Good old hour levels - they are settled into the first level starting with 10,000 chips, at 25 - 50.  We can only wonder what's going on in their hands (and heads) at this point.  Full chip counts, in order, coming in the next 20 minutes, when we reckon they will have moved around enough to be of interest.

Colchester Kev here ...there are no pies and im not starting drinking until 7.30... Luton is a dump !!! but the cardroom is ok :)

Actually, snoopy is working harder than me - some chips showed up (the edible kind) so I only counted half my tables - off for the rest now.

The hand which took the rest of Mr. Hewston's already-diminished stack occurred on a board of Q A 3 5 Q.  Ian Woodley's river raise was called by John with his Queen, but Ian showed the  Ac Ad for a big boat.  Almost to the felt, then...

Near the start of the comp, Tikay added a few chips to his starting stack when he called Burnley John's preflop raise with Td 9d.

Flop came 9c 9s 5h

Burnley John was holding pocket fives and had dollar signs in his eyes.

Fortunatley for the old fella, the turn came the case nine, saving tikay's stack from serious damage.

River was a ten for good measure.

Something drastic has happened to Steve Vladar's chips, I am sorry to report.  Just saw him moving all-in on a  Ah Ks Kd Kc board (!) and getting a caller in Rob Yong.  They both had raggy Aces to split the pot and Steve has to pick another spot to up his 1,100.

Steve Vladar is now officially OUT.

He was down to the felt and pushed in with KQ. A flush draw arrived on the flop, but he failed to 'flush up'.

I believe Dave Barnes may well be the chip leader with 35k. That's just an approximation though. You need to be Rainman to accurately count his stack!

Anthony Kendall (Yes, that's what the plasma screen reads) is STILL in.

He's hovering around 13k, but looking confident.

He has plenty of green chips, which is the smallest denomination. From my experience, this is a sure sign of a blind stealer.

You may have to record the office Louise. Yongster has just doubled up to 17k.

He slowplayed a flopped set allowing his opponent's AK to catch up with an ace on the turn. Rob moved in on the river and was duly paid off.

David Courtney - OUT:  He moved in with  Kd Kc and  As Jh took him on... the flop brought one jack, the turn another and he was looking for a hold'em cash game about 30 seconds later, in no way downcast.  "Next one" he says, cheerfully.

Tighty is down to 5k after tangling with JP.

Both were in the blinds. JP held  Th 7h and Tight had  8h 4h.

The board came out a very harsh Ah 9h 2h putting Tighty into hot hot water.

Tighty bet the flop, JP smooth called.

Turn was a blank. Both checked.

River was another blank. JP made a good check, Tighty bet, JP went all-in for his remainding stack and Tighty called.

9 high flush wins. Ouch. JP was short stacked though, so Tighty lives to fight for another day... or make the 3rd game 20 minutes up the road at cheesey.

The first break has come and gone and the intrepid players are now playing with blinds of 100 - 200.  Still fairly small change, but according to Xuyen there are some early bustouts caused by this being a relatively small comp by some of these players' standards, and so the chase for the old ranking points has been the big draw...

Tighty is now back up to 9.5k after being very short stacked.

Back to back aces and he won both. Miracle.

First set of pocket rockets saw JP raising preflop from early position. Tighty raises all-in and JP calls with jacks. The Tightster doubles up.

Then, on the very next hand, Tighty receives a visit from the bullets yet again. This time Wernick calls his raise, but folds on the flop when Tighty bets out.

Still, he's back in the game and looking a lot more confident.

Great Rob Yong double-up news now -

On a J 9 5 flop, he (from the big blind) bet 1k.  Mateyboy raised to 3k, call.  Turn: 4.  Rob checked, then called the 2k bet.  On the 2 river, Rob checked, and when his opponent put him all-in, called with  9d 6s.  His opponent showed K 10.  Back to 18,000.  Here he is with Dingdell.

I consider us more like soup - Tikay is the stock, holding it all together, I am the bits of carrot which add a bit of colour and texture, and snoopy is the pasta shapes which actually keep you going when you need some energy.  But take away an ingredient and it's just less nice.  Currently he is being regaled by Rob Yong who has re-lost half those chips.  I feel a story coming on.

"What," you may ask, "happened to Tikay's stack?"  Well, from what I gather he called Bambos' raise with  Js Qs.  He bet on the 8 10 J flop, again on the 9 turn (unsurprisingly - that meant a straight and flush draw) but the wheels fell off with the Q on the river.  Bambos set him in and he passed - the  Kd Kc had suddenly come good.  Let's see if Tikay''s going to double it back up.

Actually. snoopy has been regaling me with hummed theme songs from the Children's TV Classics.  But he could probably give it a go.

He bets pcoket rockets on a J42 only to run into a set of twos. All the dough went in, no ace came, and Sami is sent packing.

It looks like it's all about those little flopped sets today - they've been responsible for a high proportion of the early exits, from Willie Tann to Mr. Sami just now.  Paul King's AJ just lost him a fairly big pot too when the 2 10 J board brought someone else a set of Tens.  But he's still in, just about.

DingDell was down to the felt at one point but has now doubled up to 9.3k.

She raised preflop with A-T before moving all-in on a 2-4-5 flop. Mark Harris called with 9-9, but he was soon to be crying in his soup when the river brought a Ten.

Dan Samson doubles up - he saw a  3d 8h Qh board with Greek Jack, who bet and found an all-in check raise.  He called with  Kd Qc, which to be fair was ahead of Dan's  Kh 9h, but the turn and river were both of the heart variety, and he knocked about 10k off K. Dionysiou's stack.

Folded Queens would have made the nuts news now -

Dan Samson raised under the gun with  Qh Qs, got a re-raise and then an all-in from Pino Valentino.  He passed.  They both showed AK and though the  Ad came straight away, it was followed by two Queens!  Lots of shouting drew our attention, but we got the story straight from the horse's mouth.

As for the Office, the dance episode was the other night, along with the dodgy brown jacket. Quality

Bad Girl - OUT.  She says, "off for dinner."  Everyone else will be joining her, as there has been rumour of a buffet coming soon.  Half an hour left at this level, at which time we'll be up for racing to the front of the queue.

TightEnd runs into trouble with his  Qd Qc which was called all-in by  Kc Jd.  The flop brought a Queen, but the following cards were less kind, eventually bringing a straight-finishing  9c on the river.  The next hand his AK ran into Steve Bovis' AA to finish him off after a harsh post-prandial couple of hands.  "It's just tough going for me at the moment - I'm not doing anything wrong so there's no problem though."  I hear you.

Charmaine - he's down to just 7k or so I'm afraid.  They have just broken another table bringing the number of tables remaining to 4.  Play continues until 3:30am today/tomorrow and then tomorrow afternoon the rest happens.  Just going to get some more counts - I leave this pic of Womble and Pino Valentino to amuse you.

With a stack of over 80k, Stuart Fox is threatening the chip leaders.  He just knocked out another player with a lucky pair of Deuces (they were up against QQ) - they hit a flop of  Kc Kd 2s square on and (all-in on the flop) gave him a tower of chips.  Which is hard to count accurately.

Also out are Pino Valentino (who never took his coat off long enough for me to snap his great shirt), Martin Green, and Chris Mycroft.

I must report the demise of Tikay - He spotted a spot on the button and moved in (short stacked again after Ariel Adda pushed him off a big pot) with  6h 7d.  Great timing, as the big blind had  Ks Kd!  The flop and turn brought some hope - 7 8 8 5, but the 5 river sent him out so close to (yet) another final.  Don't let him try to convince you that it was him with the Kings, as I just saw with RedDog and Tracey...

Hi all - just got home and read the reports - great reporting from all!

Having been cruelly dismissed from the tourney (Ok I made a rubbish call) I spent the rest of the evening with Kev drinking gin at the bar and putting the world to rights....never ever drink at the casino so it made a nice change to loose money and care even less about it than before.....hmmmmm.....
