Title: McNitus Diaries: The Part Time Grinder
Post by: JK on January 06, 2011, 06:41:18 PM
I hate feeling like a bandwagon jumper. Iv always tried to be a lone wolf my whole life (as youll see Iv failed many a time), but reading some of the blogs that have been posted, I feel compelled to write my own. I feel like this would be beneficial to me, as Im gonna try and start grinding online soon. As Ill mention later on, I have awful bankroll management, along with poor life savings and a general striving to spend my money as fast as possible.

Ill start with a short background introduction, as I know to alot of people Im completely unknown. My name is Jamie Kay, Im 20, I live in Mansfield (near Nottingham), as I have done all my life. I grew up as an only child, with parents who I now see spoilt me rotten (which I now hate the thought of). At school, I was one of the most promising lights in a pretty dull sky. I had ability, I was smart, but I craved attention. I found that misbehaving and general joke making made my peers laugh, gained me popularity and elevated my status. I fell into the trap that many before me had fallen into.

My grades slipped, I was put on reports and my parents were involved. Luckily for me, I got involved with a girl whom was very intelligent, and she helped me get on the right track. I didnt get the grades I was predicted, (I was predicted straight A*s, I got a single A), but I managed to salvage something.

College was much the same, except without the salvation. I found poker in my first year. Oh how that changed the direction of my life. I was introduced to poker by a few friends. I was godawful, but I picked it up very quickly. Within a month or 2, I was crushing my friends. Within 4, I had found my way to a local pub game, where I found a different world. I was back at the bottom of the pile, and desperate to start crushing again. I worked hard at my game, I watched alot of poker and studied the game alot. Soon enough, I found myself back on top of the pile.

I have gone through, what I feel, is a very quick introduction to the level of poker I profess to play. I know Im not the best player of my age, but I feel like Im ahead of the general average of players with my time around the game (Im not a monster, Im just ahead of the curve).
From here, I left college with no grades, and started as a Lifeguard. This wasnt to last. I did this for a year, and just hated it. There was no room for intellect (although saving peoples lives is pretty damn rewarding morally, it is pretty basic stuff when you know it). I had to get out. I had been playing poker every month, normally blowing as much of my wages as I could afford, trying to learn the game. I managed to box my way through a satellite to the £300 deepstack at DTD, and again was immersed in a whole new world. I was completely outplayed and outclassed by, who I now know to be, Simon Nowab.

As I walked away from my seat having exited the comp, I walked past Mathilde. For those who dont know of Mathilde, she was a French ex-employee of Dusk Till Dawn. She was in charge of training dealers, as well as having an absolutely shining personality. Probably seeing my dejected demeanor, she commented to me as I walked past, something along the lines of "better luck next time!". I got into conversation with Mathilde, and was asked to attend an interview a week later for a dealer position at Dusk Till Dawn. This is the point where my life changed, and to me, got a whole lot more interesting.

Please ask question. I dont care how intrusive they are, Ill do my best to answer them. Ill be making more posts going into more detail about parts of my life, and hopefully a bit more into my poker experiences and goals (thats what this is supposed to be about, right?). All feedback will be incredibly appreciated.

Who is your best friend of all time?

Thanks for your input mate XD. Ill try to answer this properly lol.

Iv had alot of friends in my time. As I said in my opening post, Iv always tried to be friends with everyone, and as such, you get to know alot of people. There are very few people I have known my whole life, even fewer I keep in touch with now. Alongside these childhood friends, I have a few friends whom have I havent known all that long (a year isnt that long after all), but I consider to be friends for life.

I dont consider myself lucky in all aspects of life. Poker, definaltey not. However, friendship is a part where I definately do "run good". Im thankful for that.

Hey Tom! Thanks for stopping in :D.

Unfortunately not. Im currently working at Gala Nottingham (Ill explain my travellings through the world of poker in Nottingham later on Im sure). I loved my time at DTD, but sometimes things just change

If Im looking into my past, theres one thing I cant pass by. The biggest part of my childhood was swimming. Sport was another chapter of my life where I was gifted, but wasted it. Everything was "Could do better". Story of my life so far really.

I was a top 5 national level swimmer. Long story short, I was good. The one thing that I regret, is the fact I NEVER tried in training. People were amazed at how I could go and smash out good results at Galas and meets, and never put in an ounce of effort in training. I didnt see the "but you could be so much better" side, only the "look at how much your winning by now". I trained with Rebecca Adlington, I had training days with Mark Foster, I swum up and down the country day in day out. How I didnt take notice of what I had, I dont know...

Im proud of what I achieved, dont get me wrong. I look back and wish that I could be back there, with the praise I had. However, along with looking back, I wish I could change what happened. The lessons you learn as you get older huh?

I feel that Im coming across as quite bigheaded atm. FWIW, I dont mean to be. Im actually really negative about myself, and would change alot of the things Iv done. I just want to get across my life as it was

I swum up and down the country day in day out.

I don't know where to start with this. It's "swam", not "swum" in this spot. And you swam up AND DOWN the country? Day in day out? Wp mate.

Sorry bud, had to rinse that, if only to reassure ppl that I'm a posh prick, if there was any doubt :)

I don't know where to start with this. Swum is not the past participle of to swim.

pretty sure swum is the past participle of swim. it's not the right word in that particular sentence though as there's no auxilary verb

Biggest upswing is probably $4.5k in a week online not really playing much volume. I was on a sick deposit bonus heater/spin up. Played Rush, started at .5/1 with $100 (I said my BR management was poor), won a few BIs, moved up to 1/2, won alot of buyins, cashed out $4.5k a few days later. It took about a week, playing probably 2 hours a day. Sick life imo.

This was followed immediately by my downswing. Id cashed out this money primarily to play live. The $4.5k along with the £1k or so I had as a roll anyway was done in in the space of a month. I ran like dirt, I bubbled EVERYTHING. Couldnt find a winning session if it hit me in the face with a cricket bat, and it really hurt. Not much has changed. I did my roll in that month (leaving about £500 to live on).
Standard Subway has to be footlong Chicken + Bacon rancher with barbeque sauce. Salad can GTFO. To be honest though, I havent been to Subway for an age.

Id probably keep my feet on the ground tbh. 10k isnt enough to make me quit my job. As I think Iv mentioned before, I absolutely love my job. I definately would be playing ALOT more though. In terms of distribution, Id probably lump like £2k online, put £3k away and use £5k as a live roll.

Working the grindstone. Its something that, apart from a lucky few, we all have to do. Now I know Poker is a way out of the daily grind, but unfortunately for me, it is my daily grind (or not so much). For those who dont know, Im a poker dealer full time. I work 48 hours a week and love almost every minuite of it.

Again, this is a part of my life where I definately do "run good".

I started off my adventure at Dusk Till Dawn (as I pointed out in my opening post). I was trained by the best, Mathilde, along with Darren Donnelly, who is another great dealer trainer. I spent around 4-6 months at Dusk Till Dawn (I cant really remember), dealing the Monte Carlo, Deepstacks and all the weekly stuff. I definately progressed as a player during my time dealing at DTD. Im not one of those dealers who sit there monging out, Im always paying attention, because I always try to take something home with me every day. DTD was definately the best place for me to do this, but times change and sometimes you just have to move on.

This took me to Alea Nottingham. I had been playing there almost every day while at Dusk Till Dawn. Id been doing 7 hours a week just to go down and play. Ill be honest, I didnt need to work. I was crushing the .50/1 games in Alea (and running like a sicko to boot). However, to me, winning 2 BIs a night was an average night, I didnt realise this wasnt normal and I was on the biggest heater ever. When I hit my downswing, I decided I needed to work more hours. I chose to move to Alea, where I knew all the staff and the managing supervisor really well. I had a fantastic 8 months at Alea. I worked hard from start to finish every day. As some people who know me know, I worked my ass off, along with my peers, to get Alea to a cardroom to challenge DTD. In some respects, we Succeeded.

Alea went from being a cardroom with the occasional big comp to getting 100+ runners every Friday, 50+ runners every Wednesday, along with the other comps doing well. For a casino, these numbers are pretty huge on a weekly basis. It felt like we were reaping the rewards of our hard work. I had met alot of people in Nottingham poker, alot of the "circuit regs", whom I now considered friends (and Id like to think they feel likewise). I was pretty happy.

Now anybody that has played poker regularly in casinos will know that they ALWAYS run into problems. Ours was from above. We had been trying for quite a while to give away money in comps (a basic thing done by most casinos to attract players), but we werent being allowed to from those upstairs. I honestly do believe that if we did manage to add money, we would have been challenging Dusk for alot of players. What could have been.

December came and we got news that the cardroom was being shut down for the month, due to Christmas parties. We were devastated. All our hardwork was just being washed down the toilet. From this moment in, I just didnt want to be there anymore. Id been betrayed by the company who Id busted my ass for and just didnt want to be there. Not only that, there was no poker anymore, so I just couldnt do the job I loved so much.

I have since moved to Gala Nottingham. We'll see where that takes me, its early days now but I am enjoying it alot. We'll see what happens!

Its been a while since I posted on here, pretty much because Iv had nothing interesting to talk about (tiny violins). As some of you may have read on Alex's blog, we went to Sheffield yesterday and played there. Thought Id do a little trip report and a bit about shot taking.

Went down to Sheffield at around 12-1am. Unfortunately, due to the casino not wanting to open another game for love nor money, didnt get sat down till around 3am. Alex actually gave up his seat at £1/£1 but I had my head set at playing £1/£2, so I swapped instantly when a seat came up on that game. Played for around 3 hours, ended up winning £120 in the game thanks mainly to a hand where I turned quads vs Alexs turned flush. MBN to find those spots.

As kindly pointed out by Alex, This game was pretty much my networth. Im not the most BR orientated person. Iv played the deepstack quite a few times and Id like to think myself a reg in the local 50p/£1 games. As far as a roll goes, I have whatever I get paid that month (probably not the best life choice, but ho hum :D). Iv had a roll once in my life, where I went on a pretty sick downswing, did half of it and decided to spend the rest on myself and others. I think actually having had a roll at some point in my life helps me play without one (as stupid as that sounds). The money doesnt scare me, Im playing with money I can afford to lose and still be able to go about my day to day buisness. Because of this, I can make what I believe to be +EV choices, even if it means Im taking a flip for my 1 bullet. If I lose, I lose, if I win, I can buy myself nice things :D. Poker is just fun to me atm. Hopefully one day Ill be able to take it more seriously, but for now, I make a living because of poker, not from it.

Happy to answer any questions, so please troll away :)

No, they all start at a theoretical 9:10. So about 9:30 in reality. Tonight's comp only thinks it's a deepstack, it's badly deluded.

Decided to deposit a little bit online to test out the waters on PartyPoker. Never really played their software, but found a 40% rakeback deal with RakeTheRake, so put on a bit to try it out.

Found a fish on a .25c/.50c HU NLH table and won 2 buyins off him. He was terribad and kept autotopping. I would have won alot more but he rivered me a few times for pretty big pots. Sigh.

If the softwares good and the games are active, then Ill probably stick a bit of a roll on there and grind it out. With 40% RB I have to play horrendously bad to lose, so heres to hoping I dont spew :). Feeling really happy with my game atm, definately learning alot from some V good players.

If I do actually start a roll and stuff online, Ill update this thread regularly with progress etc (thats what this was meant to be after all).

Feels good to be playing again :)

Started a little project online.

Playing solely Rush Turbo on demands, im gonna try and run up $50 into a decent roll. Will try and use bankroll management effectively where possible, moving up when I have 100 BIs for the next level. I dont think these run much higher than $11, so when I get to that point Ill have a look at where to go from there.

I feel so comfortable in these and theyre uber soft (at all levels). So many people willing to put their chips in dead and so many stations.

Hopefully this wont turn into my usual "spin up a bit and go play the highest stake cash i can to try and win the lot". Done this quite a few times now, getting bored of being broke lol.

Will post my daily sessions and results, how I feel Iv played etc, and maybe a few funny/interesting HHs. Been trying to get something interesting going to write about, hopefully my new grind project will be it!

Starting off at rock bottom. The entry level for these tournaments is $1. However, what differs with these to the ones above are these are Multi Entry. This is pretty awesome for me tbh, as I like to buy in late when the stacks are 25BBs. All the players are terrible at shortstacking, so its only up from there.

Entering 4 reduces variance alot as you obviously have to run good at the start. Pretty nice to have that ability at hand. I dont really struggle too much with 4 tables of rush, so its pretty much perfect.

Just ran 2 stacks to 21st, hitting the :55 break as 3rd and 7th. Break ends and I get AA in the 3rd place and KK in the 7th. Boomtime. 2 Chip leader stacks? I manage to get KK in vs 99 and AA vs KQ. Somehow I lose both to bust one and cripple the other. Fun times this poker lark. As Alex said, its such a Jekyll and Hyde type beast. Its so much fun, but can hurt so much. I guess thats why we love it!

Played $13.20's worth of tournaments (3x4). Did a few binks which was nice.

Tournaments played: 12
Amount won this session: $114.51
Overall number played: 12
Current Bankroll: $174.24

Pretty good session. Had 2 final tables, a 5th and a 2nd. Absolutely card dead in the first one. Crushed the FT of the second one so hard it was untrue, but ran like shit HU when I had like a 5:1 Chip Lead. Sigh. Good start though!

I'm getting bored of you being broke! When even the nittiest of McNitti becomes a Creasey-esque LAGtard. Don't do it, else I'll get some posh kid to boot you in the nose again.

Really looking forward to the progress of this. Obviously find me on Facebook if you need railing by a magician. Good luck, and get there a bunch.

As is probably everyones goal, my main goal at the moment is to take 2 stacks to the FT. Even in a bowl comp, thats not really that easy, because the comps Im playing are turbo, so theres alot of variance involved.

Almost did that today, had 2 stacks 14 out, but lost a 60/40 on the shortie where I had like 6 bigs. Sigh. Will definately manage this, just a matter of time. To be honest, I wont achieve much by doing it, apart from reaching a personal goal, as 9th in these is only around ~11BIs, but still ^.^.

Didnt grind much this weekend as girlfriend was over and spending time with her. Just played one quick session but I need sleep before work. Every little counts :).

Tournaments played: 4
Amount won this session: $19.43
Overall number played: 16
Current Bankroll: $191.74

Pretty sigh 2 days. Havent put much volume as of late, really slacking, but meh. Had a short but interesting conversation with Ged (TheFallen) today at work. His poker experience is VERY similar to mine, except the fact that hes an absolute sicko and has played alot higher lol. Was nice to chat to someone in the same boat (even if it was a little brief :P).

That conversation kinda did influence tonights result. I know I said no stupid tilt shots, but meh. Degens gonna degen imo.

I was playing the usual schedules, fired up some $1s, lost every 60/40, 50/50 and 70/30 I could possibly lose. Went on snap tilt and told myself "Im up 130 in this project, I can have a shot at 50/1 and still be ok". [ ] Went well. Went to 1/2, spun up the 80 I had left into 160 and sat at 2/4. [ ] Went well.

Got myself down to like $65, head was pretty down. Had a look in the tourney lobby for some reason, dunno why, and saw the turbo Fiddy registering. As Iv said above, I love turbos and feel really comfortable in them. Thought if Im gonna do my nuts, may as well give myself a chance.

Long story short I managed to box my way to 5th for $450 and get myself out of the hole. Wiiiiii! Feels pretty good. Would have loved to ship it, $1.8k up top, but out of the hole is fine.

I decided to cash out $260 and leave myself with about what I had before tonights rage. It stops me from spewing it off basically. Back to the grindstone I guess! Well... If you can say thats what Im doing lol

Also won £70 on the casino games lol. Quad 2s in deuces wild@200:1 ftw. Live dealers are really fun too lol

I think we employ people to lose money in cash games.

I think the casino has been rigged in players favour too.

Oh alright then...

What with everyone binking shit left right and center these days, Alex turning into a local celebrity and Sean (ZeroFive) finding his way to the professional circuit, I kinda decided I want a chunk of that. For the past few months Iv been looking for backing to play pretty much anything that Im decent at (turns out you cant get staking for looking like Harry Potter. Sigh).

If you asked me what Id prefer to get backed/coached for, the snap answer would definately have been PLO. For some miraculous god given reason, its actually happened! Spoke to LilDave a few times about it, but at the time his stable was full. He contacted me last week to inform me that hes now Mentoring for BankRoll Supply, and could get me a spot. Ill be honest, and post my exact reaction at the time.

WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII *fistpump fistpump*

How do I manage to run so good? Firstly I get backed for PLO (which I absolutely love), secondly getting mentored by Blondes finest. Run better imo.

Basically the deal atm is as follows: 15 BI's a day for 10c/20c PLO on Encore. 50/50 split with increasing shares and rakeback depending on how well Im doing.

Really really enjoying it. Iv learnt more in the last 2 days than I think I ever have playing PLO. Awesome feeling tbh. Have been running pretty decent, but obv the swings in PLO dictate that youll have good days. Just hopefully, the bad ones dont hurt too much!

Will post updates on how things are going and maybe some interesting spots. Currently winning like 7 buyins over 800 hands in 2 days. Volume isnt massive atm, but trying to get comfortable and playing fairly nitty. Will be increasing in time, but as I say, giving this everything so taking it slow. As Dave said earlier, it isnt a get rich quick scheme, but with hard work and commitment, It should pay dividends and get me crushing alot higher.

Wiiii!

Haha yeah. Hoping this time it's gonna stick!

Well up for crossbooking bets in a few months. Really fun to rail too. For those that don't know what it is, or think it's something else. Basically you both play a session at the same level/game. At the end of the session, if player A is up 100, player B is up 50, then player B pays player A 50. If player A is down 30, and player B is up 100, A pays B 130. It's great fun and good for spectators too lol

Sigh. What a difference a day makes! Around the time of my update post, I was winning around 2 buyins after winning 5 the day before. Upswongs ftw. I wouldnt say I played amazing, more coolered every poor soul that chose to sit at my table.

I went to work yesterday absolutely loving life, had a really really enjoyable shift (ikr?) and got home feeling really fresh after a mcdonalds. Played 2 tables and played awful. I dont know why. There were quite alot of terrible marks in the games, and I was trying to get in pots with them, so this was making me spew. Secondly kept 3b/peeling OOP which is horrid in PLO obv because you get just get owned constantly. End of the night Id lost 5 buyins and pretty much polished off what Im up for the program so far. GG good start.

Well, the show must go on, as they say. Booted up a session and am grinding hard today. Fingers crossed, we go back to coolering everyone!

I know I can be an absolute Tiltus Bramble at times, but that won't stop me from giving advice I can't take. It's not hard to drop a few buyins in one sesh, conversely upswings can feel pretty permanent, and a 10BI swing either way is not infrequent in PLO. I'm sure Dave will talk to you about this in more detail, just don't let it affect your game. Like you say, it's hard to stay sane after 500 bone dry hands and omaha seems impossible when you can't make pairs; but just wait for the wet season and ship multiple buyins. What will separate you from most players at this level is that you don't go broke with air out of frustration. Keep it together you frightening bastard.

Title: Re: McNitus Diaries: Fuelling Cos' love for Nits

Lol @ that post being blown out of proportion. I wasn't that tilted at losing 5 buyins. I know the swings in Omaha are massive and I wasn't really tilted, just a bit frustrated. I was just pointing out how much poker affects your moods, ie going from having a really good night at work to going to bed just wanting it to be tmoro.

Had a few little winning sessions past 2 days. Ended up playing the Mark in a game heads up yesterday which was obv pretty nice life. Winning like 10 buyins over the week which I'm happy with to say iv only played 2k hands or so. Feeling more comfortable with more tables again so will be putting more volume in next week. See how it goes

Absolutey loving life ATM. Had an awesome weekend a Ynot festival with girlfriend and her close friends. Theyre all really nice people and totally enjoyed it. Got very drunk trying a load of different local ciders. Nom.

Feeder headlined one of the nights we were there. They were fucking awesome. It started raining at the start of their set, while everyone else was huddled under an umbrella, I was out dancing around like a muppet in the rain. Was awesome! Beardyman also played just before Feeder. That guy is soooooo talented. Had an amazing set.

Got home and started playing PLO. Missed it alot, weirdly, as the last session I had I managed to do in 12 buyins. Iv had a really swingy session. Been up and down like mad. The downs, Im really glad to say, have come from me being unlucky and the ups from playing well. Really happy with how Iv played today. Who knows, the weekend could have been a spark into getting my head in gear!

A Trip Report?!

Been a long time since I was in a position to do a live TR. However, Iv left Gala now so Im officially allowed back into DTD. Right in time for the APAT!

By the time I realised I could play, I could only enter the PLO. Perfect really, seen as its the game Iv been playing none stop for the past month. Iv literally played no Hold'em for almost 2 months now. I feel comfortable at PLO, however, Iv not played any tournaments for a LOOOONG time, and none since Iv been able to play the game really, so this was to be a really good experience.

From 10k starting stack, I ran like a god in the first few levels. Won A234 double suited on K2356 vs KK for like 5k (bet 500 into 4k on the river to try and get him to bluff jam, he flatted, sigh). Had 88xx on J22, checks round, turned an 8, got 2 streets.

Then had AAQJ, guy limps UTG (has been playing EVERY hand), we pot it, get a call from the blinds. Comes A56 (wiiii), he checks, we bet 1.5k into 3k or so, hoping to get a capable guy behind to do something fun. He folds, UTG calls. Turn 8, not a bad card, as only gutshots get there. Theres 7k in there now and he has 8k, so decide to pot when he checks to me. I get snapped off by 459x. Sigh. River a 7 and we're up to the heady heights of 30k with a 12k average by the first break.

Made a few really good bluffs but only ever showed down the top end of my range from the start of the comp. Ran pretty well tbh. Then this hand occured (was pretty puke). An old guy gets moved to my direct left with quite a lot of chips. Now, looking at the guy, he doesnt seem like somene who has played a whole lot of PLO (of the older agegroup shall we say), so figure that hes ran pretty well and played a lot of hands. In the first 5 hands my suspicions are confirmed and hes played every one of them.

After we find out hes playing every 4, the following occurs. We open KJ88 double suited in the CO, he snap flats the button. V good aggro guy called Dave (Q8holds on here) peels. Comes 672 with 2 of our backdoor flushdraws. Dave checks, we cbet, mateyboy to our left calls and Dave folds. Turn comes a 9. Pretty much bingo for me to fire 3 bullets, as we block the nuts perfectly, and have a gutshot to the nuts. We bet 3/4 pot on the turn, matey snap flats. River 5 completes the 25679 board. Now obv our hand is just a bluff, but we have 2 of the blockers to the nuts and have fired 2, so figured betting 10k into 12k would get through. As soon as I reached for chips, mateyboy looks at me as if to say "Dont bet ffs, I wanna get to showdown". I reach for my stack and he snap reaches for his big chips. This is pretty much always weak, so decide to go with my gut and bet 10k. He sighs, sighs again, sighs a third time, then calls. "Your good", I tell him. He shows KK2x. I didnt even see his 4th card as I was too busy trying not to throw up. Sigh.

Spent a lot of time yo-yoing. Made a couple of big bluffs where my hand could easily be the nuts and they never have anything ever. Lost a 50k pot to put me on 80k with a 30k average, 30 left. Sigh. Ended up losing QQ97 double vs QJ53r. Nice.

Really frustrating comp, but overall, really really pleased with how I played. Bluffed at the right times and made some v good ones, and also got quite a few thin value bets. Just felt like I knew where I was at all points pretty much.

Hopefully the start of many!

Nice.

This is so ridic how long this joke has gone on for!

I thought I was being quite respectful in describing someone as an elderly gentleman! Clearly way off the mark as I've had nonstop shit about it ever since!

What's the best way of describing a man in his 50s/60s/70s then please Tikay?

Age is very important in poker so needs to be relayed to gain the best insight. So I'd like to know for the future. Kthx

You missed out the hand where you led with nut nut in a minraised pot. ;)

Good to finally see a trip report in this diary. Could be a fun hybrid between dealing experiences and playing experiences when Alea opens.

Without any history with a player, age is the single most important factor I'd use when decide how to play a hand vs anyone. You can make pretty accurate stereotypes most of the time with most age groups. Appearance probably a close second.

Tonnes of exceptions of course, such as Tikay, who plays like a 19 year old 48tabler SNG grinder.

The reason TK plays like this is because he knows that he can use the 'old dude' stereotype.

Unfortunately for him he's tez so it's easy to see through.

I agree here entirely btw. Before they give me reason to think otherwise age would be my first indicator of how a person would play.

You are the above Alex :).

Definately agree that I use stereotypes when making decisions. It sounds bad, but it's just the way it is, and until I'm proved that these no longer apply, then I'll still use them. Coincidentally, the one that I have to adapt the most is the younger players, as they're a mixed bag. However, the post in the TR was definately a dig at alex lol.

As Sean mentioned, I pretty much butchered one hand. Guys opens for 1600 at 400/800, we flat KKQ8 with Q8hh, goes to a flop 5 ways and comes Kxx all hearts. Great, we flop second nut with top set. Wiiii! Check, check blinds, PFR checks, we decide to lead for half pot. Everyone folds. At this point I ask mr Simon Trumper to disqualify me for being the worst player in the tournament. Kinda wish he did!

We're leading the second nuts with the top set re-draw. This is as good as you can possibly flop in PLO, besides top set + NF. The only way we can get value is to either bet and let small flushes hang on/get value from worse sets, or check to let 2 pairs get there/people bluff/worse hands try and bet for value.

This hand is pretty much flopping the bottom end of a SF on TJQ. The only thing we can lose to in one hand on the flop or quads on turn and river. I I would take a mortgage and put it in here lol

I'm obv a noob to PLO too, but is it ALWAYS that tez to bet here 5 handed?

Im alive!

Im sat at home bored so thought Id do an update.

Since I last posted, I have transferred my mass rungood to 6max NLH. Started off playing 50NL, which I enjoy so much. Was crushing to start with, getting in alot of cockwaving contests with the regs (who were, for the most part, godawful). Was winning quite a bit and running really well. Alas, this never lasts. Iv started a pretty hard downswing and, as most of you can probably dettest to, am playing far from optimally because of it. Iv decided to take a bit of a break (the below paragraph is the icing on the cake for me here) to get my head back and hopefully start to crush again.

Saturday was the first decent live comp Iv played in quite a while. The £220 Sky Poker Tour 6 max comp was my absolute bread and butter. What more could I wish for? Iv been playing solely 6 max for the past month or so and now I get this gem of a tournament.
First of all, I just want to say that, for the short time I was in, this is another gem of a tournament put on by DTD with, I assume, alot of feedback from Sky Poker. Obviously any 6 max comp with a 15k starting stack and a 40 minuite clock is going to be great though.
I sat down for this and had a quick glance around the table and didnt recognise anybody. I wasnt really expecting to know many people in this tournament, but could see quite a few heroes spotted around the room in the form of Jakally, Julian Thew, CambridgeAlex, Paul Ho and a few others. Tikay took the mic for the thanks and we started up, at which point he went straight from the mic and plonked himself to my direct left.
Now alot is said about how tight Tikay is, however, I saw him showdown  Qh 2h at one point so was definately on my guard. Was an absolute pleasure to be on the table. Another guy in seat 4 who I didnt know was also very chatty and really enjoyed my time on there. Got a few massive compliments from the man himself too (one that was on camera, did a little fistpump inside). Im sure these were all sarcastic though :P.

As for the comp itself, I dont really wanna go into how I bust. I lost  Aspades Ac to  Kc 4c when a guy limp/cold called my 3b then jammed over my c/b on  Kd 8c 4h for a 30k stack in level 3. After that I had 6k coming back after the break and lost  Ad Ks vs  Kc 3c against the same guy when I tried to get tricky pre, flatting his open and getting it in on   Kd Td 6s. Turns the  3s. My bad play I guess!

Left the comp, pretty gutted and met up with PeeJay and a few other mates. Decided I was up for a degenerate streak and spun £20 up to £230 on roulette. Wiiiii. Sat at 1/2 with Alex and did it within 2 orbits. Ah. Busto hand was pretty funny. We peel back  Tc Td UTG and open to £7 playing £118. UTG+1 3b's to £25, folds to us we 4b jam (gambooooool). He thinks for about 1-1.5mins, asking me 4 times how much it was total. He eventually calls and lets out a big sigh as he slides his chips across. Board comes 9 high and I snap turn my hand over so as not to slowroll. He takes one look at my cards, almost leaps out his chair and turns over QQ. I had to check 3 times this wasnt QJ, KQ or even AQ. Nope, it was definately QQ. "This is a strong hand sir, I may even snap call with it!". He just sat there. Ah well!

Sorry if Iv bored anyone that actually read this. I just felt like typing :P.

Cliffs:
Playing 50nl, was winning now not
Played SPT, lost 2 pots for the lot and bust

Played 1/2 with roulette winnings, got nitrolled and lost
Screamed all the way home at how bad I run

Thank the Lord I had position on you, though I very quickly arrived at the view not to mess with you, & hope for a Table break.

But here's the thing, & let's forget the social niceties, & false modesty. You were - far & away - the best player at the Table, I know that, 4 others knew that, & you knew it.

But one man, encased in his hoodie, did not. This guy - I'd call him "inexperienced", many would use the dreadfuly arrogant term "fish" or worse, busted you. He got you twice in fact, he called EVERY Raise you made (most hands) & showed up with the weirdest of holdings. K--3, v your A-K, on a K high flop? Gotta be the nuts, & he was never letting go. Rinse repeat several times.

And this, to me, is a huge part of poker's fascination. It matters not how good players think they are - & you have claimed no such thing, of course - but it's well hard to beat inexperienced players, especially if they are calling stations, & catching cards. In the long term, yes, you'll beat them all, but we don't play much long term in Live Poker.

Eventually, of course, he got trapped all ends up with an airball, & he took it well enough, fair play to him.

Loved sharing the Table with you bud, hope we do it again. With Position, of course.

The £220 Sky  (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3)Poker (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3) Tour 6 max comp was my absolute bread and butter. What more could I wish for? Iv been playing solely 6 max for the past month or so and now I get this gem of a tournament.
First of all, I just want to say that, for the short time I was in, this is another gem of a tournament put on by DTD with, I assume, alot of feedback from Sky  (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3)Poker (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3).

Played roulette, won
Played 1/2 with roulette winnings, got nitrolled and lost
Screamed all the way home at how bad I run

Sir!

Be assured, my compliments were wholly sincere - it was an abso pleasure to observe, from such close quarters, an aggro young gun doing his thing. I loved every minute of it. I really really do appreciate this comment Tikay, thank you very much.

As for the beats. I watched "Lucky You" a while back. Cliffs of the film are a broke grinder who lives in the shadow of his "legend of the game" father gets a seat in the WSOP ME and finals alongside his Dad. They have a chat about luck etc. Basically, the film, imho, is crap. However, the one part I love about it is one where Robert Duvalls character (the father), says "It just wasnt my time, it was his" (or words to that effect). That was definately what I was telling myself Saturday.

Like you said, poker is a game of variance. However, in a live scenario, none of us are going to play enough hands of poker with the same players to even out these swings. Youve gotta take the good with the bad.

Its funny how life has a way of proving that its always right.

After saying about how funny poker can be etc, literally the next night I go and bink a bit of a score. Wiiii.

A friend was playing a $1 3 x Turbo, unlimited rebuy comp on Pokerstars and I thought "well, that could be fun". Ended up registering for a 2 x Turbo too. The 3x Turbo made around 40k, busted that shortly after the break though. The 2x turbo was a bit better. After the first break, I had around 6x the average and was chip leader. LOL. Long story short we manage to bink 4th place for $640.

I played absolutely terribly today. I mainly played to mess around, then got a stack and fairly deep so decided I should probably pay attention. After deciding to pay attention, I still played shit but binked anyway. Wiiiii, poker really is fun.

Anyway, cashed it straight out to rub on my titties/go towards actually eating this month. Get in!

And well done for cashing out. I know you love you're food so spend it wisely. I don't wanna see you at DTD anytime soon alright?!

Lol@bumping this.

Gonna be playing pretty much every event in the upcoming micromillions series. Thought Id bump this up to put funny hands etc in.

Got 6 events tonight, the 10c unlimited rebuy turbo 6max, $1R 3x turbo, $5.50 freeze, $3.30R PLO 6max, $10.50 Superknockout turbo and the $4.40 Hold'em turbo.

The prizes arent gonna be life changing, but would be nice to bink one! (or 2 or 3 or all of them :D)

10c unlimited is a really strange one. You can buy as many chips as you like, 50 chips per unit, 10c a unit. Unfortunately for me, you can only buy 1 unit at a time and the rebuy period is only 20 minuites.

Managed to get 266 units in in the allotted time frame, to put me on around 13.5k for the freezeout period.

Keep in mind, the blinds started at 1/2, so now we're at 5/10/1 and I have 13,500 chips. BIG BLINDS EVERYWHERE.

we're 105th richest out of 31622 atm, so leggo. $4.6k up top

Bust everything by 11:30. Lost a flip in the 5.50 freeze and had 10 bigs for ages in the 4.40, was maintaining well then ran KJ into JJ.

Made a small loss on the day but I think I cashed half the stuff I played, so fairly decent start. Just gotta hope when I get a run I run like god late stages!

So tilting how bad I played that hand. Then get 23, 24, 92, 72 when Im getting it in with 90% of hands, then get KJ vs JT for 2 bigs and he rivers a T. Sigh

Properly rofl moment.

Register the 2.20 6m freeze for a bit of fun. 5 minuites in, G2L late reg's and gets sat to my direct left. Theres me, him, a platinumstar scandi and 3 sitouts. If you didnt know, me and G2L both have Stato_1 as our avatar. So lol.

Obv a cockwaving contest starts. Then me and G2L get 10 bets in pre with AK vs his KK. We flop an ace. WIIII. So funny

Lol here we go again!

It seems like everyone that has a diary is getting the lot. Therefore Im thinking I should bump this up, talk to myself some and moan it in!

So what have I been up to lately...

I joined the Goulden Empire not so long ago. As most of you know, Alex is one of my best friends, and I also LOVE MTTs more than anything else in poker. The opportunity Alex is giving me is amazing really. Access to very good coaching, a stable whos brains I can pick regularly and obviously staking.

Unfortunately its not been going too well up to now. I am in MU but its not alot so thats fine. Feel like Im playing really really well atm, there are a few leaks in my game I need to plug and a few things I need to learn but thats all good. Nobody is ever perfect!

I started on .FR today. Id heard the rumours but jesus christ... The players on there literally give you money hand over fist! There are a few good regs but I havent met many of them!

Day 1 has gone pretty well. Made 1 final already, came 4th in a Hyper Turbo for like 50e. Am currently 9/99 in the 6max club (15e), 3/134 in the big 2e and 56/787 in the big 5e with the big 10e just starting. The prizepools are pretty shit, but any half decent player has such a big edge on here it kinda doesnt matter. Im freerolling the day so hopefully something works out from here.

Will write more about non poker stuff when the sessions done, along with results :P

14/16 in the 6 max club. Have average in the big 5e with 342 left and double average in the 10e, but 1k left in that.

Busted the big 2e in 15th, AQ<JJ for 14 bigs each. Pretty sigh

Nice, get the diary going!

We've gotta hold our end up for the diary club! :D

Glad about the staking, just one questions - what do you want this diary to achieve?

Get some wins tonight and then get out with the lads... no diary is complete without a bunch of degen/ drunken nights!

I dont know really. Its nice to look back and see how you got to where you are today. When Im loaded and playing 100/200 in vegas, itll be nice to be able to look back at when I was a broke grinder!

Busted the 6 max club in 14th. Reshipped ATo after a really aggro guy (bit spewy) ships 15 bigs, ran into QQ behind

That's what i feel, and I'll definitely attribute 95% of my improvement this year to my diary alone and the connections it has created.

It's worth knowing what you want out of it, in order to know where you're going.  Otherwise how can you measure how far along you are?

Set some goals mate and put them on here, either for a month/ 6/ a year... and have something to work towards.

There's some great mtt players on here, and picking their brains/ sweating/ playing vs even... will all help you soo much.

Most of the sweats didnt come to anything last night. 14th in the 6max club, 15th in the big 2e, 81st in the big 10e so all for bowls. Pretty sigh. Really really promising start though!

Had a few more sweats today. All ended up bricking but its good news and confidence is pretty high atm. Feel like Im playing really really good poker and really believe that something is coming.

Confidence has never been something Iv excelled with. When I used to swim, Id stand on the blocks and there'd be literally nobody I could look at at the side of me and not believe I could beat. That confidence is something that you definately need in poker. Its inside me somewhere, I just have to unleash the beast!

Thinking about going to Alea tonight for their £10+£4 with 2 rebuys. Its a decent tournament, normally gets about 60 runners. Its a while since I played live so itll be nice.

Only problem is Im not quite sure that Ill be allowed in lol. Having left mot too long ago, I could be barred. Will have a go though. Hopefully I can get in, if not Ill be coming back to play online!

So yeah, was supposed to be going to Alea tonight to play their tournament. The cardroom is run by a load of my mates so itd be a good laugh but also pretty good value.

As some of you may know, I worked at Alea around 3? months ago, until I left to go to Gala (where I also left lol). As I said, its been 3 months since I worked there, and 2 months since I worked at Gala, so thought Itd be ok. In the past, ex staff havent served bans from the cardroom, only from the pit. One guy left and was allowed to play poker the following week, one a month after he'd been sacked and another a few months after.

Basically expected to just have to clear it with them really. Oh no. Id been asking my friend who runs the cardroom to ask about it. He wasnt really given an answer, just "ill let you know". To save myself driving down there (25 mins or so) and being turned away, I phoned in advance to make sure it was ok. I got put through to somebody who I didnt know (I knew every member of staff 3 months ago) and he said he'd find out, took my number.

15 minuites later I got a phonecall. "Hello Jamie, you wont be allowed to play today. Sorry." then put the phone down. Tbh Im pretty disgusted with this. No explanation, no reason, just "not today thanks". Wouldnt really mind if it wasnt for the past incidents as casinos have these policies and whatever, but this just seems like one rule for one.

I may be wrong, it could be that there was nobody in that was able to authorise it (though my friend assures me hes spoken to everyone besides the GM). If I am wrong then apologies, but if not, does anyone know if I have a leg to stand on?

I may be wrong, it could be that there was nobody in that was able to authorise it (though my friend assures me hes spoken to everyone besides the GM). If I am wrong then apologies, but if not, does anyone know if I have a leg to stand on?

Sucks to say it mate but with stuff like this I find its better to 'turn up' and mention other people doing it rather than 'ask in advance' cos then its all official like.
Still sucks tho. ul.

£2 nuts poker league it is... sure Alex gots da rolls? :P

Objectives please... want to know ur aims for this and next year... (or good guesses)

I been told that they don't like TRAITOR like u dude!!!
Sorry

Ok so plans...

First and foremost, I obviously want to play for a living. To do this, I need to win enough money playing MTTs to be able to play 50/1. There are plenty of easy 50/1 games around besides Gala that I know I can do this. Obviously to really play for a living Id need to be playing 1/2 also, but that will come in time. Start small and all that!

Really want to be a reg in the deepstacks etc. The times I have played these I have felt really comfortable and have gone deep, so feel like I can do well in those in the future. I have to work up to that point though, so time to grind.

Eventually Id like to be rich enough to play the crystal maze end game in my car. Blowers on full, throw up some 50s and scream the theme tune as loud as I can. ONE TIME

GG, A7<K3 first hand after bubble vs a shorter stack, left us with 2.3k at 2/4. Get that in with 78o openers AQ and flop a straight with a flush draw and hold. Then get remaining 10k in with AK vs 66, he flops a set. Boring!

I think zzzz perfectly sums up my session today.

Had 4 sweats towards the end. All with chips, 3 of them ITM, 1 close. Busted the one that wasnt ITM on the bubble (second thing Id pure bubbled for the day lol). Me and Alex were both still in 1 with similar chips, 1 was 14k up top and had double ave and the other was the big 10e with 3k up top where I was 6/300 or something. Ended up busting 2 of them in 60-80th or so, and 1 tabling the big 10e. Had a really good feeling about it from the start and did feel sooooo good playing. Ended up busting 16th for 70e when 78dd couldnt get there vs AKo (my BTN shove for 13bbs vs BB).

So yeah... Pretty much zzzz. Story of my grind lately really! Keep getting into positions to have really good results and busting. Bore off please!

Post by: JK on September 13, 2012, 07:28:28 PM
Suppose I can give you guys a reason to take the piss out of me! Since getting with my girlfriend a year last March, Iv got into Horses. Its a pretty stupid sounding hobby reserved for 11 year old girls, but I get so much pleasure from it its unbelievable. Its basically just like having a dog but you can sit on it and ride round! The other good thing is because they live in a field, you can just walk away when your bored and go back in the morning.

So the first Horse I bought was an ex racer. We had him on loan because his owner was pregnant at the time and couldnt really look after him. He was a lovely Chestnut Thoroughbred calling Inchy. His racing name was Inchpast and he won about £65k in his racing days but had to retire early due to injury. He was a lovely horse, really loyal and loveable. He started to develop riding problems though (as alot of ex-racers do). I didnt ride Inchy, which made these problems even worse because it was my girlfriend/mum in danger of being hurt. We moved to a different yard and he calm down alot. We decided to just leave him as a "field ornament", basically just enjoy him as a horse and not ridden. At this point, he started mounting the mares. Stupid horse! For those who dont know, male racehorses are left with their bits until they finish racing. If they do well, they can be put to stud and the owner can make more money. If they arent too successful/get injured, they get them snipped off (gelded). Some horses are a big riggy though, where they believe they are still a stallion, which is what happened with Inchy. So after that he had to go home. I was pretty heartbroken as I absolutely loved that horse, but itd cost too much money to sort out his problems and he wasnt our horse at the end of the day!

For those that are interested, this is Inchys racing record: http://www.racingpost.com/horses/horse_home.sd?horse_id=587552#topHorseTabs=horse_race_record&bottomHorseTabs=horse_form

So that left me without a horse! For a while I just helped with everyone elses and enjoyed them, but one day I won a tournament somewhere (brags) and decided I wanted a new one. Leanne had seen a lovely one on a Facebook page that was free to a good home. The only thing was, the horse had bucked its owner off and broke her back, meaning she was going to have him shot if nobody collected him. Well obviously that was it, me and Leanne were in the lorry the next day going to fetch him. He turned out to be a chestnut (again) Welsh Section D called Sox. Section D's are incredibly smart horses, and Sox is no exception. Except that day when we went to see him, he was petrified. Of EVERYTHING. I walked into the stable and he went that rigid he would have shattered if you flicked him. We decided to give him a good home though, and took him back. Thats after we took an hour and a half attempting to load him into the lorry.

Long story short with Sox (I could go on for hours), Hes now a completely different horse. Hes still not ridden, but I think he prefers it that way. Sox has cuddles for everyone that will give him 5 minuites and spooks at alot less. He has good and bad days, but the bad days are getting less and less. Its like hes Bi-Polar, but we seem to have it under control mainly. Sox is now owned by my dad as I got another horse (see below) and just didnt have enough time for both. Dad is brilliant for him as he has a really calming nature (and he really really loves him).

So that leaves me with my newest horse! Me and Leanne were looking for a horse for me. For those that dont know me, Im 6ft 4 and weigh 17 stone, so we needed to find a good weight carrier. We decided that an Irish Draught Mare would suit me best. A mare purely so we can breed later in her life (Irish draughts cost quite alot compared to everything else, so its nice to be able to get a return later in their life). We looked everywhere and couldnt find anything for less than £5000 which was way out our budget. Anyone thats ever bought anything will know that sometimes when you go out you end up coming back with something totally different. You go out to buy fags, you come back with a barbeque etc. Well its the same thing with Horses. Leanne wanted a 7 year old mare when she bought a horse, she ended up with a 1 year old gelding. Well for some reason, that wasnt the case with us! We found an advert for an Irish Draught Mare, 2 years old, chestnut (as both my previous horses had been) and for very cheap. We had to travel to Chester to see her, about 2 and a half hours away. I fell in love with her the second I walked into the field. There were so many coincidences with Solstice (the owner had the same surname as me, she'd put it on the day after we lost a sale for another horse etc) that it really feels like we were meant to get her.

So thats where I am now! Solstice will be old enough to ride by next June, so really looking forward to that. People take the piss out of me 24/7 for having horses, but I absolutely love them. They dont cost as much as people make out, and when you do buy one, alot of the time you can sell them for more if you buy them young. The other thing with mares is you can have a foal and that basically means you're freerolling the mother if you sell the foal.

If you've made it this far, thanks alot. Pretty boring post but I abs love my Horses :). Will put some pictures below

I have a cousin who swan for a Doncaster club and holds a few records there. He would have gone to the Sydney Olympics but for breaking his foot.

Might do a post about it soon. I should have been at the London Olympics but I was just a lazy sod. Absolutely killed me watching the swimming, there were people there that I used to beat/compete against and it was really hard.

Yeah,  I love nothin more than sittin down to relax in front of the tv with my horse on my lap. I tickle his horsey belly, he looks up at me lovingly and licks my face then he will pop and fetch my slippers before going to bed where he sleeps in between me and the mrs. <3 Horses

Had a great time riding the dog yesterday too. Went round all the fields round ours and had a race with the mrs sat on her Border Collie. After the dogs back in the field, they went for a drink, ate their fill and had a shit. Best thing is, I didnt even have to clean the shit up, as the dog only eats grass!

I have the secret to winning at poker! All you have to do is start a diary!

I kid obviously. You have to be a massive luckbox too.

So we did a grind at the house of Goulder/PJ/Stato. They were joined by myself, Jack and Sean for a Sunday session. I absolutely love those Sunday sessions but with work and everything its difficult to do it often. But this week, DRUMROLL PLEASE, we did a win!

Tbh, its not that amazing really, but Im really really pleased and its massively morale boosting. Came 3rd in the Hot 25e on .fr for 1ke. I was a bit gutted to come 3rd as lost QQ<JJ 3 handed to go HU with 1:1 which is really annoying, but had a few lucky ones on the way like 88>JJ with 6 left, J9>AK with 8 left etc.

Could have been an amazing Sunday. We lost AA<AT with 700 left in the Sunday Storm to go to top 20 chips, came 30th in the 6max freezeout that Jack came 2nd in (WP to Jack btw, he played siiick) and also came like 60th in the big 20 (literally just keep going deep in these bigs and hots on .fr, <3 it).

Its nice to not have a moan for once. Wiii :)

Time for my 3-6 monthly bump!

I've had this diary for ages now, keep starting it and letting it drop because I dont really have time to play poker that much, so dont have alot to write about. Im working 5 days a week and my days off I try and spend as much time with Leanne (my girlfriend) as I can, because we work opposite shifts and its very difficult to get time together.

As Iv stated last time I made a poor effort at resurrecting this, I get staked for MTTs. Obviously this is a bit of a problem atm as I can only really play once a week at best. Im trying really hard to get the hours in but struggling.

I spoke to Alex yesterday and decided it may be a good idea to start grinding some 9man SnGs. That way, I can play a session or 2 before I go to work, or after if I finish early. I played a session yesterday and found the games to be VERY good. Im playing 5/10e turbos on .fr and another site.

For those who dont know, 3-4 years ago I used to 24 table these. Its absolute braindeath after a bit, but I really want to make a good go of things this year so knuckling down. Will post yearly goals after my session.

Basically Im bumping this so I can keep track of profit/loss/volume in my SnG's and MTTs. Will do my best to keep up with it!

Minisessionbeforeworkandinsteadofsleep

Games Played:      9
Profit:                 61e
Games To Date:   9
Profit To Date:     61e

Lost a couple of annoying ones in 10e but ran well in the 5s. Could have been more but if I keep winning at that rate then Ill be pretty happy haha. #rightsideofvarianceftw

Work tonight and early tmoro, so probably no grinding till Sunday (if I finish work early enough). Have got an MTT session planned for Tuesday though so that'll be fun. Will update here.

The one thing I do actually dislike about the sites I'm playing is that there is NO traffic early in a morning. Its just me, sat with 10 registered tables, along with 1 other guy registered for a single one. Fantastic lol.

I've woken up at 5am for the past week or so (which is incredibly annoying and draining). My sleep pattern is really really messed up atm and its starting to take a toll. Really need to give myself a kick and sleep properly for a few days before I end up in a barrier somewhere between J27 and J26 of the M1. I actually finished early yesterday and was really up for playing. Nope, fell asleep by about 9pm.

Ah well, will probably just play some Call of Duty instead. I cant win money at that and it makes me want to throw things. Seems alot like poker!

Considering going for Goldstar on .fr next month. Id need 2500 VPPs, which at the buyins I play is somewhere between 15-30 a day, or 90 VPPs. Should be pretty easy imo, as I can play alot more on my days off and if I play an MTT session it'll obviously shoot up. Its a long time since I had a "star" on any site, so I think thats a good way to start the year. I've said I want to put a real effort in and make it by playing pro by December, so small goals is probably a good way to go about it.

Lost my notepad for the exact stats of the last session I played (yesterday), but played around 15 and lost about 50e. Ran pretty dirt in everything really. I think SnGs are second only to MTTs for the worst things to run bad in. Going from 12 tables to 6 in 5 minutes is so depressing its untrue lol.

Playing an MTT session atm. Started well, long may it continue till we have 5 figs in accounts everywhere :D.

Btw, question for the grammar nazi's out there. Is it minuite or minute? I always thought there was an second i in there but computer keeps telling me I typo'd. Surely minute is "my-nute", ie very small?

minute:

Noun
A period of time equal to sixty seconds or a sixtieth of an hour.
A summarized record of the proceedings at a meeting.

Adjective
Extremely small: "a minute dealer error as JK exposed the entire deck on the river, with a player still thinking about calling the all-in shove".

Honestly Neil, I'm not completely sure lol. Atm, my plan is to save up a 50/1 roll to play deep casino games. Obviously will still be grinding online while saving, so might get lucky and bink enough to give me a comfortable start. I would 100% keep my job if I was to start grinding 50/1, because I do love it, but its nice to have a safety net.

Wrt what, fingers crossed online MTTs (just more volume), live cash. I basically want to put a lot of effort into my game this year. Sweat sessions, coaching, talking with friends etc is obv gonna be a big help, but the biggest thing for me is volume and confidence.

No I dont use any tracking software atm, something I really feel like I'm starting to need. Will sort that in time.

I havent played SnGs on 888 vegas, they deec in the morning?

Well it probably aint going to happen, unless you really want it to happen, and if you really want it to happen, you should be doing everything in your power to get there.
(BTW I'm not saying that you should be a FT Poker Player, that's a separate subject altogether).

Let's be honest, most people who go full time, have a large slice of luck, or fall into circumstances where it's an obvious choice, and don't set it as an objective which they make happen.
It's not surprising then, that there is a high percentage failure rate, and of the ones that stick at it, quite a lot are under-rolled, or playing staked and surviving rather than living life to the full.

Will catch 10 minutes with you at some point, and have a chat about some of this stuff.

I have a good one for this, just say you got a sick discount on January sales and if you get it now you save 40 dorrar off. It's ridiculously important you can also use it on 2 computers so could chop it with a friend. Worst comes to worst put it on the makeup? It's so critically important.

You could give your database to Alex and he could prolly tell you exactly where you're going wrong and fixing one leak can make you so much more in long term. Also when you run bad toucan show him ev lines :p

Definitely good ideas. Currently looking for someone to chop it with.

On an off topic note: Its fucking cold. This is the first time ever I would have preferred not to have horses. Its absolutely baltic at our field and obviously we have to feed them as theres too much snow for them to graze properly. The wind chill is the killer, its just painful.

Simple solution.  Make burgers!
