Title: DTD Anniversary Cup - Final Day
Post by: NoflopsHomer on December 07, 2008, 04:28:37 AM
10 players remain.

10 people who are most likely incredibly drained, physically and mentally. It's survival of the fittest. Who will win?

Chip counts to follow and play starts at 2pm...

Must.....Sleep.

I bet it went someting like this.  She went to the chef to collect your meal he said to her, It's for the fat B* over there with the tash. She then came to your table and said to matey boy, can you pass this to the plump guy in seat 3.

Not as  you are either fat or a B* but it was how I envisaged it. xx

Play has restart, and it's Nick Hicks who takes down an early pot. There was a bet and a call with Billy Defty (not sure who made the bet) on a 2h Jd Ts flop, before Hicks took it down with a 16,000 bet on the 3d turn.

We've just started, although I think Snoopy and I are still waking up and Snoops has the Knightmare theme stuck in his head and keeps humming it.

John Eames has shoved from the small blind over the top of Luke Marsh's raise and doesn't get any action.

David Anderson has not turned up yet surprisingly.

Billy Defty raised out of turn to 18,000 (he initially thought Cristiano Blanco was the big blind, rather than the absent David Anderson), and Nick Hicks (button) and Bernie Holmes (BB) both called. A 22,000 bet on a an Ad Qc 3h flop was enough to see the pot go Defty's way.

Luke Marsh raises to 16k and Ints Grinbaums makes it 45k on the button. Marsh folds.

On the other table Nick Hicks raises from the cut-off, Bernie Holmes calls from the button and Cristiano Blanco calls in the big blind.

6d Qs 6h

Check to Hicks who bets 23k, the other two fold.

David Anderson has arrived!

Yes, in the car ride here we were having a conversation about Lord Fear, the goblin war bands and the 'Fear Knights' as well as the impossible-to-beat Corridor of Blades. Fascinating stuff.

This event echoes the WSOP in a number of way. Not only is there the same starting stack and blind structure, but we're also winning late entrances in true Hellmuth fashion. Sadly for David Anderson, however, he'll have which he slipped on the ice outside, as on the very first hand he played, he lost a mammoth pot to Nick Hicks. With Anderson limping from the button and Billy Defty calling from the small blind, Hicks made it a total of 31,000 to play from the big blind. Anderson called; Defty ducked out of the way.

Hicks then proceeded to check-call three consecutive bets on a Ac Ks 2d 6c 5s board, 45,000 on the flop, 70,000 on the turn, and finally 90,000 on the river. "Let's see the cards," commanded the dealer. There was a slight hesitancy at first, but Anderson was first to reveal the goods, but in the end his Kc 7c for second pair wasn't quite enough against Hicks' Ad Js which scooped up a nice, meaty pot.

Post by: NoflopsHomer on December 07, 2008, 02:36:09 PM
Marsh loses a pot to Grimsbaum on a Ks 4s 6s 9h 4h board after the Latvian shows Js Ts.

On the other table, there's a 3-way pot between Nick Hicks, Bernie Holmes and Cristiano Blanco.

Qc 7c 6h

Check to Blanco, who bets 25k, Hicks calls and now Holmes makes it 75k. The other two fold.

John Eames bets 21k on a 9d Jc 2d 9h board, after a think, Trevor Reardon raises to 53k. Eames grimaces and folds. He's really short now, the 1k ante is really hurting the shorter stacks.

No it's right because David Jones is out in 10th place.

He pushed from the button with Kd 6c. Snap-called by Luke Marsh in the big blind with Ahrt Aspades.

First blood to Luke Marsh, he raises to 18k from midposition and Nick Hicks calls in the big blind.

Jc Js 6c

Check from Hicks, Marsh bets 20k. Hicks calls.

7s

Check check.

Qd

Hicks checks a third time, Marsh bets 33k and Hicks makes the call. Marsh shows Ahrt Ad, Hicks nods, taps the table and mucks.

Cristiano Blanco raises to 20k UTG. Ints Grimbaums thinks about it but folds. Passed to John Eames who moves in for 77k. Back to the Italian who gets a count but then calls fairly sharpish.

Blanco: Aspades Qs
Eames: 9s 9c

Ks 3s Ac (Not really the best flop)...8h...Qh

John Eames is out in 9th place winning £3,534

Luke Marsh looks to be taking the chip lead over, having recovered from that 4-bet that cost him most of his stack. He's won a fair few pots, the latest being on a A-4-4 board when the Latvian Grimbaums folded 2-2 to him and Marsh smiled as he raked in the chips.

The action folded round to Nick Hicks who made it a total of 16,000 from the small blind. David Anderson called in the big. On the Jc 8c Tc, Hicks won with a bet of 16,000; Anderson showed an ace face up (rather than er... face down) to prove that he wasn't calling light.

A curious hand led to a double up for David Anderson just moments ago, and a much needed one too. After being reraised off the previous hand by Luke Marsh (24,000 to 74,000), Anderson turned aggressor himself, reraising Ints Grinbaums' early position raise of 24,000 to a total of 74,000 to play. Without too much hesitation, Grinbaums made the call.

Moments after a 2s Ts Qd flop hit the felt, Grinbaums took a stab at his opponent's chip count, as if calculating the number of sweets in a jar at a school fete. "One four eight," came the reply. After squirming in his seat momentarily, which has become almost a custom for our Latvian friend, Grinsbaums tapped his finger on the table to signify a check.

Back on Anderson, who began counting out a stack of purple chips before leading out for 70,000. Almost instantly, Grinbaums announced all-in, and Anderson called.

Anderson = Ac Qh
Grinbaums = Aspades 8h

With eyebrows raised as if attached to multiple fishing rods, Grinbaums shook his head, possibly regretting the rashness of his play, but too late in the day. Nevertheless, he still had outs for the outdraw, but no such luck emerged as the 7h turn sealed the deal, whilst the 3c river just wasted the dealer's time.

It's passed around to Nick Hicks in the smalll blind who casually raises to 18k. David Anderson folds, Nick shows Qd Qc because he always has a hand right?

We had thought that the slight flattening of the payout structure would loosen up the table, it seems to be doing the opposite.

Blinds are 4k/8k/1k so there's 20k in the pot preflop now. The average stack of 465k only has 23 and a half rounds to play.

Title: Re: DTD Anniversary Cup - Final Day

After being the recipient of a timely double up just moments prior the break, the roller coaster that is David Anderson has taken an immediate dip a couple of hands in. Raising it up from the small blind, big blind Bernie Holmes made the call leading to a flop of 8c Kh Js. Amid a tense atmosphere, Anderson then bet 34,000, followed by 55,000 on the Ac turn before firing one final bullet of 150,000 on the 6d river.

As Anderson remained statuesque, his arms seemingly glued to the felt either side of him, Holmes began to count out the call, although not with too much urgency. Nevertheless, he took a deep breath and announced call. As the other players looked on with curiosity, Anderson flipped over Qs Jh, but it wasn't enough as Holmes tabled Ad 8s for two pair and the pot.

As a result, Anderson has dropped back down to approximately 120,000.

A rare limped pot between Luke Marsh and Cristiano Blanco in the blinds.

Ahrt Kd 8c

Check from Marsh, Blanco bets 10k. Marsh makes it 22k. Call from Blanco.

6c

Check check.

Ks

And with that card, Blanco definitely isn't going anywhere. Both players check and Marsh mucks as Blanco shows 9d 8d.

Cristiano Blanco just added more to his stack. Three small stacks of purple 5k chips as a bet of 75k on the river of a 5c 8c Ks 8s Ts board was enough to get Trevor Reardon to fold his hand.

Everyone left in looks to be very deep now, apart from David Anderson who is on the brink with about 120k and will have to make another move soon.

Here's an interview that Snoopy Parkinson did with him during the break.

David Anderson is out and becomes the 8th place finisher winning £10,000

Well, it would appear as though my video interview of David Anderson bokked the poor fellow, because moments after posting, we did indeed witness him depart in a disappointing eighth place.

It was a preflop raising war that was his downfall, Ints Grinbaums on the button making the final call with Aspades Ks to Anderson's Kd Qc in the big blind. As the cards were revealed, you could almost see the pain plastered across the face of Anderson.

Although the 9h Kh 3d flop provided no help, the Td turn at least produced four more outs to the straight, but no knaves or dames emerged on the 2d river and Anderson was gone.

Raise on the button from Luke Marsh to 25k and Trevor Reardon makes a very quick call from the big blind.

8d 3h 4d

Check from Big TR, Marsh bets an unusually small 22k. Reardon immediately says, "All-in." It's a big bet, looks to be about 280k total and Marsh sits there chewing on his lip before folding saying, "That was a good flop for me..." Reardon sits, smiles and says nothing.

Luke Marsh limped for 8,000, Trevor Reardon called from the button, as did Billy Defty in the small blind. After a huff and a puff (he wears his heart on his sleeve this lad), Ints Grinbaums checked his option.

With all four players checking the 9h 5s Jc flop, Luke Marsh bet 8,000 on the Jh turn, which was called in two places by Reardon and Defty.

Checks all around on the 7s river, Reardon mucking, Marsh showing 6s 6d, but Defty getting there on the end with 8s 7c.

Jh

I'm not sure how they go there, but nevertheless Trevor Reardon (mid position) and Luke Marsh (big blind) reached the turn of a 7c 9c Tc 3d board, where Marsh led for 35,000 and Reardon called. On the Ad river, Marsh checked, Reardon bet 65, and Marsh passed.

Raise from the button to 30k from Bernie Holmes. Cristiano (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=512) Blanco (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=512) calls in the big blind.

3h 6s 4s

Check check.

Qd

Check. Holmes bets 35k, call.

9h

Check. Holmes bets 40k. Blanco raises to 110k. Holmes looks disappointed like he's gone for the ice cream in the freezer but there's none left. He calls though and Blanco mucks. Holmes shows Aspades Qc to win.

Blanco is down to about 280k or so, roughly the same as Trevor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=445) Reardon (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=445).

I recommend Blanco switches to the electric spinning ball attack.

On a 4c 7s 6s 6d board, Ints Grimbaums bets 40k into a 100k pot or so only for Luke Marsh to move all-in for around 280k more. This visibly causes the Latvian some distress as he fiddles with his chips for a couple of minutes, head in hands. He counts out his stack of 500k of which it will cost about half to call. The pressure seems to tell and he gives it up allowing Marshall to get back close to the half million mark.

Incidentally, I don't think I've seen a single 3-bet preflop so far on this table, everyone is playing small-ball here.

A Kd 4s 2s Jd Ts board gets checked to the river between Trevor Reardon and Cristiano Blanco when the former bets 15k on the river to win it.

Next hand and Blanco takes the blinds and antes with a button raises to 27k.

We are secretly hoping for set-over-set or A-A vs K-K to liven this up.

Or possibly a long dwell-up, so you can wonder Watson his mind.

Or for him to get it all-in with 44 against an over pair, leaving him hoping for any Sign of the Four.

Big last hand before the break.

Luke Marsh raises to 27k, Trevor Reardon and Billy Defty come along for the ride.

4c Jh 6h

Marsh and Reardon check. Defty bets a very small 15k into the 90k+ pot. Marsh calls and Reardon passes.

7c

Marsh checks again and Defty bets 25k. Marsh calls again.

3s

Now Marsh leads out for 85k and it's very hard to seem him trying to bluff a five here given how the hand has gone, so Ahrt 5h or 5-5 seem the only possibilities. Defty calls and Marsh flips 5h 5d. Defty shows 6-6 for the flopped set that ended up second best.

Blanco then took down the pot with a bet of 80,000 on a Tc 4c Kh, showing a king as his opponent mucked his cards. Solid start from Blanco who, incidentally, was frustrated during the dinner break after making "a couple of big mistakes".

It gets to the turn of a Ks 3s 3h Ahrt board where Ints Grinbaums bets 60k from the small blind and Nick Hicks makes the call. The river is the Jd and both players check. Nick turns over Kh 7c but he's been pipped by Ints Grinbaums' Aspades 9s turned bigger two pair, allowing the Latvian to regain some of the chips he'd lost the previous hand and then some.

Title: Re: DTD Anniversary Cup - Final Day
Post by: snoopy1239 on December 07, 2008, 08:08:19 PM
Ints Grinbaums experienced a minor setback, first limping for 10,000 before folding to a raise to 40,000 from Nick Hicks on the button, and then minimum raising to 20,000 on the very next hand, but folding to a reraise to 90,000 from big blind Luke Marsh. Nick Hicks had called the 20,000 from the button, but he also released his hand when Marsh applied the pressure.

On the next hand, Grinbaums took a back seat, which paved the way for Hicks to take a stab at the blinds with a raise to 26,000. Cristiano Blanco was resistant in the big blind, however, and made the call, leading to a flop of 3d 3s 2h. Both players checked, but Hicks fired out 45,000 on the Kd turn, which was flat-called by Blanco. On the Ks river, Blanco became the aggressor, leading for 100,000, which was enough to force Hicks to fold.

Board?...

7s 5s 4s 3h Jd

Nice flop.

Ints Grimbaums raises to 40k, Luke Marsh calls on the button.

Jh 7h 4h

Grimsbaum bets an unusually small 30k, Marsh raises to 100k. The Latvian instantly calls.

Jc

Check to Marsh who now bets 100k again. Grimsbaum moves all-in. Marsh calls.  These last two happened in a within a second.

Marsh: Jd Js for Quaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddsssssss
Grimbaums: 6h 6d for drawing dead.

5c

Grimbaums has Marsh covered by about 12k so Marsh wins a 1 million dollar pot!

Meanwhile, on the £200 side event final, there was an amusing hand as 6s 2c somehow got it all in against Ac Ad.

Board?...

7s 5s 4s 3h Jd

Nice flop.

On the very next hand, nobody was surprised to see Ints Grinbaums' remaining shrapnel go into the middle, but it was tad unfortunate to run into the Qs Qd of Luke Marsh. With a paltry 6c 3c, Grinbaums was in need of a miracle, but Christmas came early for the Latvian as the board came 2c 6h 5d 7h 4d to see him jump up to the dizzy heights of 44,000. Even a wounded Grinbaums couldn't resist a slight chuckle.

Ints Grinbaums is OUT and becomes the 6th place finisher winning £10,000

For the third consecutive hand in a row, Ints Grinbaums clashed with Luke Marsh with the former's tournament life once again on the line. This time he was in slightly better shape with 7s 6c versus Ad 5h, but the Poker Gods kept well away on this occasion as Marsh took the decider with a rather less eventful 9c Jc Kh 2h 3h board.

As Grinbaums departed he shook the hands of his former opponents and wished them good luck, but couldn't resist asking Marsh about what he held in a hand from earlier on in the day.

DTD breaks it's own record for tournaments being held at the same time.

The £1,000, the £200, the £150 Stud, the £100 and a £25 comp are now all going on at the same time.

Meanwhile it looks like Cristiano Blanco has been drinking some of his compatriot Dario Minieri's reraising juice! First he takes Nick Hicks off a preflop raise of 28k by bumping it up to 85k. Next he steals Billy Defty's big blind from the small blind.

After this, Luke Marsh takes NicK Hicks' big blind with a raise to 25k from the cut-off.

More chips for Cristiano Blanco. Luke Marsh, who has become more aggressive since we went five-handed, makes it 25k on the button, Blanco makes it 85k from the small blind and gets the chip leader to fold.

Nick Hicks and Billy Defty are noticeably shorter than the other three but still have comfortable stacks. With us going short-handed now, it's really starting to open up a bit...

A few short sharp hands in the last few minutes.

Cristiano Blanco and Billy Defty check a Tc 8s 2s Qs 4c board down where Blanco shows Jh 7c which is good against 9s 3h.

Next hand Nick Hicks gets a walk.

Defty raises to 30k on the button and nabs them tharr blinds.

45 minutes left in this level.

Min-raise from Bernie Holmes on the button. Marsh passes. Cristiano Blanco looks at his cards and says, "This is the only hand I never play, even if I have the pot-odds!"

He folds.

Next hand, Marsh raises the button and Defty calls, but then check folds to a 22k bet on a 6s 3c 2h flop.

Marsh limps the next hand and Nick Hicks checks the big blind.

2h Ad 3d

Check, Marsh bets 12k. Hicks quickly calls.

Kd

Check, Marsh bets 20k. Hicks instantly calls again.

Jd

Check, check. Hicks turns over Aspades Ts but he's lucky that fourth diamond hit because Marsh had flopped the wheel with 5h 4h!

With the action folded round to the blinds, Nick Hicks limped from the small blind and Bernie Holmes checked his option in the big. On the 7c 2d 6c flop, Hicks led for 15,000 and Holmes called. An Aspades hit the turn, leading to Hicks check-calling a bet of 25,000, although he initially only put 5,000 out there (fatigue perhaps). By the Qc river, Holmes was firing again, to the tune of 40,000 which, after looking his opponent up and down, was called by hicks with 9d 7s. Holmes had 8s 2h.

Not going Nick Hicks' way over the last 15 minutes or so. He makes his first raise in several rounds to 28k, only for Billy Defty to reraise very small to just 60k. Nick passes.

Soon after Blanco goes after his blind again with a 34k button raise. Nick is forced to pass again.

He has about 260k and will have to probably make some sort of move during the remainder of this level or certainly at the start of the next one.

Hows the action please snoopy?

Pretty tense at the moment. A lot of tired faces, and hands are taking quite a while to complete with players thinking through each and every step they make. The last hand between Luke Marsh and Cristiano Blanco was a prime example, as Marsh raised from late position and Blanco called from the blinds. On the Kh 5c 9c flop, Blanco check-raised Marsh's continuation bet of 50,000 to 150,000.

At this point, your blogging team were kept waiting for a good few minutes as Blanco tried to manipulate his opponent into doing what he wanted him to do. Uncharacteristically, he started talking to him, even at one point saying, "You know I'll call if you move all in." Marsh, meanwhile, simply stared at the board, barely moving an inch and completely ignoring anything his opponent said.

After a while, he meekly announced all-in, putting the pressure back on his Italian foe. Blanco was not happy, he shook his head numerous times, sighed and started to check his stack to see if he could feasibly make a call. Again, we had to wait a while before a decision was made, which in the end was a fold. Marsh took down another tasty pot, and is showing no signs of relinquishing his grip on this final table.

On the final hand before the break, Nick Hicks raised preflop and received one caller in Bernie Holmes. On the Aspades 5c 4d flop, Hicks continue bet for half the pot, which again Holmes flat-called. Hicks opted to check the Qc turn though, which enticed a bet of 70,000 from Holmes. As the other players left the table, Hicks mulled over his options, but ultimately threw his cards into the middle. "I had kings there," Hicks later told me. "You made me sweat for a moment there," said Holmes as he joined the conversation. "I had two pair, hit it on the flop."

Breaks last however long T.D. Simon Trumper decides (although all players need to agree also). As a result, they tend to differ. The last break was only several minutes long.

Qh

He'd been getting more and more frustrated by neighbour Luke Marsh all day, and he just seemed one step ahead at all times. Cristiano (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=512) Blanco (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=512)'s last hand in this event was no different. With Blanco raising it up UTG, Marsh made the call in the big blind, thus leading us to a 7d Th 9d flop. Marsh's check triggered a bet of 100,000 from Blanco, which Marsh quickly replied to with an all-in announcement. "Call," said Blanco in equally quick time.

Blanco = Ks Ts
Marsh = Aspades Tc

Turn = 5c

River = 6c

And the Italian Stallion is put back in the barn.

Limped pot between small blind Billy Defty and big blind Nick Hicks.

3d Kc Qs

Defty bets 20k. Nick calls.

Kd

Defty bets 40k, and at this point Nick only has 120k behind. He calls.

8h

Defty thinks for about a minute then moves all-in. Nick doesn't like it but eventually calls.

Defty: Ks 6d
Hicks: Qd and mucks the other card.

Nick Hicks is out in 4th place winning £14,880

Cristiano (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=512) Blanco (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=512) is OUT and becomes the 5th place finisher winning £11,160

Blanco = Ks Ts
Marsh = Aspades Tc

Turn = 5c

River = 6c

And the Italian Stallion is put back in the barn.

Spoke to Nick Hicks moments after his exit. "I actually feel fine about it all. I was really happy to ladder that last place, so no complaints. I didn't play well today though. A solid game overall for the tournament, but not in the final. I'll probably be back for the £300 event in Janaury."

More chips for Marsh as Holmes gets stuck in the mud.

Raise to 44k from Holmes from the small blind and he quickly gets called by Marsh.

Qs 7s 4d

Check from Holmes, Marsh bets 30k. Call

7h

Check check.

4c

Now Holmes leads out for 80k, has he got a four? Marsh quickly calls and Holmes shows Ks 9h and it's in fact Marsh who has the four, he has Kc 4s to win the pot.

Luke Marsh repops Billy Defty's 32k raise to a total of 72k. Defty shows an ace and folds.

Next round Marsh just calls Defty's 35k raise but check/folds to a bet on the 4h Jd 4s Tc turn.

Rough counts:

Luke Marsh -- 2.6 million
Bernie Holmes -- 600k
Billy Defty -- 500k

5c Ts 4s

Check. Marsh throws out 50k...Call

5h

Check. Marsh throws out 75k this time. Think...and a call.

9d

Check for a third time and Marsh goes for another bullet. 100k's worth. Holmes reluctantly passes. He's down to about 400k now.

I'm obviously a little disappointed with not doing better. I didn't play anywhere near as well as I should have done if I'm honest. On the upside, I'm feeling more confident at each final I make and each experience makes the next one a bit easier!

Great updates from Snoops and Floppy and what a fantastic tourney DTD put on. If only there was one like this every month!

Cheers,

Nick

Four recent hands:

(1) Bernie Holmes took the blinds and antes uncontested with a button raise to 40,000.

(2) Luke Marsh raised to 30,000 from the small blind, Billy Defty called in the small blind and Bernie Holmes folded the big. On the 8h 9c 8s, Defty check-folded to a bet of 40,000.

(3) Luke Marsh received a walk in the big blind.

(4) Luke Marsh limped in the small blind and Billy Defty checked his option in the big. On the Jd 4d Qd flop, Defty called a bet of 20,000. Both players checked the 5d turn. Defty then folded to a bet of 20,000 on the Ad river.

As you can see, very few hands being seen at the moment.

Snoops & No-flops - Great job four 16 hours days I am sure are not too much fun.

Any excitement in the Stud event?

I see Thomas Brohlin is still in - is he the ex footballer or (and there was slight google help here) is he  "Monsignor Thomas G. Bohlin is the U.S. vicar of the Prelature of Opus Dei" which would be so much a better story. Also I see the ex commentator Nic Szeremeta is still in as well - any chip counts?

I was worried that the comp would overrun, but by the looks of it, it will be finishing bang on, fantastic structure!! I was comparing the GCBPT and the GUKPT structures, with average chips all the way through the final stages, I know which one I would prefer! Although I am biased DTD nailed this, Good luck to all 3 left and well done to everyone who cashed.

Billy Defty and Bernie Holmes see a rare flop together (rare in that Marsh isn't involved).

9d 7s 5s

Holmes bets 16k, Defty raises to 50k. After a looooooooooonnnnnnnnnggggg think. Holmes folds the 9c face up. Defty shows the 9h 7h and says, "I really didn't want that hand to go on any longer."

Which makes you wonder if he doesn't want to play top two pair through a couple more streets, then what hand does he want to do it with?

The first big pot we've witnessed in a while seemed to emerge from nowhere. Luke Marsh raised it up to 31,000 in the small blind and Billy Defty announced 100,000. But as Defty was about to slide his chips across the line, Marsh had immediately replied with an all-in delcaration. Defty hesitated, and you could almost see him thinking "Is there any chance I can keep these?" But in the 100,000 went, and the decision was back on the shorter of the two stacks.

"Big difference between third and second," he said as he looked down at his now 340,00 stack. "Sorry mate, I gotta think this one through."

"Tens?" he probed. "Jacks?" He received no response whatsoever.

As he continued to dwell, Marsh took a sip of his orange juice and placed it down on the table the other side of him. A tell perhaps? Does he noramlly put his Um Bongo back on the same table? Or just me being a baffoon?

Either way, Defty made the fold, showing Ad Qd face up in the process.

"Painful?" I asked Bernie Holmes as he rose from his seat with a look of disgruntlement.

"This is terrible," he replied. "I'm getting bummed from both sides."

"That does sound painful," joked a member of the rail.

And on the last hand of the level...

Bernie Holmes raises on the button. Luke Marsh (who we are told is a big cash game player on Crypto) moves all-in and Defty moves out of the way. Call! On their backs!

Holmes: Ad Kh
Marsh: 6c 6h

Jc 7d 8h 9c Jd

The game is no longer afoot for Bernie Holmes. He goes out in 3rd place winning £19,574

They're HU and Defty only looks to have about 340k left. Marsh has about 3.3 million... Short break before the HU.

Cracking start for Billy Defty. Although he only started with a few hundred thousand and a huge chip deficit, he's managed to take down the first three hands. On the first, Luke Marsh limped from the button before folding to a bet of 100,000. On the second, Marsh bet 20,000 on an Ahrt 7s 4s flop, Defty made it 60,000 and Marsh folded. Finally, Defty received a walk in the big blind.

Speaking to Luke Marsh during the break, his strategy seemed to be leaning towards a straight forward game. He thought Billy Defty would go for it now Bernie Holmes was gone, so decided it would be best to just grind him down and wait until he had the goods before trying to finish him off.

Luke Marsh gets a walk in the big blind.

Next hand and Marsh raises to 33k on the button/small blind. Defty makes the call.

Jc Js 9h

Check check.

Qs

Defty bets 50k. Marsh announces all-in...Defty breathes out and calls!

Marsh: Kc Qh
Defty: Kd Tc

Marsh needs some help. A ten for a split or a Queen or Jack for the win.

The river is.....Jh and there's a stunned silence as people suddenly realised that Marsh has won!

Billy Defty goes out in 2nd place winning £31,850 and...

LUKE MARSH IS THE INAUGURAL DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) ANNIVERSARY CUP WINNER WINNING £55,286!!!!
