Title: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: snoopy1239 on February 26, 2009, 03:34:30 AM Tikay-O, Lord of the Thunderblondes, meets his second in command and most trusted protector, Tightgra, at the blonde's Lair. "What is it?" asks Tikay-O while stroking his mane inquisitively. "Great news," replies Tightgra, his tail swishing excitedly behind him. "We can update Walsall!" "How so?" asks Tikay-O with his whiskers a quiver. "We have no milk with which to bargain with." "Oh contrare, Lord Tikay-O," comes the response. "There has been a donation." "But from who?"
The door slides open and in pounces Chompthro, his trusted fighting stick in one hand, and a bowel of milk in the other. Tightgra's eyes bulge as he spots the milk. "I am the mystery sponsor, your Lord." "Chompthro!" exclaims Tikay-O. "It cannot be, you haven't won a comp since the eighties. Have you struck gold in the Third Earth lottery?" "No, Lord Tikay-O, I managed to sell the Hoverblonde for this bowel of milk, with which we can now use to pay an updater at Walsall." "Why Chompthro, you're a genius," praises Tikay-O. "We never needed that bloody thing anyway. I mean, we're not Top Gear, how many vehicles do we want, what's wrong with just using the blondeTank?" "Well, I like the Tank, my Lord, but he's not the brightest." "No, I mean the vehicle, you buffoon." "I agree with you, Lord Tikay-O," purrs Tightgra excitedly. "We don't do EPTs anymore, so we have no need for the Hoverblonde, and I do love a spot of milk. Is it Pasteurised?" As Tikay-O goes to take the milk, Chompthro pulls back. "There's one condition though," he warns. "My arch nemesis and ever-living source of evil, Sicilian-Ra, must be insulted in the tournament clock." "This can be arranged," answers Tightgra swiftly. "Sicillian-Ra has a Broadband connection in the Black Pyramid and will undoubtedly read the insult." On that reassuring note, Chompthro passes Tikay-O the milk. "But who can we lure in with our newly acquired milk at such short notice?" asks Tightgra worriedly. "Don't worry," calms Tikay-O as he casually lifts his sword into the air. "THUNDER!" Tikay-O swipes the air with his sword like a child with a light saber. "THUNDER!... THUNDER!" Tightgra checks his watch and waves his hand impatiently. "THUNDERBLONDES HOOOOOOOOOO!!!" There's a flash of light and, from the pulsating Eye of the Thundera, a giant symbol of a blonde poker chip with a naked woman in the middle appears in the sky. "Wow, you can see the nipples when it's that big." observes Tightgra as his tail wags frantically. "Is she the Ho?" asks Chompthro. In a nearby village, former Thunderblondes WilySnoopy and WilyFloppy are participating in a spot of heads up for rolls. "You're getting pwned, ya fish," slates WilyFloppy. As WilySnoopy looks up at the summons in the sky, WilyFloppy swipes some chips from his stack. "Lolz, I wonder what they want," ponders WilySnoopy. "They probably want us to update Walsall, imo" replies WilyFloppy, adding the chips to his own stack. "I read it on the forum earlier." "Well, I'd hate to be greedy, Grosvenor Walsall is possibly the most exotic location on Third Earth with its er... nearby cinema and stuff. Why don't you take the job?" "No, 'fraid not, it's my mother's birthday. You should go." WilySnoopy rubs his chin pensively. "Well, I suppose they do have a free buffet. It's not tez is it?" "[ ] Course not, it's tippety-top," replies WilyFloppy rubbing his stomach. "Yum yum, Walsall buffet ftw." "Well, in that case, I'll do it." WilyFloppy sniggers mischievously as WilySnoopy jumps on his tractor and makes his way towards the giant chip. WilySnoopy joins Tikay-O, Tightgra and Chompthro in the blonde's Lair. "Thanks for offering to update, WilySnoopy," says Tikay-O. "There's a bowel of milk in it for you if you can survive three days." Tightgra turns to Chompthro and whispers, "Ha, he wont' stand a chance going solo with that field, he'll collapse before the end of Day 2 and that bowel of milk will be all mine... all mine! You hear me, aaaaall mineeeee!!! Moahahahaha!" "Yes, I hear you," growls Chompthro. "Stop shouting, you're meant to be whispering." WilySnoopy looks over suspiciously as Tightgra licks his lips. "Survival will be easy," claims WilySnoopy confidently, as I have a secret weapon. Suddenly, the window flings open, a pole hits the floor and in vaults LittleMissCheetara, notepad and pen in hand. "Meet my helper for the weekend," continues WilySnoopy. Tightgra's shoulders drop. "Oh fiddlesticks, I really wanted that bowel of milk." "Come on, hop to it!" orders LittleMissCheetara as she pokes WilySnoopy's tush with her pole. "Can't stand around here all day, we've got an update to do." Yes, although you had dreams of others, I'm afraid you've been lumbered with me. Like Hulk Hogan answering the call of Vince McMahan for a one off Wrestlemania appearance, I just couldn't resist the fabric of blonde's fibre and so immediately revved up the ol' tractor and zipped my way down the M1.
Today should you be your usual affair, Golden Yoyo Balls gambling early doors, The Worm grinding like no man has ever ground before, Neil Channing grinning like the Joker as scoops up the chip, and Red-Dog getting in his Full English before the close of level one. Whatever happens, I shall be on hand, and at ringside, to collate as much information as is humanly possible with the aid of my trusted assistant for the day, littlemissC. Think Paul Daniels and Debbie Magee. Play starts at 2pm sharp, so be there, or be circle. Shit, is that the time, must dash. Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: snoopy1239 on February 26, 2009, 02:02:19 PM According to my insider, we're about ten minutes away from kick off here at Grosvenor Walsall, although the history books would suggest otherwise. As you can see, the chips are out and the dealers are poised like coiled springs for action. We've even got the press (although sadly no wireless internet connection). All we need now is the players, who seem to be spread across the roulette wheel, bar and the M6 motorway (not literally lying across the motorway).

Mick McCloskey Jonothon Butters Dave Smith Steve Jelinek Greek Jack Trevor Reardon Zac Ford Dave Colclough Roberto Romanello Ian Woodley Andreas Hoivold Chris Bruce Joe Grech Dave Penly One table in particular looks rather menacing and includes: Jeff Buffenbarger Iwan Jones Tim Flanders Pippa Flanders (cough - collusion!!!) Marcus Bebb-Jones Andrew Bradshaw Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: snoopy1239 on February 26, 2009, 02:46:57 PM A player list has been received and will be published shortly. But before then, news of Tony Phillip's rise to 15,000. In a multi-way limped pot, he saw a cheap Ks 4d 5c flop with 8c 6c. There was a small bet of 175 with three callers, one of whom was the ginger ninja. With a 9c hitting the turn, Woodley bet 1,300 and Phillips called. On the 2c river (money card!), it was Phillips who came out firing, to the tune of 4,000, and Woodley called... and mucked.
Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: snoopy1239 on February 26, 2009, 02:50:33 PM There's a real mixed bag here today, but this table in particular seems to be brimming with youth with the likes of James Keys, Rick Trigg, Jerome Bradpiece, Tony Phillips and co locking horns. "Who are the ThunderCats?" asked a puzzled Phillips to Fran earlier today.

Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: snoopy1239 on February 26, 2009, 03:00:19 PM I join the action on the river of an 8d 3s 9h 8h Jd board, Matthew Roberts having flung out a bet of 2,500 on the end. Trying to gauge a reaction, Welsh rascal Roberto (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=376) Romanello (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=376) picks up his chips and goes to throw them in, but halts his action at the last second. "Is that allowed?" asked his neighbour inquisitively. It's academic, nonetheless, as Romanello does indeed make the call, only to be met by 9c 8c for the full house. "Someone called a ruling on me before," added Romanello. "It's okay as long as chips aren't released."
Meanwhile, on another table, John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=217) Shipley (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=217) is suffering a similar descent. He bet out 3,500 on a Js Qh Th 9h 8h board, only for opponent Andy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=32) Miles (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=32) to go into the tank whilst mumbling the word sick under his breath. "I bet you've got the jack of hearts," he sighed before eventually making the call with Ahrt Ks. But his fears were unjustified as Shipley shows Ks Kh for the turned straight, and the inferior flush. A simple affair according to roving reporter Fran, all the spondoolies flying in on an king high flop with Greco's aces a country mile ahead of Trigger's A-K. Before that hand, I also saw Greco reach the river of a 7s 9h Qc Kc Aspades with Jerome (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199) Bradpiece (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199). After the turn was checked by both parties, Greco paused momentarily on the end, before moving all in for 3,750. As Bradpiece tanked, Greco remained sitll as water, his experience in front of the camera over the years perhaps aiding his ability to remain composed. After a minute or two, Bradpiece made the fold, and Greco took the pot. Can you do me a favour and wish Martyn Cavanagh and Roberto some good luck for the tourney, both of whom are more than capable of winning it.... I will be checking up on their progress till I leave the office. Prediction : Martyn, Iwan, Roberto for 1st, 2nd, 3rd.... any order will do. Cheers mate, and thanks for the updates. "Did you see that pot there?" he asked. "It crippled me." As I reluctantly confessed to missing it (I'm an updater, it's my job to listen to repetetive anecdotes), Jelinek began his tale of woe. "The flop was 9-8-4, and Dave Smith bet out. I had 7-6 and made the call. I hit the five turn and called a big bet, but the river came a four, and after I called 3,000 on the end, he showed 9-9 for the house."
As a result, Jelinek is now down to a paltry 3,000. At the other end of the see-saw, Smith shoots up to 14,000. Positioned under-the-gun with 8c 8s, it looks as though he made a raise preflop and was called behind by Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) in the cut-off with Ts 7s. Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: snoopy1239 on February 26, 2009, 05:12:25 PM Dave Colclough has eliminated John Tabatabai, and although Jon Kalmar tried to make El Blondie "look like a fish" by reporting that "he called an all-in with ace high", he had a rather big ace in A-K. Still, Tabatabai had queens, so it was your classic coin-flip, and one in which the veteran took down when a second bullet hit the board.

With over 10,000 already in the pot, Yu was unable to fold his Kd Ks, and his worst fears were cemented as Hassan flipped over Jh Js for the flopped set. An Ac on the river made no difference, and Hassan snapped up the pot.

Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: snoopy1239 on February 26, 2009, 05:24:37 PM Can you guess which one of these young dudes just hit the deck?
(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=25262&g2_serialNumber=1) (http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=25264&g2_serialNumber=1) Nope, it's not a double bluff like Brucie used to do on Place Your Cards Right - Sam Trickett has indeed been eliminated. It took two hands in the end, although I think the first one perhaps made the biggest dent. With all the chips going in for a 33,000 pot, Trickett's pocket kings looked in superb shape against Josh Tyler's pocket queens, but a lesbian threesome on the flop left Trickett with just a couple of hundred chips and an aburpt end to what I'm sure was an otherwise enjoyable massage. "I might as well pay you now," suggested Trickett as he rose from his seat and donned his coat. He was right to be lacking confidence, as it was a repeat performance on the next hand, Zachary Ford hammering in the final nail with Ks Tc versus Kd Js on an ensuing Td 4d 7s 8h Qh, the first card being the crucial one on both occasions. Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: littlemissC on February 26, 2009, 05:26:12 PM A few chip counts and tales from the players
Firstly Julian is back up to 11k after being down to 2.5k..he found QQ in a 6 way limped pot and moved all in no callers then raised with Qh Jh and made a flush on a scary paired board but was good I then wandered over to Nickys table to see he had quite a few more chips..he told me he has just been playing alot of pots but won a decent pot from chris Bruce with AK v JJ Nicky made it 450 utg called in 2 spots then chris made it 2400,called by nicky passed everywhere else Flop came K 2 3 chris bets 2700 nicky calls, turn 4 check check, river Q check check nicky wins the pot There were apparently 3diamonds out which slowed the action Nicky said he had raised 6 hands that orbit before that hand so Chris should know he had to have a hand there Nicky 21k Julian 11k Marcus bebbjones 24750 Poppa Flanders 6175 Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: LeKnave on February 26, 2009, 05:28:18 PM Nicky 21k wiiiiiiiiiiiiiii gooo oooonn the lad. The 9h 3h Jd looked safe, as did the Aspades turn, but the 6c river was far from accommodating and the several thousand in the pot went sailing over to the former EPT Grand Final finalist. "I sat, and sat, and waited all day for my A-6," joked The Jelly, who was virtually all in himself.

It's just like a magic eye, and apparently if you look closely enough, you'll eventually be able to see a big giant bifta.

With the board reading Ks 4s Jc 2s 6c, he faced a bet of 2,500 from Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=115) Smith (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=115), which he eventually called with a sigh. "Has he called?" asked Smith before showing Jd Jh. "Aah, I thought you had A-J to be honest," concluded James as he mucked Qd Qd face up.
Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: snoopy1239 on February 26, 2009, 06:03:25 PM Double K.O. now as Darren Hickman jabs with the left and swings with the right to floor not one, but two opponents in one combined motion. I joined the action with the three hands turned over, preflop, Jononthon Butters (mid position) in dominating shape with Aspades Ad versus the Qh Qc of Darren Hickman (big blind) and the Ah Jc of Mick McCloskey (button), the latter in need of a phone call to David Copperfield in order to escape this one. However, it was Hickman who squirmed out of his strait-jacket, the Qd Ts 3h flop giving him the lead with a set of queens. No change on the 4c turn and 2c river, and two men hit the deck simultaneously, Jonothon's toast clearly not buttered on the right side. Hickman now on over 25,000 as a result.

Without two much hesitation, Hassan mirrored his foe and slid his chips across the line.
"Come on then," said James as he rose from his seat. "Who's got the flush?" The decision lay on Trevor Reardon, someone who never makes a rash decision. On this occasion, he looked tortured, his head resting in his hand as he mulled over a seemingly taxing decision. After asking Cavanagh how much he had back (10,000 was the answer), Reardon abruptly grabbed a column of high denomination chips and plonked them across the line, as if to say, "Fuck it, let's dance". But his expression soon turned sour as Cavanagh flipped over Kc Tc for the flopped flush. Reardon tried to muck into his cards, so it was clear he was drawing dead, but the dealer turned them over anyhow to reveal Aspades Qc, thus making the river academic. In fact, I won't even tell you what that river was. How do you like that?
Reardon now down to his starting stack after that recent misstep. This isn't a random fan on the rail, it's Karl Fenton, staring back at the table and wondering why he's out. All in with sixes versus the tens of Marcus-Bebb Jones, Hussain will have been mighty relieved to have seen a six hit the flop, especially with a ten already exposed. However, this is a pastime for those with hard skins, and with just one negative card in the deck, out it came on the river to give Bebb-Jones the bigger set. You'd need skin made of leather to take take that one.

Ahrt Ac Iwan Jones has 18,000 and Martyn Cavanagh has 37,000. The board came 5s Td 8c Js 6h, allowing Carter, who was looming over the table, to breath a big sigh of relief. That defeat leaves Reardon with a lowly 10,000. Title: Re: BlueSquare.com GUKPT Walsall - Day 1A Post by: snoopy1239 on February 27, 2009, 12:34:25 AM Whilst I have a spare moment, we lost Ash Pervais earlier on in the level. I joined the action with the board reading Kd 4s 8h 4d Aspades and Josh Tyler punching the air in delight with 8d 8c versus Ahrt 5h. "Yes, yes, come on!" he exclaimed with his arms aloft. "Who won that hand?" joked Martyn Cavanagh from a nearby table. "Get it quietly, Josh. You're an adult." tutted Paul Bracken from the rail (he may also have used a rude word that may not slip through our filter). "Get it quietly?" added Jim Reid. "This kid doesn't do it quietly."
Nevertheless, Tyler did indeed take the pot, to give himself a stack of 50,000. Pervais, meanwhile, was left with just several thousand, which went in a hand or two later with Ahrt 8h versus Qh 8d. But when the chips are down, the Poker Gods show no mercy, and as the board came Qs 3d 5d Kd 7s Pervais merely chuckled, said nice hand and wished his opponents good luck. "There has been a donation." "But from who?" The door slides open and in pounces Chompthro, his trusted fighting stick in one hand, and a bowel of milk in the other. "Can't stand around here all day, we've got an update to do." Out of turn verbal declarations are still binding. It was announced at the beginning of every tournament this week. So far it has caused no problems. Lets leave further discussion of this for another thread. Stopping the clock and playing 8 extra hands - if we had not done this it is likely that only 5 more hands would have been played due to people slow playing, so it enables more play not less. Slow playing is bad etiquette and has no place in the modern game. |
