Steve watts seems to have happily taken on role as table Captain, watched him take down four consecutive pots. Dunno whether he's a good player or if people are just impressed that he used to be a footballer. Steve Myland has just suggested to me that I do a feature on who should be married to who. As there are three women playing out of the 70 likely candidates today, I can't see much mileage in this one, but maybe I'm wrong. Steven Chennells limps UTG, Nathan Lee and Terry Mitford call and Martin and Husnu complete and check in the blinds flop 6d 8s 5s checked to Lee who fires 1,500 into 2,100 Mitford calls (I might just put that statement on an auto loop for three days) Martin passes, Husnu and Chennells call So four way to the 5c turn. All check River 3h Husnu leads for 4,200 into 8,200 Lee calls others pass Husnu shows 6s 7d which loses to Lee's 9s 6h Husnu isn't too happy "this fucking geezer just never passes do you geezer? What do you think you are beating?" Pause, Lee says softly "Six Seven off?" Title: Re: English Deepstack at G Casino Luton: Day 1a Post by: mouth on March 03, 2011, 08:01:20 PM Quality example of correct table etiquette when Shane Dewsbury got it allin with AK against Simon Hendry's Aces.
Shane hits a king on the flop but is turning away from the table when a second King comes on the tuen. He runs across the card room to his mate screaming YES YES I GOT LUCKY, followed by what can only be described as a small victory dance in the style of Morecambe & Wise "Bring me sunshine", then runs back to slam the table about 5 times while shouting I GOT LUCKY. Simon Hendry sat silently staring at the flop as Shane then apologised to him, while the whole table looked away, and politely replied "Nice hand". Vinny "supershortstack" Calenti then said "Perhaps you should apologise for the celebration rather than the beat" but it fell on deaf ears. More embarrassing was as I was typing this and Shane came over to check that I had the deatils of the hand and read it over my shoulder... He asked me was I saying he played it badly - I said, not at all, I'm simply telling people what a twat you were after than hand. (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GVOzcL819mQ/TTcCEYzUT8I/AAAAAAAAFvU/Oq8fxLXUHG0/s400/nov-full-moon.jpg) Must be. The D 4 rule that any out of turn action attracts a one round penalty is causing some problems. Especially on table Paul Garnahm where he and Dave Welch get into a verbal ruck after a player passes out of turn, and the dealer does not call the TD over to apply the penalty Paul tells Welch to shut up, Welch points at Paul, Paul tells Welch that he shouldn't talk all over the table, Welch volleys back, the TD comes over, Steve Krik joins in on the next table. Unlike Paul, that. Normally a placid type. (http://www.mygiftindex.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Handbags.jpg) They are friendly again now though. I asked him this, but he insisted he was never shoving Having just got to 100,000 he immediately gave 40,000 back in two hands In the first he led all three streets of Q-2-8-J-J with 8x and was called by 8x bigger kicker He was then limp called pre and check called twice by 9x on a A-9-x-x board. Title: Re: English Deepstack at G Casino Luton: Day 1a Post by: TightEnd on March 03, 2011, 11:27:38 PM Meanwhile we've broken to five tables and fatigue is pretty much the order of the day
Tim Blake has joined table celtic/Edna and came over to me and said "Who is that pillock in seat three?" it's unfair to set that as a quiz question to you, after all the number of candidates is high, but the correct answer was Victor Ilyukhin who seems accomplished at getting his opponent's backs up with slow actions and a hint of arrogance. Alex is really in the zone. In plenty of pots but a fearsomely tricky player to play, from experience, and a tremendous hand reader. It being their event, its being run to their rules Numbers will be fine Jason 150+ today will make 220 total for an over £100,000 prize pool Confusion around this rule aside, which is not the venues fault the organisation by the G Luton has been perfect. Good luck at DTD. Have a shave, Adam will be taking plenty of pics of you! Today will be a much bigger field and I am looking forward to reading the updates throughout the day.
The acting out of turn rule certainly seemed to flummox a few people but it is used in a lot of events and I am very surprised about the number of incidents that occurred yesterday compared to any of the previous events where it has been in place. The G Casino Luton has been great so far. Dena, George & team have been excellent. This ends up with Paul Romain (who has acted out of turn, and thinks the player has put his cards behind his chips and therefore he should not receive a penalty) getting a penalty and erupting like Vesuvius at the TD, other players and pacing the casino like a wounded Rhino with a Roulette fetish He says to Dave Robinson, the other party "You are out of order" and I have deleted the expletives Bed cannot come too soon for most of this field! hmm....yes I will admit to a bit of an eruption :-( I was absolutely furious at the time and not in much of a better mood today. This was the 11th level of a long day. To the best of my knoweldge there hadnt been a single incident of anyone acting out of turn on our table all day to this point. I was in c/o in seat 6, and looked down at my cards and then back up at the players to my right. I saw no cards at all. There was a player two to my right who had his hands nearly flat on the table in front of me and who was staring straight ahead and didn't appear to be engaged in the hand any more. I looked at the dealer and that instant he was looking directly at me - so I folded. The dealer looked to the player to my left who raised. After a while a voice pipes up from seat 4 "Aren't you going to say anything?" (aimed at the dealer). Dealer "what?". Seat 4 "They've acted out of turn". Dealer * blank look* At this point I look over to figure out why Seat 4 is complaining as i STILL can't see any cards in front of him. I lean back and forth trying to get a view. In the end I have to lean right over behind seat 5, virtually standing up out of my seat to see that , yes indeed Seat 4 has two cards that are completely concealed underneath his hands. "how am i supposed to see your cards underneath your hands mate" i say. Seat 4 now calls Dena over, whilst now half withdrawing his hands so that his cards are in clear view. I request that he places his hands back where they were originally which he refuses to do. Dena asks the dealer whether the cards had been concealed. He says not. I am far from convinced that the dealer even saw the action was still on 4 himself but there is no arguing with the dealer stating this as a fact and I am given a penalty, which results in me not playing another hand that night. Dena was good enough to come up and apologise to me afterwards, which i reciprocated to her for my reaction, for she could only go on what she was told. I remain convinced that this was an unfair penalty, for a genuine mistake - and a first one at that - after a very long day and when the circumstances were at the very least worthy of some benefit of the doubt and a warning being given, and at worst some pretty poor gamesmanship Not happy Title: Re: English Deepstack at G Casino Luton: Day 1a Post by: Paul R on March 04, 2011, 01:16:58 PM Oh and in addition my exact quote to seat 4 was "you are out of order mate" - there were no "expletives to be deleted" . My reaction on being given the penalty however was "this is ****ing ridiculous" directed loudly to no-one in particular. I do not accept that I swore at either another player or Dena, although if anyone who witnessed the incident is clear in the memory that I did (I was a bit excitable at the time and accept that it is at least possible and i dont remember) then I will happily apologise
