Between us here on blonde there's quite a few degens in one way or another and there's probably not one person who doesn't know a degen or tell a degen story and since they are normally pretty cool stories I thought we should have a thread for them.

I first realised how degen people were when a chinese man at Gala Notts was handing me green chips (£100's) and getting me to go round on the tables he wasn't playing and play his neighbour bets for him.

Another time I was playing blackjack with Dave Smith, again in Gala Notts and the dealer was in autoplay mode. I.e if you were on 17 wouldn't ask if you wanted a card and for some reason this was annoying Dave a little bit. Dave pulled him up on it a few times but he carried on anyway. Anyway few hands later Dave is dealt two pictures, (20) and the dealer has a 10. Everyone else has kind of a made hand. The dealer skips past Dave on the end box and Dave quickly pipes up with, 'excuse me, what are you doing?' just to make a point about being acknowledged more than anything. The dealer replies, 'you don't want a card on 20'. Dave says, 'I do - card please'. Over rolls the ace and Dave somehow makes 21, whilst the dealer busts.

Another card room reg at Gala used to plough money into the fruities like it was nothing. One week he puts around £13k into one machine with a £4000 jackpot and never receives a payout of more than a few hundred quid. Obviously not right when it's supposed to be paying at 97%. Fed up and annoyed he rings some sort of authority, maybe the gaming commission, I can't remember and after a quick check it appears the machine isn't quite right (ldo!). However, the weird thing was that the casino had no obligation to fix it immediately and Mr Fruity was back on that exact machine, the very next night.

lol i used to be a complete fruity degen. My best mates 18th we met at the local at like 8pm, few beers and then onto town. I proceed to put £100 (all my roll) into a £15 jackpot bandit, nip £50 put £30 of it in, the taxi arrives, i decide to wait till the bandit paiiiiiiiiiiiiiis me and get my own cab, figuring this would be better equity. Sure didnt do it all in and walk home. DIE BATTLE AXE £15JP although this machine is/was pretty special.

Best fruity ever was Pie Factory, I still do this day dont know how I was the only one in my local that realised that the higher the feature and cash trails started, showed exactly how close it was to jackpot and progressively got higher and higher. I used it as a bank for literally 6 months just nipping on whenever I saw someone get a good start and then walk away.

Comedy degen story of me and my pool father Mr Rawson at the 3 man team golden cue comp in yarmouth. After being knocked out in the first round at 9am (standard) we were just about to go back to bed when Awesome Rawson muttered the words 'i wonder how much you would have to put in that £250 fruity to win the jackpot?'

15 pints of Guinness, 2 meals and about 10 hours later Rawson decided to take the top feature! I went nuts and it only paid £120.
Got more beers in to make things better.
Matt and his mate aron returned from town and were in fits of laughter that we were still playing the fruit machine.
We even had our own crowd ooooooing and ahhhhhing every time we gambled an 11 for the jackpot and the predictable 12 came in.
We battled on and I can barely remember the end of the story.

Needless to say I woke up in bed with a lot of beanie rounders, a headache, a half eaten pizza and a desire to play the fruit machine again!

On a side note Trigg, saw Bloc Party on Wednesday night. Is it just me or are they now the greatest with that extra bit of confidence and stage presence over a year or so a go.

I remember dealing a £20 rebuy at gala Notts. It was £20 to enter and for dealing you get £2 off each player, so I'm in for £2 quid before rebuys. Skinto at uni and only got one rebuy in the tank. End up with 17k chips from 2k starting at the break and haven't rebought or topped up. Somehow grind and reach the final table, where I get heads up with a friend and we chop for £1700 each.

I play in the cash game after and win a few hundred more. I put zero in the bank obv.

Next day I go back and sit in the cash game. AA vs KK and then I take £600 off a drunk Anthony Holden who tries to bluff me when I flop a set. It's hard enough trying to move me off top pair let alone a s mfking set!

Keep winning until I have like £3k. Got so many chips on the table that I can't carry them and use my cap to carry them.

Anyway, cardroom shuts at 4am and I'm now carrying my net worth inside my cap walking through the casino to the cash desk. I decide to kill a bit of time and unwind by putting a few oddments on the house games. An hour later I'm pulling out my last £50 and 2 minutes later I'm walking home in the cold at 5.30am with zilch.

Matt couldnt stop winning so I kept nicking £100 of him trying to spin it up also.
I owed him about £500 plus id lost about £300 i had in my pocket.
Cant remember exact details but remember moving to blackjack and them repeatedly changing the dealer.
After about an hour I paid matt his £500 back in one huge pile of £5 chips.
I still had £100 and I proceeded to try and spin that up to over £300 so I could go home happy.
About 4am I made it cashed out for £400 went home.
My mate mark was staying at mine and he proceeded to find the cat and wander into my housemates room and threw it at her as she slept peacefully at 4-30am! LOL

Woke up the next morninig and after being violently sick I emptied out my pockets.

whilst in benidorm aged 16 on 1st lads holiday, i got stung on the "find the pea" game after some woman who was running super hot advised me to go for the middle one, sick thing is i didnt notice it was a sting, she appologised for her error, and i proceeded to let her pick me 3 more losers before i finally got the message, then obv i go for one of the other 2 and lose the flip for my case money.

i have some horrifc degen stories from my past that i can smile about now, one included narrowly avoiding a prison sentence that still makes me shiver and laugh at the same time, (What happened to you martin?).

Playing fruit machines financed 4 years of uni for me and we went on some epic motorway trips around the country that i'll never forget, got barred from more pubs than i could rememeber, at one point i knew which machine almost every pub in a 30 mile radius had, so sad.

i've spun a couple of quid into thousands and vice versa so many times. The highs were huge and lows were terrible, glad i pretty much gave it all up when poker came along.

 :D One regular bought a refill key for the Fruities, it was meant to tell him if the hopper was full, only seemed to let him mess with the volume...sure put them on full blast! and they do go very loud!

Think that was same night as the craps lol,so shrewd staying in bed i just went to sleep at the table for a bit.That was my biggest buy in comp by far and I was still mortal with a massive hangover and actually glad when i busto'd.Only bought in coz i was mortal and jealous everyone else was playing,i was that mortal i was trying to get jones to flip for the 1k to buyin and wasnt guna play if i lost.

I've got so many degen stories, i will write a couple of them up later tonight when i'm back at home.

In the meantime, i have a story about my degen friend James Moody (Linux on here).

Today we went to Wethbery races.

I went armed with £300, Moody had with him £110, which he had been saving up for this day for about a week.

We arrive just before the first race but it costs £14 to get in!!! Apparently its the feature day of the year. Moody is tilted by this as it insta takes his roll down to £96 straight away so as soon as we enter the course (10 mins before the first race) Moody asks me if i will flip a coin with him for £4 to get him back to £100. He chooses heads, he wins.

He now has £100, he should be happy yeah? You would think so, but no, he wants his £10 back now aswell. Moody wins again, £110!!!!!. Now i'm fuming because i'm £14 down already and beg Moody to flip me for £20 to give me the chance to be back in the green. He agrees and wins yet again, heads 3 times in a row!!! He is now upto £130 and i'm hating life stuck £34 and down to £250.

To cut a long story short, we miss the first race because we're pissing flipping near the entrance and i end up with £0 in cash. Moody won all my money. He won 12/13 flips and now has £382.

I was absolutely crestfallen, /life 100% type scenes, whilst next to me Moody was jumping through hoops, going crazy.

I bink a double that i have to ring up Stan James for as i have no cash, and bink £1,274. They were Triggs tips. Legend.

Today was the ultimate justice.

But to be fair to Linux, he was still cheering my horse home in the last to land my 25/1 double  :). Which kinda annoyed me as i really wanted to rub it in and get my revenge for earlier. Hes too nice.

for me its gotta be near the end of our vegas trip

me rooks shrewdie benji and trigg were shooting some dice in the bellagio.  I had about $1200 left and we were doing ok at dice, we had been getting massively hammered and smoking huge cigars.

we end up leaving the dice table losing a few hundo, and go over to smash on the roulette.  i wasn't gonna play it but then decided i might have a small edge.  so smashed $200 on black, red spun in.  $200 black again.  red rolls home.  $400 black now, gg red rigged fuck.  we eventually decide to call it a night.

but on the way out we see the legendary game of WAR sitting there.  Trigg is trying to induce us not to do it all in so we can afford a taxi home.  but all of a sudden benjis arm rises into the air and he shouts 'WAAAAARRRR' so we start betting our case money in dollars on it.  me rooks and rich insta do our brains, but benji is spinning his case benjamin up.  trigg grabs a hundo of his winnings to lock in a taxi and benji does the remaining 300 in.  we demand trigg gives the hundo back, which he begrudgingly does.  and benji snap loses it.

we'r storming out the bellagio completely wasted with no money left singing ''we are walking home, were walkin home, were walking home, WERE WALKIN''.  trigg is absolutely livid by this point and runs off for a taxi which he will nip some1 for at the house.  (cue verbal abuse and wanker signs directed at his cab as it drives off).

We begin our 6 mile treck home, and walk round the bellagio fountains, and all look at each other and are all thinking the same thing.  were going in there.

which is exactly what happens rich is left to carry wallets, passports, phones and shoes and us other 3 are in there in a second.  

i'll never forget this day as long as i live.  my feet would never feel the same,  we saw the sunrise over mandalay bay, scaled an 8 foot wall, crashed out under a bridge, walked down a huge concrete hill, it got so bad tht rich lay down on a train track praying for the sweet release of death.

eventually we made it home with benji cruising down the home straight on a small childs ride on car.

Short version is took a mate of mine to Sophisticats for his 25th birthday in January 2007, I was expecting a large chunk of money a month or so later from a business deal. 

Iwent a bit mad in the vip lounge and did about £3k which was pretty much my whole net worth at the time. I didn't care as I was getting paid out in a month right.....

I sure did get paid a month later!

(One of the dancers was Vicki Llloyd who was in Kandy Rain, bet she wishes she spent my money on more singing lessons and not clothes!)

This one sticks out for me most even though I didnt lose money, most of my stupid bets are similar to you guys so not gonna repeat them lol.

A few years ago I was on my first lads holiday in Tenerife, I was 17 I think. There was about 40 of us there or so and it was the usual lads holiday. There was another 10 or so of my mates arriving the day we were leaving so we decided to go meet them for a few drinks before our flight (we were due to get picked up from our hotel at 4am). Anyway, there was a bar there that sold pints of vodka redbull as strong as you want for 5 euros so we went for one of those, pretty much pure vodka. Obviously one leads to another and the next thing I remember is waking up by myself in the airport with some old woman offering me polos as she doesnt think I'll get on the plane in my current state.

About an hour later my mates arrive, finding the whole thing hilarious. They tell me I just left the room with my case and they has no idea where I was. The thing they found so funny was the fact I no longer had my case. To this day no one knows how I got to the airport, as I had no money left, or what happened to my case but the most likely explanation is that I got a taxi and paid for it by giving the driver my case. One day I'm gonna go back there and find the taxi driver wearing my clothes!

When I got home I had pretty much no summer clothes left and no money to buy any more so for a few weeks I was wearing jackets etc in mid July.

Right so there i am on Sunday night, my last night in Vegas, a bit drunk and with an extra wedge of cash as i had a share of the winner in the Venetian deepstack that day, i knew i needed about $2500 for my flight back the next day so figured i would spin the rest or go bust.

Took $2500 to the craps table when i was pretty drunk at about midnight, managed to turn it into 1500 pretty quickly (standard) then all hell broke loose and me and this other guy both had heaven rolls, i had gone from betting $25 on the passline to having $150 on and was a good few k ahead, shortly after a new group of people came along and i quickly did 2k back so did the guy rolling with me before, the table at this point cleared and i was left playing on my own, this is where things got a bit silly.

I was setting out with 100 on the line then obv max bets behind and having 450 on the inside (5-9) i started to roll pretty good again and pretty soon i had it pressed up fairly well my line bet had grown to 250 when i thought i liked the idea of no-one messing with my run good so i asked the pitboss to make it a 250min table (it had been 25) they agreed as i had been "buying karma" (chucking a oner at the croup's before my rolls) obviously i keep running good and before i know it i have 500 on the pass line 2500 behind with the point on 6, by this point i had a rail watching me (a few fine ladies in the group) so i was feeling pretty damn cool as i was smashing the fck out of the Palazzo.

Before i know it i hit the point snap put it back on 6 and snap hit it again, happy days, the crowd are going wild i am feeling on top of the world and have upped the bet to 1k on the line, 4k behind when i set the point on the 9, flirted near the point a few times untill bang i hit it. I had taken a few numbets on the way which at this point i was doing 2250 inside, a quick count and i had worked out i had 21k infront of me, heaven!

Obviously at this point i started thinking see this roll out then bust out of here go to bed and enjoy the flight home tomorrow with 20 cold ones in my bag, that was until i looked around at my ever increasing rail......just as the 7 binked in.

So do i take the 21k or do i drop back down again and keep playing, obviously i decided to do neither and just wack another 1k on the pass line, going against every kind of BR management i have in that game (start every roll small and just try to spin it up) obviously i set the point on 6 or 8, i don't remember which, bink 7 str8 of the bat, i do exactly the same again and low and behold 15k of the 21 has gone, lol, it didn't take long for me to do the rest of it, i threw the shrapnel to the dealers, thanked them for a good game, thanked the rail and walked off laughing to the lifts, fun times.

Part 2 is of course where i do the 2500 i saved back for my flight in the Venetian 5-10-20 game waiting till it was time to go to the airport so i ended up living potless and unable to fly back upper, so a nice sleepless night in premium leaving me time to analyse what fun that craps game was.

Still it could have been worse i guess.

Craps is great fun though, can't be arsed with any other game in Vegas tbh.

Few years back I was at a work Christmas night out.  The night ended and a few of us went to the casino.  I had about  £300 on my person.  Not sure why I had this much on me as the night out was free.  I think I must have gone to the bank.

Anyway in the casino I am at the wheel of death and quickly spin up the £300 to almost 1k and then it goes tits up I done the lot including the taxi fare home, this lasted over a few hours when I realised I had no money left and none of the crowd I went to the casino with were about to nip for the fare I decided to ditch my jacket, with my mobile phone and wallet phoned my Mother told her I had obv blacked out with all the free drink (reversed charges obv) she had to come into town at 5am in the morning to pick me up. 

Next day she was on the phone to the Hotel were the night out was looking to see if anyone had held my jacket in or if a phone had been held in. 

The silly thing I never thought about was that my jacket was part of a suit.

i once lost 250 quid playing pound a point scrabble with my dad.

no, on the battle, the 3 and the 10 (botrh sides of the 7) where no lose numbers so you had 1, 12, 10, and 3 that wher gauranteed not to lose so you got the bonus then stepped , hi lo on a 10 or 3 norm get a no lose 7 or bonus 7 with a step,so it was a empty. Its still going strong today norm make £250-350 per day after meals etc, today done 6 hrs work  6 pints , burger king, all u can eat sushi, 1.5 grams of columbians finest and drinks all night each and me and my mte came away with £90 each after all that.
