Just to let anyone that didnt no, this didnt go so well.

Was doing fairly nicely after just moving tables about 4-5 hours in and building my stack well on new table. I open CO and SB jams JTc, i obv snap with KK and it comes J 9 Q K 4. gg me.
Was steaming too as Alan mfkin Stearn fistpumped and cheered the K in and brick on the river even though he wasnt even in the hand! wht a total idiot. I was going to say something but couldn't be bothered.

So then i had like 5700 left, got up2 7k. Opened AKo UTG+1 at 150/300 to 775, button 3 bets to 1925 and the sb tank cold calls! The sb was fairly bad and i think he has like mid pairs and AQ's and stuff a lot here.
So anyway, i jam, the button calls. And the tez sb tanks for over 5 mins and eventually folds what he says was AK too, WP sir.

Button has JJ vs my AKo and i lose that flip for 16-17k.

If i win any of those pots i have between 16-19k at 150/300 and playing good, just so ghey

Yup, justice was served soon after as he made the same jam as the guy next to him with JTo, some guy called AQo and it came T x x x A. weeeeeeeee.

Just no need though after me losing a pot like that, nvvm.

No one wants to see you on their table Rich cos of the sheer destruction you cause, which has only ever been paralleled in zones of warfare but I still don't think that justifies him cheering you to get outdrawn.

Stearn fistpumped when he wasnt even in the hand and someone had lost with KK v JT.

Awful, AWFUL etiquette and makes it obvious to people why he was on our list.

The thing with Alan is he means nothing by it. He's the most harmless bloke on the poker table from what I've seen.

He just has fun when he plays and gets a bit excited by hands like that.

I just don't think he realises that some people wish he would stfu sometimes when they're sat with dust following a sicko beat.

A post to add a little bit of balance, I suppose.

Share a cash table with Alan regularly, at DTD.
Always find him very good company, and he is someone who doesn't take himself too seriously, and takes any banter directed at him in good part.

I obv wasn't at Luton, but if he called the king in, I would be fairly certain he didn't do it with any malice, or personal offence, intended.

I couldnt agree more but still doing it in the first place has to be one of the most annoying things in poker.  Ive seen people smashed in because of it and its the last thing you want to see or hear.

I have no doubts that he isnt doing it to be nasty or to wind people up but thats not an excuse to do it

Gota agree, its not even like he knows me.

If he knew me and was just having a bit of fun, then fair enough. But doing it to some unknown, whos just lost that pot is just ridic.

No I didn't mean that. You should know I don't lose at live cash games anyway.

One time I call his SB raise with J10 and we see an 8910 flop so I check raise all in and he snaps with KK. Obviously I put it in his eye and he didn't stfu for about 10 mins going on about how I went all in with just a pair of tens. Literally trying to rub me down infront of the whole table (when I won the pot!?) until I had to politely tell him he's not so good and what I do with my money is my business.

Ah the memories. Haven't laughed that much in ages.

Alan took it all in good spirit tbf.

I genuinely don't think he means to upset anyone. He just gets over excited and I'm guessing nobody's ever told him that what he's doing might upset some people.

Last night in the £1/2 game at DTD, I shared a table with Alan Stern.

I ribbed him mercilessly (As I usually do) but he took it all in good part and gave as good as he got.

At some point, it occurred to me that he looks a bit like Shakespeare, and I said so. Then as we played, people would come out with things like..

An ace, an ace, my kingdom for an ace...

He told me about the time he lived with a Russian prostitute who used to shout "You are my master!" during sex. He told me he loved it. I told him he was the shallowest person I have ever met. (Which is probably true) He thought it was a compliment, and laughed uproariously when I explained that it wasn't.

At one point I laughed so much that I accidentally spit on Alan's bald head, prompting him to say, "Don't worry, it just washes over me"

It was such a fun game. The players and floor staff were in stitches all night.

Yes, he can be a bit of a prat, (but then can't we all).

Let he who is without sin and all that.

"Two threes or not two threes.... That is the question"

"Now is the river of our discontent"

And my favorite...

"He should be bard"

I have underlying problems

Definately

Had an even better guy last Friday, Cos and Matt met him to.

Unbelievable

Dont know his name or anything, but had to be the most miserable moaning bloke ive ever met. To bring it into context, he actually did a rubdown dance in a guys face when he binked a flip. The dealers were goading me to knock him out, literally. I didnt obv, but i did enjoy standing up and announcing he had to be the happiest man i had ever met, just full of joy.

Exactly the same thing though. He didnt have a clue. He didnt intend to upset anyone, but he upset at least 30 people that evening.

Cos made a very good point the day after when I was moaning about Tasos. I binked a set on the turn after he reraised me with two pair on the flop.
When he saw my hand he threw his cards at the dealer in disgust.

Cos's point was that we are very lucky to have somewhere like this to learn whats right and wrong at the poker table.

Although most of its common sense, someone like Alan doesnt come on here and learn whats right and wrong. Maybe he doesnt care, but as said he probs is a nice bloke and the last thing he is trying to do is upset people.

Unlike the guy who told Simon Lee he made a shit call, people like that just shouldnt be aloud to play breathe.

I've played with Alan for a number of years and agree that he's a nice guy. But you'd think a player with all that live experience would have picked up the fundamental etiquette in the game by now. If a man takes a bad river beat at a crucial time in a tournament it shouldn't be a cause for celebration for a player not in the hand. That's just poor form and shows a real lack of understanding of the game. Alan plays for the pure fun of it, and that's fine, but he should appreciate that is not the case for everyone. It's obvious to any reasonable thinking person that losing players wont see the humour in losing, so you keep such comments to yourself.

On Friday night I jammed a pot and a really friendly Alan-type told my oppo what he thought I had. He didn't mean any harm. But he wasn't in the pot so he should STFU imo. Swearing at the table has been highlighted in recent threads as embarrassing behaviour but I get embarrassed by this sort of inappropriate behaviour tbh. If it's your first ever game these blunders are only natural, but after many years poker experience it just shows a level of ignorance that is bound to cause frustration. No different to drunk players imo, the annoyance just emanates from a friendlier facade, but still serves to spoil the game. Experienced players should be enforcing the boundaries of good etiquette when playing live imo....no matter how nice they are.

I was sat next to Simon when that happened. I was a bit surprised that Dave the TD didn't give the guy a penalty because it was shocking!!

Pointing at Simon in what I thought looked a threatening manner and shouting more than once "SHIT CALL!!"

It's the worst thing I've seen at a poker table. I was disappointed later when he apologised that Simon didn't tell him to shove his apology up his fat fucking arse because that's what I would've done.

The "SHIT" call btw was with AK!!

What a fat idiotic twat!! And if anyone doesn't like what I 've said don't worry I will gladly say it to his fat ugly face.

It was when he told his mate on the phone he was smashing the tourney and was gonna win it all...... how deluded, there were 170 people left and this guy actually thought his 1.5 times the average stack meant he was finalling.

I knew a guy once who had 150k at the end of day one, he sure did cash..................  ;)

I did see his ferrari break down outside DTD once and "someone" blagged the keys off the repairman with comparative ease. Sad to say compassion took over and we gave them back.
