Good afternoon from DTD.

170 Rrunners so far with 20 minutes til play begins

I spent the afternoon in a pub beer garden, and very pleasant it was too

Vinny has spent the afternoon on a broken down train south of Market Harborough. Probably not too pleasant

He hasn't arrived yet

In good news for me I have a replacement until he arrives.

It could be a long night

Controversy on table RED-DOG

Board is showing  8c 3c Jh Ad 9c

Rana Gurnam bets 3,000 into a 4,500 pot.

James the nightclub owner from next door tank-calls, and is good with  Aspades Js

He then shouts at seat 4, who has mucked his hand out of turn during the streets

Seat 4 claims that Rana had his cards covered, therefore he thought it was his turn to act

James doesn't accept this is a valid reason, and asks for the floor

The floor warns seat 4 that if he folds out of turn again a penalty will apply

The floor leaves the scene, and seat 4 starts up. James replies. This continues for a couple of minutes

I think  might hang around the table a while

Action on table Greekstein.

Daniel Morgan makes it 300 in the cut off, Constantine re-rises to 925 which is called by Mark Elliott in the BB, Daniel calls.

The flop comes A-J-10.

Mark leads for 2000, Daniel quickly shoves his remainin stack in (6800) and Cos folds. Mark calls the 4800 extra.

Mark AK

Daniel Q9

A on the turn and J on the river see Daniel heading to the bar.

Julie "Joobie" Holness

Vinny and I are currently in conflab as to how to keep her off the laptops during the tourney breaks. Success will require animal cunning and much stubbornness on our part

Fiancee Adam Sharples is playing this event as one of the winners of the "blonde Champions STT". Prior evidence suggests this condemns him to an early night, and no cards, but we will see

I think  might hang around the table a while

any update on this one? lol  :)

Bluffed by the waitress, it wasn't mine. Sigh.

In the meantime, strange hand played out on table 12.

Pre flop raise to 375 by Stephen Hogg which is called by Dennise Frost.

On a flop of  6c Aspades 4c Stephen bets out 675 which is called by Dennise.

The turn brings the  4s and stephen bets 950 which is quickly raised to 2200 by Dennise. Stephen calls.

The river is the  7d Stephen checks and Dennise says Do you have Aces? She checks. Stehen shows an Ace, Dennise shows pocket 6's for the house!

The Red-Dog table has quietened down a touch but remains a fairly combustible set of personalities.

Old school poker rub-downs, with Red-Dog in the middle exhibiting the kindly air of a rector accidentally invited to a wife-swapping party. He looks slightly distastefully at proceedings, occasionally stopping to inject a note of civility into proceedings with a "nice hand" or a "well played"

His table line up is as follows

48 1 John Cann
48 2 Harprit Singh Gurnam
48 3 Liam Batey
48 4 Fraser Bellamy
48 5 Carl Thomas
48 6 Thomas Mccready
48 7 James Eflekhari
48 8 Anthony Nicholls
48 9 Andrew Mapp

Mr Nicholls is a local gentleman. He is the son of a friend of tikay's and tikay recounts the story of holding a baby Anthony in his arms. This was back in the day before tikay carried handbag's and represented the last time he tried to get in touch with his feminine side

Graham Pound 13,000

Peter Wrigglesworth 12,000

David Gallagher 8,000

Here is Graham Pound. Graham has been around for ages, part of the Reading scene with Simon Trumper and Keith Hawkins back in the day and a successful circuit player for ages. Furthermore currently on a hot run

Same coaching stable (he being the mentor I assume) as Wigglesworth now I believe.

Michael Bolton. Luton player. Improved his game no end this year

Look away now if you are squeamish

Michael is the Soul Provider to his family, with daughter Georgia on his mind. He Tries a Little Tenderness at the poker table, and When I am back on my feet again he will be a worthy opponent. If he asks me "Why can't we be lovers?" though there will be trouble.

Andrew fist pumped the  9h on the turn and the  Kd on the river meant Kev & Peter were on their way home.

Controversy at table Wernick. Simon Deadman raises to 525 which is called by Bingo Bill, Dan Schofield then goes all in for 950 which is re-raised to 2000 by Simon, and Bingo calls. On a flop of  Kd Qs 3h Simon bets 6000, whilst Bingo is thinking Dan gets up and walks away, a ruling is called for and his hand is deemed to be dead. Meanwhile Bill is still thinking, but eventually folds which means Simon claims both pots without having to show his hand. I don't think Mickey, and to be fair the rest of the table were too impressed.

In fact, as I type, Mickey is stood behind me asking Danny his opinion....

Alan "Unlucky" McBride walks past me with a huge smile on his face, but sadly it is to report tales of woes

He has 9,000 and flats a raise to 600 with 9-9

Two more callers, and Pete Singleton shoves for 4,000 total

Alan feels this is squeezy and looks him up, to find Pete with A-K, which wins the race

Down to 3,000 and with blinds now 150-300 there are three limpers, and Alan shoves 4-4.

One limper mega-tank-dwell-cogitate passes

Alan is looked up by Q-J

flop 3-4-9

turn K

Mega dwell man pipes up "I folded Pocket tens" (lol, of course you did)

river 10 to knock McBride out

Sunil Mistry is out to Adam Wilkinson. 33 v 99

Evil Pie is out too, a raise and a caller in front him he shoves for 5k, Pete Charalalalalalalalalalalalambous flat calls. The original raiser and caller fold. Pete has JJ Matt has 78. Pete makes a house and the Evil one is on his way.

This is the very aptly named "Bingo" Bill Davies

Bill is from Cambridge, likes big bikes and big bluffs

I first played him in a home game about five years ago. Fearless then, and fearless now

Had some good festival results along the way

I mean this in the kindest possible way, but he's very tricky to put on a hand because he'll play any two from anywhere. How are you meant to have a clue if he appears not to? However he clearly does

Think of him as Ali Mallu without the blackjack habit

He has a dangerous 35,000 stack

I felt under pressure on this one because I was preparing to snap she told me

"I work for Europe's largest photography company" and then afterwards insisted on seeing the photo. Then carried on for several more minutes.

Needless to say I am happy to have done her justice.  ::)

Red-Dog tucking into three scoops of ice cream with chocolate sauce, reports

"I think I just made a boo-boo. Early position raiser makes it 1100. I flat with J-J and Mr Loosey-Goosey in the blinds shoves for 12,000. Original raiser passes, and it's all in for me to call. I pass. The moment I do he looks mighty relieved"

Tom delays the second scoop long enough to tell me, but is soon polishing off the plate

Rakesh Gupta has just trebled up his short stack. Getting it all in pre flop with 98 and receiving two callers. He was quite happy to see a 992 flop, the 9 on the turn helped him even more and the 5 on the river means he know has approx 5k.

Interesting hand between Wayne Hopkin and Lewis Monaghan

Hopkin made it 1200 in 2nd position at 200-400

Monaghan 3000 on the button

Hopkin flats

flop  5d 5s 6s

Hopkin check calls 4,000

turn   Js

Hopkin check raises all in once Monaghan has bet 5,000

Monaghan instantly calls all in for what is now a 40,000 pot

Hopkin shows  Qs Ts

Monaghan  8c 5c

the river  2s to send Monaghan towards his next drink

Hopkin

At table Rookie, there are five limpers in to his BB. Obv Rookie being an internet aggro lagtard shoves his last 7.5k in with air, it's so obvious i dont understand why he would make such a move against live rocks. Gets snapped by the utg limper, everyone else folds.

UTG proudly flips AK and Rookie shows err A and another Ace. Good read me.  ;D

A harmless flop of J-J-8-3-6 means Rookie is now on about 17k. Guy to his right berates himself for folding KJ for 80% of stack preflop.  :dontask:

Pep Fontana is up to 35k after grinding a short stack all night.

Raised utg with AJ to 3500 and received two callers.

Flop was J-7-9.

Pep bets 5200 and the BB callls.

Turn is another 9. The BB then bets 6k and Pep shoves all in for 11k more. BB passes.

great work guys  - just caught up with the updates

keep up the good work

can I ask - the hand in which Simon deadman scooped a bg pot where his opponents hand was ruled dead for standing up- i assume it wasnt simon who asked for the ruling

cheers

Pretty sure it wasn't him that asked for the ruling Guy, prob Mickey Wernick or Bill Davies. Simon was happy to go with whatever the ruling was to be fair.

Good afternoon and welcome back to DTD. Play resumes at 2.45pm as 53 runners play down to a winner

Please join us then. In the meantime, having enjoyed a restful morning outside chewing the cud Vinny and I are off in search of a Sunday Roast. I hope someone warned the chef. Together, no roast within a 15 mile radius is safe.

Will Kassouf has just doubled up George Achilleas

He called Georges pre flop raise with  9h 2h check called Georges flop bet on a   Jc 7h 8c board.

On the  2c turn George bet 12k, after 5 mins or so Will annouced all in and was called by George who had pocket 2's and hit the case two. Will didn't hit his gutshot and is now done to around 40k. George has 120k approx.

Let's hope she has a Blockbuster of a day

She is being railed a few feet away by her fiancee Sharplea. Sharplea looks as relaxed as a rabbit caught on the middle lane of a Motorway about to get hit by a Oil tanker lorry which is overtaking an Eddie Stobart lorry whilst a joyrider ventures into the outside lane blocking his only escape route.

Will Kassouf is running into choppy seas on his table

He bets all three streets of a  9h Th Td 8c 2s board having raised pre-flop

Richard Young calls him all the way down with  5h 5d and is good against  Ahrt Qd, receiving an appreciative nod from his opponent on showdown

Young could well be chip leader now

How does a DTD breakfast compare to Luton?

They are doing a World Cup menu Jim, not that impressed to be honest. Did have a chilli burger (Team USA) was ok, filled a hole etc. Had to have a steak baguette before the end of the night though just to make sure i didn't go to bed hungry. Had the Roast dinner today which was OK. Will be having a look at the menu shortly though as i haven't ate for nearly two hours now. Will let you know my choice.

DTD are not doing breakfasts anymore. Hope thats just while the world cup is on.

On table Exley, John limps and so does Phillip McCall. Graham Pound makes it 12500 and Phillip Butt shoves for around 40k total.

John folds as does Phillip McCall. After a few minutes thought, Graham passes. Graham had Queens. Phillip Butt didn't show.

The last break has seen a colour up and the introduction of 5,000 chips

This caught our visitor from Norway, Oleg Thingstad, out

Daniel Stacey on the button raised but Oleg in the big blind does not realise this, thinks the button has limped and announces raise holding  Ac Aspades

Verbal announcement goes so he makes a small raise

Stacey thinks he's "at it" given a floor ruling has been asked for as to whether Oleg has to raise or not, and shoves with  Qd Jh

All Oleg's Xmas's have come at once.

He calls and we see the community cards

 6c Ts 9h

so the flop gives Daniel the up and down

Immediate service on the  Kd   turn

and the  Ad  on the river just to rub it in

Daniel and the dealer, who had a smile as wide as a very wide thing in the moments after the board was dealt post pot

Flop is  3s Td 3h

Alex leads for 3600 and Nadim quicly makes it 9600. Alex dwells for a while before making it 12000 more. Nadim moves all in and is quckly called.

Nadim has K 10, Alex Q3. Turn 10!! River 8 and Nadim is up to about 200k.

This could be a long night if the last hand is anything to go by

Stephen Lockett raises in early position

Mark Goodchild re-raises next to act

Folded back to Lockett who shoves

If Goodchild calls and loses he has 35,000 left (average 70,000, blinds 1200/2400).

Ten minute later Goodchild is still thinking. Bingo Bill calls the clock on him, and he is given one minute to act

After 43 seconds, Goodchild calls with the resigned look of Blatch's bank manager

Lockett flips  Aspades Ks

Goodchild  Qd Qs which elicted an audible "whatttttttttt?" from a few round the table

the board

 4d 9h 6h 8c............ Kh

Here they are pre the final call

Dennise Frost shoves with Aces, and Rickey Woolley finds a hand to call in the bb with AQ

The Q-J-10 flop gives Dennise a sweat to another Queen or a split, but the J-6 turn and river are innocuous enough and double her up

Simon Deadman raises in the cut off to 15500 and Bingo Bill call on the button. Blind run for cover.

Simon Bets 20k on the K-5-3 flop, which is quickly called by Bill. They both check the 10 on the turn. 5 on the river and Simon now bets 45k. Bingo eventually calls only to be shown Q5 by Simon. Bingo mucks.

Simon asked me to lie and not post that he had Q5 :D

Iveysda uses a few choice expletives. Wonder how bad they would be if he was in the hand?

Meanwhile, Daniel Stacey has just served a 1 round penalty for exposing his hand. He claims he ddn't though so don't know what went on there.

Simon Deadman raises to 22k from the button. Called by George Achilleas in the BB.

They see a flop of  2d 3d 5s

George checks and Simon bets 35k, George then moves all in for 200k which has simon covered. Simon makes the call with Q5, Georger has 45.

Turn 4!!!!!

River 10 and Simon is a goner.

Massive pot alert

There is a 5 way limped pot, the key combatants being Bill Davies and Jon Exley in the hijack and on the button

the flop comes 6-A-4

Checked to Bill who bets 25,000 into the 50,000 pot

Exley calls, others fold

turn 8

Bill bets 45,000, Exley all in, Bill immediately calls

On their backs Bill 6-6

Exley 4-4

Counting up Exley is still in but with a tiny chip stack, and Bingo Bill is catapulted into a chip lead with set over set.

Final table bubble then

Still the final table bubble

and still

blinds just going 6-12k average 230k, such a great structure of course

Bingo Bill has 500k of the 2.43m in play

So, he says in a triumph of optimism over current experience, and perserverance over desperation, we'll be at a final soon enough given the several players well below average

To be fair to the valet, she rolled up to the table with the salad, looked at me, looked across at Vinny, looked down at the salad, pondered for a moment whether the kitchen had cocked up the order and then asked the inevitable question

"Which one of you is this for?"

Vinny claimed the dubious honour.
