Jon Kalmar is dangerous, his experience of long clock deepstack comps shone through late yesterday, John Conroy another player with an absolute wealth of experience....  tough to pick a winner tbh, though I agree that Mitchell will be tough to play against as he wields his big stack with unerring relentlesness.

Really looking forward to todays play.

Dont know him, but seemed V competent, but more importantly made me lol by berating Lucy Rokash for being and internet lunatic.

Seems like there's a lot of chips on table 11! Might be a few big pots....

Good luck to MC and James Mitchell...

Also, Gurdeu seems to be going quite deep at recent DTD events, albeit without a big score.... don't really know much about him though, anyone else?

Early Perrins action

He raised Anthony Horn's bet of 4.5k to 10.6k on the turn of a  4h 3c Ahrt Jh board

Horn made the call and then led out for 20k on the  7s river

Perrin made the call and showed  5s 6h for the rivered straight

80k pot shipped Perrins way

far be it from me to criticise anyone elses play after my own frustrations at how i played a few hands over the last 2 days make me want to shoot myself, however i would suggest that i she had cold 3betmo and he flat calls which is likely with ak then she bets the flop he will fold and she takes the pot......

John Sadler has knocked out a short stacked Kai Danilo Paulsen

99 for Sadler,  7c 8c for Andersson

We also just lost Patrick Andersson, but I missed that one ... 30 left

yeah for sure, players like mo muse and julien thew who i hadnt previously played much against live seriously impressed me , mo has so much game he could give half of it away and still be one of the top players in that room!!
but the p[layers that see aa-qq and ak , see a raise remember the turbo 30 min blind games they play and just insta ship 120bb or soemthing retarded......takuing the poker out of the game, ofc it is only a matter of time before they get caught with massive gmbles like that, the only thing they will get called by most of the time when they have aa is kk and when they have qq they get called by aa or kk or ak ......good ev play imo obviously :p

My hunch is that it isn't a fear of being outplayed at all, without any evidence to back it up at all, I think it's more that a lot players just don't take any notice of chip stack sizes.
~
Whatever hands they will ship with when they have 10 big blinds, they will also do it with 20, 40 or 80 big blinds.

i agree with Kev - Pot Limit deepstacks FTW - some of the play is embarrasing

dont get me wrong i am all for reshipping 20bb's as it is inexpolitable - but 50-100bb's is just COM

yeah watching some of these people shoving 70bb is like "omg is this really a 1k buyin"

i have to say the range in standard of players is so vast its not even funny, some of the worst live poker i have ever seen played at this supposed level i have seen this week, yes there are some obvioulsy great players here but there are some people who have never played a deepstack before EVER i swear......

no idea of pot control, the long blinds, stack sizes when playing hands just not a clue........

if this is the standard for the next 2 of these(which i asssume it wont be because of the vegas affect) then i would suggest anybody playing at the $5 mtt level to step up you WILL have a skill edge on some of the field.

harsh but fair

Ouch, Barry just lost a biggish pot there

He got involved with Daniel Nutt ... Barry hit a bit of the flop and led out putting his oppo on a flush draw, on a blank turn barry bet again ... call, the flush missed on the river so again barry bet .... his oppo called.... he did have the flush draw, but caught a higher pair than barry on the river

Baz down to 70k

Nothing is happening, its all raise pass ... no confrontations, no cards being shown... its time for the strong players to prey on the weak.

Im still here, I am still awake .... at this stage of a deep stack, we just have to wait for the big coups.

Just to answer a couple of earlier points ...

A saver ??

Not while there still 23 left i wouldnt imagine... I cant see players like Conroy, Penly, Mitchell , Martin etc .... allowing it, as they are happy to exploit weak play as some players are obviously looking to ladder into the money.

Comedy gold from discomonkey about the AK vs KK hand. She should have hoped that he flatted pre, then she should bet the raggy flop? So that he would fold AK, a hand that she has completely dominated? Criticising the standard and then writing that is lol.

Is this a joke Rup? 20% of 80k is a couple of years grinding for me.

Anyway, I'm gonna get shot for saying this but Fido JNR is due in Aug + the fact that he got green belted in blackbeltpoker it's a pretty bad run for him. He's due some good luck!

massive repsect to dtd for honouring the gaurantee - i really hope it doesn't put them off running similar events, be it with a lesser or even no gaurantee.
would have been nice to see rob & chubbs playing.
with the wsop main event just around the corner this really was a great warm-up & playing such a slow clock i certainly felt i learnt a few things over the two days i played.
looking forward to another crack in tomorrows 250.

John calls

No Ace and Horn departs in 23rd

I don't know if this has been discussed earlier.. but the Champions League Final and the start of the WSOP must have taken 50 players from the field.

I think they will meet the guarantees for the other events in the series.

Think the 5 days makes a difference too Keith- I know a lot of people who just couldn't get the time off work

Think the satty schedule should be more intense too- why can't they start them as early as possible? Even one seat a week is something

The 5 day thing is true for sure.

If they had started the tounament last Saturday and then played through the bank holiday, people with jobs would only have to take days off if they were in the money.

The structure is great.

During the week some people were quite critical of the selection process for Black Belt Poker choosing the belts and expressed suprise, bitterness and anger at some of the decisions. I didn't come on here to discuss any of the individual decisions, but have tried to spend time, (in between flying 8000 miles and playing the tournament), chatting to the people in question. I certainly didn't think it was my place to discuss people's personal business, and the reasons for decisions made, in public.

I would like to say however that three people who were very dissappointed: James Mitchell, not to get Brown and James Atkin and RiverDave not to get Blue, are all people who I enjoyed very much having on The Grading and are people who I like very much and who I'd like to be involved in Black Belt in the future.

I know it's been a tough week for them, it wasn't that easy for me, I'd just like to wish them all the luck in the world and hope they get a 1,2,3.

Maybe you can pass my good wishes to them Kev.

Where can you get practice for this kind of event, I would love to give it a go, planning for 5 days of escape from Christmas Preparations this year for the Bellagio event :-)

Not if they're called James!  Go both!  Although special Go to Fido.  He wrote some quality stuff in the last month and deserves to have his hard work pay off after a bit of disappointment.  Cloud, silver lining, abbreviated cliche.  He's also a really genuine guy who's due a result.  MCCCCCCC!

Also side good-luck to Toby Lewis in the £250...

Nice pictures.  More!   (It's quite fun to be demanding updates for a change...)

Seriously - if someone took a "universal" charger to these events, they could either be everyone's best friend lending it out, or alternatively you could make a fortune charging a tenner a charge :-) after all a full phone charge surely must be worth as much as a 10 minute massage ;-)

We are down to 17

Gurdeu Millan & Danny Toffel get into a raising war pre and all the chips go in

AK for Millan

Back home - thanks for the support - gutted is the understatement of the day.

Great comp - really bloody excellent - well done all at DTD. Played so much over the last few days and bizarrely itching to play more - learnt so much  especially while sharing tables with Julian and Skalie who today gave me some great insights into betting patterns which I can't wait to try out!

Confidence high although bank balance low ..... staking requests would be well received!

Good luck to the other blondes left. x

I've looked through 3 days of updates, and haven't found out the answer to this question:

Why did Anon choose to be anon?

(Ps Good luck to John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=608) Conroy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=608) who plays to a consistantly high standard and is going to cop one of these tournies one day soon)

Never asked, if someone wants to remain anonymous, why should we investigate, he must have his reasons.

what happens then kev if there are two "Anons" and they do the next days seat draw - do you have Anon A and Anon B or just first one in gets it

Last half hour ..... everyone will be thinking ... "dont do anything daft now, nearly at that final"

Final will be 9 handed

With the clock reaching the last 15 minutes of the day we still have 11 players ...

But news reaches me that the players may be offered an option .....   If that option is offered I will let you know.

Just caught up with these - cracking solo effort Kev :)up

Unlucky Trace :(

re the comments on the shoving woman, she was sat at my tables on both the £250 and £75 later in the day, so I got to hear her hand stories a couple of times.  One particular hand she was gutted about having to lay down JJ to a big bet on a raggy board and being showed TT.  It was clear from the way she relayed how she'd played it that the pot had become massively over-inflated from her own raises and bet-sizes, but I didn't think it was my place to say :)  She also shoved 6-7k pre in to unopened pots a couple of times at 100/200 in the £250.

Good luck to all blondes remaining - let's home MC takes this one down - would be a fantastic change of fortune for him.  Give me an 'M' etc  ;cheerleader;
