You can see the car crash coming, but you just can't look away.

Irene, I think you might actually spontaneously combust during this reveal.

You need to give a pass or two btw. They're there so if someone doesn't know a q they can still enter. Eg I've barely even heard of charmed nevermind watched it. I certainly don't know who the people you're after are.  And name a fairground ride I can do. Dunno wtf a robinsons fairground ride means.

2.   Name a popular method of Elizabethan torture (This is begging people to google)
3.   Name one of the sisters from the t.v series Charmed (A TV series from about 10 years ago that was not very popular?)
4.   Name a non fiction book by Tom Clancy (Not a clue about any of his books, aint RSQ's supposed to be easy questions?)
5.   Name one of the 10 biggest worldwide potato producers in 2006 (I have no idea)

All points will be awarded depending on how funny the answer is... (This is so far from what a RSQ should be,total fail)

Reverse RSQ Part

2.   Name a Robinsons fairground ride (never heard of Robinsons)
5.   Name a slang term for having sex  (is it obligatory to have a sex question in these now?)

I may sound a stig in the dump but these just aint for me, I just want a quiz type RSQ without all the bollocks that's crept in.

Best question there is............

GIRGY'S TIE-BREAKER QUESTION

There are 12 coins/notes in circulation in the UK. 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p,50p £1, £2, £5, £10, £20 and £50. If you add them all up they total £88.88.
Give me a figure in £'s by using only 11 of the coins/notes stated above.

Wouldn't a quicker way of asking this question be: pick one of these coins/notes?

Post by: Cf on March 09, 2011, 10:57:44 AM
Middle bit needs to go yeah. Not entirely sure what its purpose is.

As for Girgy's tie breaker... so ambiguously worded. Is it basically a random number from 1-12 or can we use the same coin more than once, eg, 11p. Either way. It's rubbish Girgy. Can't believe you were desperate to pm and get that question in lol.

Title: Re: RSQ 48 - Begining of the end of farceville
Post by: Girgy85 on March 09, 2011, 10:59:56 AM
No no no noooo

You have to use 11 seperate units and add them all up to give a figure.

Was a US programme that ran from 98-06 about some witches that aired here on channel 5 apparantly. This is according to wikipedia. This doesn't count as research. I have no intention of entering if I cannot pass this question.

An insect is an animal.  A human is an animal.  A reptile is an animal.

This isn't a RSQ.

For that reason, I'm out.

PMSL!!!!

Going just I had planned wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

So you lot just want a standard quiz eh...well why the feck didn't you say something..I'm nothing if not reasonable ;oDD Plus I had a cracking post 5am kip and as a direct result I am feeling much more benevolent today...

FWIT the middle section had nothing to do with providing facts, it was purely there to save my sanity during marking..gotta have something to laugh at right!! Plus you lot are very funny posters so was your time to shiiiiiineeeee..though apparently not in this case so it's ooooooot...though if that's going then I don't see why Girgy's question should stay so thats oooot also!!!

Sex question..well, as I'm new to RSQ and as no-one told me the rules I had to go by previous questions so I presumed it was the norm...will also amend so as not to offend...

K - I'm off to amend the orig post then onto proper life for the day..will catch up with your interesting thoughts when I get back...amendments will be complete by 1.30pm today (speedy eh!!)

fwiw I'm going for the under on 4 entrants btw so the scoring will should be easy ;oD

Addendum - BLAME GIRGY!!!!

xx

This is quite simply not on..I'm sure I went for the under on 4 entrants FFS..I already have fecking 4 and it's not even tomorrow..Have you ever seen me use a spreadsheet..NO!!
Trust me there is a very good reason for this - though after the last QM scoring FIASCO I can't be MUCH worse-ish

CHECK DES RULES - Under extreme duress I added ONE pass ye feckers

Pfffffft feck knows what questions you lot are reading, however judging by the answers I've already recieved, they're CLEARLY not the ones I posted so... good luck with the reveal!!

The middle bit in the original quiz before the edit got a lot of hate.

Would just like to say that while I wasn't a fan myself (I didn't see too much oppurtunity for good original comedy within the parameters you'd laid out) I support innovations such as that in principle.

The thing that Tikay will most dislike about this picture is the spelling, lol.

Epic thread Irene!

No idea what an RSQ is and now I have no desire to find out, ever.

My RSQ = My Spelling

Clearly I have no idea what an RSQ is either...

So get yer answers in yer feckin WUSS pffffffffft

Hardly fair that those people will lose out.

When I submitted mine you stated in your OP that there were NO passes.  So you've changed it since.

I'll pass on the Fairground one please then.

I'm not intending to respond to comments about the spelling on this thread - my life insurance has just lapsed.

err why?

You say served WITH a roast lamb dinner. You're not asking for part of a roast lamb dinner. So stuff such as mint sauce, pepper, wine, etc is fine. They are served as accompinaments to the dish without being part of the dish itself.

You say served WITH a roast lamb dinner. You're not asking for part of a roast lamb dinner. So stuff such as mint sauce, pepper, wine, etc is fine. They are served as accompinaments to the dish without being part of the dish itself.

With does not mean at the side of....

have to agree with CF here.  you didn't say 'served with lamb in a roast lamb dinner', so therefore you either have to fail everything that comes on the plate, or let the lamb through.  let the lamb through, obv.

Surprised the people who have gone for humourous answers have been failed tbh. You said youself with your orig questions you needed a laugh to help keep your sanity through all this. why would they mean the band rather than the torture device in answer to that question?!

Nothing stealth-like regarding the opening post...

De Rules

MY decision is final, objections will be listened to prior to being dismissed.
Any utterance or interjection of the word ‘farce’ during reveal will be rewarded with a 10 point penalty – time to be creative!!
You may NOT obtain your answers using google, research, wiki or by any other feckin means including but not exclusively asking your au pair, Austrian builder or favourite masseur.
You may pass ONE question.
Person with the lowest score wins.
Answers will be taken in the order provided.
If there are more than 1 sheep answers, they will be added together to give a new total sheep score which the fail will be based on.

No. The fail is the highest score (8) + 5. Scoring is simply:

Sheep answer - 1 pt
Others: Number of answers in sheep - number of answers + 1
Fail: highest score + 5

It was pleasant to me to enter teh RSQ.  Perhaps I should have found it pleasanter if I had been able to decipher it.  I don't think that I mastered anything beyond the date (which I knew) and the QM  (which I guessed at).  There's a singular and a perpetual charm in this RSQ of yours; it never grows old, it never loses its novelty .... Other RSQ's are read and thrown away and forgotten, but yours are kept forever -- unread.  One of them will last a reasonable man a lifetime.

Real QM's don't play ping pong posts, or any other sport that requires you to change clothes.  Mountain climbing is OK, and real QM's wear their climbing boots to work in case a mountain should suddenly spring up in the middle of the reveal.

Anything which is a shorterning/play on "Web" is a fail - this is slang for the World Wide Web. This is NOT the same thing as the internet. It's merely a program that runs on the internet.

Has everyone noticed that all the letters of the words "Reverse Sheep" (with the exception of the 'p') are typed with the left hand?  Now the layout of the QWERTYUIOP typewriter keyboard was designed, among other things, to facilitate the even use of both hands.  It follows, therefore, that typing answers to farcical questions is not only unnatural, but a lot harder than it appears.

Jack has won again - we have a problem

When a shepherd goes to kill a wolf, and takes his dog along to see the sport, he should take care to avoid mistakes.  The dog has certain relationships to the wolf the shepherd may have forgotten.

Why would you do this? That said, he's a massive step up from what we've had to endure recently ;)

Is it too late to enter?

Not at all. In fact seeing as you'd have probably won, you can be next QM. Congratulations!

I've just realised that I've lost my pencil.
Sorry.

So is MereNovice doing the next one?  I tried to keep up...honest.  Even read the last few pages again after a good night's sleep, but it's no clearer.

WTF?!  Who won and who's doing the next one?

Knew this would be an utter farce.

[ ] Shame I missed the reveal.

Has it finished yet?

Still, we found out what "popular torture" is.

If you need to restore RSQ from it's TRIP5 nightmare, I strongly advise you to invite MerePedant to do it.

We also found out that "the net" is not a slang term for the internet as abbreviations cannot be slang.

I was up three times in the night pacing the floor over this discovery.

I am not sure I could cope with Girgy doing the next one, just yet. technolog also started the downhill spiral with notions of Laxie doing it, which was a disaster

I think we might have to make a mod executive decision or else lose RSQ for ever.

Mod executive decision: tikay to run the next one.

Yeah.  Good luck with that.

Agreed - if I can delegate it to MerePedant.

MereNovice...up for running the next one then?

I'd be delighted to do one but I would hate to tread on anyone's toes.
I certainly couldn't guarantee the entertainment value provided by Irene.

I could do the one after Tikay if that was more appealing to the regulars.

I won't be doing one, as I don't understand how they work, but it's clear they are very popular, or were, pre TRIP5.

You, on the other hand.....

PS - "cannot guarantee the entertainment value provided by Irene".....you are the master of back-handed compliments.

But don't use that post as a guide as to what makes good RSQ questions!

That's not fair! I enjoy have a dig at previous QM, I needed to, wanted to, had a reason to, felt like it. Can;t think of a reason to needle this one. Going to have to trawl through all his posts now to find hidden reasons.
