One thing for sure Surinder has lost a couple ov races, and he does what many a player cant do,thats think before he acts,
he also plays on how he feels and situations,he also makes more moves than people think.

GO GO GO Moorman's Dad. This tournament has exposed the secret of who really clicks the mouse for Moorman1.

And go JoeyLove, quality player.

Obv. though the winner will be Kenny Burke, who has the best hindsight and will teach these kids a lesson. If I was there, I would dance round the room with him on his victory shouting "LOLinternetpoker." GO GO GO

David Maudlin raises to 35k but immediately becomes disinterested when Eddie Lundon moves in for 245k.

Joey Lovelady pushes from the cutoff and Kevin Holdstock looks like he might call but ends up folding.

Andrew Booth shoves over a Simon Moorman raise and gets it through. No showdowns yet.

Joey Lovelady is down to the virtual felt after pushing Kc Jc and Harri Isomaki calling on all-in behind him with Aspades Td. A Ks 8s Ac 6c 8h board did offer it's share of swings though...

Title: Re: BlueSq.com GUKPT Manchester: Final Day
Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 26, 2009, 02:25:41 PM
Joey Lovelady is out. He called all-in for the remainder of his short stack with Ts Qd against the midposition shove of Kevin Holdstock who had Aspades 9h. A 5h 4c 9s 6s 8s board and we're down to 11.

Andy Booth has just doubled through Surinder Sunar. Sunar's under the gun raise was met by a shove from the big blind. Surinder taking his customary amount of time before eventually calling with 8d 8c, Booth turning over 9h 9c and the board coming down 3d 2c 9s Qs Td.

"Fookin' get in!" shouted a couple of the Scousers from the rail.

Meanwhile Moorman1 is still here, sweating his dad and sneezing non-stop due to hayfever.

"Don't you take anti-histamines?" I asked him.

"No, I just leave the country," he replied.

Edward Rogers raises preflop and gets called in two spots, by Eddie Lundon and Surinder Sunar.

All three check the 2c 9h 7h flop before Rogers bets 40k on the 5c turn. Sunar calls and Lundon folds. The river is the Ks and Sunar bets 90k. Lundon dwells for ages before calling with 3d 2d. It's good.

Sunar is down to only about 140k

A couple of hands later and Andy Booth raises to 30k on the button and David Maudlin calls. The hand is checked to the river of a Qc Jh Ad 4d 4c board, where Maudlin bet 44k. "We might be chopping..." said Booth as he called. Maudlin showed 4d 3d.

"Maybe not then..."

Karim Jomeen moves all-in from the cut-off. Harri Isomaki thought for ages before moving in from the small blind.

Jomeen: 5c 5d

Isomaki: 7h 7d

6d 4c 2s Js Td

A very disappointed Jomeen is out in 11th place. We're now playing hand for hand.

Edward Rogers is up to about 560k now and looking like the player in charge, makes it 40k and David Maudlin calls in the big blind and checks dark. Rogers checks behind on the 9s 7d 6d flop but fires 50k on the 3s turn. Maudlin instantly folding.

Rogers is in the big blind next hand and Moorman shouts, "Straddle!" to his Dad. Moorman2 has not really been involved so far today and only has about 160k left or so.

Moorman2 moved in from the button for about 140k and the blinds had folded. But wait! David Maudlin had already raised preflop to 40k from UTG! And Moorman2 hadn't seen it, and had gone to muck his cards having said, "Oh, I thought it was just me and you Surinder..."

At this moment Chris was pittering around the back of the crowd going mental, looking incredibly anxious and worried.

Despite all this, Maudlin still took a minute or so to call the extra 100k with 8s 8c and Moorman2 showed Kc Tc.

Th 7d Td 6s Jh

A little fist pump and we're still hand for hand.

Double up for Kevin Holdstock through Chi Nguyen, the former reraising all-in against the cutoff raise.

Holdstock: Ac 8c

Nguyen: Qh Ts

5c 9s 6c 9h Tc

Nguyen almost celebrates on the river until he sees the nut flush of Holdstock.

Like Pete Tong, we continue...

This hand took nearly 10 minutes to play.

Fold to Harri Isomaki in the small blind who thinks for a minute before raising to 48k. Kevin Holdstock then took about 5 minutes before just calling.

Aspades Tc 4h

Isomaki thinks for a minute and bets 55k. Fairly sharpish call.

5c

The Finn takes a minute to check. Check.

3c

Check....and check.

Isomaki flips Qd Ts, Holdstock shows Ahrt 8h, surely missing a bet on the river...

Moorman2 just pushed from the small blind on to Andy Booth. But he didn't just declare it, instead he just shoved all his chips in the middle meaning he's had to spend the next five minutes stacking them back up again... :D

We're off once more. Andy Booth shoving UTG and getting no callers and Harri Isomaki doing the same in the small blind on the other table to win the blinds. Something has to give soon.

Title: Re: BlueSq.com GUKPT Manchester: Final Day
Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 26, 2009, 04:34:47 PM
Simon Moorman moves all-in from the cutoff. Surinder Sunar takes a minute or so but calls all-in from the small blind. Maudlin gets out of the way in the big blind.

Neither wants to show their cards. Finally Moorman shows 2c 2h and Sunar turns over Tc Th

3d 8c 4d Kd Ad

Sunar back over 200k. Moorman down to about 140k.

Raise to 56k from Eddie Lundon on the button. Harri Isomaki moves all-in. Two minutes of thinking and call.

Lundon: Ad Ts
Isomaki: Ahrt Ks

9h Td 4h 7h 3h

Isomaki pats his heart as he doubles up catching the flush on the river for that huge pot. The Finn won his seat through a Norwegian site and this is his first ever live tournament and now he's 3rd in chips.

Simon Moorman takes the first hand with a raise.

"Show the two!" shouts Chris.

is CHris 12 tabling on a lappie whilst railing?

Is it a double save for The Moorman's or does Chris usually win it all on Sunday's too?

I asked about this and Moorman said, "When running bad online, you should play live because then you lose less online."

Simon Moorman raises to 55k UTG and takes the blinds.

Andy Booth shoves the next two hands and receives no callers. The second time he shows a pair of Tens.

Eddie Lundon moves in from the small blind. Andy Booth folds the big blind. With the stacks as they are, it's amazing we've not had a showdown yet.

Good luck to Surinder. He gets a lot of flak, but he's achieved quite a lot over the years.

That's what I heard.

Question is, will he want it back and 50% of the winnings?:)

Andy Booth moves in from the button and get's it through. Everyone is very tight. Ed Rogers will probably exploit this situation non-stop while there are so many 5 - 10 BB stacks.

Surinder Sunar moves in for 38k. Reraise to 100k from Dave Maudlin. Everyone else scampers for cover.

Sunar: Qh Td
Maudlin: Ahrt Qd

2h Ad 3h Jd Ks

A rivered straight doubles Sunar's paltry stack up. We're still 9 handed.

I doubt he wants any %, I'm sure he wouldn't mind the buy-in back though. ;) He's sweated his Dad non-stop since he busted out. He's looked more nervous than anyone else in the cardroom. Certainly more than his dad!

Kenny Burke moved over the top of an Andy Booth raise. With Surinder down to just 1BB. People are very wary of sticking it in without a hand.

Eddie Lundon bets 52k on the turn of a Qd 7s 8d 4s board and Kevin Holdstock makes the call. Both check the dangerous 6d of the river. Lundon shows 9c 6s but Holdstock takes the pot with Ahrt 7d.

We're now on a 1 hour dinner break, amazing with all 9 players still in. They're going to depart very quickly after dinner though, I'd reckon. And yes, my photos are STILL downloading. :(

See you at 7.30pm.

And it's all gone wrong for Edward Rogers.

Kenny Burke raises from the small blind and Rogers pushes. Eventually Burke calls.

Burke: Aspades 3s
Rogers: Ac Qs

5c 8s 2s 4d Ahrt

Burke goes absolutely mental as Rogers just walks off. The rail chant "Kenny, Kenny..." as he screams with delight.

Edward Rogers is out in 8th place winning £8,340. No doubt absolutely gutted.

Rollercoasterments.

Harri Isomaki raises the cutoff and David Maudlin shoves the big blind. Dwell and eventually a call.

Isomaki: Ac Jh
Maudlin: 7h 7d

3h Kd 6c Ks Aspades

Maudlin rolls his eyes at the Barry Greenstein special while Isomaki allows himself a quiet fist pump compared to Burke's over the top celebrations just a minute ago. We're now down to 6 players.

David Maudlin is out in 7th place winning £11,320

Andy Booth shoves UTG and everyone folds.

Next hand it's passed to Kevin Holdstock who almost tries to make it 44k, but minraises to 48k. Simon Moorman moves all-in. Everyone folds super-fast, including Kevin.

Simon Moorman raises to 60k and takes the blinds and antes.

Harri Isomaki raises to 62k in the small blind and Kenny Burke calls.

Ahrt Kh 2s

Isomaki thinks for a minute and checks. Burke immediately moves in for 418k, a massive overbet. Isomaki thinks for a minute then asks for a count. At this point one of the AWOP guys says, "You know the Finnish guy has an ace right?"

Somehow after the clock gets called, Isomaki folds his ace which he raised, hit top pair with and then check/folded on the flop. Clearly the amount of money in play is affecting this freeroller.

Extraordinary. Last hand before the break.

Harri Isomaki raises to 105k with 260k behind. Eddie Lundon moves all-in after a five minute dwell. It's back on Isomaki, and he's dwelling but how can he fold now? He looks pained but after two minutes he makes the call.

With err...Js Jh

Lundon had set him in with 4c 4h

6s 6h Th 8h Aspades

Lundon is down to the felt. But that was such an odd hand that it took Isomaki so long to call when Harri was obviously committed.

At this moment the only Harri I'm committed to is Hari Kiri.

Really on the break now.

Had the pleasure of sitting next to Moorman2 for 60 mins around Level 6-7 on Day 1B.
We shared a coke as we forgot to order a drink and took one of the free drinks brought back by the valet to a departed seat.

We had a good chat , he often rails Chris when playing online. Even though this is Moorman2's first big tournament he is no muppet and played some hands very well indeed.

Harri Isomaki -- £40,000
Andy Booth -- £35,000
Eddie Lundon -- £30,000

Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 26, 2009, 11:18:57 PM
Simon Moorman raises to 105k. Call from Eddie Lundon in the big blind.

7d 2s 6c

Moorman bets 150k. Lundon moves all-in. Snap-call.

Moorman: Kd Ks
Lundon: 5h 4d

Chris Moorman's hands are on his head.

5c

"Oooh," says a nervous Chris.

7c

Not enough for Eddie Lundon who is out in 3rd place winning £30,000.

Simon Moorman -- 2.5 million
Harri Isomaki -- 500k.

Jon Raab gives Chris Moorman a rubdown, "Can Simon become the first Moorman to win a GUKPT...?"

Players are now HU.

The first two hands are walks, then they've taken in turns to move in on each other.

Simon moves in again. Call!

Moorman: Ad 5h
Isomaki: Ahrt 4d

2d 4h Qh 6h Kh

Isomaki doubles up to about 1.07 million, Simon with the rest. We're going to be here a little longer yet...

Raise from Isomaki to 125k. Call from Simon Moorman.

Js Ac Kc

Moorman bets 125k, "Sigh," says Chris, "He's bluffing." Isomaki folds.

The total number of live tournaments played by these two players is three, including this one, says Jon Raab.

Simon Moorman raises to 160k. Harri Isomaki moves all-in. Moorman quickly calls.

Moorman: Aspades 5s
Isomaki: Kd 8c

Th Tc Ahrt 6s 9s

which means Harri Isomaki finishes in 2nd place winning £47,000

AND...

Simon Moorman is the GUKPT Manchester Champion winning £77,920!!!!!!!!

I just want to say how proud I am of my dad for completely amazing me and actually winning this tourny! Always when he has been talking about poker I thought that he was somewhat talking out of his arse however he has definitely proved me wrong!!! I feel like I am having some crazy dream at the moment because I never in a million years thought he would actually get in the money let alone win this thing!! Well what can I say, its definitely put the birthday present I bought him to shame!!

Still waiting for the rest of the photos to upload but, in the meantime Simon Moorman talked to Jon Raab about how it came about that Chris bought him in, how he is never going to be as good as his son at poker and how he just didn't want to let Chris down and go out in the first half hour.

Chris, meanwhile, is in a mixture of shock and absolute delight right now.

I am very proud of him Yeh I know he was playing really well all the way through but you never expect any member of your family to do that well let alone your dad who hasn't got the most poker experience in the world! It is pretty awesome to be honest to now have two poker players in the Moorman family, I just wish I had some of the talent as well!

Chris just wants another poker player in the family. to be honest there definitely needs to be more women in the game but I am not the woman for it! Chris said to me on the phone that he was like a hundred times more nervous watching our dad than actually playing himself! I can see that a lot of poker mags will go for the father son angle on the story.

Just a quick thank you to everyone for all their messages of support over the last three days. when Chris phoned me last week to say he was buying me in a live tournament i was somewhat apprehensive to say the least but the old Moorman wtf spirit came through. I was nervous for the first 30 minutes of each day but then settled down to enjoy the experience. i have met a lot of great people over the weekend and i know it will only be a matter of time before Chris wins a major event.
P.S if anyone wants to marry my daughter then 5k cash will seal the deal

Just a quick thank you to everyone for all their messages of support over the last three days. when Chris phoned me last week to say he was buying me in a live tournament i was somewhat apprehensive to say the least but the old Moorman wtf spirit came through. I was nervous for the first 30 minutes of each day but then settled down to enjoy the experience. i have met a lot of great people over the weekend and i know it will only be a matter of time before Chris wins a major event.
P.S if anyone wants to marry my daughter then 5k cash will seal the deal

Nice one Simon.

Your splendid interview, including a cameo appearance by Chris, will be on In-Poker, first airing on Thursday at 8.30, then most nights for a week. No rubdowns in it, naturally.
