Title: Sky N Go 2: March Competition.
Post by: TightEnd on March 01, 2011, 10:18:41 AM
Sky N Go 2 with blonde Poker

March blonde-Sky Poker Competition

- Play a minimum of 25 DYM SNGs or 15 Standard Payout SNGs or both (of any format: 10 seater, 6 seater, Heads Up, Turbo, Speed, Omaha, Hold Em) on Sky Poker throughout March

- Post on this thread with your Sky Poker Alias to participate

- blonde will monitor your results via Sharkscope and produce league tables for players according to average ROI

- Play at any buy in level

-  To be eligible for the prize you have to play at least 25 DYMs or 15 traditional format SNGs

- Only blonde members as at 1-3-11 are eligible

- At least ten qualfying players are needed for this promotion to run

- Because of traffic difficulties in standard SNGs I have decided to run two leagues

- Winners of each will receive £50 into their Sky Poker account

LEAGUE A: STANDARD.

For results in traditional format SNGs from 2 to 10 players only. Minimum of 15 SNGs to qualify

LEAGUE B: DOUBLE YOUR MONEY

For results in Double Your Money's Only. Minimum of 25 DYM SNGs to qualify

It would help when posting if people let me know which format they are reporting on

You can play in both leagues

https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tJ4qolLBaCALeV1FdZXy-Yw#gid=0

Happy to answer any questions

Play can begin immediately, post to let me know you are participating

The idea here is to give those playing DYMs only a chance to scoop a prize, whereas its unlikely in a joint league

15 requirement only for the standard SNGs as they are trickier to fill, currently

You can play in both leagues

Can I make a suggestion that people should be allowed more than one go at the 25/15 games? Otherwise people like MereNovice who play loads more games have no chance of winning, people who record a good score for 25 have a disincentive to playing any more, and people who get off to a bad start have no extra incentive to keep playing. Could avoid that by allowing people to record a score at 25 and then start again from the next day (as long as they tell you obviously, so you can just use a different custom date search in Sharkscope).

Yes that's a good idea

We'll do it in batches of 15 and 25, as long as sufficient info comes through from the players

Clever lad that Moskvich, always said it.

I'll try and get a couple of batches of standards in. Might try a few DYMs too. I'm too good to you really.

I have no chance of winning, fullstop, but thanks for the thought. :)

I'll definitely be playing DYMs and probably other SnGs too.

Just for clarification.
Can we start these batches at any point or do they have to start at our first game, 26th game, 51st game etc (for DYMs), i.e. if I stink for the first ten games can I just start scoring from the 11th game onwards?

Ninja permissioning?

Anyway, played 2 yesterday, ROI -100%. Which means if I play no more this month, I'll have a consistent result for the first 2 months of this competition. Consistency is good ISN'T IT?

2 more just now. Maintaining my record. FML.

Alias is Rex0088. Username is Rex008, didn't realise this wasn't also the alias, otherwise I'd have done it the other way round. Doh.

I've now played double what I did last month already. Realised I can fit the odd one in get knocked out of one in the time between the wife saying "I'll just be 2 more minutes" and her actually finishing what she's doing. Most liquidity in the DYMs though, which I can't stand. I get less bored listening to one side of her phone calls. So I just see what else is filling up, and play it. That involved a £10 HU hi/lo (Q high straight < K high straight) and a £2 "scary" (K9 < J8, damn you Moskvich).

I'm going to aim to keep my perfect record I think. I do like nice round numbers. Played 4, ROI -100%. Small pots won = lots. Big pots lost = 4 too many.

15 SnGs completed with an ROI of -11%.
I'll hazard a guess that this won't be a winning score.

8 of 13 DYMs for ROI of 12%.

I have now completed 40 DYMs and 30 "normal" SnGs.
If my figures are correct, I have cashed in 13 of 15 of my 2nd tranche of SnGs for an ROI of 70%.
I'm too cheap to subscribe to Sharkscope so I can't check this against the "official" stats.

I know I'm bad, but 21 at -100% might be a sheet mistake. Sharkscope shows me 22 at about -30% on the "by month" search

Thanks.
Not sure where the discrepancy arises but I think I have to accept Sharkscope's figures.

Well yeah, it potentially gets a bit more complicated than had occurred to me that it might... sorry about that... though I don't think anyone's played enough for it to be too hard yet.

You can do a 'custom games' search for the last x games, so as long as you know when someone finishes a batch of 15 and they don't play any more that day, then you're ok.

So for MereNovice for example, searching now, you can search 'custom date' from 1-12 March excluding double or nothings, and see he's played 30 games exactly at 23%. Then you do a 'custom games' search for the last 15 games and it gives you an ROI of 57% for that batch.

Sharkscope doesn't actually give you a way of finding the ROI of a previous batch though. So if he'd played four batches and you wanted to know the ROI of the second batch, that would be tricky, unless you knew the dates when he'd played them and they hadn't overlapped in with any other batches. That is, if he played 15 games from 1-3 March and then 15 from 4-6 and then 15 from 7-9, it's easy enough because you can do a custom date search on these dates. But if he played 20 from 1-3 and 10 from 4-6 then it's a bit harder to separate out.

If it comes to that then I'll do them for you if you like as penance for not thinking of that in the first place... Obviously you can work it out though with some 'custom game' searches (say someone's played 62 and you want to know the ROI of the second batch, and didn't know the dates of that batch, then you'd have to find the ROI from the last 47 and the ROI from the last 32, and work out what the ROI of the second batch of 15 would have to be to make the difference between the two numbers). In MereNovice's case above, for example, you can work out the ROI of his first batch easily enough at -11%, given the numbers that come out of the two Sharkscope searches.

I'm new to Blonde but been on sky for a while now.

Just a couple of questions for you if you don't mind.
does this run every month?  and   I only have low BR so tend to play a lot of low level DYM's so do players who play higher stakes have an advantage over us poor peolple?

Welcome to blonde

It's the second month this has run. Not sure about next month yet. About 2/3 of those who played month 1 haven't played month 2, so might be going with a different idea for April. Probably based around cash games

the scoring is done on Average ROI. So whatever your bankroll you have a chance to win, its not scored on actual £ won

Personally, I'm not fussed either way; this has certainly got me playing more, as if I can squeeze a couple in in 30-60 mins of free time, I will, whereas I wouldn't if this wasn't happening. Unfortunately even that kind of free time is rare in my case. It's not helped by the lack of liquidity in non-DYMs on Sky even with my agnostic approach to what I'll play.

Not sure if you can tweak anything to make it more popular. What else are you thinking of? I'd be ok if you ran a cash league instead, although not sure quite how that would work.

Cash league, not sure. Recording results being the problem

Would just like a SNG league to have the sort of runners it had month one really. I know Non DYM liquidity is a problem

I know Non DYM liquidity is a problem

Think we re maybe exaggerating this a little - if you wanted to four-table £5 turbos (scaries) in the evenings you d be perfectly able to. A lot of different games are offered and most don t run, but you could easily play 15 or 20 games, say, in one evening, if you play what others are playing. The fact that people aren t playing even 5 in an evening is down to something other than liquidity.

In two minds as to whether to run this next month, as volumes are way down that month one without any explanation on here as to why apart from apathy

30 other SNG's played.
