Obv thought it was  a City fan - .... to win nothing at all.

Those of us who remember 2 finals in the 70's wish you all the best. If life was fair you'd already have it won.

OHNO you didn't, Rich!

Sneijder top goal scorer and Holland to win 2-1 :)

Dead excited about this now, I really began to doubt I would ever see this. After watching us play soo well for years and then collapsing, I am delighted that we are not less flashy but in with a real shout.

All banter aside, I really hope England do well in the next WC for you guys...the feeling of being this close to winning the WC is something everyone should experience once in their lifetime. (OBv I would still want you to lose to us in the final then though :) )

I fear the worst for the final, both teams will be shitting bricks and it could just turn out to be the dullest final ever.

It's all gonna come down to who bottles it the least imo, I go for the Dutch in extra time.

Can't see it being dull but then again people said the first half of Spain Germany was dull. I don't think i could tire of watching the Spanish keep the ball so well.

Will be even better when we score first and they have to chase the game and we can hit them on the counter....woohooooo

Knock out stages would be a result for Scotland...and they should make it sooner or later, surely? As soon as they sort the youth academies out in this country.

There are a number of us on here who have seen England WIN a World Cup in our lifetime. Living in Spain for the last  seven years I may get to enjoy the feeling once more albeit surreptitiously. If your Madrid rejects can beat Barcelona's finest then you will deserve it. Good luck.

Vamos Espana!

I love the Dutch and am a big fan of their sides from the past including the 08' side but the Spanish are clearly the best side and would like Xaxi, Inesitia, Villa etc to be world cup winners as opposed to the Dutch side.

Oh yeah, I forgot old people also used this forum ;)

I always lol a bit at Madrid rejects...The same MAdrid rejects that made it to the CL final..Madrid isn't tthat clever a side, really. On paper obv Spain have the better players if you look at it man for man...but we're now 25 games on beaten, and have a 100% record in the WC...that makes me think we've got a decent shot at this.

Proper excited about this now..even fitted an extra gym session in to kill some time.

Holland have drifted out to 3-1...I can't resist that as I think it's a bit of value.
Sneijder to score anytime and holland to win 2-1 @ 25-1
Also took Holland + 0.5 @ 2.175

All for tiny sums, don't need the extra money to be happy if we win tonight :)

You guys can keep Ms Brazil...Korea pwns all IMO.

Holland were physical, yes, dirty no, spain looked for a foul everytime a dutch player came near them and card crazy webb didnt help.  Still robben should haveput his chance away and Sneider went missing.

BBC coverage was shite so biased towards spain.   Hansen and Shearer complaining about fouling,  Pot kettle black!!

Oh well roll on the euros.

We only sing when we are winning I know, but anyone who thinks that Holland deserved to win that is living in the land of cloud cuckoos. Probably one of the worst finals I have seen (I have only seen since 1966 so I cannot say definitively) but on any criteria Spain were the best side. If it was judged on points,Spain won hands-down, coincidentally if it was judged on goals Spain won that one too, Corners Spain, Cards Spain, Shots on Goal, Shots off target etc but still a big disappointment. Maybe if it was judged on avoiding defeat for 90 minutes and fouling at every opportunity Holland could have won, but I saw no other way,

Holland were physical, yes, dirty no,

I too didn't like Spain's whinging but this must be a level? Some of what went on was common assault!

LOL @ Holland not being dirty.

They were a disgrace to the memory of the great Dutch teams and players of yesteryear.

Gullit, Bergkamp, Cryuff, Van Basten, Kroll etc would never have played with thugs like this.

I agree, just plain dirty.  Looked from the start that all the Dutch wanted to do was kick the shit out of Spain.

In the first half we were piss poor and, indeed, seemed to be mainly concerned with kicking lumps out of the Spanish. De Jong obv should already have been sent off in the first half. Funnily enough, I think if Webb had sent De Jong off in the first half it would have been a much better game. Maybe not for the result as Spain could easily have put several past us then but at least the random kicking would have stopped.

Second half I thought we did OK, we just didn't take our chances. Mathysen missing his free header and Robben not doing better when through on goal cost us.
Puyol obv should have been sent off as well but Robben gave Webb an excuse not to send him off by staying on his feet..he goes down there and Spain are down to ten men.
V Persie hasn't done a decent thing this WC and V Marwijk should have taken a leaf out of the Spanish book and left him out for Huntelaar....or at least substituted him at some stage.

Webb made his customary 3 or 4 mistakes in the match and towards the end he definitely started to show he was tired as his decision making skills also went out the window.
But in the end Spain deserved to win as our defending (VD Vaart, WTF??? and Braafheid on the pitch???) wasn't good enough.

Thought both sides played way below their best in the final.  Football certainly wasn't the winner imo even though the best two sides of the competition reached the final.

Two years until the Euros and then another two and we're off to Brazil for the World Cup again.

One thing I'm with boldie on though.  That Korean girl ... ;kev;

Why did the Spanish change shirt colour after the final whistle?

Why did the Spanish change shirt colour after the final whistle?

Because they had pre made red shirts made with a gold star above the badge to symbolise 1 World Cup win.

because their shirts were almost soaked through with sweat.

It was in protest against Nigel De Jong who they thought should have received a red card so they all put red shirts on.

How presumptuous

Cheers for the sensible answer.

Because it was getting late and they wanted to be visible to one another from considerable distances.

you can be pretty sure that every team getting to the final would have done that.

the dutch version is being burned as we speak.

because red is the international colour for stop World Cup tradition sees the winners wear red shirts to signal the end of the tournament

Their tactics may not have been pretty but at least Holland were gracious in defeat.

Blah, blah Howard Webb is entirely at fault and "We cannot criticise ourselves. We have done everything we could."

Because it's national road safety week in spain and they wanted to highlight the fact that people should be cautious at traffic lights. the shirt represented a red light.

They all got suddenly really homesick and put on their home kit to convince themselves they were not in Africa, but instead back in Espana.

It was a tribute to Mick Hucknall and his band Simply Red as it was their music that was played in the Spanish dressing room before every world cup game.

Agree with all of this. I dont even think Webb is the best ref in this country.

I'm sorry but I had to chuckle at Braafheid playing in a world cup final; he couldnt even cope with players from Aberdeen and Falkirk on his short trip up here never mind inesta et al

Moving up to where they respect his raises.

Dons and Bairns kept calling with junk and hitting flops.

LOL at this post...I usually like your posts but this is totally nonsensical....if sub-par players can skin you as a defender then you shouldnt be anywhere near a world cup final./

Eh, I don't think he was being serious.

I didn't even realise Braafheid was in the squad, it would have been a travesty for this guy to have won a World Cup! The ball hitting him on the back of the head kinda sums him up, totally useless.

sarcasm obv. Teacake 4 Prez

The 'moving up where they respect your raises' being donk logic (most of the time) and oft used (at one point, I can't keep up) by the kidz on 2+2 as ironic in joke advice when someone compalins about being constantly outdrawn at low limits.

Wholeheatedly agree with your sentiment. Thought I was backing up your point with interwebz humour.
