Just spoken to the legend that is Mr Kendall.  He's on about the starting stack of 10,000, but arrived there via a rather circuitous route.

He was down to 6,000 when his Aspades Qc saw a 6s 7s 8s flop, but came a distant third to Sean Byrne's flopped flush who also took chips off Rich Offless, whose flopped set of sixes wasn't quite good enough.

Since then Mr K has managed to win some sizeable pots hitting runner-runner ten ten to give him trips, and also managed to with with K2o on a showdown accompanied by looks of incredulity from the other players round the table.

Matt Russell arrived only recently after what appears to be a heavy night last night.  I'd imagine he's still around his starting stack.  Will find about Paul for you in a mo.

Pete Conduit just takes a chunk of Rupinder Bedi's stack

Not great news for Tom McCready fans.  Blonde's Red-Dog took a battering when he called a small raise with 5c 6c.

The flop was good news being a beautifully co-ordinated 8c Jc 4c

Michael "Chunky Mick" Jones raises Tom's 1500 bet to 2500. Called.

Turn = Aspades

Tom checks, and Mick's 2500 bet is re-raised all-in by Tom.  Called.

This isn't good news for Tom as Mick is holding 8s 8h and has filled-up on the river.

Umar checks, and Shola leads out for 2,000.  Umar quickly moves all-in for 12K, and he has enough to cripple Shola if not cover her.  After a very long dwell and serious consideration, Shola slides her cards over the line towards the muck.  The dealer slides the not unsubstantial pot over to Umar who flips over Aspades Qs for TPTK.

When you have 88 and your oppo has QQ and all the chips go in pre flop, i suppose the best you can ask for is a flop of 7 8 8 !!

Phil checks, button bets 800 and Phil calls with his up and down straight draw.

Phil checks again, button leads out for 1,500, and Phil calls again.

River is 9c

Phil checks again giving up on the hand.  The button checks behind.

Now it gets interesting.  Phil announces "You must win" - the other player says, "No, I can't win" and proceeds to muck his hand.  Phil asks the dealer if the button's hand is dead, and the dealer confirms.  So Phil reveals 53o and takes down the pot.  The other player said he'd mucked 83o and was just trying to steal the pot and thought he was dead on the river.

Nice to win a 6K pot with a showdown (of sorts) with 5-high.

I arrive to see Paul Hardy scooping in a pot full of chips of all denominations.  A good 10K haul it looks like.

A board of Th Kh 8c 7s 7c looks interesting, expecially as Paul was holding 7h 5h.

I asked how he got so much in with 75, and he said "I was flushing, sorry, fishing."

Whatever it was, he now has a respectable stack, but completely uncountable as there were chips everywhere.  I estimate around the 50K mark at least

Chris Bruce isn't having fun.  He has a stack of 12K but asked me to drag him across the room and "kick him in the nuts" as it would be less painful than what he's had to endure for the past 5 and half hours.  "Solid, slow pain" was how he described it.  I spared him the additional pain and let him go back to his grinding.

Paul Pitchford (The International Poker School) is on a averagingly comfortable 17K.

Ian Simpson wanted everyone to know he's on 10K, but seems to be having a good time and in less pain than Chris Bruce.

Colin Mctaggart has a very comfortable 50K

Martin Jarvis is back down to 9.5K after a run in with a short-stack didn't go according to plan with the short-stack rivering his flush against Martin's top pair.

34 runners now, but still value-town.  17 minutes until the start.

Red-Dog fans will be grim, as Tom McCready hits the felt.  Half an hour ago I asked him if he thought he'd make it back tomorrow.  He said definitely - but only for the £150.  Looks like he wasn't wrong.  I think the most painful part will be that he was outlasted by tikay...

From a stack of about 3K, Mr Tony 'Tikay' 'Face of UK Poker' 'Old man' 'The Rock' Kendall has managed to amass a less poultry 15K.

UTG he looks down at Ks Qs and decides to limp intending to call a shove or shove over a raise.  He gets neither and instead sees four callers to the flop.

The flop is 9h Ts Js - floptastic for the Old Man of Derbyshire.

Not sure how to extract the most value out of the hand, tikay checks, and one player puts in a small bet that he calls.

The turn is a blank and the action is the same as the flop.

The river is a Royal Aspades, giving tikay the absolute stonking, stone-cold, rock-tight nuts.  He leads out for a small amount, praying for a raise.  However, he gets the one caller who shows Ad 3d - so was there any way he could have extracted more value from the hand?

Then an orbit later he's UTG with Ac Kh and a stack of 7K.  He doesn't want lots of callers this time, so he leads out for about 5xBB.  He gets one caller and the flop is a pleasant Ad Tc 8h.  A bet gets the other player to re-raise putting tikay all-in.  He obliges with the call and is nicely ahead of Aspades Qh.  No queen on the turn or river and tikay now has about.  His largest stack since c1947.

Paul raised it pre-flop and got one caller.  The flop of 722 made him smile.  So he bet out, and was called.  The turn was an 8, so again he lead out, and was called.  The river, a 3 giving his executioner an unlikely full-house when all the chips went in the middle.  A 35K pot, going in the wrong direction as far as Paul was concerned, who was last seen heading in the direction of the bar.

Folded round to Raj Dhiri in the small blind.  The first time we haven't seen it raised up for a while.

Raj turns to Stephen Holden in the BB and says "I've told you, if I've got a hand, I'll be raising you - but if I haven't I'll be throwing it away as I know you're going to be coming over the top with a decent hand."

Raj then looks at his cards and throws them into the much.  Stephen, who hasn't yet looked at his cards turns them over to reveal Ahrt Ad.  I bet he wishes Raj (or anyone) had something they could have raised with.  Instead he takes the blinds and antes, and it's on to the next hand.

Only two players in the hand, Dean Pearson and Richard Berridge.

There's about 17K in the middle already, and Dean leads out for 10K.  Richard thinks for a while and then announces 'All-in'.  He's sitting with well over 100K which dwarves Dean's 25K or so.

After a dwell of a good few minutes, Dean decides to pass and Richard nods to show that it was a good pass.

Richard now has about 180K in front of him and a tower of chips.

Very next hand, and Dean is in the BB.

It's folded round to Alan Halcrow's small blind, and he announces all-in.  He has Dean covered and after only a small think, Dean decides to let his BB go undefended.
