Title: Jake Cody "In the Well"
Post by: TightEnd on January 31, 2010, 04:28:47 PM
He's 21 years old, He's from Rochdale and in January, at EPT Deauville...this happened

1st Jake Cody UK €847,000 + EPT Grand Final seat

Which is a pretty remarkable achievement, in his first ever EPT ahead of 768 other players, and despite being down to the felt six handed when losing a massive race against Mike "Timex" McDonald

Jake posts on here as "neverbluff67" and he has kindly agreed to go "In the Well" for the next week

I don't know a lot about Jake, so putting together a biog for this post was a challenge. Lets settle for this from his blog....

"My days mainly consist of trying to destroy the full tilt mtts, sessions of heads up cash, or going out and spending time with my friends. I learnt to play poker in the back of a pub when i was 15 and iv been playing ever since, constantly trying to learn and improve"

So question away about EPT, his poker life in general, non-poker stuff, living the life of an EMO Poker pro..you know the score

and Jake will pop in when he can to answer your questions.....

The top picture is Jake

The bottom picture is one of the many similar images you get when you put "Jake Cody" into Google Images....

Do you blame your sudden influx of friends on Facebook down to the fact you just won €847,000, or have you always been that popular.

Have you ever bought anyone into a tournament of no limited hold em (100% of buy in) to find out they had sold pieces of themselves to others behind your back?

If so, what do you think of this practice?

Also, prob worth mentioning the 104 hand for those who don't know.

Congrats on your win!

From PokerStars blog.

2.56pm: Oh my! That Lemaire bust out in full

Hold on to your seats, people, this one is pretty nasty. Hugo Lemaire started off proceedings with a 70,000 raise before Jake Cody three-bet to 193,000. Lemaire seemed interested as he quickly slipped of his headphones to hear the total raise. He then raised again to a total of 410,000. "How much do you have?" asked Cody.

"One point three million behind, so one point seven total," was the reply.

Cody sat in silence for a minute then announced he was all in - and the call was instant. Both had similar sized stacks so this pot was worth around 3.5million. Cody calmly opened the huge T♠4♣ and saw he was in great trouble against his opponent's K♠K♥.

This game can be so cruel, though, and so it proved on the 6♦5♠3♦A♦7♣. An all action flop brought an open-ended straight draw for the young Brit and it duly came in on the river to take the monster pot. A quick countdown of the chips also confirmed the elimination in 18th place of the unlucky Hugo Lemaire.

Talk us through this hand please, what was the history between the two of you, and the dynamics that led to you playing it as you did?

Talk us through this hand please, what was the history between the two of you, and the dynamics that led to you playing it as you did?

I went into day4 around 7/24 and i was looking at the payout structure the night before and noticed how ridiculously top heavy it was.    The jump from 24th-10th was relatively meaningless compared to the jump from 9th+ so i wanted to go for it and put myself in a position to win it rather than grind to a relatively small payjump.   Villain was at my table from the start of the day but id not played with him previously, i didn't know much about him besides that he was  some sort of Euro player (not French) kinda scandi looking and that he has had some good scores online.  He played a pot prior to this where he flatted a raise in position, floated the QTT flop and then minraised a turn barrel with air so i knew he wasn't just playing ABC.  Id been opening/3betting fairly often but id yet to 3bet the villain prior to this hand, we had played a few pots postflop and id won them all with no showdown, i felt he was starting to get agitated by me.

So anyway playing 1.7m he makes it 72k in the hijack at 15k/30k/3k and i 3bet to 193 in the sb with T4o, id already decided i was likely 3b/5betting here vs this villain, bb folds and he doesn't snap click it back but he ponders for a short time and then makes it 410k, he looked SO nervous, he was breathing really heavily and this made up my mind for sure that i was jamming so i did, and you know the rest…  It was set up kinda perfectly for him and don't regret the jam at all though I do regret doing it with that hand tbh because it has such terrible equity vs his calling range but w/e i felt it gets through loads and its a hilarious story/hand to get there with if i was wrong :D

I also felt this hand helped me win so many pots with two tables left and at the final table.  A lot of the guys didn't want anything to do with me because i obviously appeared really reckless/fearless about getting knocked out.   And they knew i could put them in super awkward/tough spots they literally just let me run them over even more easily.

For those of us who don't know

What are your normal games/limits/disciplines?

You qualified for EPT Deauville online?

Im pretty much strictly a mid-high stakes tournament player online and live, my bread and butter game did used to be headsup cash though and i occasionally play that too.

I didn't qualify online, id just got back from PCA which went terribly live and Matt and Nicky persuaded me to come along to Deauville, so i thought ill take a shot because of how awful the standard was supposed to be and then just grind online hard for a few months if it goes badly.  I had planned to buy-in but binked a 250r live sat a few days before.

i love this question
overall i would say 2.5/10 but im really really good at iso'ing the fish (sykes) and crushing him headsup because he cracks under pressure so im mad profitable in the game even though im the worst player
Sykes 5/10
Macdonald 7/10
Mitchell 9/10
Scotty 10/10 he was hustling imo and would have detroyed us in the big game at bobbys wall

given that you can go back if you bust and have mad-ish ones if you win the shove is def optimal/+lifeEV

at first, totally understandably they were completely against it but after a while and when they saw how hard i was working to become better and how consistently i was making money they came round to the idea and although it might not be the most honourable job i think/hope that they're proud of what iv achieved.

its hard to really describe it as taking a step, it just kind of happened, i was playing poker more and more, going to college less and less and eventually decided it was pointless to carry on with college right now whilst i was making this amount of money and thought if it all fails i can just carry on with education when im a bit older.

This is a really tough question..
Best Online..   theres obv the usual suspects gboro/moorman etc, but i really hate playing against Eisenhower and mendieta19 they always seem to know exactly what im doing, also somebody like Belowabove is so hard to play against because hes so unpredictable.

Best Live..    there was a few sick unknown Euro guys deep in the EPT that i thought played really really well, but im going to go with Timex i think, he just doesn't seem to make mistakes, we spoke about hands at the breaks a couple of times and hes just ridiculously good

Elisha Cuthbert & Hayley Williams imo :D

How do you get motivation to grind a sunday when uve just won mad ones?

plans on stalling/grimming evans?

i literally love playing, ill still grind like $24 freezeouts etc when i put sessions in, hopefully it won't get old even though the money won't mean as much.
Probably will be playing a lot more live this year.

not thought about it, open to suggestions though?

Firstly - WP fella - great score

a few quick fire questions if I may?

1. Is it true you are afriad of flying - if so- how are you gonna get to vegas?

2. Do you feel like you have won a life changing sum of money? Has it sunk in just how much you have?

3. what have you done with the hoody you played in - is it getting "retired" - or is it never coming off?

How did you take the step from casual player to pro?

Best player you've played against live and online?

nandos order?

wsop 2010?

with abit of a unique look/ aggressive style/ in lots of pots/ not that many famous young brit players - you think you have a chance/interested in getting a sponsor?

who's the biggest degen out of the young pros who are on the circuit?

<3 nandos       double chicken on pitta with chips & coleslaw..  medium or hot.

Wellll into flipping for everything possible though so sometimes we flip for whether we get a starter, what we get, how hot, who pays etc, it usually ends with some hilarious consequences lol.  Always push it to the extreme especially with Tom Macdonald.  Im not sure how many of you know about this story but last year, me and Tom were on a night out in Manchester, it was like 2am hilar drunk and we knew that Perrins and Eames were going to Brighton the next day for a tournament but there was also a student party in Newcastle so we decided we should flip on where we go.  We get a few more Jagerbombs and Sailor Jerrys then decide it would be funny to add a few comedy places to the flip so we could end up somewhere stupid.  So we thought Dublin could be fun.. and Edinburgh so now its a 4way flip on where to go.  The club closes around half 2 and we get a taxi, not having flipped yet we think fuck it lets just go to the airport and flip when we get there on where to go.  We snap taxi it back to my house and i turbo pack while Tom grabs his bag and off we go to the airport.  We're fucked at this point and trying to persuade Colin the taxi driver to come with us, unfortunately he declines.  We stumble into the airport and see what flights are available, its escalated now and we're set on going to another country.  Orlando was our number one choice but we needed a visa sigh and injections to go to places like Thailand etc.  The choices were Madrid, Ibiza, Paris, Bruges, Barcelona, Milan and a few others so we drunkenly flip and end up with Paris, didn't think it was the best one at the time tbh until Tom says lets go to Disneyland!   Still drunk and very carried away we start ringing everyone on our phonebook to see if anyone else is up for it, i know we rang a few people on here about it lol.  Surprisingly nobody wanted to meet us at the airport at 4am while we were singing down the phone.  Im fuck scared of flying but hadn't sobered up so it was all good.

We get into Paris at around 7am and snap taxi it to Disneyland and end up spending 3days at the Disney hotel and going on all the rides and seeing all the character going to shows etc it was fucking awesome lol.  We even have photographic evidence of the whole trip, while drunk at the airport we bought a camera and took pictures of everything and us with Mickey Mouse :D.   It was probably one of the funniest moments of my life when we woke up the next day with Disney duvet covers in Disneyland thinking wtf happened last night, i just looked over at Tom and couldn't stop laughing.

About sponsorship - Im hoping so, iv already been contacted by some smaller sites but im waiting it out for one of the bigger ones, not got my heart set on it really but it would be cool.

Biggest degen -  Iv heard Middy is, but from personal experience/what iv seen im gonna say Riverman

1.  Yes terrified, Perrins is way worse than i am though.  We think were going to set off a month early and get a partycruise to NewYork then roadtrip it across America stopping at all the fun cities along the way

2.  Nah it still doesn't feel real at all, can't even imagine that amount of money in my bank tbh.  Not going to let it go to my head though.

3.  I bought that hoody on Day1 and wore it with the hoodup and listened to my ipod all day, im really supersticious and day1 went well so i wore it on day2 and it went well again so then i had to wear it everyday, it might have smelt awful, probably gave me an edge lol.   Ill probably wear it to some live events this year still.

Iv read lots of poker books and they're really really good for amateur players learning the basics but for any thinking player whos been around a while iv not read a book that had any advanced stuff in it.  The best way to improve is to talk about hands with good players and discuss situations that have come up.  Im in a great spot where i can discuss hands with lots of players i respect hugely a lot of whom have hugely different styles too which helps you look at spots from different perspectives.

Harrington on Holdem is probably the best book iv read though.  A lot of them are really dated.

Same goes with poker training sites i think, although they definitely help actually talking about hands with good players is invaluable and even constantly double checking on maybe obvious spots can help plug so many leaks.

Best pringles flavour is sour cream and chive and its not close.

On the sponsorship front just wait it out, you will get a UK Stars deal or a red name full tilt without a doubt, winning is everything and you're a good kid, come across well and are marketable. Well done mate.

Excellent result mate, watched it all while in your home city visiting my sister, u played great. Can't wait for your 10-4 story to come up while James Akenhead is around as the mention of 10-4 still yilts him after the 2008 WSOP lol.

U said your parents accepted you playing poker when they saw how hard you were working....what hard work did you do that didn't look like arsing about on a laptop? Do you work hard?

Which three players do u not want to see on your table in a uk event because u rate them?

Which three players do u not want to see on your table in a uk event because they're pricks....i think i can remember two from a conversation in Ireland lol.

Which three players would u not mind seeing on your table in a uk event because they're not as good as they think they are?

Who is the best young player in the UK? Who will be the next UK EPT winner?

How different was the standard in this tourney compared to comps such as GUKPT's or any other live tournys youve played? Is this affected by it being in France?

Did you ever accidently rub up against Kara Scott during the trophy presentation, if not, why not?!?!?!

thanks Jeff, appreciate it.  Haha 104o has something about it, Williams 4bet and showed at the GUKPT final table and im sure thats what that Russian guy had against Hellmuth >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99-jcla0MHc&feature=PlayList&p=B36745DD60A059D0&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=26    not sure how to embed, hilarious video though.

U said your parents accepted you playing poker when they saw how hard you were working....what hard work did you do that didn't look like arsing about on a laptop? Do you work hard?

i know that im really really lucky to be in the position i am now, anyone who can do this for a living is.  But, i have worked hard, sometimes playing 10-16hr days for weeks at a time and its been really tough at times, iv been on the edge of quitting more than once.

Which three players do u not want to see on your table in a uk event because u rate them?

Ben Vinson
Laurence Houghton
Paul Foltyn

Which three players do u not want to see on your table in a uk event because they're pricks....i think i can remember two from a conversation in Ireland lol.

loll i know who you mean but there's def more annoying players than them.
i don't really like to call people out on forums because they might be alright guys and im just going off minimal time spent with them but if im sat there for like 8hours+ i would prefer not to have to put up with

Andy Bradshaw
Richard Kellett
Joe Grech

Which three players would u not mind seeing on your table in a uk event because they're not as good as they think they are?

ha the controversial ones are always the best.
A few instantly spring to mind, thing is im not really sure i should be calling out players on a public forum when i don't know them and im sure it would piss some people off.  I remember you saying about the blog incident Jeff, and how much it annoyed you and this is a similar situation.

Who is the best young player in the UK?

This might sound biased, but Tom Macdonald has the best 'poker mind' out of all the young players iv spoken to, he has huge potential.

Who will be the next UK EPT winner?

Theres a few of us going to Copenhagen and i can see Jon Spinks winning, he is due imo.

How long did it actually take you to get to the Bahamas?

Forever lol it was a nightmare, i booked everything online and kept on refreshing the page and something must have fucked up..   i get to mcr airport in the morning and just as im getting on the plane i check that iv got my tickets and think iv got like an hour spare between changing flights at Gatwick, then the announcement says we will be arriving in HEATHROW at 11, i was like ffs but already on the plane i thought theres a chance i might be able to get from Heathrow to Gatwick in time.  No chance so they i can rearrange the Gatwick-Orlando flight but not until the next day and i don't have my laptop with me, im on my own because i wanted to arrive early to play some main event sats, already dreading the flight.  I decided to tilt come home to Rochdale so got the train back then grinded online that night and then had second thoughts lol and knew i would regret it if i didn't go so didn't sleep and snap got the train back down to London then Gatwick in the morning.  Finally get to Orlando and the Orlando-Nassau flight has been delayed until the next day so im running ridic bad until they offer me free food and a free suite in the Hyatt.. BINK :)   Eventually get to the Bahamas after like 3 days of travelling lol.

I would say this is definately the weakest EPT leg and its standard probably not totally different to GUKPT but in a way its the opposite.  GUKPT's seem to be really nitty in general and it was the opposite in this tournament, people 7x'ing etc.  There was one hilarious hand where the co opens to 1200 at 200/400/50 and the bb peels playing like 26k with original raiser covering, flop 267, check original raiser bets 1200, guy makes it 4200, opener then makes it 15k and guy jams for 25k total.. opener snaps with a set of 66s guy who jammed 25k with no fold equity..  QJo drawing dead lol.

Michelle Orpe was really nice she came and had drinks with us at the bar afterwards :)

pretty lazy and it's way easier to eat and the pitta is the nuts

I'm going to go for the pitta option in the hope it might help me win an EPT. Cheers bro :)

what's the biggest improvement you've made to your game in that time?

I think becoming more flexible and adjusting to the table more rather than thinking "never raise fold x amount of bb's" etc when there's definitely spots where you can raise fold vs certain players and raise into bad stacks of super nitty players etc.  Also not fucking about on facebook/forums etc when im playing definitely helps so much.

What's the single biggest leak the standard online MTT reg has in online tournaments?
Following too many "rules".

Same question but for live tournaments?
Having no idea whats in the pot regards to post flop bet sizing and their raise calling ranges and raise folding ranges vs 10-20bb stacks of different players are usually horrific

What would be your "perfect" online tournament? (obv quite open question) / What's your current fav tournament?
anything 6max, high stakes 6max freezouts for the huge win,   prob the tilt 320 6max on saturdays

best/worst trip so far for poker? (excluding Deauville obv)

best is probably Madrid or Venice, both of those definitely stand out cant wait to go again this year.

worst if i can include Deauville, then it is probably there lol obviously the poker went amazing but i absolutely couldn't stand the place.  I couldn't wait to get home, me Matt and Nicky were treated really bad by the staff there and its just a weird little town full of snobs with nothing to do, we were all hugely tilted by everyone there.  You could tell we were being looked down on.

Excluding Deauville, everywhere abroad has been really fun so im gonna say Walsall.. most boring leg of the GUKPT

Hi Jake,

I was wondering if you were dead set on this trip to Vegas for the WSOP this summer with the likes of Pez102, LeKnave, Cod Meharly and Hitthehole.

A few of us including myself, Deucebabydeuce, PoisonArrowFrog, ChipRich20, TheOracle8 and possibly MKKMOO are planing a trip to Skegness instead for just £130PP. We will be staying in a Mobile Home, but it will have all the modern amenities including a stove and we're even hoping that there is a games room/cupboard which may house a pack of cards so we can have the odd game of poker on the trip. There should be a TV in every mobile home so as long as we can get signal from the aerial we should be all set for the world cup games.

Fancy it?

Can't believe I've not heard the Disney land story yet that is pure comedy.

I expect some degen nights on Broad street. No more £50 and £100 bribes to get into walkabout, the worst bar on Broad street. From now on we will be bribing them with £2400, a years salary to a bouncer in Birmingham.

What would be worse for your health? 8 pints of coca-cola (regular) or 8 pints of lager (4%) a day.

it worked out to be a pretty perfect 3barrel spot because his range is pretty much all one pair hands so its really hard for him to call the river

the show was to tilt him and his support, i would never normally show something like that i think its normally a pretty douchey move but i got carried away with it all lol

I woulda thought it was way over.....

Andy Murray bought a ferrari for £100k and it was the same price to insure...albeit he has only been driving 5 months but would still expect with R8 to be at least £10-15k for a 21 year old male

Narrr

My 1.2 grande punto cost me £1800 per year to insure and that was when I was 19, when I turned 20 I managed to get it down to £700 but still putting things in perspective you should expect to pay around a 3rd of the cars value when you are young.

I dont think you will find it as high as a 3rd of the cars value.
Hes not a celebrity so it wont cost anywhere near as much as murrays.

I had a fairly powerful car for my age when I turned 21 (nowhere near as fancy as that though)
Cost me £2700 cheapest i could find it and i put massive effort into finding it cheapest.

Try Adrian Flux, they served me well for the last couple and came out the cheapest in the 2nd and 3rd years

---------

Im guessing about 4-5K

The value of the insured vehicle has very little bearing on the premium for a low-medium value car for young drivers.  The primary consideration of the insurer is how much damage can you do with it!  You can do just as much damage with a £400 car, as you can with a £5k car, therefore there will be very little differentiation in the premiums.  The highest risk when the value of the insured vehicle is of low-medium value is the value of other vehicles you might hit and personal injury and death of those other drivers.  I'm afraid the statistics show that young drivers (usually male, but not exclusively so) are significantly more likely to cause an accident and therefore be classed as "at fault" in terms of insurance pay outs.  The exposure of the insurance companies is effectively limitless (especially if death or serious injury is caused) therefore the premiums reflect this.

When insurance companies look at a premium calculation for a young male for a high value vehicle, there are a couple of other factors taken into account, namely the value of your vehicle plus your ability to drive the high value vehicle (they are usually high performance vehicles).  At 21 you have little experience (unless you're Lewis Hamilton perhaps) and they have to factor in the risk that you will make an error whilst driving it (usually relating to speed) that will cause an accident.  Their exposure isn't necessarily higher (except for the higher value of the insured vehicle) but the propensity (chance) of you causing an accident increases (this is a fact - there are very complex statistics compiled by the insurance companies which prove this).

Like dan said, it would be around £3.5k/£4.5k. As he's driven for 4 years now......  pressuming he no points!! u can probs add about £1k on that though for every 3 points you have... maybe more the more points you have.

Anyone buying a personalised plate needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror...

Jake, is it true it's possible to spend almost as much on add ons with an R8 as the car costs itself? They charge you for picking it up or something?

i'm gonna ask you the same questions I asked Toby, see who has better answers, and therefore decide who should win english PoY. So far he hasn't answered, so you are the favourite for the award.

sambuka or tequila?

who could do more pressups..you or john eames?

bocce?

best english player? (answer Toby or you is not allowed)

who is taller.. karl marlenholz or ali mallu on james atkin's shoulders?

favourite flavour of walkers? here are your choices..
salt and linekar
cheese and owen
prawn wright phillips
roast schweinsteiger

who has better people skills.. john eames or a cat?

what is tougher..answering my questions or doing a chinup?

if you could you use your winnings to charter the roflcopter (flown by flushy) for a cheeky trip to nandos or pizza hut (via the lolcano), which one you you choose?

cheers Jaaake

(sorry for peeking on the rail) When you first started playing these 500-1k events what kind of roll did you have and did you ever let the money get to you or were you already used to playing these kind of buyins online? Are these kind of tournies as soft as reported and would you suggest people take shots at them to drstically improve their roll?

When i first played a GUKPT it was 2-3 years ago in Blackpool, me and Matt Perrins too a shot lol in the 300 side both got deep but didnt cash we then grinded online solid for 3-4 days to try and win 1k sterling for the main and we both did!  at that point it was probably 25% at least of my roll but just wanted to play for the experience and whenever ive played live iv never really thought about br management iv just used profit and as long as i had enough to grind the 'bread and butter' online then i didnt mind taking shots that i could afford.   Anyway went on to bubble Blackpool Main event and thats the closest iv ever come to cashing!  My record in them is horrendous, played way more than 10 and never cashed :( cant do well in them to save my life!  Id still really like to win one,cos its where i started out in live poker.     Live poker is pretty much never tough besides a few events it varies from weak to ridiculously weak.

I definitely think taking occasional shots is a good thing it makes your usual stakes seem a lot easier too.

Interesting question,    iv never seen or been involved in anything that i thought was out of line but it does seem that we are the most vocal but is that a bad thing?
It makes the atmosphere electric and i dont see how it would be bad for poker if everyones railers were like i think it would be amazing if chanting etc caught on

Congratualations on your recent win! - awesome

What do you do to prepare for a 3/4/5 day tourney?

How do you stop yourself tilting after you lost a big pot? (specially if u got highly ul in it)

What keeps you going, when you are multi tabling online mtt's and you get knocked out of a few, and still have some to play?, like how do you stay focused?

Whats your biggest strength, and whats your biggest weakness?

Have you got a girlfriend?, why do you think so many male pro players don't have one?

The same reason why Tiger Woods, Wayne Rooney and Ashley Cole among many others can't remain loyal to one girl.

What are your thoughts on the Brit rails? Lots of Yanks do not realise its in good spirit and think its quite aggressive, which is very much at odds with your humble nice guy persona - did you at any point feel a bit concerned it goes to far?

Saw this thread yesterday i do stalk blonde quite a bit! but was very very tired and hungover all day!
First of all thank you thank you thank you to everyone that sent good luck and congrats messages and showed support it was realy really cool and nice to have so many people who seemed to genuinly want me to win.

Anyway on to the questions...

What is your schedule for the rest of the WSOP?

Does this win change that schedule?

My schedule wont change i dont think...  still playing as many holdem events as i can fit in but then coming straight home after the main event...  i've been out here since early May so will definitely be ready to come home by then!

Out of the three majors easily EPT Deauville.. that gave me the opportunity to do so much more and gave me a lot of freedom to play what i wanted and a lot of confidence.
But overall when i came second in the ftops the year before i think that was a big turning point... it was my first really big score and it felt like things had been starting to click for a while running up to that and it was a huge boost.

I just posted about this in the Funking for the triple crown thread so ill ust copy and paste what i put..

about the rail...
i thought it was an electric atmosphere in both matches and Both Gus and Yevgeniy were both really cool and sporting about it all..    half way through the Timoshenko match the tournament director came over and asked both of us if we were ok and if we wanted some of the crowd to quiet down and/or be ejected and he said no and that he loved it and he was encouraging his rail to be louder..   i dont see how it can be bad for the game, it was all in good spirits and added to the atmosphere.. im sure it will make good TV.

not that much...  i dont see the point of gambling where you dont have an edge it seems pretty silly.
ry However i do sometimes put sports bets on when i go to them, best when we do it as a group..  we went to the UFC last week in Vegas and all put the same bet on a fight and it he won and it was really fun!
And i have been playing some low stakes blackjack and pai gow poker this trip but thats mainly for the free drinks :D

When you are playing aggro players like Ansky and the French guy in the quarters how do you play 15-25bb stacks as they probably dont have a tonne of experience in this format with these stack sizes.

For example, say we have 17 bigs how'd you play these hands, obv i know game flow is super important..

22
78s
910
A3s
A10o

My question is: do you like my terrace chant below and will you get your rail to sing it at your next FT?

To the tune of "Torres" or w/e it's called

He three bets pre, he jams the turn .... Cody Cody
He'll peel the flop and float 2 streets .... Cody Cody

Im not really sure where to start here..   i mean, of course id love to be sponsored but only with the right deal, i chose not to rush into anything and so far it hasn't worked out but maybe it will in the future.  I don't think of it as the be all and end all.   Hopefully ill keep winning and if the right deal comes up as a result.. then awesome!

22
78s
910
A3s
A10o

The strcuture in the tournament meant that you were allocated a third of your chips at the start of the match and two further addons which were available at any time but not during a hand, i decided against the high stakes cash sickos it would be stupid to buyin for my entire stack and get ego involved and play them 250bb deep, so i just tried to keep it shallowish between 20-60bb deep where hopefully they were out of their comfort zone and where i was a lot more comfortable.

say we have 17 bigs how'd you play these hands, obv i know game flow is super important..

22
78s
910
A3s
A10o

Out of position in the big blind i would be reshoving all of these hands against all but the tightest opponents or maybe ones that i felt might not have a raise folding range vs my stack there.  But of course gameflow, live tells etc comes into it to.

On the button, 22s is the most awkward...   id probably either open shove but hate it cos theres no ante.. or sometimes limp/jam.
78s again i dont mind limp/jamming against some opponents but i think raise folding is okay.
910 similar to 78s.. either limp/jam or raise fold
with both of the above hands i might just open fold too.
A3s i think raise calling and limp/jamming both ok
ATo easy raise call
