Not much serious action going on at the mo on tables Girgy and Rooks.....
Girgy has been getting busy shifting his stack in to the middle and applying pressure form the blinds... I swear that the button stops breathing whilst Girgy makes up his mind whether to push or fold. Girgy has the added distraction of having a shorty raising half his stack to the immediate right who puts in half his stack each time - he seems to be the table nit tho, as there has been much folding at not too slow a speed when he gets his money in.

Table Rooks :
Rooks has clearly irked his table buddie in seat 8 (will get the name in a sec) as he is desperate to pick up a big hand on the button - and keeps telling the world so... Rooks is just smiling...
Last flop seen, folded to the Sb who limps into Rook's BB. (1200 /2400 ante 300)
Rooks looks slightly bemused and checks.
Flop comes 2d 7c 8d

Rooks bets out approx half pot (my eyes aren't what they used to be!) and we have a simple fold....

Sadly that took place in the 5 mins i was watching b4 the 150 kicks off - so first and last update till i bust lool....

Gl all blondes

Just had a rocky 3 hands in the £150.

Went from 2.5k to 15k to 11k.

Doubled up with Ac  9c vs  6h 6d.

Get it in 3 ways the next hand with Js  Jc vs  8d  8h and 6h 6d and hold.

Then next hand lose a 12k pot with  9c 9h to Q 10 off which flopped a 10 sigh.

Current stack 10.1k with 10.9k average!

Any chance of a picture of him?  Think I know who he is - does this all the time.  Dwells for ages on virtually every decision. Can understand it sometimes, but not every bloody decision.  In the case above, what exactly did he need to think about???  Very bad etiquette imho.

Chip counts

Richard Horton   11   1   953000
Fraser Bellamy   11   7   833000
Lewis Morton Monaghan   11   3   651000
Kyriacos Dionysiou   11   8   562000
André Bjornstad   11   4   454000
Ashley Mason   11   5   394000

Ash doubled up Fraser Bellamy shortly before the break ... Ash got himself pot commited and had to call an all in on a King high flop ... he had second pair but Bellamy had the King.

This weekend has been epic!

Travelled down with CF on saturday morning and got to DTD for about 1pm. Saw Cos and Stu plus loads of other blondes. Loads of Leeds players here too inc Jones and Brunny.

Record breaking numbers for this weekend at DTD. I managed to grind my way through to make day 2 eventually busting 52nd just 16 place off the money!

Lobstermania was pure class!!

Played the £150 today and railed CF to heads up where i had 10% of the action and scooping £540 from his £5.4k win!!

Spot Girgy was pure com!

Awesome updates from Kev and CF on day one!

Just a fantastic weekend and hope to do this again next month and looking forward to BB8 at Alea which is gonna be awesome!!

So from DTD goodnight and godbless!!

Cos is out 48k all in with A10

called by A9 ... first card out 9 ...sighhhhhh

Was 68k @3k/6k and I got absolutely snapped off. fml.

Such an awesome comp where pretty much 90% of the field have no chance of ever winning it. My table was just horrible after I accumulated big chips. I had some online guy called Luke on my direct left, Ashley mason on his left (who I think is an excellent player) for hours which just made it impossible to get anything going.

Frankie is a lovely old fellow, with a remarkable ability to put in such a huge live volume. One must thoroughly commend his ability to donate his hard earned in 3 tournaments a day.

Unfortunately however, his play is tez.

I won't be alright if I play that bad though.

I was sat on his table twice and once next to him. Not saying he's not a gent, just saying he plays horrible.

Is it really necessary to slag off a 72 year old without provocation, whom you believe to be a nice guy, following a post where someone is commending his zest for life?

Did you go into the Bobby Robson thread and pipe in with 'yeah but I bet he was wank at break dancing'?

Rubbish analogy. It was his zest for poker that was being applauded anyway.

My language was certainly not appropriate as I was reading following a horrible beat but if Bobby Robson was a bad manager I would have said 'I didn't rate the guy at all but RIP'.

If I could retract the way I went about saying it, I would have as I was in a foul mood at the time. For that I apologise.

However, this is a thread about the £300 tournament of which I was on Frankie's table for quite a while. Calling raises 20bbs deep with J7 off is not my idea of good play and whilst he's a gentleman, he's a bad player. I'm perfectly entitled to say that.

To be honest mate, it was the manner in which you said it that got me. It didn't detail why you thought he was shit, it was just a pure attack of 'he is shit'.

I accept your apology lol.

We all feel the need to slag off other players, just as we all over estimate our own ability, its the nature of poker. Lots of poker players do open themselves up to scrutiny, usually when they big themselves up (99% of players then). We are entitled to say a player is bad, but why do we need to? Who benefits from saying another player is bad when they havent necessarily invited on themselves.

Not slagging off Cos here, I think almost all of us are guilty of this

This should probably be a separate thread, nobody reads the updates after the event has finished.

I would love to be able to judge your game but I'd need a decent enough sample to do that and since you haven't played more than 15 hands this year I'm not in a position to do so.

When u got my mad skillz mate 15 hands a yr is usually enough.

I think this thread is missing something btw. We have the £300 and the £150 etc but what about the main event on Saturday night the £50.

generally good updates kev. well done. however, Lewis was the one who doubled up fraser cos he got over committed not me!

and 2ndly, i did not reship with air and rich horton made a hero call with king high, this is how it went down.

i had made the ft with him 2 months ago, i had played with him for about half the day on the sunday before reaching the final table. so i knew how he played. i had noticed that when he showed down big hands, he had always raised around 3-3.5x because he was scared of having his good hands busted, and when he had shit, he had raised smaller so he didnt loose too many chips when he got reraised or someone called and played him off the hand.
so he opens to 70k at 15k/30k with a 2.5k ante, off his stack of around 900k. he has opened small and from late possition, so im around 90% sure that he has a bad hand. i look down at queen jack, not a premium hand no, but good enough for a raise to take the pot down here and now. the only raise i can do here is go all in because of my stack size so i do so. SURE that he has no hand to call and even if i am wrong i have blockers to decent hands with my queen and jack.
i ship it in.

he tanks.. and tanks.. and then calls off almost half his stack with king 8. his logic is ridiculous here because although i was sure he was weak, im not going all in with less than 2 pictures, any pair, or any decent ace here in case im wrong. how he can possibly think king 8 is good here is beyond anyone with any poker knowhow. his equity against my range here is around 35%, he is soo lucky to be up against one hand that he is actually ahead of and then to hold with king high. ridiculous play by him, i wouldnt blame him for taking a slight ev edge against me in a spot like that because i had been giving him trouble all day and the previous time we had met on the road to the final table. but king 8 offsuit is not a hand. he raised without a plan, and then tilted by me from previous encounters he decided to take a ridiculously bad gamble.

i wish him every success in the future, but he needs to realise he made a mistake and got very lucky to find himself ahead and to hold, and if anyone doesnt understand this and comes back with, "but he was ahead when he put his money in and he won so it cant be bad play" does not understand poker.

i refused to deal at the final table this time because i was confident i had an edge against many of the players there. sigh at the luck factor of poker kicking me in the teeth at the crucial time.

Ash Mason is a v good player and prob the only guy I've butted heads with a few times in live poker this year who has a I wouldn't want to see on my table a lot in the future.

Testament to his game that with 19 players left I took Ash vs the field in an even money bet to win the comp with Kev. I'm pretty sure having him two to my left coming back on day two is one of the reasons the wheels came off a little too.

ul Ash - hope to see you around soon mate.

Lightweight effort, they were only there for about 20 minutes Kev snaps loads of pics and drip feeds them through weekend whilst sitting with his feet up drinking jack daniels and shouting at Nana (whom we know did all the work whilst playing 3 comps) to get a fucking move on.

so he opens to 70k at 15k/30k with a 2.5k ante, off his stack of around 900k. he has opened small and from late possition, so im around 90% sure that he has a bad hand. i look down at queen jack, not a premium hand no, but good enough for a raise to take the pot down here and now. the only raise i can do here is go all in because of my stack size so i do so.

Updates aren;t always accurate- sometimes Kev joins the action mid hand.

Congrats to Frankie Knight for making the final, guy is a true legend, at 72 he still plays every night and some afternoons too.
I doubt anyone in the uk has played more live tournys than Frankie who is known to play upto 3 a day whilst in vegas lol
Living Legend

He's shit though
Dont be disrespectful

Ok I'll rephrase.

Frankie is a lovely old fellow, with a remarkable ability to put in such a huge live volume. One must thoroughly commend his ability to donate his hard earned in 3 tournaments a day.

Unfortunately however, his play is tez.

If you end up with half the respect Frankie has u'll be allright.

FML, I just wrote out a really long, intelligent, tank-esque reply and somehow managed to lose the lot, so here is the short version:

Bollocks, Im right, leave the poor bloke alone etc

If I could retract the way I went about saying it, I would have as I was in a foul mood at the time. For that I apologise.

However, this is a thread about the £300 tournament of which I was on Frankie's table for quite a while. Calling raises 20bbs deep with J7 off is not my idea of good play and whilst he's a gentleman, he's a bad player. I'm perfectly entitled to say that.

Sigh.... Just sigh.

i did think he was light, ie some random raggy ace, weak king or random picture combination. by light i mean a hand he would open but not call a raise with, however, in case i am wrong in those spots i like to have some sort of hand to stick my chips in with. he made a mistake by calling with k8, and sure, i agree, if he calls with k8, i made a mistake shoving light and should hav waited to shove a hand ahead of his calling range.

also @ royal flush, what am i meant to do if i think qj is ahead there? take a flop and play oop vs the cl? i didnt say i ll only reship with the best hand, i said i ll only reship with some sort of hand, so im not dead if im wrong.

You said QJ is worst hand you reship, that is terrible if you so sure he is light, you should be shipping hella wide.

Self-aggrandizement.

fk sake why do people keep going on?

I didn't say anything about him not being a nice guy.

I think it's wrong to publicly state that someone is "Shit" (whether they are or not is beside the point)

Frankie is an old guy who won't be on here to defend himself. (What ever happened to respect?)

Saying "I was in a bad mood" or "I had a bad beat" is no excuse, and just makes it worse imho.

I don't want an argument Cos, I like you and I think you are a decent bloke. I just think you were out of order.

i had made the ft with him 2 months ago, i had played with him for about half the day on the sunday before reaching the final table. so i knew how he played. i had noticed that when he showed down big hands, he had always raised around 3-3.5x because he was scared of having his good hands busted, and when he had shit, he had raised smaller so he didnt loose too many chips when he got reraised or someone called and played him off the hand.

he tanks.. and tanks.. and then calls off almost half his stack with king 8. his logic is ridiculous here because although i was sure he was weak, im not going all in with less than 2 pictures, any pair, or any decent ace here in case im wrong. how he can possibly think king 8 is good here is beyond anyone with any poker knowhow. his equity against my range here is around 35%, he is soo lucky to be up against one hand that he is actually ahead of and then to hold with king high. ridiculous play by him, i wouldnt blame him for taking a slight ev edge against me in a spot like that because i had been giving him trouble all day and the previous time we had met on the road to the final table. but king 8 offsuit is not a hand. he raised without a plan, and then tilted by me from previous encounters he decided to take a ridiculously bad gamble.

i wish him every success in the future, but he needs to realise he made a mistake and got very lucky to find himself ahead and to hold, and if anyone doesnt understand this and comes back with, "but he was ahead when he put his money in and he won so it cant be bad play" does not understand poker.

i refused to deal at the final table this time because i was confident i had an edge against many of the players there. sigh at the luck factor of poker kicking me in the teeth at the crucial time.

i had made the ft with him 2 months ago, i had played with him for about half the day on the sunday before reaching the final table. so i knew how he played. i had noticed that when he showed down big hands, he had always raised around 3-3.5x because he was scared of having his good hands busted, and when he had shit, he had raised smaller so he didnt loose too many chips when he got reraised or someone called and played him off the hand.
so he opens to 70k at 15k/30k with a 2.5k ante, off his stack of around 900k. he has opened small and from late possition, so im around 90% sure that he has a bad hand. i look down at queen jack, not a premium hand no, but good enough for a raise to take the pot down here and now. the only raise i can do here is go all in because of my stack size so i do so.

Updates aren;t always accurate- sometimes Kev joins the action mid hand.

And awesome call with K8- owned

i hope that ur just tryin to tilt me with that rub down. if not i hope ur on my table in the future.
watch this space, check hendon mob 6 months from now and see which is the winning play
