Big 2nd day wish I could have got there, William Martins aces put paid to that dream, top bloke though.

Simon and the team keep doing everything right and the numbers keep growing - well done.

Final for Tony Decesera, Stuart Langford, Paul Newman, Matt Cartwright, Sean Mason, Gaz Purewal, Desi. Nick Slade is due a result and Carl Hoefkens could round off a good weekend after his first start for a while.

Off to Stoke now, hopefully not playing the £75 later.

Successfully managed to get out of bed and down to DTD where we actually have 89 players remaining led by Pete Linton. Expect a severe culling of the field fairly early on.

The debagging is already underway and we'll be starting shortly.

Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 04, 2009, 02:08:50 PM
Antonio Dicesare is one of the first casualties, didn't see his cards, just a raggy King high board and his chips being shipped to another player's Aces.

Rupinder Bedi has lost most of his stack with Kd Qd vs Jh Jd on a topsy turvy Ts Ks Qh Js 3c board.

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 04, 2009, 02:17:43 PM
Double up for LeKnave. Shahnawaz Randera raised preflop from early position and LeKnave reraised to 12k next to him. This convinced Alan Armitage to pass Jacks, though he looked gutted when Randera put LeKnave in for his remaining chips and got a call.

Randera: 6h 6s

LeKnave: 8s 8d

9d Ahrt Jd 2h Qd

Paul Garnham has doubled through Pete Linton with Kings vs Queens.

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 04, 2009, 02:21:11 PM
Actionman Wick Trigg has lost a small chunk of his stack, doubling up Waseem Ahmed with A-J vs T-T after a bricky board.

Pete Linton bets 4,900 on a Jh 3c 5d flop but gives up when James Edgington makes it 14,000.

LeKnave bets 4,500 on a Qd Qs 3s, he gets min-check/raised by Graham Pound, but the latter folds when LeKnave shoves.

WonkyJim/Splash/Not Martin Freeman is down to 20k after getting it all-in preflop with Kings against Mark Craig's Queens. The Td Qh 6h Qd 6s board proving quite clinical.

Not been a good day for Rick Trigg. He repopped a late position raiser from 3,200 to 9,800 having looked at one card, before shipping in with A-3 on a 5h 2h 2c flop only to be called by the OR's Jh 8h which made the flush on the turn. He's now nursing a short stack.

Cong Khanh Le has doubled through Kuljinder Sidhu with Qc 9c vs Aspades Kh for a healthy looking pot after the two got into a preflop raising war. Le spiked a Queen on the turn to win.

Des Jonas raises to 6,000 with about the same behind. Stuart Langford and Pete Singleton call.

Jc 7c 8d

Singleton checks, Jonas moves all-in and Langford passes. Singleton makes the call.

Jonas: Jh Td

Singleton: 9h 8h

Ts

"Awww, no" says Jonas.

9c

"Heheheheh, chop it up, chop it up, chop it up!"

Rick Trigg, Rupinder Bedi and Garinder Purewal.

Purewal is struggling due to the fact his cards are made of uranium and clearly too heavy to pick up, Bedi is stirring an invisible cup of coffee with an equally invisible spoon while Trigg is just thinking that last night's curry was probably a bad idea...

Cong Khanh Le and Kuljinder Sidhu continue to spar. This time getting it all-in on a 9s 7h 6s board with 3d 3c and Ahrt 9h respectively, 9d and Ad on the turn and river put Sidhu even further ahead as he regains the vast majority of the chips he'd lost to Le earlier.

Rupinder Bedi is out. He lost with A-K against Jacks and then pushed Q-T from the small blind into the big blind's A-5. "He ran really badly today," said Rick Trigg.

Trigg -- 47k
James Brunskill -- 18k

LeKnave -- See below

Leknave raised preflop and blondeite Nirvana moved all-in from I think the small blind, they had about equal stacks of around 40k and LeKnave eventually called.

LeKnave: 7h 7d
Nirvana: Qs Qc

7s Ac Ahrt Ks 3d

Hence LeKnave up to about 80k and Nirvana left with fumes.

Unlucky in the comp Rooks.  88 not a hand you want to see again for a while I guess.

Rich nearly cleared a hundo, but lost the flip for Mcd's so I had two big breakfasts and just binned one obv.

I won in the game, and Leknave unsuprisingly.

Wei Cheng raises (I think all-in) from the big blind after a load of limpers. The second or third limper makes the call with 8c 8d. Wei Cheng shows erm...4s 2h

Kh 5c 3d 7s Ac

Cheng goes absolutely beserk screaming around the cardroom to the pint where practically everyone else in the cardroom is silent and looking at him slightly bemused

Richard Sherwood has some far crazier "glasses", but maybe he hasn't felt like wearing them just yet.

How is he(aka Forrester) doing right now?

You haven't made much mention of him, even though he is one of your Blonde lot.

They check the A-J-3-3-9 board all the way to the river where Berridge bets 7,500. Fry folds and Berridge smirks, showing A-A.

Fry: 9c 9s

Orme: Aspades Ts

Will Fry up to about 80k.

James Edgington aka AgentChip109 has knocked out Kujinder Sidhu after Sidhu pushed from the blinds with K-5 against the button raise from Edgington, holding 4-4. The flop seemingly favoured the short stack, coming Q-J-T but blanks on the turn and river put pay to his hopes and Edgington is back over 100k.

Nirvana has managed a miraculous comeback from one blind. A bit of luck with A-T against Jim Moult's A-K but he's managed to recover and is back up to 80k.

Jim Moult is on 40k.

John Deeley raises preflop on the button and Garinder Purewal and Mark Craig call from the blinds.

4s 9h 7d

Check to the raiser, who bets a smallish 11k. Purewal calls and Craig folds.

Jd

Check check.

Jc

Check check.

Purewal shows 8c 8h and it's good. He's chopped two DTD £300's recently, can he do a third?

William Martin moves all-in preflop, Shane Fyffe moves all-in behind him and then so does Rick Trigg.

Martin: Ahrt Kd

Fyffe: Ac Qs

Trigg: Js Jh

9s Qd ("Yeeeeeeeeees!!!" screams Fyffe) Ks ("YEEEEEEEEEEEAH" screams Martin) 2c 4d...

Fyffe is eliminated and William Martin takes the pot and strikes a kind of boyband type pose in this photo. Trigg left with about 40k.

Mark Craig raises to 9k from the hijack. Jim Peppercorn moves all-in from the cutoff for about 30k. The button folds and then Darren Pound reraises all-in for 90k. Jim Moult is in the big blind and thinks for ages about a call which would cost most of his stack...He eventually folds and Craig also releases his hand. Moult confesses he passed Queens but much to his chagrin Pound and Peppercorn (that sounds like a pub tbh) both flip A-K and the board runs out 8h 5h 8d Qh 5s. Jim looks a bit annoyed with himself.

James Edgington raises to 11k from UTG, Matt Cartwright makes it 42k from midposition, back to Edgington who moves all-in for 94.7k. Cartwright is forced to call.

Cartwright: Aspades Qs

Edgington: Kc Kh

8d 8s 5c 9h Ac

A cruel blow for AgentChip109 who becomes our bubble boy and was last seen heading outside. Presumably to vomit multiple times.

Just before the bubble we lost Richard Berridge, Pete Singleton and Garinder Purewal. The latter of these lamenting his bad luck, holding A-2 on an A-2-J board against A-K, the turn is a Jack. Then he has J-T on a Q-J-8 board vs A-8, the turn was an Ace.

Jim Moult is 'bookiebasher'. He's just knocked out Darren Pound with Queens against Jacks to put himself over 400k and probable chip leader.

Two more go.

Dean Pearson pushes the cutoff for 80k and Wei Cheng (him with 4-2 from earlier) tanks for ages from the small blind before calling with Ac Jd. Pearson shows a dominated Jc 7h.

8d Qc 6c Ahrt 3h board later and it's over.

On the other table Gareth Compton pushes with 5h 4h but runs into Matt Cartwright's 9d 9h.

Jim Peppercorn doubles through Jim Moult to 200k with Aspades Kc vs Kh Qd all-in preflop with the board coming out 7h 7c Js Ahrt Jd.

Moult down to 300k.

On the other table Gareth Compton goes out in 14th place when he runs Tens into Julian Lefevre's Aces.

On a break.

Jim Moult explained the hand where he regained much of his stack by getting very lucky in the 1.5k/3k level when UTG raised to 9k and the button moved in for about 50k with Nines. Jim shoved from the blinds with Kings for 40k and then UTG called with Aces.

The board ran out A-x-Q-J-T!

Oooh, that Mr Matt Cartwright is a lucky boy.

He raised to 23k from the cutoff, only for Will Fry to reraise from the big blind to 65k with about 155k back.

After a minute or two Cartwright moves all-in. Fry instantly calls.

And Jim Moult goes out in 10th place. He must have lost a couple of pots while I was writing up the other hands as he reraised all-in with A-9 from the big blind against Jim Peppercorn's button raise. Peppercorn proved too spicy with Tens to win I think a 400k pot leaving Moult with only 5k left which went in the next hand to Matt Cartwright

We now have a final table!

No he said got what he wanted, fairly philosophical about it (something an EPT champ can afford that the rest of us can't). Of course that hasn't stopped him telling all his mates in the £75 event about how unlucky he was!

Cartwright thought that because Fry took so long to reraise he didn't have a big hand.

William Martin limps UTG for 12k, Anutr Amranand follows suit from the cutoff. But then Jim Peppercorn spoils the party...or does he? He makes it 40k which is less a raise than a pot sweetner. Habib Chatoo folds in the big blind but the limpers call, and the pot is getting big with almost 150k in there...

Anutr Amranand limps in the small blind for 12k. Jim Peppercorn makes it an additional 45k. Amranand moves all-in for what must be nearly 600k which seems utterly crazy because they are the two biggest stacks on the table. Peppercorn folds.

I'm completely baffled by that hand.

Some guy on the rail shouts, "Split pot! It's a split pot," until it's pointed out that Chatoo's Kings and Queens with a Jack kicker wins.

Someone murmurs behind me, "And that's why you're on the rail."

Julian Lefevre is out in 7th place winning £2,955

Habib's nickname in my old gala days was 'The caller' which may give a bit of an insight into his game. Jack Ten is also his favourite hand and will not fold it. ever.

Really nice man.

Great updates guys. Looks like Martin should have this one on lock.

No wonder none of you are posting. Whenever any of you mention a player they get busted!

Anutr Amranand raised preflop and Chatoo makes the call.

Ks Ts 8d

Chatoo checks, Amranand bets 75k and Chatoo moves all-in for about 500k. Amranand calls sharpish with the royal flush drawing Aspades Js against Chatoo's Kh 9s.

No help.

Habib Chatoo is out in 6th place winning £3,800

Amranand looks to be the first player over the 1 million mark, and has more tha 1/3 of the chip in play with five players remaining.

No deals agreed. Anutr Amranand apparently not happy with what he would be getting as chip leader.

Chip counts:

William Martin -- 446k
Sherbel Koumi -- 318k
Matt Cartwright -- 690k
Anutr Amranand -- 1.413 million
Jim Peppercorn -- 518k

Deal discussion continue as we play.

Anutr Amranand was happy to do a chip count deal which would've netted everyone at least £10k with him taking £18k but William Martin wants to leave something to play for, so it doesn't look like that would happen.

Well it's getting a bit farcical now. They've been arguing out a deal for about 15 minutes and it's not seemingly getting anywhere. I don't think William Martin is totally convinced to deal but some of the others seem desperate. Either way I hope they hurry up, there's been about 3 hands this level including that Jacks fold which was obviously caused by all the discussion. I hope they decide to sort it in the next few minutes or just carry on playing.

Interesting sidepoint, would Tikay fold the Jacks?

A £10k deal to Peppercorn, Koumi, Martin with £11k for Cartwright and £14k for Amranand with I think £9k to play for was proposed.

Simon Trumper asked Jim Peppercorn and Sharbel Koumi if they were both happy with the deal and both said they were. William Martin said he wasn't happy, and if people are folding jacks to a 3-bet five-handed, then you can see why he wants to continue. So now we are playing...

Button vs big blind and given that you've shown you're prepared to fold a big hand like aces up to a small reraise should widen the range of your opponent significantly if they think can make you fold almost anything other than the nuts.

And even if none of the above was occuring, I would still call super fast.

But Jim clearly wants to consolidate and take home a decent score, which is his choice.

Martin: Ahrt Th

Amranand: 6c 7c

2c 2s 8s 5s 8h

Martin gets a big double up, propelling himself to chip leader and over the million mark, Amranand has about 400k left.

Sharbel Koumi raises to 174k on the button (yes, the blinds are 12k/24k, yes that is not a typo, I feel like I should write it out in letters like the old vidiprinter on Grandstand when one team beat another by a really large number of goals). Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=271) Cartwright (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=271) moves all-in. Koumi calls.

Koumi: Kh Kc

Cartwright: Ac Jc

And now Koumi is the big chip leader with about 1.7 million chips and Cartwright is nearly as short as Amranand.

William Martin and Matt Cartwright get it all-in preflop and this time Koumi who has raised every hand somehow folds eights.

Martin: Kh Th

Cartwright: Ac 3d

Qc 5h 9h 4c Jc

The Martin river binkage continues...he doubles and Cartwright is the superduper shorty now.

Koumi raises again, he makes it 280k this time...Cartwright calls off his 250k stack and Martin folds.

Actually this hand was going to unavoidable...

Koumi: Th Ts

Cartwright: Kd Kc

9h 5h 3s Jd Ac

Cartwright back over 500k or as I might start calling it, 'A Double Koumi raise'.

Koumi has now stopped raising anything. In fact, they've all stopped raising or doing anything other than minbetting at any point. The dynamic has swung from a 30BB AIPF shovefest to a cautious limpathon...

But that's not the worst thing...The worst thing is, I really need the loo, but I can't go atm. :(

I think DTD had it right when they only allowed chip count deals,
perhaps they should go back to that format.

I also think if they make it a £50k guarantee every month they will get the same numbers turning up...

great event, great structure, I'm off to bed now....so

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE ON BLONDE

Matt Cartwright moves all-in from the small blind. Call from William Martin.

Martin: Ac Ts

Cartwright: Ahrt 7d

5s 8s 9h 7h Qs

And with that river, Cartwright doubles up again...

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2

William Martin pushes his sorry remnants of a stack in the middle. Koumi makes the call.

Martin: 5c 5d

Koumi: Tc 9c

2c 9d Qd Js 2h

William Martin is OUT in 3rd and wins £12,000

And heads-up has already begun! Aren't they meant to have a quick break!!?!?!?  >:( >:( >:(

Koumi raises to 175k. Shove from Cartwright and...............fold!

Koumi shows an ace as he mucks. Then so does Cartwright.

Oh those wacky funsters! Whatever will they think of next?

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 05, 2009, 02:55:32 AM
Matt Cartwright is now seemingly out-Koumi-ing Koumi. He's pushed twice versus sizeable raises and got them through, and now he's just open-pushed for about 1.5 million from the button/small blind to win the blinds and antes once more. They're basically even at this point.

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 05, 2009, 02:57:07 AM
A rarity in this 20k/40k/4k level. A limped pot.

The flop is Ahrt 8d 6s.

Cartwright checks, Koumi bets 200k. Fold.

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 05, 2009, 03:03:17 AM
Another of the now obviously more common occurences, another limped pot.

Ad 9h 7d

Check check.

8c

Cartwright goes to check and knocks over his entire stack of 25k chips. I try and think of a way to work this into a joke like, "That's the most big chip action I've seen in ages, ho ho ho!" but can't think of one. Koumi checks behind.

6d

Cartwright bets 125k. Fold from Koumi.

Snoopy has gone home, Jen is playing some lairy PLO game with Richard Rudling-Smith amongst others.

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 05, 2009, 03:06:12 AM
Cartwright has taken over the chip lead with about 1.7 million to 1.3 million

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: NoflopsHomer on January 05, 2009, 03:11:45 AM
Cartwright limps for 40k. Koumi shoves all-in for about 1.3 million. Cartwright quickly calls.

Koumi: Ahrt 6d

Cartwright: 8c 8s

Td Jh Qs 8h Ts

And that rivered house means Sharbel Koumi  is OUT in 2nd place winning £13,000

And...

Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=271) Cartwright (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=271) wins the January DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) £300 event for £15,940

If deals make people play so recklessly, surely they favour better players.  For instance the final hand of 88 vs A6; an easy trap to set against a hugely over-betting player. wp

the deal done here didn't favour the better players..(as the play after the deal was done proves)

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: The_Kid on January 05, 2009, 06:46:48 AM
Granted it seemed a bit of a joke from the updates.  But what I'm saying is that whether a deal is done or not, some players adjust incorrectly to the prize structure and this favours better players.  Whether this manifests in the JJ fold or the x million BB shove with 44 after the deal.
Cheers,
E.B

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 - Day 2
Post by: thetank on January 05, 2009, 07:00:41 AM
It's a fair point Mr. Kid.

I imagine the player in question would give away more equity in plays like the JJ fold pre-deal than in stuff like the 30BB shove afterwards though.

The oppurtunity to nibble at their stacks and gain chips with less risk etc. being lost after the deal.

I dunno, it's an interesting one.

Wei Cheng moves all-in for 87k. Matt (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=271) Cartwright (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=271) calls on the button. Jim Peppercorn thinks about it for a moment in the big blind, but decides it's too salty for him.

Cartwright: Jh Jd

Cheng: Errrm...3h 2s

Th 9d 5h 6d Qs

Wei Cheng is OUT in 8th place winning £2,111

Not meaning to sound bitter and twisted or anything, but I will.  How in hell's great ass did this Cheng person make it all the way to 8th and £2k??

He was the villian who made a shocking play V MOI Kings pre flop to knock me out with 3 5 yesterday.  Today he was heard screaming and shouting when his he reraised all in with 2 4 and found himself against Aces (pattern forming here!) only to see an A 3 5 flop!  Then THIS!

 rotflmfao rotflmfao

gg

signed A Sigh Just Sigh

God only knows Maria

Was such a shame to, put an end to Trigg's singing!

I was on his table from the start till he knocked me out at 3am. (He actually had a respectable hand!)

We had him down to 3k in about an hour of it starting, unfortunately he made it all back and more.

Surprised he didnt win it to be honest, seems to be the way it works!  ;)
