Co-pilot Claw checked in and ready for action.  The clawchester-kev combo can only be good news for norkage fans of every persuasion, as while Kev does his usual totty search I'll be on the lookout for the best male specimens London's premier cardroom has to offer.  Welcome to nork-wars!  If there's time between talent-spotting we'll post the odd update on the card game, so don't be shy with your requests!

Good luck Kev and Claw, enjoy!

Hope you get to sit ringside otherwise....enjoy the walk :)

Best of luck to my housemate Evans, who continues his scintillating absolute luckboxery run of form in live comps. He is clear favourite for 2nd imo.

Also best of luck to Jen, who despite not playing is 125-1 to win according to blue square's list of odds. Girl's got skills!

If either of the updaters can get a pic of the winner holding a sign saying "I'm on a boat!" I will be forever in your debt.

If no one knows what I'm on about, pls investigate.

Kev and I are currently battling with the technology, but hopefully all will be well by the time things kick off.  In the meantime, here's a norkage pic which should cater to everyone's tastes...

No news of Bobalike Lite's demise yet, so we can only presume Celtic still has chips or has snuck out quietly.

Just a reminder guys, that we have Corporate Sponsors for almost all of the GUKPT Season, & the DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) £300's & Biggies, but we had no sponsor for this.

Until Chompy & BobAlike stepped forward, & met the cost.

Our thanks to them both.

Without them there would be no blonde Update for this Event.

If you get a moment, can you tell Nicky Evans I'm not happy about the size of our electricity bill.

If he can't please his woman, could he at least do the honourable thing and stop plugging his ancillary equiment into the mains and buy batteries instead.

Thanks.

Dubai has joined Flushy at the bar...

I got there as Dave Clarke was betting 1100 on a flop of   Jh 6c 6d

Dubai said "Fk it, i might as well do it" and shoved his last 3.5k in saying "I might have 3 outs"

Dave Clarke showed  Jd Kd

Dubai had  Ahrt Kh

Turn was  3s

River   3c

Exit Dubai in the direction of the bar.

Nick Evans was seen giggling as he waved to the pair of them :)

I've just been catching up with our favourite Bobalikelookalike and he relayed details of this hand, played just before the break.

Our hero is down to 2700 and limps in mid position with  Js Qs. There is a raise behind to 800, which is called by the BB, and our hero elects to smooth call also.  The flop is  Kd 9d 6s.  Celtic is pretty pleased with this - a gutshot and a backdoor flush draw to boot.  Check, check, Check.  The turn is the rather scary  6d.  It's checked to our original raiser who sticks in a bet of 1500, and called by our first player.  Celtic shoves with his remaining 1800, and unsurprisingly both the other players feel obliged to call.  5th Street is a rivertastic  Tc and our hero takes the lot!  Up now to a very playable stack of 6k ish.

 ;flushy;

Did they rake the pot?

3 x 2700 chips = 8100

Up now to a very playable stack of 6k ish.

 ;flushy;

Celtic less than a bowel now, down to 3.2k. Class will out, though, so he'll soon be gone...

action on table 9 with a bet, raise, reraise all in and a call on a Qh 5d 3h flop.  Tony Dobson has Qd Td for top pair, while Adam Stoneham flips over Qc 5c for two pair.  No help for Dobson on the turn or river and he is eliminated.  Adam Stoneham now has a very healthy looking 45k chipstack.

Denis O'Mahoney has gone ... he went for the much needed double up, but it was an epic fail as he was last seen gathering his belongings and heading for the exit.

Vinnialike has indeed departed.  He shoved with 8s 6s on a 4s 5s 2d flop and was called by Aspades 7s.  Brick, brick, and game over for Celtic :(  On the plus side, he's just scrounged himself a free ice cream :)up

rumour has it Vinny's assassin was heard singing this song to himself soon after Vinny did the walk of shame (warning - contains material that's NSFW)

Meanwhile, I was ambling past table 1 when I caught the tail end of a hand that will be pleasing to the monkeys/chompies among us.

Sylvester Geoghehan had seen a flop of  Aspades 9s  3c and moved all his remaining chips over the line.  After thinking for a while, his opponent passed, and Sylvester flipped over the mighty  9d 3d.  Underestimate the power of 9 3 soooted at your peril!

At the break, Nicky still has 33k

Ben Vinson has 45k

They are on the same table as Dave colclough who still has around his 12k starting stack

Err, no!

I'll be there on Sunday, with In-Poker's cameras, and Davina Compton, though. Should be a great Final.

Can't believe how fast the guys are getting ko'd in this one. They got a train to catch?

Ben (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=47) Vinson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=47) has 45k

They are on the same table as Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) who still has around his 12k starting stack

good table, wouldnt be surprised to see fireworks between ben and nicky.

Neel Chudasarma and Gary Woodward would have found a way to have 10 rebuys each regardless of piffling little rules like 1 rebuy per player.

PUKE

Nicky opens for 1650 (blinds 300/600) from 26k stack

Ben Roberts shoves for 8k

BB just smooth calls the 8k from a 50k stack

Back to Nicky... and he decides to shove his chips in...

INSTA CALL from the big stack

On their backs

Ben Roberts has  8h 8s
Nicky Evans has  Qc Qh
And the BB had  Ks Kd

No 2 outers appeared and a rather dejected Nicky Evans departs the tournament.

Been impressed with him the few times I've played with him at the Gutshot. If he wants to be taken seriously as a poker player though, he should change his name to Sit Ngo

brilliant.  ;tightend; can't believe that's never occurred to me

I've been mooching around table 4 confident that we will soon see some action there.  Nothing doing thusfar, but in the meantime, here are some approximate chip counts from that table for your delectation:

Jamie Brown 45k
James Akenhead 24k
Roberto Romanello 35k
Dave Courtney 32k
Tim Flanders 25k

Players have just gone on a 15 minute break, after which they'll play out the last level for today.

Really? I've never been impressed with him when I used to play at Gutshot. He always played his hand pretty face up and was essentially a rock. With his style I think he'll find it hard to accumulate chips without a real sustained rush.

Nice chap though who's speech fools many.

Action on table 6! With blinds at 500/1000/75 Jake (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2897) Cody (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2897) raises to 2.5k in mid position and is called by Matthaios Armeftis in the cut off. Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2835) Kellett (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2835) re-raises on the button to 8.5k. Cody folds and Armeftis moves all in for an additional 17k. Kellet thinks for a minute before making the call. Armeftis  Kd Jc Kellett  Kh  9s. No help for Kellett from the board and Armeftis doubles through.

They have stopped the clock at 16 minutes ....

and someone has drawn a card from a choice of  5d 6d 7d 8d all face down obv .... and the card thats picked will be the amount of hands left to play.

He picked the  6d so thats how many hands we will be playing.

Good way to do it, imo. I used to work the GUKPTs and you'd be lucky if you got 5 hands in the last 20 minutes as shortstacks would take 5 full minutes making decisions to avoid having to post a BB before the end, as there's a seat redraw on day 2.

These - I think - are the end of Day 1a Chip Counts, sent to me by Jonathan Raab, many thanks to him. Hope I've interpreted them properly, they were on some weird spreadheet thingie.

Seemingly Day 1b has sold out - 200 seats - so 2 Tables have been added, bringing capacity to 220.

Danny Dborin is a regular at Luton - so I wish him good luck - there on the back of an £80 satellite - mbn

Top updates as per...

Cheers

He'll need plenty of luck from here...looks like he went out late, as he's not on the final 47 on Dry Em's link.

Those aren't the final counts, as some of these people have busted

Don't know what the copying/posting/linking ettiquette is but they're here

http://blog.grosvenorukpokertour.com/

That's weird, but thanks for pointing it out Karl. I just C & P'd the spreadsheet that Jonathan e-Mailed me.

He sent me the Chip Couts via e-Mail every 2 levels yesterday - how's that for service?

I'll C & P the Grosvenor Chip Counts shortly, with thanks & acknowledgement to Grosvenor. As they originally sent them tp me - albeit, it seems, iwith a few inaccuracies - I'm sure they will not mind.

i can only read the updates with firefox when the clock thing isn't on. when it is on all the text is squashed over to the right of the screen. it is OK in IE all the time but it would be good if I could read them in FF. anyone got any ideas?

it's always the same for me in FF, as nobody else has ever mentioned it I imagine it's some setting or something that's not right in mine.

R Romanelli ftw!

He's always playing in my STTs so he is. Hope he binks a big stack today.

LOL!

Reading between the lines ftw

What could he possibly be implying? He has an 11% ROI in SNG's....

If you sharkscope him you see the numbers -9% and -$28k and it looks bad. Isn't all that when you consider the red pros get 100% rake (http://blondepoker.com/redirect.php?id=1)back (http://blondepoker.com/redirect.php?id=1).
In reality, he's probably only down a couple of bags, and that's perhaps due to running like tez at the $525s (10k of his losses have been from just 25 of them)

When it comes to game selection, I don't actively seek him out or anything. In fact I'm pretty sure he's a +EV player at my level. Would certainly rather a random donk I'd not seen before than him at the table.

Actually just wanted to wish him well!

I did.

Just want to be fair and point out that given that he has 100% rakeback the man is a winner at mid limit STTs ($50-$200) over a sample size of over 1,500 games.
