Title: Reverse Sheep Quiz 23 - The Google Monkey returns
Post by: matt674 on June 16, 2009, 11:05:46 PM
As punishment for the 2nd worst case of blatant cheating since RSQ began (for the first see every Sharplea entry from RSQ I to RSQ XXI) i think everyone should boycott this quiz and let thetank do one instead

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rules

Here's the deal.

There are 14 questions, PM your answers for them to me by Sunday 21st June 2009 at 7pm, each answer on a separate line please, in order of questions.

Your score for each question is number of people who give the same correct answer. So you want to go for answers that you think will be less commonly given. Levelling commonly happens. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep, with the corresponding sheep score.

I'm going to say that no research of any kind is allowed such as googling etc but those who can't help themselves are going to do it anyway :D

If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive the sheep score + one half the number of TOTAL answers given, rounded up.

You MUST pass on one question and score a 0 for that question.

Any questions post in this thread (or PM), but don't post your answers obv.

The reveal will be 7.30pm on Monday 22nd June

Should a previous QM be victorious, he/she has the choice to either nominate a new QM (Colchester Kev) or do it themselves,

Objections are allowed but will cost a one banana deposit payable at the next blonde bash, the objection will be listened to and if successful will have the deposit returned. Anyone giving an incorrect answer to question 14 will automatically incur a 2 banana penalty.

For questions 4 and 11, sequels will be whaled

I think being a QM will be a fitting punishment.

Good luck, you may well need it.

2. Name a country who's main currency is the dollar

Which dollar is to be counted as 'the' dollar. Or does question mean... 'Name a country whose main currency is dollars.'

4. Name a film starring Silvester Stallone

Will films starring Sylvester Stallone count as correct answers, or does it have to be this Silvester guy?

14. Name one of the top 10 banana producing nations in 2005

Is this per capita?  :D

each country who uses dollars as currency will no doubt argue as the who's is "the" dollar - the latter is meant in the question posed above :)up

yes - will amend spelling in original questions before i get answers including the black and white cat that chases tweety pie

Hopefully you can read this (i = input, o = output (1))

(t=0: i = 1.28, o = 1.02) (t=20: i = 1.31, o = 0.85) (t=40: i = 1.34, o = 0.72) (t=60: i = 1.34, o = 0.69) (t=80,100,120: i = 1.34, o = 0.69)

= probable shit answers on most questions is this payback

9.Name a square on a standard UK Monopoly board that a piece can land on during a single turn that cannot be bought

What's the relevance of "during a single turn?"  All the squares that cannot be bought can be landed on in a single turn depending on where you started from.  Should we assume you're on the GO square, so any square within 12 moves from GO?

I assumed it was the former..specific instances of natural disasters that caused the most deaths whether that be Mount St Helens or Japanese seismic stuff or something in Sri Lanka

Clairifcation would be most helpful

Forgot about having another go if you roll a double.  Don't you go to jail if you roll three doubles in a row?  There's also a number of UK monopoly boards now.  Are we talking about the original UK board?

For the top 10 Natural disasters, is it top 10 based on how many people got killed in say, all the "Disasters of that type" in the world, or just one specific "Disaster of that type", or... top 10 say..  there has been 75 trillion killed when someone dropped a brick on his foot, so that is the single most indvidual disater of its type..  Oh bollox..  what am I talking about..!!!  I would not know an answer either way, gonna have to be a pure guess...

I think...   If a previous QM wins...   If that person never actually won the RSQ and became a QM by nomination, then, they should be able to be QM again, because they won the chance, if that makes sense?  Not that it affects me like as I was QM because I won..!!  LOL

Yes, I understand the dying part.

It's the 'does it have to happen in one short period of time or can it be a series of related events that cause the dying over a long period of time?' bit that I need clarification on.

there will be a specific natural disaster of each type that has killed the most number of people, for some natural disasters its all at once - for others it is over a period of time.

i'm not looking for the name of that specific event itself but just one of the top ten types of different deadliest natural disasters - it may well be that the type of most deadliest natural disaster of all time is also responsible for the 2nd and 3rd most deaths during a different natural disaster but these are irrelevant to the question

I don't think the definition of deadly/deadliest is the problem

It's the definition of disaster which contains the kernel of farce potential

I feel with all the alleged Googling that seems to be getting unpunished of late we should start a Sheep Court (like a Kangaroo court but with bleating).

This should be a private board with a handful of respectable quizzers, say 3 or 4 not including the QM, where a consensus can be made in the handling of suspected Googlers.

The Sheep Courts decision should be final and would be able to hand out punishment without any involvement or agreement from the QM.

This Sheep Court could also be used as a court of farce appeal for objections to answers which the QM has denied.

A case can only be heard in the Sheep Court if all the Sheep judges agree.

I'm sure this could work.

This is only a basic thought with minor detail but if anyone has any ideas how this could benefit or not the RSQ's of our hearts then please chip in.

Some of the questions are far too easy, like which country has the highest banana production. Everyone knows which countries bananas come from.

wtf, where DO bananas come from? FML!!!!!!!

sigh - toying with the idea of the first ever insta-disqualificaton for blasphemy!! :D

I've even been generous with you for this question as there was a tie for 10th in the table so i have accepted the top 11 answers (though if anyone got the 2nd of the tied 10th nations i would have insta-disqualified you for cheating :D)

Thought it was sheep score plus however many correct answers there were?

some comps its been sheep score plus number of distinct correct answers divided by 2

others its been total number of answers divided by 2 + sheep score.

If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive the sheep score + one half the number of TOTAL answers given, rounded up.

This way a player can have the occasional fail and still be in with a chance if getting a few low scores for other questions

OBJECTION

why is avalanche a fail?

How can you prove that the sum total of death's by avalanches does not put it in the top ten?

there is no way of measuring the total number of death's for every specific natural disaster - so for the top 10 deadliest each catagory is assigned the one disaster that caused the most deaths.

so in fact, the question as framed is completely useless, and impossible to prove an answer is right or wrong

ergo:

I suggest The number of people who trip over, resulting in a trip to casualty, is greater than the number of people who die from Floods.

Prove me wrong

I understand that loads of people have died as a result of spontaneous combustion...  Gotta be more than 96 lol

show me a case where more than 96 people tripped and killed themselves in one specific natural disaster or spontaneosly combusted (as far as i am aware 3 is the record for this) and i'll gladly enter it into the top 15...........

show me a natural disaster where they didn't?

I suggest in the powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 that hit Japan's north-east coast in 2005 at commuter rush hour would have seen more than 96 people trip over and die

do you reckon? I think it'll be close as you have to distinguish between tripping and falling. if however you whale trips and falls then it's def over 96

With modern paving technology, the ratio of trips to falls is much reduced. Nevertheless I still think its an issue that shoulkd not be ignored and that renders Q6 totally redundant

We share a common ancestor with present day apes and monkeys; this animal was a monkey.

Well funny you should say that.  Rooms-direct.co.uk are an independant furniture provider from the UK who do mates rates for people on Blonde..!!  I am the person who gets to decide how big or small them rates are, but unfortunattley, I just get 1 penny per day per forum..
