I played 1 hand in the first 20 minutes, needless to say i played 1 hand in the comp!!
Flopped a straight, managed to get all my chips in against trip 6's and the obvious rivered  >:(
Cruel game.
Anyway, all i know is that there were 99 runners so a very nice prize pool.

there were 99 runners - so the prize pool is just a smidge off of 30 large, which means 11,900 to the victor.

When i tralled back up the A38 in rain of Noah's proportions there were 19 left.  We go back today and play it out.  There will be 10 prizes so 9 unlucky fellas will leave with nout.

I asked Zak for the names and chip counts but because no-one had signed consent forms he couldn't release the information so i'll do a brief synopsis - which will be brief cos i don't really know many of the Walsall lot.

We'll start with the easy one - I've got 18,200 in chips which is playable as the blinds will be 6-12 when we return and will move to 8-16 after about 20 minutes (clock is 45 mins per round)

Mad Chinese Paul from Nottingham has about 30,000 and "Big Banned" (banned from Nottingham that is!!) Dave Smith is deep stacked and is hitting everything (55v88 - They both hit sets on a 825 flop but Dave makes his fourth 5 on the river! - He cracked AA with 8-9, then he cracked KK with JJ - the guy is unbelievable)

Steve Jelinik is there with 25k and Big Des (the man with more gold than fort knox) is also well placed.

Apart from that - i am struggling for names and chip counts. - maybe i'll get the result on the forum later

Im still in, but short as usual, 10K  :(

 Hewston has 35k,

John Morgan is in, dunno how many but last I saw he looked comfortable,

the big coloured guy with all the bling and the chat, (dont know his name but nice guy) has 65k,

old pete, paul's mate, has about 22k

Dave Smith had good chips last I saw.

What is it with the consent form thingy?
Have rules/law changed?
When we were in the 500 in January Dave C was supplied with a sheet of paper with all the remaining players and chipcounts for his tourny report without problem.
He did go round matching faces to names but never asked for consent.
At the Broadway on Monday they didn't ask me if i minded my name published on the net and yet it was  ???

I9 players returned at 3pm this afternoon, including me

with my usual flair and skill I worked my short stack of 10k up to 50k by the time we got to bubble stage

and what a bubble it was, lasting for over two 45 min levels short stacks all in with the worst of it and coming up smelling of roses

anyway, blinds 2000/4000 I find myself on the bb with QQ, all fold to sb who goes all in for 35k with 66

I call and and he rivers a 6

Im down to 17k with the blinds at 3000/6000 my bb

all fold to sb and he sets me in, I call with 79o hoping for live cards, he shows 10 Q

first card pairs my 7, next card pairs his 10, 3rd card puts me up and down, turn makes my straight, river gives him bigger straight

exit me and, as it turns out, a player from the other table at the same time

alas I had less chips than him so I am the bubble boy

so these are the 9 remaning finalists with approximate chip counts

D Jonas 116k

T choo-Sing 92k

M Fletcher 47k

W Chilton 45k

J Hewston 41k

P Ng 97k

S Jelinek 49k

M Cavanagh 29k

STOP PRESS

as I was walking out the door John Hewston tapped me on the shoulder

He was out, his JJ cracked By 10 10

Unless you give permission to have your name published, then it shouldnt be. The casino can't just give names out. However, If the results are posted up on the wall then anyone could take the names and publish.

Or some such shit.

Now THATS controversal.

Smithy was (is) banned for 6 months.

Can't believe you never heard THAT Ralph.

I've not been there for ages so I'm not up to date with the gossip

Smithy and I go back a long way, he's the only guy that I've had a fist fight with in the last 25 years !!

 :D :D

What did he do to incur such draconian measures ?

After all we only got yellow cards for our little altercation.

That and my black eye  >:(

Title: Re: Walsall 300 Freeze out
Post by: tikay on May 24, 2005, 12:18:49 AM
He had an "altercation" with Burglar Kev.

Burglar Kev allegedly (assume this is all "allegedly", though it happened in front of over 100 players!) "blew cigarette smoke" in Big Dave's face. Dave took exception to this - he was never much of a wordsmith - & spat in Burglar Kev's face.

They squared up, but Management intervened. Burglar Kev suggested Smithy "step outside" so that the business could be finished properly. Smithy said not until Kev pays the 100 he owes him.

It all goes off again, & the police are called. Kev decides to press charges against Dave, it appears that spitting, in these days of Aids & the like being easily transmitted by bodily fluids, counts as GBH. So Smithy then decides to press charges against Burglar Kev for alleged ABH, namely "blowing smoke in my face".

But burglar Kev don't need to get involved with the police, he's probably on probation for some minor misdemeanour, so any trouble & he's likely to get banged up, & so it all quietens down eventually.

In the first instance, Gala ban Smithy for 2 weeks, & warn Kev as to his future conduct. But on reflection, they decide to ban Smithy for 6 months, & Burglar Kev for 2 weeks.

Next case.

See, now where else could you get information like that, thats why Im always logged on here, better than Emmerdale, but with slightly less believable plot lines

Title: Re: Walsall 300 Freeze out
Post by: tikay on May 24, 2005, 01:12:08 AM
Amusing? I dont think Dave & Kev thougt it was!

For those not familiar with the Notts "faces", Burglar Kev is a charicature of a character from Porridge, a real "old con" type of guy. Speaks out the side of his mouth, cups his ciggie in the palm of his hand, rolls his own cigarettes with an expert hand, always has a few second-hand watches for sale. But I have loaned him money - just 20's & 40's - loads of times, & he has never let me down. Rumour is he was in prison the same time as Ash (another Notts "face"), but I have no idea if that is true. Physically, he maybe weighs 8 stone wringing wet.

Dave Smith is, physically, the very opposite of Kev. 25 stone minimum, & always wears a suit - and always the same suit. A passionate anti-smoker, he used to wear a mask, but has not done so for a few years. Rumours abound about Dave's past, but I can't comment as I don't really know the facts. Lacks the ability to chat a problem through, always shouts at the top of his voice, & gets incredibly excited at the drop of a hat, rather like a schoolboy. You cannot reason with Dave! Have loaned him money plenty of times, he's as good as gold when it comes to paying back. Hasa lovely son, Kev, who is polite, a great player, & has good social skills.

We have a bit of everything at Notts.....

And - I am told - we have proper Lap Dancing clubs in Notts.

Well I am relieved that you were quoting Ironside, & not me!

Boycott? What boycott? Not me Sir!

As it happens, Ironside is something of a serial boycotter. I recall he "withdrew his services" from the HMF recently - & never returned until his demands were met!

it worked thought 36 hours of me not posting in the HMF and i was listed in the market for the HMF league tourny

dont think a 36 hour boycott on my behalf will affect the notts gala but i am willing to wait this one out

i did enjoy the final day as it was my 1st biggie since i  started playing in february. until the last 6 . down to 6 on both tables . but did find it difficult to cope with 4 players holding hands and playing against me  for 2 hours to knock me out being the low stacker . but i will  put this experience down to good use in the future .cheers
