News in. 12(!) dealers have called in sick. This means that there will be a cap on the number of players at 198 with alternates being taken for the first three levels. As I write this there is still about 30 or 40 people trying to buy-in.

Title: Re: DTD Monthly Freezeout Day 1
Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 03, 2009, 07:02:43 PM
whats the start time?

It's meant to be now but there will obviously be a tiny delay with everyone around and they're just registering the first 198 entries.

The £50 comp is officially becoming a self-dealt comp.

And now there seems to be a consensus from all those waiting, they're going to set up extra tables and offer people the chance to sit at a self-dealt table which should add another thirty or forty players. There is a LOT of people here.

Lawrence Gosney is down to just 175 according to guest reporter (and playing tonight) Celtic. Apparently he got into a big pot but ended up mucking when he saw his opponent's Tens on a 8-8-2-2-8 board.

ChipRich, Actionman, LeKnave, Mondatoo, Tom Middleton, TommyC (who lost the Nando's flip) have all be put together given that they hadn't bought in early enough...

They will but they're adding another two to it and there is still a HUGE queue of people waiting to buy-in. I think only opening the club an hour before they start might have to be changed next month! ::)

Dingdell here - Flopsy bunny has gone off in search of interesting facts and left his computer unlocked....

Man just cam up to Flopsy, pointed at Simon Trumper and said "I've seen that dealer somewhere before, is he a famous dealer?" Trumper has found his niche at last....

Dingdell here - 264 entries so far and still they keep coming. Opening more tables as quickly as they can - I'm still waiting for a seat - I was late as Tikay told me it started at 8...

Richard Kellett told me an interesting hand where William Martin doubled up during the first level. UTG limps for 50. Martin makes it 200, Richard Kellett calls with nines, now UTG makes it 1,100 and Martin makes it 3,700. Kellet folds, UTG moves in and Martin beats him in the pot with Aces. UTG shows Queens, misses and William Martin now has 20k.

Red Dog is out. First he saw a fourway raised flop with Qs Js, flopped broadway on the A-K-T and then raised a 700 bet and call to 2,000. He and the other player both checked the King on the turn before Red Dog called 4,000 on the river, only to be shown K-T. The rest of his chips went in with K-K on a 7-3-3 board against the same player. Who held 7-7.

Ouch!

Still people queueing. They're now using every table apart from the one I'm on and the 10 marked for cash. Even if their 12 dealers hadn't been sick they wouldn't have had enough to cover everything I reckon!

Snoopy sees a Qc Th 6d flop against another player he bets 600 and is check/called. (Go my 10%!!!)

On the 2c turn, his opponent checks to him and Snoops bets 1,000. Call. (Go my 10%!!!)

On the Tc, Snoops is checked to a third time and he bets 1,500. His opponent min/check-raises to 3,000. Snoops folds after a long dwell. (Go my errr...10%!!!)

Rick Trigg has doubled up with Ad Td vs 8s 7s after getting rather short early on. He has also been opening limping pre. Fire him Flushy!

I don't know how it happened but Tom Middleton either re-raised or raised limpers to about 1,025. Tom Cunningham flat-called and Dave Jones passed.

5h 5s Js

Middleton check/raised Cunningham all-in which the latter duly called with Kh Ks, Middy showing errr Jc 2s...

Tikay, newly appointed dealer of death, put out the Ahrt on the turn and then the Jh on the river...::)

Amusing hand on Table "Limping 33 with 12BB's is ok". Tom Middleton raises from late position, Ismail Yusuf in the big blind reraises and Middleton moves all-in. Yusuf calls.

Middleton: Qs 7d

Yusuf: Errm...Qh 8h

Ks Kd Qd 7s...5d and Yusuf's 8 kicker plays as Middy becomes another player lamenting his useless three pair.

Anyway, moving on. Pete (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=348) Linton (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=348) raises to 675 after one limper and the big blind calls while the limper folds.

The Qd 2d 8h induces an auto-check from the BB which equates to an autobet from Linton, to the tune of 750 which leads to a quick fold of 7h 4h from the big blind. I think half the time, 7-high will be good here...

Tikay gets replaced by a younger, sleeker model at his table. He gets a round of applause which still leads half the room to think he's been knocked out of the tournament, although a few seem confused he lasted so long...

Simon Trumper is still dealing next RookieITB and Paul 'FACT' Garnham.

And now as we're reaching the end of the level it seems everyone who wanted to get into the tournament has been able to. In fadct there is now one unused table in the room, probably for the first time in about 2 hours.

Oh, also spotted is EPT Budapest champion Will Fry, swapping Galway and the Bahamas for his local instead.

Double up for Will Fry right in the last hand of the level.

He was set in on the river of a 6s Ad 3c 7d Kd and made the call with Aspades 7c, ahead of his opponent's Ac Tc. It puts him close to 20k.

Pete Linton bets 3,350 on the river of a 7d 8d 2c 7c Th board, his opponent makes the call on the end and Pete flips the 'missed one but hit the other' Jd 9d. He's up to about 25,000. Next to him James Edgington appears to have almost 20,000 also.

That McBag fella was right..............these updates are **************...........that poor Snoops working on his own doing updates on nearly 300 runners, probably having to deal a bit too.......................and finally you go get a videocam to put vids up and theres none yet on this update no wonder the shareholders can't get a decent price for their shares................if all else fails I say bring back Jeeves.

Before I forget thanks Snoops for some excellent updates even allowing for the lack of help from that Floppy fella.

Pete Linton has busted another player. A flop of T-8-7 fit well with his 9c 6c, especially when his opponent bet out almost double the pot. Pete shoved and his opponent called with A-T. And missed.

Tom Middleton has been knocked out by ChipRich, all-in preflop with J-8 against Rich's Q-Q. By the river, Middy had two pair but Rich had a set of Queens. Daniel Rudd has taken his seat.

Neil Blatchley is out, Q-T against Richard Berridge's K-Q.

Richard Kellett has suffered a fairly sizeable loss, down to 4,000 after A-J on a A-J-3 board against 3-3.

Sometimes, when you bear witness to a hand, it hurts even more than when you're in the hand and lose it.

Example:

Early position raise to 800 and a reraise to 2,600. RookieITB passes eights. The OR calls.

8h 4d Qh

Check, 2,600 more. Call.

Jh

Check, the reraiser bets 4,000. Quick call from OR.

2d

The OR checks, the RR now asks how much the OR has back. It's about 6.5k. The RR bets 7k and the OR launches into a speech saying, "I think you're bluffing, you're always bluffing."

OR makes the call for the rest of his stack. RR taps the table and we get the dance of 'Nobody wants to show'. Finally the reraiser shows Aspades Kh tapping the table. But now the OR shows Ahrt Tc.

Rather than comment on the hand, here is a picture of Rookie after the hand. I like to think he's just not sure whether to laugh or cry.

He was all-in with Kc Jh against 3d 3h and Ahrt Qd.

Nice quote from the 3's who said, in all seriousness, "Well, I'm ahead."

6c 2h Js 6d 9s was the board and Rupinder was up to 11k after a piece of supreme binkage there.

Here he is, post bink.

Anyone want to guess whose stack is this and hence therefore could possibly be chipleader at this moment?

RookieITB is out. A-K vs 8-8. Eight on the flop. Still, the silver lining is that he now has even more flip tokens for tomorrow. :)

Meanwhile Wick Twigg is bemoaning his bad luck...

"I know everyone thinks I run so well here, but I don't! It gets passed to the small blind and he makes up and I make it 500 more with A-A. He calls and the flop is T-9-7, we get it in and he has J-8."

"How much do you have now?"

"Only 35k...But I would've had 55k!"

Jen raises to 1,200 from the cutoff and Rudders pushes for about 3k more from the button. A wince and a call.

Jen: Qs Th

Rudders: Kd Qd

7d 2c Kc 4d 7s

Rudders up to about 9k, Jen down to 4k.

Daniel Rudd is out, a 10BB push from the button with Kd 5d, call from the small blind with 8-8. No binkage.

Since you're all too scared to guess who the big stack is (apart from bolt who I assume looks like the Tazmanian Devil on Ketamine) I can reveal it is....PI Dick Slade.

Snoops -- 5k
Pete Linton -- 30k

Chip Rich lost a 40k flip with A-K vs Q-Q cut-off against button. He's down to 7k.

Jen is out. A-2 against Ali Mallu's J-T.

Dingdell is also gone. All-in with Kings against Jacks on a 2-2-3 flop. Jack on the turn...

Snoopy is out. A push with 7-2 suited from the cutoff couldn't defeat the A-K behind him.

Chip Rich is out. "I flip so bad, I jam 9k over the top of a raise of 2,100 with nines, he tanks and calls with A-J and binks an ace on the river..."

Rupinder Bedi has quadrupled up. He pushed all-in preflop and got 3 callers. After the flop he nudged me and showed me his 4h 3h, which looked fairly promising after the 8h 7d Qh flop. Two of the other hands went into a raising war and got it all-in in a side pot with Qs 2s and Aspades Qd

Another bink on the Jh turn and the Ahrt river didn't matter giving Bedi a quadruple up while the A-Q took a decent side pot.

I'm gonna have to start charging for my clear heater skillz.

Splash/Wonkyjim/Not Martin Freeman due to haircut just told me of a circumstance where a player in seat 9 raised with Kings and saw someone with Queens reraise to 10k. Mr Kings made a hand gesture saying, "All-in" but the dealer thought he had passed his cards and put them into the muck. He was forced to pay the 10k reraise with no hand.

Simon Trumper explained that dealer error was unfortunate, but when in seat 1 or 9, you have to protect your cards. "In the Bellagio, the 'all-in' declaration would have counted and he would've lost his whole stack. It's horrible I know, but you have to protect your cards."

In about 45 minutes/after the next level.

Though I'm wondering if they don't decide to play a couple more...

Chili is out, 3 limpers, she raises 3,600 from a 12k stack. Limper number two sets her in. She calls with kings, he has 3-5 suited. 6-5-5 flop, and that is a hurter.

Nick Jenkins has 6k. "In Tikay mode all day!"
