He is surely my guess in this pack of wolves.
Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: BigDragon on June 08, 2005, 09:26:10 PM Do not underestimate Andy Black. He's in his element with all those big names quietly taking the lead. Not one mention of him in any of the so-called in-depth reports from the Rio.
Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: tikay on June 08, 2005, 10:53:43 PM Spot on BigDragon. I watched Andy Black destroy a table at the CityWest in one of the Irish Open support comps ealier this year, he has some game on him when he has chips. And Harry D in good shape too. Come on lads, bring that money home! Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: Bongo on June 08, 2005, 10:55:56 PM Is he the guy who was filmed for that WSOP documentary (1997?) and then became a monk for several years?
Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: tikay on June 08, 2005, 11:34:50 PM That's him. I find the contrast betwen the presumably selfless thinking of a Monk & the me me me thinking of poker an oddity, but he seems to have got his head round it. Got an excellent voice too, lovely to listen to & quite unforgettable.
Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: tikay on June 09, 2005, 12:57:14 AM Text just in from El Blondie.
"4 left in short-handed Final, Harry Demetriou is clear chip leader". Can we smell our first bracelet? Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: sig75 on June 09, 2005, 01:19:21 AM What about Esfandiari?
Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: tikay on June 09, 2005, 01:24:01 AM Esfandiari? He's OUT. And if that's the guy that does the moronic, childish & just plain dumb "wave", good riddance. Come the revolution, everyone will do it to him when he gets busted.
Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: sig75 on June 09, 2005, 01:44:24 AM Easy, Tikay ;D
It's just that I had some money on him taking this down to a nice odds. But his 5th place and $63000 didn't give me any >:( Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: tikay on June 09, 2005, 01:48:03 AM Sorry Sig. I just have contempt for folks who think it's clever to ridicule others in public for their own gratification.
I'll revert to "he's a terrific guy" mode now. Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: tikay on June 09, 2005, 02:00:34 AM Back to the business in hand. Harry D has twice as many chips as the guy in second, 2nd 3rd & 4th are all much of a muchness. Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: tikay on June 09, 2005, 02:23:22 AM Another DC text just in... "Harry D 600,000. Issac G 240,000 Tonny Grimes 240,000 David Singer 220,000. Harry is bullying for England. Literally" Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: tikay on June 09, 2005, 03:59:54 AM Harry D is strangling them now, & they are down to three.
Harry D 740,000. Issac G 420,000 David Singer 170,000. These are Dave's approximate counts. Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: sig75 on June 09, 2005, 07:58:03 AM Final results:
1st: Isaac Galazan, $315k 2nd: Harry Demetriou, $164k 3rd: Tommy Grimes, $86k 4th: David Singer, $75k Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: tikay on June 09, 2005, 11:28:58 AM Wow, thanks Sig.
A great result for Harry, but it would have been real nice if he had won the thing. But I had a hunch when he was huge chip leader with 3 left that it was all going too well. Momentum, in life as in poker, has a way of swinging to & fro, & he had been playing very aggressively. Thanks for the update. I had to get to bed, I was so tired. I am old you know. Title: Re: WSOP Event # 6, $2500 Short Handed NL Hold Em Post by: Robert HM on June 09, 2005, 12:06:29 PM This is a step up for me tonight, I am treating it as an education, I am sure someone will be out to "teach me a lesson". Errr just realised I'm diverting this thread.
