 30,000, maybe a tad less.

Right at the death, Ricky Smith eliminated a short-stack with Js 9h versus Ac Qd, all in on the flop of a Jc 5s 2h Th Jd board.

Meanwhile, there was an tense clash between Neil Giblin and Zahir Aslam on a neighbouring table. Giblin made it 1,200 preflop from late position, Aslam defended from the big blind and the two players saw an Ac 8d 2c flop. Aslam checked, Giblin bet 1,900, Aslam raised to 5,100 and Giblin pushed all in. It was 24,500 for Aslam to call, but after giving his opponent the Spanish Inquisition, eventually opted for the fold. I hadn't noticed this EPT result come through but watching that video I just realised he is the guy I hung out with a bit in Slovenia about a year ago along with Alan and Luke Vinnicombe.  A good lad who as I recall was casually cleaning up in their big cash game while focusing the majority of his attention on his PSP rather than the game!
