Title: 1000th Post
Post by: Girgy85 on May 29, 2009, 10:23:24 PM
So i have been a part of Blonde for for just over 15 months now and i have finally made my 1000th post. Most of my previous 999 post have been utter bollox but i am going to try and make this one of my better ones.

I have met a few of you around Leeds and DTD and hope to meet a lot more of you at BB8 this September.

I am a recreational player and play a small amount online. I have been playing for over 4 years and have just started working as a poker dealer in Leeds which i am enjoying at the moment. I have had times where i have hated the game but the game is very addictive and always seams to pull me back in.

I don't think my game has developed much recently and think i have fallen behind a bit which often makes me feel frustrated with how i play.

Well enough about the poker and a bit more about myself.

I have been piling on the pounds recently and often eat lots of junk and i think its about time i made a few changes in my lifestyle. I am un happy with my weight at the moment and i intend to use this thread as motivation in order to help me achieve a few goals.

I have always been a big lad and like my grub but i decided that on my 1000th i was going to sort out a goal that i think is reachable. I have just weighed myself and i top the scales at 23st 4lb.

So out goes the takeaways/chocolates/crisps and late nights and in come the healthier food, earlier nights and my running sneaks.

My goal is to get down to 20st by the time of the Blonde bash in September. So i make that just over 3 months in which to do this in.

So i hope when i am feeling down that this thread will pick me up and set me back on track!

Thanks for reading and hope to see you all at BB8 in Leeds.

Girgy

I think you dealt at a table I was playing on at Gala a week or so ago. Good luck with this, the only thing stopping you from doing it will be motivation - though the dealing is probably going to challenge the late nights as well as give opportunity for late snacks etc.

You dont need a gym membership if you have a pair of traniers. There are loads of places in Leeds where you can go walking etc.

All the best with it.

you could either do a straight weight loss prop bet like elky did, or you could enter a 10k race (theres plenty around leeds) in say 2 months and set yourself a time

motivation - 1% thighs chafing in hot weather sucks, 1% be nice to play with the great grandkids, 3% have some self respect and stop being a MFing pussy, 95% sex, whether that's more sex, better sex, sex with more people, better looking people whatever, this is what motivates people the most imo.

diet - google lyle mcdonald

exercise - google crossfit

Lazyness is the only thing stopping you. You can do it, just don't make excuses for anything.

Have you joined the gym yet?

Maybe start a thread detailing a brief account of what you are eating and what exercises you've done. Obv you'll get the occasional unhelpful post from someone but generally people will give you good advice and it could help.

Low carb dieting is your friend

Being so heavy you will shed the pounds and this remotivtaes you to keep going!

Fk the haters - go get yourself a copy of the Atkins diet. DO it for 3 months - you will have surpassed your goals!

I am Low carb-ing at the mo (a refined version of the Atkins - bit healthier) - i have lost 9lbs in 3 weeks - doing it for another 3 then eating healthy from there and going to follow Paul Mckennas life plan

If you are not  bothered about the fast weight loss - use the mckenna plan

No more excuses - start tomorrow! - i live in leeds if you want to meet for a ................... slim..fast...shake???!?!?!?!? - and get you started! (that is a serious offer)

Girgy, completely fuck off the whole 'diet' thing.

You need to change what you eat in a way you would be happy to eat forever. The whole idea of being on a diet is shite, so when you get to your target weight you can eat exactly how you did before? Whats the point in that?

You need to find a good balance, where you still have some stuff you like, and replace some of the worst things, with some healthier stuff.

Healthier eating is not just for xmas, its for life, unlike a puppy.

Yup, good post Bopkirk.

The whole problem with diet is it basically means suffering. Everyone likes food and you should still be able to eat things you enjoy but nothing in excess and you can still change your eating habits without ruling anything out.

What a bag of bollocks excuse.

If you really wanted to go to the gym you'd find the money.  There's gyms you can join for £40 per month tops. That's £1.30 per day.

Do you eat much fast food? Drink alcohol at all? Drink fizzy drinks? Buy food at work instead of taking your own?

If you can honestly say that there's nothing you could cut out to find £1.30 per day I'd be shocked.

The things you'd cut out are also the things stopping you losing the weight you want to lose. Win win situation.

If you don't want to go to the gym fair enough I can't fault you at all but please don't insult people's intelligence by saying the reason is money.

If you really wanted to go you'd have joined already.

hey girgy, can you find 10 minutes a day to do some exercise? maybe get up 10 mins early or go to bed 10 mins late?

if so, today/tomorrow/whenever lie down flat on the floor and then stand up straight, then lie down and stand up again. set clock/stopwatch for 10 mins and see how many times you can do it. post result here and then I tell you what to do for your 10 mins the next day. deal?

Why the pussy footing? Girgy quite clearly can't be arsed.

I'm not criticising this at all because he should do exactly what he pleases. If he wants to find time to excercise he will.

If he wants to lose weight the guy needs some tough love not gentle encouraging. If he doesn't want to lose weight and start excercising he should stop trying to convince people he does whilst coming up with shit excuses for avoiding it.

You'll be giving him man hugs next and telling him it's all ok.

Hi guys

I am looking to play the DTD deepstack on the 1st August and i am looking for 40% of backing. I am selling 10% shares at £33 and i would like to sell 4 of these as i will be putting up the other 60% myself. Reason i am asking for 40% is i can't afford the full amount myself and i would really like to play the event.

Cheers

Girgy

Just a quote from your staking request. You can put up £198 + costs of travel, accomodation and other expenses for a poker tournament but can't fund a gym membership?

Gotta make sure your priorities are right. If you don't cash in that tournament you'll have spent the equivalent of 1 years gym membership on a weekend of poker.

People will be willing to help you but you've got to help yourself.

dude is 23 stone man, put a weight vest on so that you weigh that much and see if that seems like a reasonable first workout ever/since school/whateverTF it is for girgy. I was well nervous the first time I walked in the gym and I was only 17 stone. I believe you are uber fit, try to put yourself in girgy's shoes. 10 mins a day at home better than paying £40 a month and going twice and never again.

I am willing to travel to the Leeds area at an agreed time and date and Race you over a 10K Road race. I will give you fair and reasonable odds and any reasonable handicap Blondities think fair. I need to lose a little weight and this would motivate me.

I have no intention of making you skinter but if it helps you health....., so if it be £1,£10 of £100 i don't really care.  Only doing it for the crack, to lose weight, to motivate you and to partcipate on the forum.

By the way you would have a massive head start coz i used to be a decent runner. But when we post or fitting weight, stats, and experience, he blondites can guide us as to handicap.

You can take 3, 6 9 monthes to train ect or whatever you need.

On a serious note though, Matt is right.

The fact Girgy is 23 stone makes this easier if anything.
The weight will fall off if he puts the effort in to eat better and get some excersise.

Theres no to ways about it, if he really wants to, he will do.

At the moment he is obviously not that bothered. If he was he would be on it.

I dont know too much about the guy, but ive met him once and he seems like a nice bloke.

If I was girgy i would have the job paper out and be applying for any job that was 9-5 and had a gym in the building.

Pure com. Love it. It's without a doubt the gayest violent sport ever. I used to mainly do the one where you get to wear a gi though and at least a tee shirt to avoid nipple rubs.

Lol at me super fit btw. About a year ago I weight trained 6 times per week, kick boxing 2 times per week and man love jitsu 2 times per week.

Not done anything for ages now. I want to but I haven't.

You know why?

Because I can't be arsed. It's as simple as that. That's why I can relate to Girgy on this. Yes there's differences but my reason for not training is the same as his.

I try to convince myself that I want to but do I really? If I do then why aren't I there?

Regards to my request for staking...... i have some money due at the end of this month thats how i can afford to put up 60% and am looking forward to a weekend of poker if i can raise the extra 40%.

Regards to working and taking my own food etc.... i do take my own snap to work but whilst on the road i do have an habit to just nip into the garage for unhealty snacks and is something i will be loooking to change.

My mum cooks my meals and after telling her today to buy more healthier i will be starting my quest from now.........

You can take 3, 6 9 monthes to train ect or whatever you need.

The fact he is posting on here is better than nothing.
No ones overly been molly coddling him, we've all said he needs to pull his shit togther and get on with it and stop making excuses.
I dont really know him either but I dont feel a need to be negative about it.

Most bullys are just fucking about in their eyes, most of them dont know the person they are bullying either do they, or they probably wouldnt do it.

Its not even a fair playing ground as none of us know anything about you so he cant even make a funny comeback.

You make a lot of funny posts on here 95% of them make me laugh out loud, some of them are awesome!
Im just saying the fact you dont know him should make you think twice, how do you know how he going to take it?

Agree with the Atkins diet being a good way to lose weight and see results quickly which is always a good motivator. I went on it a few years back and lost 3 1/2 stone in about 6 months, unfortunately I have put it back on lol. If you do go on the Atkins diet make sure you take fibre tablets as it can mess up your digestive system.
good luck with it

Isn't that the problem with the Atkins diet?  It certainly can be effective in helping people to shed weight, but it's not a viable long-term plan in term of a healthy, balanced diet.  Much better to focus on sensible eating combined with exercise.

have you actually read the book? apart from the first 2 weeks which is very strict to create rapid initial weight loss and you can ignore if you wish, atkins diet = meat, fish, dairy, vegetables and fruit. wtf is unbalanced about that? if you don't run marathons you don't need to be eating bread, pasta, rice and mars bars.

Yes.

if not eating refined carbs and starch is unhealthy, unbalanced and not sensible then you'd have to be completely crackers to cut out dairy as well and insist on the rest being organic right? so many ridic fit people who eat like this tho ???

I don't want to encourage girgy to take it, it is banned in various different countries and people have died taking it although that's probably mostly dumb teenagers overdosing on hot days with not enough water.

Bodyfat % is probably somewhere around 85% nutrition, exercise being the majority of the rest, so EC is only having a small effect. However if you are gonna take it I believe the latest thinking is dump the Aspirin, which was put in originally for it's blood thinning effect and we all take fish oil which does that now, and start off very very slowly, and not to take it before intense exercise.

Lyle McDonald's Rapid Fat Loss ebook talks about this a bit and can be found on torrents if you do that kind of thing.
