Title: Whats in a name .... ?
Post by: Colchester Kev on June 08, 2005, 11:10:54 AM
During a moment of boredom, i decided to look through the members list to see what weird and wonderful "screen names" we have amongst us ...

I have seen an Action man, an axxe man, a goth man, a huse man,a kash man, a speed man, a dice man and a welsh man. I have also seen a del boy, a geordie boy, a lang boy, the boy,the kid, the milky bar kid, and the ugly kid.

But I have also seen a seedier side to the forum ;)
we have the King of filth, a hustlah, a freak, the poker whore,a tight end, Dirk diggler, a winkie, a wobble and a rear end rumper  :o

Oh and the forums newest member is called ...... DAVE   lol

There are still some of us who like to put our names to our opinions though aren't there. I never post, write or say anything I won't sign and take the consequences for.
It's a fairly friendly board as well though, which helps

I think it would be interesting if people told us why they chose their alias. Mine was born when no one played very much poker in this country, at least not that I knew of, It was all three card bragg, shoot, crib, pontoon, crash etc

we were playing these games in a dealers choice sort of fashion but people were coming up with werid and wonderfull games that no one, including themselves, knew the rules to

Not to be outdone when my turn came to choose I said, "Montana red dog" cos Id heard some cowboys in a film say it, of couse I didnt know how to play it, still dont, but, according to the rules I made up, my hand happend to be the best

I did have another alias, bestowed upon me by the regulars of Annabelles in coventry, T.A.P.S.
(thick as pig shit) but Im trying to live that one down

Tight End is nothing perverse, or originally nothing poker related, but is the position I played for a (loosely) semi-pro american football team in the British League about fifteen years ago.

By the time I started playing poker, with a tightish style to start out with, it became something that seemed appropriate

Still an NFL saddo, which puts me in a huge minority but offers fantastic opportunities for beating UK bookie supremacy spreads on games in a season that begins every September.

Post by: Karabiner on June 08, 2005, 04:29:34 PM
Karabiner was the name(amongst others) which a lot of the Greek players in Notts. used to refer to me as.

I believe it means "wild thing" or something similar.

 ;)

Id wondered about yours Karabina because it's a word called out most nights still in notts

MIne derives from on old nickname from my football playing days at Wolves (only youth level), I once wore one of the rockesque black tshirts with a print of a blue wolf's head on it  under my shirt and scored a hattrick hehehe the name has kinda stuck from there, I've also since found out its an ancient Mongolian Legend too. Sad really i'm know known more by this than my real name in work circles thanks to a certain Blondite and his TV show

Title: Re: Whats in a name .... ?
Post by: AlrightJack on June 08, 2005, 05:34:25 PM
AlrightJack is derived from a line in Pink Floyd's 'Money', which I thought was particularly appropriate as a poker screen name.

'Money, get back, I'm AlrightJack, keep your hands off my stack'

People don't seem to get the message though  :(

Post by: Bongo on June 08, 2005, 06:50:18 PM
I acquired at university, there were several people on my corridor callled Paul so it got confusing and everyone got nicknames. I listened to "Manu Chao" a bit in the first week and he has a catchy tune titled "bongo bong" (it's about a drum playing monkey ???). Anyway several of the lines in the Chorus are variations of "king of the bongos". So I got called "king of the bongos" or "bongo guy" etc, eventually shortened to bongo. It stuck and everyone calls me bongo, even my boss.

And no I can't play the bongos, closest I can do is playing Donkey Konga.

In the early 80's  I was a union rep in a small firm. It was the time of "red robbo" etc and one of my workmates tagged me redsimon as I was always on my soapbox ;D. It sort of stuck. Plus I follow the "reds" Nottingham Forest ::)

No originality in mine ... Police Dog Handler, hence K9, and sixtwo was my callsogn when internet first started now its changed but Ive stuck with sixtwo..... It is not a bizzare starting hand preference at Omaha
Many years ago I played Right Guard for the Newton GW's in Devon to continue the American Football note...Dont know if we played gwent ..but i recall being royally kicked around by Swansea...

Everyone have such amazing stories about their nicknames. So mine is:

S for Strong
I for Interesting
G for Genius
75 for the number of millions I have made on poker.

*sigh*, nope, my christian name is Sigbjorn, hence the shorter version 'Sig', and yep, I am born in 1975...

Many Ex-American Football players on here. Very strange. I used to play years and years ago in my youth. Played in every single position throughout the years except for Quarterback. That was too hard for me. As I got fatter I got into lazier positions. HEHEHEHEHE.

Played for Fylde Falcons, and Lancashire Wolverines and had a tryout for the England team, which due to my stupidity as a youth, I never went to.

Y Yogi Bear tho. I don't know???????? just thought it might start conversations.

It didn't.

I was given the name of The_Brief because of my job. I now spend time on the internet, and sometimes card rooms, giving back to the card playing community the Legal Aid money previously paid to me by the Government, God bless 'em. As you see I don't use it all of the time.

Tikay - a grandad? - I actually convinced our entire table in Jesolo that Tikay was my grandad - they all fell for it until i tried to call him it to his face. When he came to see how i was doing. - i said - "oh, there you are grandad", this was meant with a quick snigger and "f**k off" from Tikay and my bluff was exposed.

Post by: action man on June 09, 2005, 05:51:13 PM
the story behind action man, is that when i turned 18 i decided to work in a betting shop, an old man used to come in and have a lucky 31 every saturday. One day it came off ( all 5 Winners ) worth around 7,500.  He was a really lucky guy. Anyway one day he gave me a little actionman cap. sadly he died a week later, so i now use it as a luckycharm/ holecard protector.

It's a misconception that Tikay comes from Tony's initials TK. The TK that Tikay actually dirives from stands for Two Kings which is of course Tonys minimum starting hand.

As requested bt Tikay on another thread.

The village where I come from has a biscuit factory that makes the "world famous"Tunnocks Teacakes. In our home game After I had won one evening I proclaimed myself TPT Champ(TPT being the name of our home game), I was quickly brought back down to earth when it was commented on that I was more like the Tunnocks Teacake eating champ.  :D
I usually bring along a box of Teacakes now & use one as a card protector hence the name Teacake.
Incidentally I played online with a player named Doughnut in a Sit & Go much to the amusement of the other players with comments like "are you 2 related". I had the last laugh  tho as I won by beating Doughnut heads up  ;D

For the record I am also a natural blondie  8)

No, not the box Tikay, I use the biscuit.  :D

I know it sounds weird you really need to see a Tunnocks Teacake to see that it works.
It has a flat biscuit base with a mallow topping (round), covered in chocolate & wrapped in foil.

PMSL

I can't believe I'm on a Poker site describing biscuits  :D :D :D

Over to you lot....

This is all your fault Teacake, fancy bringing food up on a poker forum, (no pun intended) and Kev speculated about what I like to snack on whilst playing well...this is by no means complete list but it might give you some idea of my tastes

I like anything pastry based

Anything with meat in it

Things with chocolate on

Fried things

Dairy products

Anything sweet

All sandwiches

Icecream

Chips, (fish optional)

Pasta, all shapes/types

Toast, with little islands of unmelted butter

Bombay mix

Curry....

You know, this reminds me of a time, years ago, when my old mucker Jimmy Calladine and I were re sealing some corrugated chicken houses on a battery hen farm. Hundreds of them there were, and the stench was indescribable, everyone was sick on there first visit, but we didnt mind, we were earning a crust

Anyway, it was heavy, dirty work and too much for the two of us, so we employed about half a dozen lads on a day to day, cash in hand basis.

Now this chicken farm was out in the sticks, miles away from anywhere, which was just as well considering the smell, so we used to stop at a transport cafe on the way there and say to the lads, "eat whatever you want boys, there's nothing else untill we finish"

Well, this particular day we had a new guy, Trevor, stick thin he was, and about six foot seven tall. When he got into the cafe we couldnt believe it, he just ate everything in sight. Sausage egg and chips we had, he had a double portion with extra bread and butter, and after polishing it off in record time it was, "av yer finished  wiv them chips" or "don't you want that sausage"

When we arrived at the farm we all piled out of the van, Trevor got one whiff of the terrible smell and promptly threw his guts up.

After a few minutes he regained his composure, wiped his eyes and stood back to admire his handywork. There, resting amongst the remains if his jettisoned breakfast, was almost a whole sausage.

" I'm not wasting that bugger" he said, and he scooped it up and ate it!

By the way Teacake, welcome to the forum.

Welcome to Blonde, LadyRef, delighted you have joined us.

We usually ask newbies to go through a form of induction - behave boys - by asking them to explain their moniker, but even Colchester "How can AA lose to AA in Omaha" Kev would be able to work that one out.

Plenty of posts please, & remember, this Forum can accept full size pics as attachments, so if you wanna post a proper picture, be brave, go ahead!

Hi guys,

I have been pointed in this direction from another thread as a way of introducing my self. Been playing poker for a year so now. Quite a regular at the Gutshot actually as well as on Cryptologic.

My maths teacher used to call me Action (all go in those days) and Axe is a short form of my first name.

I have enjoyed reading your posts for a while now and I am sure I will contribute when (& even if I don't) have something interesting to say.

Tikay, a while back when i first joined you told me to describe the thesis behind my name

Most of the online alias's i have used in the past have all been music related, so for any of you that know, Sunday8pm is the name of an album by the music group faithless (the guys that did insomnia).

My previous alias was Fontaine, which was the surname of a Radio DJ/Artist.

I do this because i find it imposible to think of a decent name to use and tend to use the music i am listening to at that point!!

Well done in the Walsall freezeout Tikay now you can buy in to the WSOP

Sunday

Post by: byronkincaid on June 26, 2005, 11:26:29 PM
The book which inspired me to become an advantage gambler was Burning the Tables in Las Vegas by the legendary Ian Andersen. He also wrote a novel which I read sometime later about a group of people winning 1,000,000 from a casino in one night. The main character in the book was called Byron Kincaid. I had just read that book when an accountant called Chris Moneymaker won some big tournament in Vegas. I read that he won his seat on Stars so I decided to set up an account there and learn how to play poker. It seemed like a good idea to call myself after that character as a sort of homage to Andersen but it does cause a few problems with people thinking it's my real name. Still can't quite believe that in a week and a bit I'm off to play in that same big tournament.

Sorry it's taken so long to get on the thread - too busy working...

My whole alias (too long for this forum) is HasAnyoneGotThisOne... it came about when I was trying to set up my hotmail account.

Despite having an almost unique first name / last name combo (sure that one or two people may have twigged who I am already...), whenever I tried to use it as my hotmail account, bloody hotmail would tell me that someone had already got it (un-bleedin' likely, IMHO). After trying endless variations around the firstname/lastname/first initial/last initial thing, I became frustrated (okay heavily pee'd off) with the whole process and typed the sarcastic comment "hasanyonegotTHISone" as a name...

Lo and behold, no-one had. Now I have.

NAKOR . .

If this inspires one person pick up this book(series) my work here is done.

Nakor is a character penned by Raymond Feist in the series started with the book Magician.  In my opinion the best book ever written.  Story, character depth, orginality, the book (series) has it all.

Nakor behaves like a child, is quick on his feet, a born gambler who never loses, has a story for every occasion, always has his nose where it does not belong, and believes 'there is no magic, only tricks'.

Needless to say a friend of mine suggested I used the characters name - sadly it was due to his affection of alcohol and loose women rather then his impressive skill at cards.

i was looking for a cool name for another forum i go to, when i saw this. And no unlike the name i am not short i just liked it.

And my wh name Vasuki is A king of the Nagas in Hindu myth, a nagas is In Hindu myth, nagas are a primeval race of divine serpent-people that play an important part in religion. They are half human and half snake, and are still worshipped as the bringers of fertility, especially in southern India.

Contrary to beliefs my name is from a strange accident on Ultimate bet. I had been playing $2/$4 nl for about an hour and brought my stack up from $300 to roughly $1900. I picked up A 2 on the big blind no raise before flop. Flop came over 3 5 A i checked and the next guy raised $400 for some reason. I actually honestly accidentally called as i went to press fold i dropped my fag on my lap and must have moved the mouse. He asked me what my kicker was as the next card came over 4 (lol). I typed in deuce is kicker as he went all in (happy christmas) As he asked me what my kicker was i didn't take him for 6 7 so I called . Turned over A Q? river Q lol
I took $1090 off him all due to me dropping a ciggie on my di(c)k. And 9 is my lucky number!!

Unlike Dik9, I cannot report an inadvertant burining of the biscuit barrel as the inspiration for my handle. Alas, Exorcism is the name of a particularly loud **** Off Heavy Rock track by one of my fave bands, Killing Joke. I used it as I also like the word "exorcism", it fits a lot of sylllables and meaning into its tiny frame and it is only 9 letters long so it fits in the 9-character maximum of some on-line sites. And, no, I am not into devil worship ::). Mind you, when I hit a set of 6's, some odd things happen to people's chips......

Title: Re: Whats in a name .... ?
Post by: yt on August 09, 2005, 02:44:48 PM
Mine is boring compared to some of the stories on here - My name is Steve White and yt is only slightly better than whitey which is the name I was called while at school.... oh on stars I use yt_sbw because my middle initial is B (for Barry - Barry White the walrus of love! ahem, and also my Dads name so I proudly tell people who sing "can't get enough of your love baby" to me. Daddy dear is now dead -a dodgy Liver - too much booze. So take the piss with caution I also add to them!)
Incidentally the death certificate on a Liver failure victim doesn't really state the truth. The mode of death is actually dehydration as the poor Liver function causes the kidneys to fail and your body no longer processes the fuild you take in. You may as well be dying out in a desert. Ease off on that last pint people, it's not pleasant.

On a lighter note! -
BTW I thought Karabiner was this -
karabiner - an oblong metal ring with a spring clip; used in mountaineering to attach a rope to a piton or to connect two ropes

but did a search and its also a ton of other things! -

The Karabiner 98k was the standard weapon of the German infantery in the Second World War. The Karabiner 98k is a pepeating rifle. It means that after every shot it is necessary to load manual the next projectile from the magazine. The Karabiner 98k is a shortened version of the Mauser rifle 98. The Mauser rifle 98 was 1.25 m long and the Karabiner 98k is 1.11 m long. The letter k stands for the German word "kurz" (English: short). The repeating system Mauser is until today the best of the world. The Karabiner 98k could also be provided with a sight and then it could be used as a sniper rifle.

It's even on screwfix! -
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp;jsessionid=C0R5S4Q1WNKLNCJO2C4CIIQ?id=64670&ts=94427
Lightweight, extremely strong and hardwearing Aluminium Karabiner. Screw locking, it operates with two deliberate actions. - Would that be CHECK and RAISE?

One time, a couple of mates and myself were watching some poker on channel 5(?) when Phil Taylor was on. One of the guys jokingly asked me, "is phil 'the power' taylor your dad?" (My surname is Taylor btw). At which point, another mate interjected "yeah he is, didn't you know?". After much persuasion (and a few more cans), captain gullible actually believed it, so much so that he called me "the power" every time he saw me. I guess it kind of stuck. We did break the news gently to him in the end.

P.S. Just for the record, I am in no way related to the darts legend.

A very rich clever guy . And I bet the ladies are queing up to become Mrs Dikshit.

I've always been known as Fearn or Fearny as my surname is Fearn.  A few years back i was asked by an ex-teacher to help with her shool trips away camping for a week.  As I was in a formal position the kids had to call me Mr Fearn.  Weeks after the trip I was getting changed before playing football for the pub when one of the players called me Mr Hearn, I ignored it until he asked me to look after his keys on which he had a keyring with a photo of his kids, one of which had been on the trip.  SO I mentioned it to him and had to explain that my name was Mr Fearn not Mr Hearn.  Since then both football teams call me Mr Fearn or Mr F, this then spread through the pub into my table tennis team and out to my friends.  Only my mum calls me Ian now.

I have been Wardonkey for many years. The name was spawned when I was trying to find an email address that wasn't something boring such as name_name@hotmail. I had been called Warhorse by a few friends at school. This was due to my style on the sports pitch, which mostly involved great effort and little skill on my part. Anyway there were already loads of Warhorses and I didn't want to just add a number so my friend suggested Wardonkey and Wardonkey it has been since.

Mine isn't very interesting.

I used to play paintball, laser quest and the like as a youngster.  I got the name "If it moves" which evolved.  I didn't have the imagination to create something else when I started playing poker and have used it since day 1.

I'm tempted to change to Mr Fish, after Camel christened me a few weeks back.  ;D

Its about time I poked my ugly head into this thread.

My name is simple. Its my name!

Mike Thomas... mikkyT.

Back in 1998 when I was signing up to hotmail, I did not have an online psudonym, and I tried to sign up with variations on my name. I did not want to be mike175 or mikethomas86. Or mikey32467 etc.

All the trainees I worked with were calling me Tomo or "Micky T". I tried Mickyt and got the same response, mickyt21. So I changed the c to a k and the rest is history. Every google link for the name is mine, and nobody to my knowledge has ever used the name but me.

EXCEPT when I came to buy the registration M1 KKY - it was auctioned for £2500, but then, it didn't have the T in it to make it unique. M1 KYT was available, but it just wasn't the same!

Post by: thetank on November 05, 2005, 06:18:29 AM
In answer to the question "what's in a name", in the case of my online poker handle tigmong, the answer is, to put it mildly, a lot of nonsense. Be warned if you read on, 2 minutes of your life may be wasted and I cannot give them back.

When we were kids my brothers James, Edward and I gave each other rapper names. Edward became Puff Deady, James was Snoop Doggy Jog and I was the Notorious T.I.G. At this point I would like to re-itterate that we were at this time KIDS.

The rappy part was dropped over time, Puff Deady became Dead, My name became simply Tig. Jog was used for a time to refer to James but it eventually evolved to Jig.

Tig can be pronounced how it sounds, but occasionaly it is spoken as 'teague'.
The latter was sometimes substituted as a sylabble in various different words to describe my various personas.

eg., when playing sports I was competiteague

when consoling someone is was being sympatheteague

when courting ladies I was romanteague

and after lots of that I became fateagued etc etc.

When I worked in an Irish bar I became fond of many of the Emerald Isle's traditional songs.
Molly Malone was one of my favourites. Not quite sure why, perhaps Guinness was involved in quantity, but I became prone to paraphrasing it...

He was a tigmonger
And sure twas no wonder
As so were his father and mother before

This makes little sense, as both my parents insist that they are not, nor have they ever been tigmongers. Nevertheless I began the habit of entering tigmonger on computer games high score boards. One of them at some point limited me to using 7 letters so I just dropped the er and tigmong became the norm.

Used the tigmonger rather than the tigmong on msn as some mad buddhist fae Tibet already nicked tigmong. Something to do with his belief that his soul was forged by the coming together of a tiger and a monkey, or so a friend told me after they chatted to him for hours thinking it was me. I should have just said that my reason, much less long winded.

As for thetank's origins. My name is Thomas and you'll see from above my siblings also share names with characters from the childrens books 'Thomas the Tank Engine'. My mother insists this was accidental but I believe it was her way of extracting a little revenge for putting her through the rigours of childbirth. I've recently thought thetank would be a far cooler poker nickname than tigmong. That and I'll no longer have to flog cockles and mussels a-live-a-live-oh.

I thought it was because there were 7 of you.  :dontask:

Solver - becuase my name is Stuart Olver.

Not to clever really but a lot of people online seem to think I'm claiming to be some sort of problem solver and I can't count the amount of times somebody has typed "solve this" before moving all-in.  :D

I've posted this before but it deserves to be in this thread really!

The most interesting nickname I have come across was an American gent from Alabama named Randy Erdhart.
We were in the middle of a poker game whilst on an oil job in Africa and his friends repeatedly referred to him as D.F.  Knowing the Americans habit of calling guys by there initials and knowing that this guys initials were not D.F. I asked what it stood for. There was a bit of sniggering and then a quick change of subject and the matter was dropped.
A couple of weeks later in the bar, I got into conversation with Randy, who was well on. It turns out that Randy had graduated with top marks from Alabama State in civil engineering, his marks to this day having never been bettered.
He was also a collegiate middle distance champion winning the Gold and silver medals.
After leaving college he joined the U.S. army’s engineering corp. serving with great distinction and winning three awards for bravery, two of which were when under fire.
After listening and being greatly impressed I brought up the subject of D.F. again. His reply
“I’ve got one of the greatest minds in the Southern United States, no one ever mentions it!
I was such a good athlete that my coach believed if I hadn’t joined the forces I could have been an Olympic medal, no one ever mentions it!
Three goddamned medals for bravery I have, one of them a purple heart! Does anyone ever mention, Oh no!
Yet I ride one lousy little daschund when I’m 16 and I’m known as Dog F**ker for the rest of my life.”

My original online name was Silobass.  I played bass in a  band a few years ago and our first cd was called The Silo E.P.

Got shortened over time to Silo and I stuck Graham on the end recently because people calling you Silo in Real Life (TM) is very embarrasing.  Graham is (perhaps obviously) my Real Name.

Thats why when you choose your own poker nickname its advisable to choose one that wouldn't embarass you if it were shouted out loud from the other side of a busy department store!!  :D

And when your rich and famous try and imagine what it would be like to have your nickname shouted constantly by hourdes of screaming groupies - if it sounds silly it may be worth changing it ;)

Title: Re: Whats in a name .... ?
Post by: Graham C on January 17, 2006, 10:01:51 AM
Trouble is I don't know what to change it to - I need a good poker name.  I'll get one eventually.

I have been in a crowded Pizza Hut with someone shouting across a family of about 30 kids "Silo - what are you having?"

Very embarrasing.  I'm hoping in time people will drop the Silo and just call me Graham, then I'll remove the Silo and introduce a poker name :D

Long process but I'll get there.

Title: Re: Whats in a name .... ?

its not even something that could be a realistic nickname, its a proper word not associated with people but more of an online type thing (or storage) its just a crappy name if you are ever likely to meet the people you use the name with :)

IMHO of course!

Last year I went back to Bermuda & met up with my 'twin' Dimitri Bradley (we were born the same day & our mums were in beds next to each other in hospital.

Dimitri's Mum & Dad were very much into Black Power & quite radical, so they named him after the famous Black Russian leader... my Dad nearly died laughing when they told him & they wouldn't believe him that the Black Russians were a political party, not coloured. I think my Dad was the only white guy who could have got away with telling them that.

Snoops suggested to me on another thread that I should come over and explain the origin of my username - Zen Taff, so here goes:

It's basically pretty self-explanatory really.

The 'Zen' bit comes from my interest in zen philosophy. The 'Taff' bit is because I'm Welsh.

I kind of got it from another British online player one rainy Sunday afternoon while playing at Paradise Poker. We found ourselves at a table full of north americans, so we chatted a bit. Then he put a bit of a bad beat on me and apologised. I said something like, "well, that's poker" and he replied "Hmm, a zen taff". I thought - "I'm having that." Perhaps in some small way I can help to reclaim the word "taff" and make it sound less derogatory for us taffs.

Actually, the more I think about it, the crapper that story gets and the more I'm going off the name. It's a good job I use a few different names at other sites.

LOL. Are you beginning to regret suggesting that I explain my username yet Snoopy? ;D

My blonde username "Zen Taff" is fine (although my name is also Dave, so I could change it to "Welsh Dave" if it makes things easier).

I meant that I wish you could go back and change certain names you've used at poker rooms, because at some places I'm stuck with crap stuff like "dave5472". In comparison, I think I can happily live with "Zen Taff".

Yeah, that's cool. Thanks for the suggestion Snoopy.  :)up

And you're quite right, everyone calls me "Zen" at Poker Stars anyway.

I'll stick with Zen Taff then - no more complaining from me.

I think shortstack explains itself  8)

When I play tourneys esp rebuys i dont want to rebuy....I know all the chips are heading my way eventually anyway! So I just wait till rebuy's over and then start my comeback normally with 1 rebuy + add on.

Names on websites normally Billz_72 real life nickname is billy....the 72 is to act as my birth year to get a little more respect as im only 19

However my alias on sites I play on often change's, I link it to bad luck ;)

I got a new pair of trainers when I was about 13, they were comfortable and were called Decider ( I think they were either Puma or Adidas), I thought it would be a cool nickname, but no-one else did, so it was put on the back burner until I started playing poker.

I had to choose a username/handle for pokerstars and didn't want to use the old poker names, so many of them flying about, then I remembered my trainers. Simple really.

barhell came from an amalgamation of my nickname Barney and my wife Hell.
There is also brahell which came about from a typo.

"Smart Money" was the name of a magazine I had on my desk when I needed to come up with a forum name. It was either that or "Razzle."

Quite apt that this is my first post on this site and it is one in which i reveal my pseudonym!

"Padrino" as i'm sure you will all be aware is the Italian for 'Godfather'. During my university days many years ago i had posters of scenes from Il Padrino on my wall and was a big fan of the films of the same name. Godfather sounded a little arrogant as a nick name, but Padrino seemed to stick.

It is an even more relevant name as i am the 'Padrino' to my Nephew!

az u can tel frm my pst cnt I nt bin 2 active bt been browsin a bit mor l8ly n der r sum kewl thrds on er

my nic came from me trying 2 mak a new poker start online. my previous alias was nanimal
I was called animal because of my weekend antics as a young person. I thought I didn't make too good a first impression meeting new ppl and being introduced by animal so I got all my m8s calling me nanimal and that worked much better. I was still wild n crazy but now I was cool too :-)

I think I decided to restart my online poker game with the nic shmeigle as I was into lotr and it seemed cool at the time. it is also my forum alias on er n gnf

in fact I started playing at broadway cardroom whilst still nanimal and when having live poker nics was the in thing and the old school staff at broadway still call me nanimal. though some also call me shmeigle and others 4kingfish which is my most recent addition and only live on stars.fr

real name is jon with a h (missing letter fits between the O n N)

my name here is KD, shortened form of KerouacsDog, a name I made up. It comes from my favourite author, Jack Kerouac, a 50's backpacker/poet/author in America. He had a drink problem, and died young, in his 40's. I think if he had had a dog, he would have looked after himself better. There is a magazine called KerouacsDog dedicated to Jack Kerouac, they nicked the name from me.
Every poker site I have accounts at(37 and counting) my alias is Kerouacsdog, or slimiliar to that, ie kaydawg, K-Dog etc.
