Sorry to say the big fella's in hospital having been diagnosed with cancer, I'm afraid the prognosis isn't great.

Typed a few things and deleted them, don't really know what to say except fight it Big Yin!! You've still lots more for me to win off you ;)

Just had an update from Laz's brother, he's in ward B4 of the Beatson Hospital in Glasgow, but he's not currently up to having visitors, when he is they'll let us know.

He's also asked me to to thank everyone very much for their kind thoughts and wishes at this particular time.

Thanks Rod, please keep us informed.  He's got a lot of friends on here thinking of him and his family.

This sums up how i feel. Everyone who shared that night with Laz and Ian going toe to toe with the banter in that caravan in Scarbrough in mid November will almost certainly say it was the funniest night they can remember. I didn't know Laz very well but he made a big impression on me.

I'd like to echo these sentiments.  Wasn't on blonde this weekend, and only just seen that Laz is no longer with us.

Didn't know him personally but came across nicely on the forum and people speak very well of him.

All seemed very sudden and very very sad, very young to reach the end too.

Hearing too many stories about people dying way too young recently. A semi-mate of mine was killed a couple of days ago in a motorbike accident in Thailand aged 43.   :(

Big Laz's family had a fundraiser for the Beatson Cancer Unit last Friday night - in tribute to Laz it was a Casino Night in the church hall of the church where they held his funeral.

The place was packed - standing room only, a couple of bands that school friends of his were in played, and over £3K was raised.

His Mum told me that she only recently could face reading the posts on blonde & how much she appreciated them.

Oh, and his gambling mates (Div, Teacake & I) won absolutely nothing, not even one red/black bet on the roulette or a raffle prize (there were more prizes than people) - I'll bet he was pissing himself at us.

Your boys did you proud Patrick.
 I can picture you cheering them on whilst puffing away on one of those big cigars.
