Title: future bashes
Post by: Cf on June 04, 2010, 03:31:24 PM
Are all future bashes going to be DTD then due to the sponsorship stuff. Or is there any possibility they'll be elsewhere?

Evilpie just text me to say Stuart 'StuartHopkin' Hopkin has already had 4 bashes, today alone!

Way too early to say. The first question is any more bashes full stop? In part this is due to lack of support from some quarters, in part due to crowded poker schedules nowadays.

Is there another one in the pipeline at all???

Still never been to one  :(and only know the Blondes I do know from APAT  ;D

Nope, not at the moment

Incredibly crowded poker schedule, and I am not convinced we'd get the numbers of bbs 1-5 to justify the time spent organising it (bb9 only got under 100)

I've only been to 2 bashes but I wasn't a fan of the DTD one. The Leeds one was much better imo.

whats the hatred of dtd about. good poker venue well run and decent bar

Title: Re: future bashes
Post by: gatso on May 18, 2011, 02:37:54 PM
every other venue we've been to has given us free reign to act like drunken tits and run our own random made up rake free games

dtd is great for real poker, elsewhere for a bash imo

on the plus side for dtd,  if it ended up just being an invasion of an already running tournament then dtd's probs the only place that could cope with the extra runners. luton would go into meltdown if an extra 10 people showed up

Another one in Leeds would be incred. Pretty sure Alea could accommodate us again. Plus plenty of titty bar action.

DTD is obv all good for poker, but its where I normally play, there is no need for a hotel and its nice to have a night out away from Notts.

Selfish points yes.

But also as gatso said, dont think DTD will let us have a game of dealers choice that involves people making up games on the spot such as draw to 37 but you cant go over blackjacks count as 32.5

Title: Re: future bashes
Post by: Cf on May 18, 2011, 03:05:36 PM
I recall that last time we had a couple of SNGs and heads up tables but it was an absolute ball ache getting DTD to agree to let us run them.

The thing I liked about the Leeds bash and I imagine the others too is that it felt like blonde were invading and taking over a card room and plenty of drunk poker action going on. The DTD bash felt like just another tournament and was full of randoms playing the usual tournaments and cash games. Atmostphere was nowhere near the same imo.

The BB when I first met Celtic

Does anyone know if Jason Crawford still plays pokerz?

£2 showdown was absolutely immense!

For next BB bash

Monopoly Tournament
Shithead Tournament
£2 Showdown Cash Table

Not quite that simple  ;)
The dealer has a lot of influence and your hand may be dead if your on the wrong side of the table.

Also scooping may result in you having to buy a round...

not quite that simple is a bit of an understatement. at one point I had 16 cards I think

how many decks were in play?

and you certainly don't hope you scoop because that results in it being your round

I remember someone cheering a flop where they had something like top 2 sets, the nut flush and a wrap flush draw "How can I lose?" they asked, only to receive the response "The flop is red so you already have". I think something silly like 10 high ended up winning it.

Just to repeat, there are no current plans

why?

- Barely a weekend free of a DTD/GUKPT/UKIPT/APAT/Sky event for the remainder of 2012. Never seen it more crowded

- Leeds bb8 had 80 runners. DTD bb9 had 100 runners. I don't think we'd get significantly more than that at the current juncture, and therefore its a struggle to justify the cost and the organisational time

Personally, i didn't feel DTD suited a bash very much. Great club, but not that condusive to fun self dealt games etc etc

When we do bb10 then our contacts are such that all venue options are open. Would personally like to try somewhere new. I have Aspers Newcastle in mind, holds 200, great for a night out too. But not yet.

For reference so far

bb1 Broadway Birmingham
bb2 Cincins Glasgow
bb3 G Walsall
bb4 G Luton
bb5 Grosvenor Cardiff
bb6 G Luton
bb7 DTD
bb8 Alea Leeds
bb9 DTD

All venues are open but from the point of someone who works 9-5 Mon-Fri and doesn't drive...I'd never go to Newcastle as it's just too hard to get there unless you drive. Trains are hellish expensive unless going via London, buses all go via B'Ham/London and unless you live in the South (LDN, SOU, BRI) or Scotland, flights are a no-no. On top of that a lot of people go home Sunday night to work Monday...not possible unless you leave Sunday afternoon/lunch.

Someone suggested G Coventry earlier...I'd second that, albeit when/if we have another bash.

2 quid showdown was just the best fun ever.
+1  And the reason why not to have it at dtd just not enough freedom to play random games

Title: Re: future bashes
Post by: mondatoo on May 22, 2011, 03:01:14 PM

For reference so far

bb1 Broadway Birmingham
bb2 Cincins Glasgow
bb3 G Walsall
bb4 G Luton
bb5 Grosvenor Cardiff
bb6 G Luton
bb7 DTD
bb8 Alea Leeds
bb9 DTD

Would people be up for a foreign one?

behave. Lovely and all that but lets get 150+ for a UK one before we think about pies in the sky

haha I meant Dublin for obvious reasons ;-)

LOL at Dublin, we'd all be busto by the end of it.

It would NEVER be chosen. No suitable venue, the plance is horrifically expensive, and half the blondes would get alcohol poisoning

don't worry about the suitable venue bit, the chances of anyone actually turning up for the tournament would be pretty slim

Since it would seem like there isn't going to be an "official" blonde bash for quite awhile if at all, is there any reason why we don't just sort out an "unofficial" BB10 ? No need for any costs, just a ton of blondes meet at such and such a place at such and such a time, get smashed, infiltrate some local casinos/poker tournaments/strip joints/bars (in reverse order for me) etc etc, can still do the Sunday quiz so it has a little bit of a normal bash feel about it. The Luton bash was so so good, Nottingham was kinda meh as like Tighty said it didn't work at DTD for me. Plenty of boozers we can sit in and play Tighty SNG's or £2 showdown :)

Leeds could be a good shout since it's fairly central and nightlife is good.

Sounds good.......any decent tourneys it could be based around?

Poker is the least important part of the weekend, no point playing £100+ comps, £20 f/o's £10r ftw.

Possibly in if it's in Leeds. Almost definitely out if it's anywhere else.

Couldn't give a monkeys about poker.

Beer and strippers will make me happy.

These days, the chances of getting a date that won't get 30 people screaming no are pretty remote.

It has to suit DTD's schedule, and most players

Will finalises asap

and quizes and dirnking and stupid gambling games and curries....

Doesn't having the tourney on a Sunday limit the numbers of blondes who will be able to attend? Tikay said it would be 'Huge'!!

Don't get me wrong I'm a three night basher, and if I could attend I would do the lot...(I don't want to miss meeting Jason Herbert)

Kinda getting fed up of going DTD and sitting on a table saying 'any Blondes on here then??' Will be good to put a few names to faces :)

Yes, it was discussed last night, at a Meet @ DTD attended by Rob, Nick, Flushy, Tighty, & myself.

More details will be made available in due course.

I don't think it will be as early as 1 April

We talked about it at the weekend, Rob and DTD are planning it and it should be a lot of fun, plenty on the way..guaranteed prize pools, only for blonde members etc etc

As soon as I have a schedule I will be posting it up

Thanks sir, I'll keep a looking out for it. I'm hoping I might bump into a few decent players, it's tough to learn from the fishy drunks on the £10FO scene up this way...
