Gurdeu folds KK face up Craig shows, kindly, AA Gurdeu has done over half his stack and has gone for a walk "just to get me head round that I've had that five minutes into the competition" Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2010, 05:30:08 PM With 707 runners in the field we've now broken the Irish Open record. 696 remain mid way through Level 2
Some chip counts Dewi James with 12,000 is sitting next to Snooker's Ken Docherty with 11,000 The Camel has 13,000 chatting merrily to Roland DeWolfe on the next table (90 minutes into his current massage) 12,000 Wadey Ashraf 20,000 when I just popped past John Eames 9,000 and a study in concentration Ali Mallu 9,000 but eyes flitting everyhwere, fidgetting in his seat. No blackjack tables here Mr Mallu! Rumit Somaiya 11,000 Kara Scott 9,000 Greek Jack Dionysiou for DTD 13,000 Brian BAM Martin 9,000 Nik Persaud of BlackBelt over 20,000 The Mole 13,000 sitting two to the left of Richard Chufty Ashby 11,000.Same table Barney Boatman 8,000 Chris Moorman 8,000 Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2010, 05:31:26 PM Wadey is doing well and glowing. He is upto 17k after turning the nut flush but on a paired board and by playing Aces sneekily but perhaps didn't need to be so cheeky as his opponent had Kings.
Wadey "I got a feeling about this one Maria, yeah, I got a gooood feeling!" Cossy pants on about 7k after holding Queens v Kings and telling me in Greek which was quite amusing as Feldman was straining to listen in lol. Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2010, 05:32:30 PM I arrive as Praz Banzi check calls on a J-7-6 board to a 1500 bet from neighbour Jim O'Callaghan (right of your picture), which is a pot sized bet
On the 10 turn Banzi checks and O'Callaghan fires out an over-bet of 6,500, more or less setting Banzi in Banzi immediately folds Q-Q face up and O'Callaghan shows K-K Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2010, 05:53:40 PM Iwan Jones (oioisaveloy on blonde) feels he is now "free-rolling"
Why? Well first he flopped a set of sixes but ran into Ross Boatman's flopped straight Escaping with only minor damage he played 55 in early position and saw an unraised flop of 4-7-7 against Big blind Rene Bradza Bradza bet, Jones raised and Bradza called It went check-check on the 10 turn The river came a 5 Bradz led out for 1,000, Jones made it 3,100 leaving himself 3,100 back and obviously calling anything Bradza flat called Jones reports "so obviously I must have him, lovely river. I flip over my house and go to rake in the pot at which point he turns over 10-10!" Left with 3,000 then, Iwan thinks anything from here is a bonus Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2010, 06:09:55 PM We're on a twenty minute break here
708 started, 668 left Prize Pool €2,265,600 Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2010, 06:30:00 PM Cos Greekstein had a near double up to 16k just before the break.
A lady had limped 100 utg and Cos bumped it up to 275 from the cutoff. Lady makes it 1k, Cos takes a flop: K-J-3 check, check Turn: A Lady fires out 2k, Cos calls River 10 Lady checks, Cos fires out 4,875 leaving about 1k behind in change. After some dwellage the lady painfully called to show a flopped set of Kings and Cos sheepishly got out of jail on the river and tabled A-Q for the straight!! Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 02, 2010, 07:36:26 PM DTD Qualifiers Update

John Gardner 3k ("Not very many, just say that!") Mickey Wernick 1.7k and sighing Moorman 8.6k Praz 6k Cos 30k Brian Townsend 8k - Hoping to go one better than his mrs last year Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2010, 07:49:58 PM I too haven't found many big pots, even with 60 tables to choose from. Pot luck whether you happen to be in the right place at the right time
In news, Greek Stein has been moved two to Channing's left, and still looks confident on over 30,000 Keith The Camel Hawkins also has over 30,000 and I saw him raise pre-twice and take down both pots uncontested post-flop with continuation bets DTD Qualifier Jonathan Butters approaches 20,000, with Gurdu Millan still nursing a short-stack Also short and clinging on is Iwan Jones, back to 5,500 Roland De Wolfe 12,000 Tim Blake back to his 10,000 starting stack Jen Mason who is on the same table as legend Donnacha O'Dea is going onto the feature table next Flip Flop Brownsden up to 16,000 Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2010, 08:14:34 PM Keith Hawkins 50,000. Difficult to tell for sure but around and about the chip leader from a quick scoot round the tables
Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2010, 08:15:09 PM Praz Bansi & Javed Abrahams are both out and both looking for flights to "get out if this bokd country"
They kinda mirrored each other, both getting there short stacks back to over 10k. Praz 3 bet with AhKh and got a shove from a similar stack which Praz called and couldn't beat pocket 7's. I have Aces in the big blind. I pump it up. Original raiser passes and the caller flats me. Flop 8-9-10 and we manage to get it all in. He shows Q-10. At this point the original raiser tells the table he passed J-J. Mark Wright had moved to Dan Harrington's table about an hour a go, he says he hadn't played one hand prior to this one.
With a 7k stack at the start of the hand, Dan went all in the turn for about 3k. The board was Jh 8c 3d 8h Matey who was all in with the call, indeed made the call with Ks 8s. Dan tabled 5s 6s with a few raised and furrowed brows from his table mates. No out to help Dan possible and he is outski. With no exact figures in just yet, we are looking at approx 250 players returning tomorrow at 2pm. There will also be a seat redraw for Day2. Refreshed and raring to go tomorrow with a lot less tables to manouvre through, we should be able to pick out more of the action from specific players. Remember guys we are here to help you too so get your requests in nice and early for anyone you want us to focus on. Full chip count to follow in the morning. Goodnight all!!! on April 03, 2010, 12:14:07 PM DTD Qualifier wise the following players are left
Butters Jonothon 44,550 8 6 Herbert Jason 25,475 17 5 Ashrafÿÿ ÿ Waheed 20,800 21 4 Millan Tony 19,500 21 2 Which means that Mr Butters must have had a stonking last level as he was marooned on 15,000 chips all day Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 03, 2010, 12:15:29 PM This promises to be a very exciting day. We have The Camel in the chip lead, where he was for most of yesterday. The very talented blonde legend Jen Mason is lurking just behind, and she was certainly sounding very confident at the end of play yesterday.
Elswhere the likes of railtard1, 810ofclubs, GreekStein, RobS, FlipFlop Brownsden, BAM and JaffaCake are all in with a shout for blondes. I know they'd appreciate your support this afternoon and onwards All you need to do is shout them on, request information from us and we'll (it being easier to get hands on 25 tables rather than 70) do the rest Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 03, 2010, 02:39:26 PM One of the DTD Qualifiers was a certain Jason Herbert who we didn't look out for yesterday because we heard he sold his seat to his friend. Indeed he did but he did play the event due to winning "2 or 3" seats, hence the paddy power shirt alongside his DTD badge.
Jason Herbert - 25, 475 Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 03, 2010, 02:48:58 PM Prize structure announced

He was bemoaning the fact that they chose a feature table with no player having above avergae chips! I believe his exit was A5 v A6 whilst turning a 5 but not liking the 6 on the river.
There is now a new feature table with Keith Hawkins (the camel) and Iwan Jones who has done a great come back job. Live Stream below: http://www.paddypowerpoker.com/tournaments/irishopen/livestream Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 03, 2010, 04:18:55 PM Stu Rutter is positively flush. He has gone from 5k to 24k whilst being all in 5 times and winning 3 of them.
He also knocked out Paul Gourlay with AJ v KJ and left Gourlay reeling after just hearing about the free drinks in the players lounge. It's ok, Paul can probably just buy out the entire bar!! Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 03, 2010, 04:36:05 PM Cos was upto 82k down to 65k and now currently residing on 72k. With table mates big stacked Ross Boatman, Ben Roberts & the WSOP near final tablist John Magill, I suspect things will be lively.
Julian steady on 17k Jen slightly up 95k and staying quiet. Ben Dobson 20k Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 03, 2010, 04:38:24 PM James Mithcell battled pre flop with his oppo's 20k stack but came up against QUEENS which were triumphant v his JACKS.
He still has 3 tall stacks behind (very descriptive I know lol). ------------------------------------------------------------- The organisers tell me that "in theory" we shall be playing 6 levels today. If we hit the money at 72 players though, the day will definately come to a stop! Currently 170 players remaining. Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 03, 2010, 04:50:37 PM Marc Wright is OUT.
He lost a big pot to his neighbour who he tangled with earlier. Marc held JQ on a 10 9 6 flop but his oppo held J10 and held. That hand left him with 3 bigs so he shoved with A9 and the big blind checked down his 74 to take the pot and the scalp of our railtard1. Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 03, 2010, 04:53:31 PM DTD Qualifier Tony Millan is out
Frustrated he tells me he moved table, first hand sitting down he got dealt KK on a misdeal. Next hand he defends in the big blind with QJ. Q high flop two clubs, the raiser with AcKc turns a flush, money in on the flop That leaves Jonathn Butters with 50,000 and Jason Herbert with 40,000 flying the DTD flag Jeff Kimber is out. He tells me "The lunatic on the table manages to find Aces on my big blind. I defend with Q-10, 10 high flop sinks me" The lunatic is Dublin's Thomas "The Bomber" Nolan. I must stress that it is The Bomber with a capital "B". He's about ten pints into today and I wasn't going to argue with him Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 03, 2010, 04:54:11 PM Chip leader, I think, is Ciaran Taggart. 150,000 or so
"Who is he?" I enquire of my Irish blogger counterparts I am told "Young lad, was a dealer and got put into a few tournaments. Tore them up, gave up poker dealing and here he is" He finished 3rd in the Green Joker Shorthanded, which is his major result to date Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 03, 2010, 04:54:17 PM Players are now on a 20 min break. Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 03, 2010, 05:57:34 PM Stuart Rutter comes across a Nutter, sends his heart aflutter
Stuart Rutter raises to 3,000 utg, blinds 600-1200 Michael Mazilu next to act announces "All in" for 90,000. Michael is European, wearing a bright Ferrari F1 Jacket, sunglasses and has the sort of spray on orange tan that suggests that if in doubt, you should call him Stuart asks him "So you have Ace-King" Michael says "Yes" Stuart visibly flinches, laughs and I think he believes him, anything is possible Stuart's body language is saying Stuart eventually says "I have to call" which with Q-Q, 20,000 left and the blinds going through he probably does Mazilu the Ferrari man flips Ad10d, misses and Stuart doubles up to 50,000 Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 03, 2010, 06:21:20 PM Jen Mason adds another 35k to her stack. A chap made it 3,800 to play, Jen 3bets to 8,500, matey makes it 20k leaving only about 8k behind.
Jen does tank a little bit but eventually says CALL rather than all-in to put the guy all in. They agree to get it all in pre-though and matey is gutted to see Jen's JACKS seeing as he has TENS. No drama's as the board runs out Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 03, 2010, 06:28:57 PM Some local player news
Alan Trueick is the chip leader after taking A-Q versus Michael Murphy's J-J and seeing the sort of flop you quite like when racing overs v pair: A-A-5 The magnificently named Zsomber Gall was far from sombre, or galled, when he bust Peter Krikkay's K-K with 4-4 on a 10-4-2 board. Krikkay had raised in E-P and Zsomber called on the button Peter Murphy (Irish, who'd have thought?) cracked the Aces of Samuel Lehtonen (Finnish, finished) with K-10 that turned two pair on an innocuous looking board Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 03, 2010, 06:33:41 PM Chip leaders, assembled by various blogging teams comparing notes!

All in preflop with 77's but up against QQ. A queen on the flop sealed the deal and Toby busts in about 78th just 6 players shy of the money.
There are now 77 players left and the announcement just tells us that we will now play on until we reached 72 players. Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 03, 2010, 11:33:47 PM Obv with 8 tables playing hand for hand it is kinda sloooooow.
We have had our first all in and call. It was raised in early position to 5,200. Called by one of the chip leaders Janne Nevalainen. His neighbour Esref Govsa with 35k more went all in. The original raiser passes and Janne is left to dwell, not really wanting to call. I think his chip stack dictated his eventual call plus possibly the fact of 5 TV camera's shoved in his face. Anyway Janne had Kh 7h Esref had Qs Qh The board came 4d 4h 6d 5s with some ooooooo's from the crowd, then 2s Esref doubles and the bubble continues with 2 more still to bust. Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: TightEnd on April 03, 2010, 11:52:59 PM Anthony Reilly pushes with Aces
Jannie Neuvelainen makes another interesting call with Jh9h board comes 5-7-7h-Qh-5h and Reilly is out in 74th Now the real hand for hand can start! Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 04, 2010, 12:11:07 AM Cos seamed to be flowing and taking advantage of the bubble, with 10k here and there he bumped his stack up to 127k.
Then this happened: Ben Roberts raised to 6k in middle position, Anthony Kennedy calls in the hijack, COS bumps it up form the bb to 16,900. Ben passes and Kennedy insta calls Cos. Flop: Ks 2h 8d its check by Kennedy, Cos bets out 10k, Kennedy goes all in for another 16k more. Cos passed!! Kennedy showed pocket eights for the set! Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 04, 2010, 12:31:41 AM The bubble situation has been so bizarre and mental I'll try and explain it.
On Camel and Ste Kings table, Michael Odderskjer had passed for 2 hours and left himself with 1 BIG BLIND - 3K. He CALLED all in with Qh 4d even though he had another 5 hands until the blinds got to him. Obviously the hand went 5 way and they all checked it down to the river. Board was: 9d Kc Js 6s 6h Ste King flipped his cards over and already shown that he had Kd 5d for top pair. The shortie now knows he is OUT but the TV wont let him leave because they wanted to set up the live feed. It must have been 10 MINUTES they made that poor bloke wait at the table. He hadn't actually turned his hand over until he was told too after all that time. Upon showing his Q4 off, mouths dropped. Pah, oh well. Michael Odderskjer is the actual bubble boy. Title: Re: Irish Open Days One to Three: At a Glance Post by: Chili on April 04, 2010, 01:25:35 AM Lastly from me, on the very last hand of the night. Nik Persaud is involved in a mental triple up to now have cira 130,000.
I missed all the preflop action, I wish I had seen it: On a flop of 4d Td 8d 80 yr old Paddy Hicks bets 10k, Janne Neuvelainen went all in, Nik Persaud went all in too for about 40k & Paddy calls for about 70k. On their backs: Nik 8c 4s Paddy Ad Kc Janne Kd 3d So Janne second nuts and ahead, Paddy drawing to the nut flush and Persaud two pair. Turn ........ Th RIVER.......... Tc Paddy's side pot goes to Janne and Persaud a happpppy bunny!! I'm off and goodnight until tomorrow! Table 7 has seen a lot of 3/ 4/ 5 betting mainly coming from Peter Murphy and Tyler Bonkowski. The two clashed yet again. Alan Trueick raising the button to 16k, Murphy in his deliberate (slow, metronomic, ever so slightly dull to watch) style made it 38,000 in the small blind . This sent Bonkowski in the big blind into the tank. A few minutes passed before Bonkowski four-bet to 92,000. Trueick on the button grimaced and folded with Murphy following suit. Bonkowski broke his cool stare for just a moment to have a cheeky smile as he raked in a nicely sized pot.
