Title: 6 Nations 2011
Post by: Josedinho on February 02, 2011, 06:37:00 PM
Starts on Friday with Wales hosting England. Love the Friday night games!
Should be pretty competitive in a World Cup year.
Still think France have the best players but not sure about their coach and their fixtures.
Outright prices are pretty yuck. Might have a look at the top tryscorer market in a bit.
I've backed Ireland - England in the straight forecast.
Ireland start with Italy and have England and France at home. After the Wales game which is winnable, England have 3 games (including the French) at home.
My hope is that Ireland V England game on the final weekend could be a grandslam decider and if not both teams will have at least won 3 and lost 1 and be in the race for the title and I'll get a sweat/be compensated if England don't win it.
The lovely people at skybet have priced this up at 12/1 when other bookies are as short at 7/1.

On the way to Cardiff

Wales 5/4. I have them slight favourites at home, I must say.

You should lump on Wales at that price, that's big............

5/4 yesterday

15/8 is huge. It's a 50-50 game imo. Good value. England probably better but Wales big home advantage against England.

11-8 Skybet. 2-1 betfair.

If only betfair sponsored the forum everyone might have been on :)

I like England by 1-12 at 11/8. Agree it is close but I think we can edge it. Don't think Hook at 15 was the right choice. He's a much much better player than that.
Last year Wales seemed to play well after going behind so maybe England HT/ Wales FT if they get Hook at 10 or centre later in the game.

Brian Moore is an extremely biased commentator imo, do the many Englishmen on here share my sentiment?

He is fairly, but he does makes some pretty good points.

Tells it like it is on the games. His views on scrummaging are very right, and the current law ruins the game

Yes he is a bit biased, but he is also one of the best analysts around.

Jonathan Davies v good too. Nicol ok. Guscott terrible.

On Sky Barnes is ok, Morris horrible and Will Greenwood excellent

Don't think I've heard an impartial Rugby commentator to be honest. Moore is not in the same league as Davies for bias.

Anyone remember the first Fiji side to tour here? Well probably not obv. as it was in the 1960's

Well anyhow they had a bloke called Batibasanga(sp?) who scored a breakaway try and dived spectacularly to score with noone within twenty yards of him which we all thought was hilarious at the time as we'd never ever seen anything like it before. Somebode who's techy-smart should try and dig out a clip on u-tube, I would if I could.

That first England try reminded me of it just a little bit.

LOL, I think I must be a bit of a rugby nit, I don't like to see them do it in case they fk it up. It has been known!

Hope the others this weekend are as entertaining.

Ebay, though ticket agencies or from touts on the day. Expect to pay though the nose probably over £250 would be my guess without looking.

Easy for England yesterday.
Was pretty disappointed with Scoltand. Hopefully Wales have improved and will give France and Ireland a game.
Really need Ireland to come back and beat France.

Flood had a shocker first half, much better when Wilko came on..we could play territory more. Much better second half performance and only a forward pass and a bad Ashton decision prevented 2 more tries

Title: Re: 6 Nations 2011
Post by: Josedinho on February 26, 2011, 07:57:59 PM
Yeh Flood was poor first half but was good for the first 10 in the 2nd. Wouldn't like to make a decision over who would be in the back 3 if everyone was fit.
England lose so few games at Twickers that the grandslam was never really on for the French. Would have been confident of beating them in France nevermind at home.

To be fair the French pissed away a few opportunities too with bad passing/drops, and as Nicol pointed out a couple of favourable bounces for the French and it could have been a different story. Small margins 'n all that.
