Usual suspects apart - 'Boshi & co, etc, I'd love to see Simon Deadman, (my hero for his all-round lovely-ness & class, a sort of Up-Market Alex), Micky W - be good to see a nice bink for him - or Matt Russell get decent cashes.

Oh, & Jason, too - we might get another Live Update donation from Mrs H if he does. Vested interest ftw.

Joobs and I have arrived just in time for the 6-max comp.

Oops. Slightly early then...

6-max comp has 59 runners and has just started. By my reckoning it needs 150 to make the guarantee. You have until 4.15pm to get here!

Chinese Frankie is down to a bowl of rice after calling Rich Pearson's shove with Qh Th, but Rich's 9s Td sucked out on a 3s 6h 6d 9d 6c board. Very next hand Frankie put them all in with 5s 6d and Mazhar Latif called with Ac 7c. Frankie made 2pair on the 6h 8d Jc Ks 5h and doubled up!

Title: Re: DTD March £300 Deepstack Day 2
Post by: KarmaDope on March 06, 2011, 02:38:24 PM
It didn't last long. Frankie is OUT in 44th.

He found Kh Qc and pushed, but Mazhar Latif called again, this time with 5h 5s. The flop was Jc 5c 7d and Frankie needed runner-runner. It didn't materialise on the 4c turn or the 6s river and we are down to 43.

And we've lost another

Dennise Frost Pushes all in with 7d 9c is swiftly called by Ian Hope with Jh Jc

the flop looked promising for Dennise 7s 8c 6h but the turn and river of  2s Qh nailed  the coffin shut

we lose Dennise in 41st

Steve Holden has exited in 40th.

He got it all in preflop with Ian Hope. Hope was hoping his Ahrt Kc would win the race against Steve's Td Ts and it did, coming out victorious on the Ks Qc Ac 7c Tc board.

There are 39 players left.

Martin Spearing hasn't shown up at all today and his stack is just blinding away.

Shaun King said that Spearing lost a big pot on the last hand of the night yesterday and just "didn't seem up for it after that".

Either that, or he thinks it's a 5pm start!

Kathleen Padovani lost a large % of her stack with A 5 against David Smart's 8 7  the board ran K Q 9 7 4 and she was left with only 5k

I stuck around as the blood thirsty updater i'm becoming to catch her "out hand" but good on her she managed to survive her all in with A J  against roberto's Q 7  on a 8 9 7 10 5 board.

can she keep it up?

88 v AK, all-in pre.

On about 88k now.

AK of Jonathan Baylis who is now out.

Martin Spearing's stack no longer exists. He is also out...anted away.

Jin Ze Wu has also gone - he shoved A-J for 20k at 1200/2400-300 and Robert Cowen called with A-T. Cowen spiked a T on the flop and added another on the turn to rub it in. 31 left.

We have an answer.

Kathleen shoves with Aspades 6d, called by Roberto with Kc Kd

we go hunting for an A but the board runs 8d 9h Qd 8s and Jh

and we lose Kathleen Padovani in 31st

Quick 10 minute break.

Some double ups.

Simon Deadman min-raised but found Robert Cowen 3-betting to 11.6k. Ray Ryder next to him the shoved for 31k. Everyone else got out of the way but Cowen was priced in and called with A-J, massively behind Ryder's A-A. The bullets held on the 6-Q-8-J-T board.

Shiv Kumar raised to 7.5k from the button and BB Robert Moore called. Moore then check-called 8k on the 8c Qs 6h flop, before once again check-calling 11k on the 4h turn. Moore then checked the 7d river and Kumar looked pained before shoving all in for 36k. Moore snap-called and Kumar grinned before turning over Kh 5s. Moore angrily mucked.

A couple of hands later, Moore called an all in from Paul Birkett on a Q-K-x flop. Birkett had A-Q whilst Moore only had J-T. No help for Moore on either turn or river and Birkett also doubled up. Moore is now one of our shortstacks.

David Smart pushed all in for 42k over the top of a Roberto Romanello raise preflop. Romanello called and it was a race. A-Q for Smart and 6-6 for Roberto. Smart binked the river.

Don't think either of you caught this hand on table 11. BVinson opens the CO, bb peels. AK2 check, ben cbets, bb shoves ben snaps with A2. AQ for the bb who hits runner runner flush. Ben crippled to 10k.

Arrive at table 11 a little while ago to the sound of chips crashing into the pot.

Ian Hope is all in against Ben Vinson

Ian has turned over Kd Kc

Ben has 8s 8d

The board is dealt and shows 5d Ahrt 7c Ks 3s

Ian now has a mamouth stack of around 220k

Matt Elder-Gadsden is out. He was very short and shoved with 4-2. Unfortunately Mazhar Latif had Q-Q and the board ran out T-T-3-Q-6.

Hand-for-hand.

Bubble burst.

Ben Vinson has exited in 28th. He was very short after the earlier hand with Ian Hope and doubled with A-Q vs Shaun King's 2-2. 2 hands later, he was all in again with 3-3 against the A-K of Demetris Theophanos, which won the race after a A-K-Q-8-K board.

Everyone else is guaranteed £450.

Couple of Blonde shoves being I was praying for double ups but they couldn't get the callers.

Boshi shove 71400 against Tom Kugelstadt's 12k raise.  Tom tank folds and boshi shows Aspades Kh

Jason Herbert shoves for 40200 over Roberto Romanello's 9100 raise, there is a moment for thought before Roberto folds.

Robert Moore is out in 27th.

Short, he shoved A-J and Tom Kugelstadt called with A-4. Unfortuantely for Moore, the A-4 binked the river of a Q-5-3-T-2 board to make the wheel and send Moore to the cash desk, £450 richer.

As expected, the competition has slowed down dramatically. Pretty standard stuff and we were expecting it, but it does surprise me the difference in raise sizes from different players. The "old regs" tend to lean towards the higher range...quite often 3x-4.5x preflop, whereas the younger/internet generation are often in the min-2.5x range.

Either way, most raises are getting through uncontested. If not, hands are blind vs blind and played very slowly.

Kevin Lee was short after doubling up Ray Ryder when he found Ad Td and pushed over the top of a Mazhar Latif raise. Latif called with Ac Kc and held on the Ahrt Ks 5c 4d Kh board.

Simon Deadman is a machine now he has chips. Most recently he minraised UTG and found Thomas High 3-betting to 46.5k (blinds are 5k-10k/1k). After Jason Herbert had tank-folded, Simon casually pushed all in and sat there pretty relaxed for somebody all in at the deep end of a massive competition. Thomas quickly passed.

Ian Hope is out.

He got absolutely decimated all in preflop against Alan Linford and Richard Whiteley, his 7-7 no good against A-2 for Linford and A-K for Whiteley, the board cruelly running out T-9-9-T-J to counterfeit the sevens and leaving Linford and Whiteley to chop the pot. Hope covered both by exactly 1k and was all in blind for the antes next hand, and failed to win a race against Ray Ryder, Ryder's 6-6 holding against Ian's K-Q on a T-2-4-9-8 board.

Paul Birkett has been eliminated by Jason Herbert.

Herbert nonchalantly chucked in a 25k chip to raise from middle position, only to see Birkett smash his chips over the line from the button. This got Jason very interested, the glasses and headphones came off before Jason said "You've put me in a predicament my friend, but I love my kids so I'll call!"

Cards were revealed and we were off to the races.

Jason: Ac Js

Paul: 8c 8h

The board ran out 9c Kd 2s 5h Jh with Jason binking the river to send Paul home in 12th place, winning £1,063 in what we've been told is his first ever live tournament.

Jason, you're so tez. ;)

Mazhar Latif has just been eliminated in 7th. He open-shoved for 165k preflop but found Thomas High sat behind him with Q-Q. Queens easily beat Mazhar's pocket eights on a A-J-2-J-Q river...although there were some laughs on the turn and river as Tom Kugelstadt had folded K-J face up from the BB.

Final table bubble...why oh why have I left Joobs down there to cover it...

Alan Linford was unlucky number 10

Ray Ryder raised to 36k in the cut off, Alan shoved for 37k more in the small blind

everyone else stood well back Ray called and the dealer dealt us to the final table

Alan turned over Kh 9h

Ray showed 7d 7s

unlucky Alan

short break before we start the final table

Not entirely sure there Cos.

Blinds are now 10k/20k-2k ante. Average stack is 308,750 so expecting some action in this level.

Simon Deadman just min-rased to 40k only to find Tom Kugelstadt 3-betting to 100k. Adriano Luzzi and Jason Herbert both looked pained before folding their SB and BB respectively, but Deadman was grimacing at the 3-bet. Kugelstadt looked pretty confident and this was enough to get Deadman to fold, showing Ahrt Qd. Kugelstadt sportingly showed Jh Js, saying "You must hate me 3-betting you again Simon!" Some clear history between the two, expected as both are local and that battle could have a massive dynamic on the final table.

As I type, Deadman 3-bets all in preflop...and gets it through.

Richard Whiteley is OUT in 8th place, taking home £1,899.

As posted above, he called all in blind in the SB after Thomas High raised to 42k preflop. Simon Deadman in the BB got out of the way sharpish and cards were shown:

Richard: 2h Tc

Thomas: 5c 5s

The board ran out Kd 4c 5c Ad 2d to send the pot to Thomas and a short-stacked Richard to the cash desk.

A-K has killed Jason Herbert today.

He got it all in blind on blind against Simon Deadman.

Jason: Aspades Ks

Simon: 3c 3s

The board was pretty thorough for Simon, it ran out Ahrt 9c 3d 3h 8h to give Simon quads and send Jason back home in 7th place, taking home £2,658.

So Jason Herbert makes back-to-back final tables in the DTD £300 but fails to convert the second one, and he looks gutted.

Simon Deadman is now the chip leader. Can he spunk it or will he finally convert himself?

With Herbert gone, most hands are now being played preflop by a combination of Deadman/High/Kugelstadt, with a 3-bet generally good enough to take the pot. Not many flops being seen here.

Ouch.

It was folded around to Tom Kugelstadt in the SB and he just put a stack of 25k peach chips into the middle. BB Thomas High was all-in pretty quickly and Kugelstadt had to call.

Kugelstadt: 2h 2d

High: Ahrt Jd

The board ran out 7c 6s Ac Kh 8s to make High our new chip leader on 950k and Kugelstadt down to a bowl of rice.

Hello Ian, welcome to blonde and well played. Clark's still there but sandwiched between Deadman and Kugelstadt/High, not the best place to be. Not sure which Tom you're rooting for though.

Double up for Tom Kugelstadt

He shoved Ahrt Td on the button and was called by Thomas High with 8s Kc in the small blind

the board came down 5c 3h Th Tc 7h

Tom now has around 230k worth of chips in front of him.

Title: Re: DTD March £300 Deepstack Day 2
Post by: KarmaDope on March 06, 2011, 11:51:56 PM
Another double up for Kugelstadt.

Clark Brunton raised to 137k blind on blind, and was committed when Tom shoved for 250k with Ad Qh. Brunton called and sheepishly turned over 5c 7c. The board ran out 3h Qs 4h 2c 9c - a sweat for Kugelstadt, but he is now back in the game.

Brunton is down to about 6 big blinds and along with a quiet Antonio Luzzi, should be looking to get it all in very soon.

Clark Brunton gets his chips in the middle preflop against Tom Kugelstadt

Clark has Aspades 6s
Tom 4s 4c

board comes 3d 7d 4h Kh Tc

and Clark Brunton is out in 6th with £3,417 to drown his sorrows

Whilst the reaction from the Brunton hand died down, Adriano Luzzi shoved Ks Ts and Kugelstadt called with Qc 8c. An 8 flopped but Luzzi binked a King on the river to go to 275k.

He's since donated 110k to Deadman without seeing a flop.

Adriano: Kc Qc

High: 4c 4h

Adriano wins the flip on a 5d 3d Qd 9c Tc board. He's now our new chip leader and High is back in the pack.

Seriously though, it's been a great weekend and especially glad to see Simon finally get the result he's deserved. One for the nice guys of poker.

We're off home now. Thanks for watching and the support...especially for Joobs. She's loved it this weekend and definitely wants to come back for more updates. I'm worried!

Thanks especially to everybody that donated for us to come and update this month. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as we have and we're hoping we can come back next month!

statoooooo, change name to jokeo or something?

Obv both good players and from 20 out I wanted them both to win, but just ridic amount of coolers shows that tournament poker can sometimes be just ridic. FWIW both probably easily best player on their respective final tables.

yah, sorry forgot to say this too, massive +1.

Joobs seemed to get into it more and more as weekend progressed whilst Sharplea always seems to give a very solid job.

gg Guys (it's Tom High)... thought Simon played gd.. deserves his run. Shame I couldnt hold for the 800k pot with A,7... but £8600 is a big cash for me in my 2nd meaningful live tourney. Wp all... the other Tom seemed like a v.good player and a nice guy too... tables were very pleasant all day. Cheers for the support, gg.

Would just like to say, that final table was a pleasure to watch, very sporting, no malice, no showboating or slowrolls and handshakes after every exit. Well played guys!

Well done Simon congrats.

Shut up Sweaty.

Congrats to Simon, chuffed for him.  Also well played to Tom & Tom, who looked on course to be there at the end and did just that.

Thanks to Adam and Joobles for the updates, and again well played DTD for another great comp.  Thanks in particular to dik9 for moving me to another table and away from Frankie (my right ear is particularly grateful) on Day 1.
