Steve Kirk won the first pot of the day on his table, 800 chips worth

Raising in the cut off betting a  Ac Ad 3s flop, getting a caller and on the  5s turn before flipping over  Ahrt Jd to win after the  6c river

Meanwhile I have an interesting Gary Banks story to relate, and no its not about his tell

So young Mr Banks comes up to me and we get chatting

"I had an intruder last night" he says

"Really?" I reply

"Yes, I was asleep in my room and I sensed that someone was nearby. I woke up worried and this girl had stripped down and got into the twin bed next to me"

"How did that happen, wasn't the room locked?"

"Don't know, it was locked but of course first thing I did was check my money and my laptop were still there"

There speaks a poker player

It may only be 25-50 but that still doesn't stop a 12,000 pot being played out

Richard Whitmore limps for 50

James Browning likewise on the button

Robert Boon raises to 200 in the big blind, called by both

flop  9h 2c 8h

check check and Browning bets 500

Called in both spots

turn  3c

check check and Browning bets 3,000 called in both spots

river  Ad

Boon bets 2,500, both pass

Whitmore shows  Th 7h ruefully

Browning grimaces and doesn't show when Boon shows  Ac Aspades after winning the pot

I see Fran viewing the thread, so for her

Tony Phillips has drawn a tough corner of his talbe, to the right of Surinder Sunar and Sunny Chattha

Style wise, Tony seems to have adopted the approach I saw a lot from Neil Channing in these sorts of events...frequently raises to 125 pre-flop in level one..and soon that becomes like a limp, building pots for when he hits hands

Assorted snippets

Jon Kalmar is down to 2,000, the beneficiary appearing to be his neighbour Finn Stewart sitting on a 20,000 stack

James Browning has recovered to 12,000. Tels me he had nut hearts in that big pot earlier

Also on the Phillips/Chatta/Sunar table is London GUKPT winner Martin Silke

Allan MacLean has won a big pot off Mark Lowe, now short-stacked and Chris Dowling who went with him, after a pre-flop raise was called in four places on a  4s Tc Kd flop. MacLean's 3,000 turn bet took it down after the  Ad came down

JJ Hazan of Gutshot fame bet 1,500 after the river on a  2d 4c 5c 4h 3h board. Chris Wood makes it 3,500 and JJ eventually gives up

Steve Kirk gave me a look as I walked past as if to say "don't ask", so I didn't.

Gary Banks has been in action, surprise surprise

He raised to 350 in early position and picked up a caller on the button with William Haughey..playing today after all.

flop  3h 4s 8h and the the young one checked to the ex Celtic director who bet 600, called

the  Js was checked by both, as was the  Ks river

Banks turns over  Jd 8d beating Haughey's  9s 9h

After limps by James (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=185) Browning (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=185) and Romanello James Lowery makes it 600 to play and Browning makes the 600 call only for Roberto to push in for his last 3k.

He then goes into speech overdrive and says "You're squeezing and I've put you on a hand already. Depends if you want to race but I need the double up. I'll even tell you what I've got if it makes it easier for you to call. I've got a small pair  fives or less"

Eventually James Lowery makes the call and James (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=185) Browning (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=185) folds.

Roberto then says to Lowery " Youve got AJ or AQ" and Lowery turns AQ.

Roberto flips AK and all his hard work is to no good as Q hits the turn and we lose Roberto

ty for that Tighty today isnt guna b the day unfortunatly! only had 5k left for the quads hand because of this sick hand, i hav 12k at 50/100 and 3 limp into my bb i make it 700 with 99, btn flats and sb tank flats (he is a irish guy who has been fairly TAG so far and done nothing massively out of line but i now think he has a pretty gd hand well i mean it flops well)

Flop comes A96r he donks 1100 at 2300 i decided he cant call a raise unless he has 66 so flat, btn folds

turn 10 he donks 2000 now, now im fairly sure he doesnt hav 78 dunno y but it doesnt seem right so again i flat cause i dont think he has a hand that withstands a raise.

river 8 board still is mono so i still dont think he can hav a 7 in his hand unless its 78 or 77 (which is super dirty, and not really possible) so i call his 4.5k bet which does look super valuetowny but im a donk so w/e and his says nuts and flips QJcc erghhh vnh sir gg gn then the quads hand std!

From Jonathan Raab

15 breakfasts in an hour
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:24 pm

Paul Parker and Carlo Citrone have been discussing a prop bet. The deal is that Carlo has to eat 15 breakfasts in an hour.. They would consist of 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 egg, tomatoes (tinned) , mushrooms and a slice of toast. They apparently had a similar bet a few years ago, but cannot agree on how many breakfasts were involved in the bet. That time Carlo managed to put away seven of them in a 45 minute period, but this time his plan would be to use a liquidiser. They are still haggling over the terms - Carlo wants it to be for a grand and get odds of 2-1. Parker wants to up it to 20 breakfasts.

I could do that

Haven't seen Allan in a few years.

A true gent and when on his game an absolute nightmare to play against.

Hope he cops the lot here.

Everyone will be out drinking and I have to work the 10 - 6am shift. FML

My favourite moment so far:

K-K-8-4-3 board, Stu Rutter checks K-8 to David (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2667) La Ronde (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2667) who checks behind with 4-4.

Good soul read sir.

la ronde announced he mucked 4-4 but never showed. is this a soul read or a cheeky fib?

Pete Mason all in with 10-J

Rickie Vedhara all in with 3-3

Sterling calls both with A-7

Ace hits and he wins the 18,000 chip pot

Jimmy Morgan from Liverpool has knocked out Aaron Barry

Morgan would have felt happy holding A-2 on a 5-10-2-A board

but then Barry pushed his last chips in on the river, another 5 which left Morgan with problems

Eventually Morgan called and Barry showed 3-3.

Lynne Beaumont wins a 12,000 pot off Julian Martin, rivering a set of fours on a Queen high board having called bets on flop and turn

Tony Phillips knocked out Nicky Power

Tony raised UTG, folded to Nicky in the big blind who pushed his low to medium stack in with pocket sixes

Tony called with tens

Six on the flop..crowd goes "ooooooooooooooh"

Ten on the turn....crowd goes..."aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh"

and Tony is propelled to around the 40,000 chip mark

I'll take you up on that for a decent sized bet at BB8 Tighty?
